Ipad disabled after upgrading to IOS7.

I called Apple support. The tech stated he had the same problem himself.
He tried to have me restore my ipad from the backup on my MAC. This resulted in an error message stating my device did not have authority to be restored. The tech put me on hold to research further and Apple dropped my call. I'm hoping the Genius Bar guys have an answer which is where I'm heading next.

  • IPad won't start after iOS7 upgrade and reset

    Hi,
I have just tried to upgrade to iOS7 through WiFi. No luck. So I upgraded via iTunes. When it finally was finished, I tried to turn on my iPad, but it wouldn't. It gets stuck at the Apple logo with a loading bar just under it. I did a full reset on iTunes and I can only get to the loading bar (which won't load).. Any suggestions?

I was experiencing the same thing.  This article worked for me, hopefully it will help you.

Hold both the home button and the wake/suspend button down at the same time. You should see the Apple logo appear on your screen after holding these buttons down a couple of seconds, which means your iPad is booting up and should be good to go in a few more seconds.

  • Any experiences about troubles with ipad 2 after upgraded to IOS7?

Hello everyone! I've read in several blogs and websites warnings about possible problems or slowdowns of IPAD2 after the upgrade to IOS7. Has anybody decided to "challenge" these warnings? If yes, have you have any problems or is everything going ok?
    Thanks!

I upgraded to ios7 on my ipad2 (Model MC773LL/A) and was very happy with it despite some minor quirks until the 7.0.2 update.  Since then, I can't use the home button.  It worked just fine and I was even able to make it work after a couple of resets, but as soon as I open the first app, it no longer works.  Since the 7.0.3 update which I expected to fix the problem, I can't even get the home button to work after a reset.  This iPad2 is pristine and had been cocooned in my Griffen rubberized case since the day it was unboxed. (yes, I took it out of the case since to make sure it wasn't the cause)
While I can use all the other tricks such as assisted touch or gestures, it just ticks me off that the home button doesn't work any longer.  Since I am out of warranty, I don't want to waste my time waiting on line to get them to fix something they broke and being asked to pay for it.  The button worked fine until the iOS7 upgrade and there is no reason why it shouldn't work today.
My iPad Mini (Model MD528LL/A) appears to be working just fine with iOS 7.0.2, though a bit slower than when it was 6.1.3.  However, it seems that since 7.0.3 broke my iPad2 further, I am hesitant to even consider blowing up my iPad Mini as well.  My iPhone 5 is working really well on iOS 7.0.3...thank goodness.
I agree with the many comments about the loss of Steve Jobs... Tim, you better get these thing straightened out or that iPhone 5 will be the last Apple product I purchase. Kwon Oh Yun and Risto Siilasmaa are looking pretty innovative these days!

  • My original iPad won't turn on

I have an original iPad running on ios5 I seem to remember, and it won't turn on.
ios5 was the last operating system I could install on this iPad I believe
When plugged into a wall charger I get the apple logo flashing on and off.
If I hold the home button and off button down I can get the logo asking to be connected to ITunes.
As soon as I pull the lead out of the charger and plug it to my PC the iPad is dead, I get nothing.
There doesn't seem to be enough charge from the pc to get the iPad up running again. (usb works just fine with my 5 other apple products).
I have usb's on the front and back of my PC, none will bring the iPad back to life.
It doesn't matter if I leave the thing on charge all night with the wall charger , it won't charge.
What can I try next ?
    Thx

I could take it in if I wanted to pay for their expertise yes, but that's what these forums are here for...to find out how to fix it.
It would seem that my 'fix it' revolves around finding someway to boost the charging current to the iPad whilst remaining connected to the pc.
If I could get more current than the 100ma available to the ipad I can connect to itunes and from there install a new operating system which is the fix for the flashing logo.
I looked at something like this : RAVPower RP-UA01. This seemed to be the answer however,
Having viewed the youtube video it seems it only charges OR connects to upload data via a toggle switch. I need both.

  • IPad 2 - will upgrading to iOS7 solve shutting down problem?

My mother (age 89) has an iPad2 which keeps shutting down.  I restored it to its factory settings and that seemed to solve the problem for a while, but it's back with a vengeance now.  I've been reluctant to upgrade to iOS7 as it will confuse my mother and she's just getting used to how things work right now. However, I'm wondering is this might solve this very frustrating problem.  Thoughts??

Although you can't get Apple's speech-to-text on that model iPad, you could use Dragon Dictation. It's not quite as seamless but it works quite well.

  • Original Ipad won't shut Down

I turned my original Ipad off, the "clock" appears and just keeps going around for over 10 minutes. What's wrong?

Hold down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears takes about 10-15 seconds - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. The iPad should reboot this way. After it totally reboots, try to shut if off again with the red slider bar.

  • I have iPad2 and original iPad. After upgrade to iOS5 neither will connect to wifi network. Network is working as I have connectivity with iPhone and Mac Airbook. What's the problem?

I have downloaded iOS 5 to both iPad 2 and original iPad. I cannot get wifi to work on either. It's not my wifi as I have connectivity with other devices, just not with the iPad. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem.  The iPad has never roamed particularly well between access points, but under IOS6 it doesn't seem to roam at all, it simply sticks with the access point it first connected with.
I don't have a solution for you, unfortunately.

  • Original IPAD won't turn on

My original IPAD will no longer turn on tech support suggested holding the home button and power button at same time this did not work.
At a loss if battery is dead seems to cost more to replace or repair than it  is worth.
    Any ideas or subbestions?

This is Apple's support site for an unresponsive iPad. Take at look at it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
You have tried a few steps already, but you might be able to bring it back by restoring it, assuming that the battery is not dead. Pay attention to the last link  the one that says if the iPad is not recognized in iTunes,

  • Lost ipad sound after upgrading to ios7

As soon as I click the iOS7 upgrade my ipad volume is gone

First thing to try if you have no sound at all, even in the Music App, try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
Still no luck - try cleaning the dock connector opening of the iPad with a soft brush and just a little bit of rubbing alcohol.
If that fails, then try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but all device settings have to be entered again.
Should you still have no sound after trying all of these steps, restoring the iOS software would be the next thing to try.

I tried to upgrade my 4th Gen ipod to iOS7 and it says that iOS 6.1.3 is the most up to date version.  What gives?

As posted on Apples website since early June,  only the ipod touch 5th gen can run ios 7

  • Ipad won't upgrade to iOS 5

I cannot upgrade my ipad to ios5, even though i tried restarting and restoring it from scratch
itunes keeps telling me my current version 4.2 is the correct one

Have you got iTunes 10.5 on your computer as that is needed for the update to download ?
If 10.5 doesn't prompt you to download the update, and the Check For Updates doesn't detect it, then you could try downloading the update outside of iTunes and the pressing and holding the shift key on Windows, command key on Mac, when clicking the Check Foe Updates button which should let you navigate to the downloaded file :
    ipad1
    iPad 2 wifi-only
    iPad 2 GSM/sim
    iPad 2 CDMA

  • TS3274 Original iPad won't charge, won't update and iTunes won't recognize

I have one of the first generation iPads that won't charge unless it is completely drained of power.  Also if after it shuts off from 0% power ifr any reason it gets turned back on while plugged in, it stops charging and won't continue to charge until the device is completely drained again. Also iTunes won't recognize the device AND it is operating under iOS 5.1.1 and says the software is up to date and won't update at all.  I have tried different plugs, different computers, nothing works.  Is my iPad just too old?

The failure to update isn't an issue. The iPad one is maxed out at 5.1.1.
The other issues may be an issue with the battery, or charging port or software inside. You may want to make an appointment to get it checked out, but even if what's broken is a manufacturer's defect you're outside of any warranty so the most you'll get is the offer of an out of warranty replacement for a fee. might ultimately be cheaper to put that money towards a new device.
Have you tried to give your iPad a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps.
