Original iPhone & iPhone 3G will not connect to IMac G5 after iTunes update

I downloaded iTunes 9 update and when I went to sych iPhones, they will not connect to the iMac. Never had this problem before.
Any input or ideas? Thank you.

You might have an old iTunes Plug in that's causing a problem. Open iTunes in "safe mode" (without external plug-ins) by holding Command + Option (while opening iTunes). If you find you need to remove a plug in, they are in ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug ins.
You might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service.

    Have you tried the following troubleshooting document?

    There are three conditions that must be met in order for an iPhone to sync automatically over Wi-Fi. It sounds as if you have met one of them, can you check to see if the other two are met as well?

    The iOS device will sync automatically when the following conditions are true:
    The iOS device is charging.
    iTunes is open on the computer.

    Most of your purchases content can be downloaded again via the Purchased tabs in each of the store. I realize that this will be a problem for the iTunes Store on the iPad, but that has nothing to do with apps, since apps are in the App Store.
    If you backed up synced with iTunes before you restored the iPad, your content should be in iTunes on your Mac and you should be able to sync it back again.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Have iMac and Macbook Air, all n Yosemite. Purchased new iPhone 6 Plus and want to use message centre on iMac. It was working excellent with iPhone 5. Will not work at all with iPhone 6. I tried manually to connect iPhone to iMac but no avail.
    I found other people complaining about no connection in car but those are both Apple devices, latest and greatest and can't connect to each other? Phone is 8.1.3 so latest. Both Macs are 10.10.2

    If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5458

    Here is the fix:
    1. Open Terminal in /Applications/Utilities.
    2. Run these commands respectively:
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
    This will uninstall kernel extensions related to AirParrot. Other solutions around the web being posted are missing the extensions within /Library/Extensions.
    3. Enter your administrative password when prompted.
    4. Restart your computer.

He came out to the car ... He could not pair my phone but he could pair his phone ... So, it's the iphone ... Back to the Apple Store ... the genius was really good. He replaced the iphone. Great !  So, back out to the car & it would not pair, still.  So ... can't be the phone , right.  Back to VW. The Audi manager had an iphone 4S. He paired his phone with my car. He could not pair my phone to my car. He tries my phone in a new 2011 GTI sitting on the lot ... my phone pairs with it just fine.  So ... it's my car.  So ... make an appointment to get the bluetooth module replaced. They replace the Bluetooth module. My iphone will not pair.  They end up pairing 2 different iphone 4S to my car ... but not my iphone 4S. My iphone 4S will also not pair with another 2010 GTI they have in for service. Though the 2 iphone 4S
    pair with the second GTI just fine.  They even try pairing my iphone with a brand new 2012 GTI in the showroom ... yep ... it paired fine.    So ... ????????????????
    They are going to update my nav software next (tomorrow), Hopeful ??? not really ... Will be taking my computer to Apple Store next ... maybe if they can discover why it will not pair to my MacBook Pro it will lead to a solution for the GTI ???  I'll get back to you.

    With any wi-fi network or with your wi-fi network?
    If your wi-fi network, try resetting the wireless router and modem. Disconnect the wireless router from the power source followed by disconnecting the modem from the power source. Wait a few minutes followed by re-connecting the modem to the power source and allow the modem to completely reset before re-connecting the wireless router to the power source and allow it to reset with the modem before trying again.
