Original Ipad Question

I just bought a brand new original IPAD (Ipad 1). Question when I try to get it to sync I get an error message reading pairing record is missing. Does anyone know how I can resolve this?

Restart the iPad as well and reboot the computer again. See if it works after you restart the iPad.

How do I turn off iCal alerts on the original iPad?  We just upgarded to Mountain Lion and now every time we create an event it shows up on the iPad with an alert.  We've turned off alerts in Settings, but to no avail.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

Same problem. Most annoying. Can't find any solution. I can't believe it is intentional.

  • Super fast wifi at times on original iPad

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this on their original iPad.
    So I own a 3G / wifi 32 original iPad ... Bought in 2010.    It works great, iOS 5.1.1
I've noticed that at certain times, especially at night, between 6-midnight and slightly past , that my iPad not only gets really fast wifi speed, but also the screens resolution is slightly "crisper" than usual..... More "hd" if there is such a term .... Icons look sharper, Colors are sharper, even letter, text, etc... Appear to be really crisp, sharp.... Even home page icons seem slightly tighter, smaller, very clean and crisp and clear, extremely sharp.  Even the screen keyboard type action is tighter and "less sluggish".
I know it sounds crazy, but I assure you, this occurs.  Then, in the morning, it's back to normal,,then repeats at night.   Wt.... Is going on?
    Thx.

    Thx James for your response.
I understand network may be less cluttered , which would explain the faster speeds, but,  my main question is why and how a stronger wifi speed, connection, etc.... makes my screen "crisper" and super clean, tight.  I love it, and I wish it was like that all the time, but like I said , usually in the morning, it's back to "normal" which is still pretty crisp and clean, but not as ... As at night.     Again, question is screen res. is affected by wifi network speed, strength?

  • Should owners of original ipad upgrade the os?

I am so frustrated by my ipad that I am not sure what to do. The original ipad only has 256 mb of ram and cannot be upgraded. The newer ipads have much more ram. The OS, currently IOS6, does not run well on the original ipad. So I have stayed with IOS4. Meanwhile the app developers have continued developing their apps with an eye toward compatibility with the new IOS. So, often my apps do not boot and I frequently have to cold reboot the ipad and re-download the apps to continue to get them to work. My simple apps, the New York Times, the NewYorker magazine, Comixology, the Economist are so hard to boot that I am ready to move to another platform. If I have to abandon my investment (the ipad cost me $500), I will never trust apple again.

I am so disappointed by this users's forum, but perhaps I shouldn't be surprised as the users have an uncritical attitude towards Apple and never question the strategy of planned obsolesence. A more responsible corporate policy would be to allow users of the original equipment to continue using their equipment by allowing Ipad users to continue using the old versions of the apps in question and not force continuous (and RAM hungry) upgrades.
Apple isn't forcing you to do anything.   If you don't want to upgrade then don't upgrade.
Your iPad may be having other issues not related to the Apps at all.
In fact my sister still owns an original iPad, still is running iOS 4.3.3 and she can run all the Apps she has since she bought it just fine without updating. Eveyrthng works just as it did before the iOS 6 upgrade and before the iOS 5 upgrade.
Nobody is forcing you to do anything.
If anything it would be the App developers pushing there newer versions and having them only be compatible with the newer iOS, but that's up to the Developers.
Producing newer versions of the Operating system helps improve existing features and provide newer ones that maybe weren;t possible with the hardware available before.
If certain features require new hardware, there's not muhc to do. The more things it can do, the more RAM its going to need, and the more processor power. but that is the same for every device in existance.
Technology evolves, and requires more and more resources as it does more things. I don't expect a cell phone from 5 years ago to be able to handle today's  commmunications. Or a Computer from 10 years ago to handle todays software.
Things are just happening faster now.   And yes Apple is a company out to make money by selling devices. Soi they put out newer devices that do more things asnd run faster because they have higher specs so consumers will buy them.  Its called running a successful bussiness.

It needs iOS 6 and the last version of iOS for iPad 1 is iOS 5.1.1

Why can I not use multi-touch gestures on my original iPad with iOS 5?

It would appear that apple has managed to p1ss off  alot of ipad one users in one fowl swoop, what makes it worse is that fact we were the early adoptors who got asked, why do you want a big iphone for? and then spent time showing people how good it was! actually promoting it for apple! and then to get this kick in the teeth is frustrating! i wish i had known about xcode before!
    however!
keep sending feedback, i must have sent twenty yesterday and will keep sending them untill i get a reply from these idiots! and wont stop untill i do, the more feedback sheets we fill in the more they will have to listen, it takes less than a min, i just asking the same question! moaning on here wont do anything, feedback might
also note they have changed the website now, but they have not changed the iOS5 spash screen :
(•          AirPlay Mirroring for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S
              •          Multitasking Gestures for iPad
              ◦          Use four or five fingers to pinch to the Home Screen
              ◦          Swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar
              ◦          Swipe left or right to switch between apps)
clearly they were planning on releasing this update to us, otherwise on the spalsh screen it would have stated ipad 2 only, note in the sentence above it states it CLEARLY makes a reference to ipad 2 for airplay, so, whatever the problem, they can fix it and they know it works!

  • How do you update your original iPad ios

Hi,  I have the original iPad.  For the life of me , i I can't update the iOS.  I was told i can download the  update. But I am unable to do it.  Please help.

What version is on there now? If you have iOS 5.1.1, that's the last version an iPad 1 can run. If you have iOS 4.x or earlier, see the section titled "Update your device using iTunes" in this support article:

  • HT5457 Why doesn't iOS 6 work on original ipad?

I don't understand why iOS 6 doesn't work on the original ipad... any help?

Nobody here knows the definitive answer as to why the original iPad will not run iOS 6. Only Apple could answer that question and they aren't saying. The bottom line is - it isn't supported. I have the original iPad and in my opinion, the processor could never handle what iOS has to offer. There would probably be crashes galore and the iPad would become a useless brick.
If your asking and looking for a reason is cathartic for you, have at it. But you are just wasting your time looking for the reason.

  • How can I get an HD movie from iTunes store to play on original iPad

I recently purchased an HD movie--Brave--from the iTunes store.  I'm trying to play on my original iPad (iPad 1), but iTunes refuses to synch it because it says it is an unsupported format.  The movie is in 1080p format.  I typically get both HD and SD formats when I purchase movies, but iTunes no longer downloads the SD version automatically when I purchase the HD version.  I attempted to get an SD version from the store, but it said I already purchased the movie and instructed me to check the downloads.  There is no SD download pending and a check for new downloads was fruitless.
Can someone confirm that the original iPad is unable to play HD video?  I imagine it is the 1080p that's the problem.  Can anyone confirm that 720p would work?  Is there no longer a means to get both HD and SD when purchasing a movie from the iTunes store?  If there is, how?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jamie

You can get the SD or 720p version by:
    Open iTunes 11
Click iTunes in menu bar > select Preferences...
    Click on the Store tab
Change When downloading High Definition videos, prefer dropdown to 720p > click OK
Click on the iTunes Store button
    Click Purchased link
    Click Movies tab
You should now see a download icon for the movies you already have 1080p version of.
Click on this download icon to download the 720p version.
This will put a 720p version in the same folder on your hard drive as the 1080p version.  If you have iTunes setup to play 1080p when available, it will play the 1080p version.  When you connect your iPad 1, it will sync the 720p version.
Don't forget to change your preference back to 1080p so you can continue to get the higher quality version.

  • How to upgrade to iOS 8.1 on original iPAD

I have an original iPad.  The current OS is 5.1.1.  When I try to upgrade using the latest version of iTunes on my PC using the "Check for Update" function, it says that "the version of the iPad software (5.1.1) is the current version" and doesn't offer me to upgrade.  Is it possible to ugrade to iOS 8 on the original iPad?

  • Why is 'Sherlock' TV show not showing up on my original ipad?

We have a large shared iTunes library with LOTS of movies, tv shows and music. The library is stored on an 8TB Promise Pegasis RAID drive linked to a mac mini. We aos have three 1 iPhone 4, 2 iPhone 5, 2 original iPads, 1 iPad (3rd generation) and 2 Apple TV's, an old G4 Flat Panel, a 24" imac, a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air all of which use Home Sharing. The problem I'm having is in NOT being able to see certain purchased TV shows (in this case, the show 'Sherlock' - both seasons and all but one episode of 'Game of Thrones') on the original iPads via Home Sharing. The shows appear on every other device but the original iPads. Also, the entire season of Game of Thrones appears on all other devices...but on the original iPads only the first episode appears...with a link to purchase other episodes - However, I have purchased the entire season...and ALL the episodes are available for viewing on every other device. I should point out that these shows were not ripped from DVDs but purchased from the iTunes store. Each of these devices is linked to the exact same iTunes account for purposes of Home Sharing. I assume it must be something related to both of these iPads running iOS 5.1, but I can't imagine what that issue would be. I had originally thought that it may be due to the fact that 'Sherlock' is in 1080p, but most of the movies are also HD...as is the one episode of 'Game of Thrones' that does appear via Home Sharing, so I ruled that out.
I realize this is not an earth-shattering issue, but it is a bit of a bother. Any ideas, suggestions or possible fixes would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I've the same problem as the original post. I already enabled photo stream for iCloud on both my iPhone 4S and my iPad Air. Both are running iOS 7. I didn't have this problem between my iPhone 4 and my old iPad.  Thanks for any advice.

  • I have an original iPad and when I try to login on Yahoo through Safari it will not log me in. What could be the problem?

My original iPad will not log me into Yahoo through Safari. It's been this way for one week. I can access Yahoo on my PC with no problem so I think the problem is my iPad or Safari.

Your description of the behavior  of the ipad1 during a login attempt is more precise than mine, it is the exactly as my ipad1 reacts and supposedly as all other iPad1 will behave. This could be solved either by apple with an update of the safari browser for ipad1. I do not think that apple will do that. Also yahoo could undo the change of the login procedure which they recently made and which is incompatible do the ipad1s safari browser. They hardly will do that either if not be urged by lots of ipad1 users.
!!!!  SO SEND COMPLAINS TO YAHOO, PHONE THE HOTLINE ETC  !!!!!!
Otherwise you have to buy a new iPad or to change the email provider.
