Original size Raw to JPG export not exporting correct size

I'm having a problem with the export of RAW to JPG at original size. I have raw images of 4941 × 3295 (125mb), when I export selecting "JPEG-origional" size I get resulting jpg's of 800 x 533 (95kb)
If I select JPEG-50% of original size I get correctly exported images of 2471 × 1648 (589kb)
Why would the original size export not work?

Have you checked the "JPEG original size" preset? Select the preset on export, then switch to "Edit" and see, what is selected. Sometimes this preset is redefined to a smaller size.
When you edit the preset, the "Size To" pop-up should be set to "Original size". If it is not, set it back.

  • JPG images not displayed correctly in Bridge and Photoshop (Mac OS)

(Note: I have copied the content of this query from the Creative Suites forum where I originally opened it.)
I am using CS4 under OSX 10.4.11 on a PowerMac G5 Quad with 23" Apple cinema display. Images which have been captured as JPG are displayed fine by Preview, but when opened in Bridge, Camera Raw or Photoshop. the colours are all "washed out". The attached screen capture should give an idea of the difference, with the upper being Camera Raw (image settings) and the lower being Preview. My monitor has been calibrated and I'm using sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space in Camera Raw and Photoshop. The colours displayed by Preview are pretty close to "real life". I find it virtually impossible to adjust the colours in Photoshop to get back to anything similar.
After opening the image in Photoshop without adjustment, and Save As JPEG with embedded color profile, Preview displays the new image the same as Photoshop. Save As JPEG without embedded color profile, and Preview displays this copy just like the original. It seems that Photoshop is making different (incorrect) assumptions about what color space to use when there is no embedded color profile. Shouldn't it assume sRGB like virtually everything else (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRGB)? Or is its interpretation of sRGB incorrect? How can I fix this?

…If there is someone out there who has experience of obtaining decent colour management in CS4 on a Power PC, I would really like to know how you achieved it.
That would be yours truly, and I hasten to reply because I may have some insights that can help you too.
Just get it it out of the way, here's my setup:
Photoshop 11.0.2 ("CS4"); VersionCue disabled and uninstalled.—2.5 GHz Power Mac (PPC) G5-Quad; 16GB RAM; mutant, flashed 550MHz nVidia GeForce 7800GTX 1,700MHz 512MB VRAM; ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D LP SCSI card; Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard 10.5.8 boot drives; Spotblight, Dashboard and Time Machine permanently disabled; dual 22" CRT monitors; USB wireless 'n' available but connected to the Internet via wired Ethernet; 1 FW flatbed scanner; 2 SCSI scanners (one tabloid-size transparency scanner and a film scanner); various internal & external HDs; FW Epson 2200 and Ethernet Samsung ML-2850ND printers; 2 X Back-UPS RS 1500 XS units.
I can unambiguously and in good faith represent to you that my color management, from capture to print, is as spot-on as anyone with any kind of setup can hope to achieve.  Unequivocally and without qualifications.
Now, first things first:  Forget about trying to synchronize color management across the point applications lumped together only by Adobe marketing fiat into a variety of meaningless "creative suites".  Concentrate on Photoshop.  Do not try to use Bridge to synchronize anything.
The "suites" are a totally artificial construct created by Adobe bean counters and marketing types.  The point applications (i.e. the individual programs clumsily bundled together, e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) are developed independently by separate engineering teams that are not only not in the same building, but in different cities, different states of the American Union, and even in different countries.  They have very little communication among them, if any, as evidenced by repeated posts in these forums by Photoshop engineering staff urging us, the end users, to let the other teams know in their own forums that a given problem exists and is actually affecting our work.
Enough said about the cause of the problem.  The end result is that Color Management is at very, very different levels of progress and sophistication in each individual point application, with only Photoshop fully entitled to be considered state of the art.
Secondly, a disclaimer:  I have been hanging on to my CRT monitors and take care of them as Jascha Heifetz used to take care of his Stradivarius.  I don't know what I will do if I manage to outlive the usefulness and accuracy of my CRTs (unlikely at this point).  I have despaired in futile efforts to bring the luminosity of any LCD monitor down to where I would feel comfortable calibrating and profiling it.  I believe my monitors are the foundation of my color management efforts.
Especially if you have one of the extreme wide-gamut LCD or LED monitors, you'll face an uphill battle.
Be careful to avoid any version 4 icc profiles, whether canned or generated by your calibration software.  Stick to version2 icc profiles.  Ask the manufacturer of your calibration software/hardware if in doubt.
Here are some not-too-recent, but thoroughly representative screen shots of the calibration results I obtain with my monitors, which I calibrate and profile often and regularly (I validate the calibration at least several times per month).
In a nutshell, my color management practices and settings mirror those described by Bruce Fraser, Jeff Schewe, Andrew Rodney and Gary Ballard's site.  I have learned from all of them.
My working color space is ProPhoto RGB.  I choose to work with PSD and PSB files.  As a long-time, rabid JPEG hater, I only rarely deal with JPEGs, using them sporadically to illustrate a point in this forum or elsewhere in the web.  My main output consists of prints.
I only deal with tagged image files (files with an embedded color profile) and often recommend beating up with a baseball bat any moron that hands you an untagged file—figuratively of course, but I find the expression gets my point across unambiguously.
Following is a screen shot of some of my pertinent settings:
Note that I have never bought into the "suite" concept myself.  I do have and routinely use Adobe Illustrator 10.x, InDesign 2.x and Acrobat Professional 8.x, but they are all older, independent versions of each point application, licensed at different times.
Be further advised, that the answer to many problems offered by Adobe engineers often is not to install VersionCue, or uninstall it, or at least disable it.
Also, as outlined at the beginning of this post, concentrate on Photoshop, not on synchronizing applications that can't really communicate with each other, despite the claims of Adobe marketing hacks to the contrary.
One big caveat, do not fall into this trap:

You either want to learn, or you don't.  You either want to solve your problems, or you don't.
When you start arguing instead of studying, questioning advice instead of following it and detecting where you went wrong, you're on the right track to nowhere.  That attitude will get you there fast.  Remember you are the one with the problem, and only you can acquire the discipline to learn how to solve it.
Go ahead and ask me anything that is not clear, just don't argue with me please, and don't tell me why you think Fraser, Rodney, Ballard and I are wrong.  You see, I am not experiencing any problem that needs fixing.  I have an interest in helping you, but not in hearing about your speculations, theories or conclusions.

  • Printer not printing correct sizes of photos

Canon Pro9000 for some reason does not print photos correctly. I have made all the correct changes on the page setup and no matter what size I choose it prints only a small size photo. If I choose 11 X 14 it prints a photo 7 1/2 X 6. No matter what size paper I choose. It prints well in Easy-PhotoPrint but not in Lightroom 1.4.1 It worked fine before the driver update for Canon Pro9000
    System I'm using is:
    iMac 24"
2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Printer Canon Pro9000
    Adobe Lightroom 1.4.1
    Thank You,
    Mike M.

Had the same problem with Lr 3 and Canon Pro9000.
Flicked the stroke on and off again - for no reason except someone said that worked. Then I used zoom to fit and it worked.
Which is stupid. I am so sick of having to be in problem solving mode all the d**m time.
Next I'll work on the Wacom driver which freezes in Lr3 from time to time - with a complete lack of consistency.
I wonder why software works so badly these days. Shareholders don't care?

    Hi,
First get the backup piece size its trying to allocate for file "/home/oracle/DBBACKUP/Oracle10g1/Full_Backup/DB_Backup_201401128366598241"
    = 12839996*16384
    = 210370494464/1024/1024/1024
    =195.9GB
Its trying to allocate ~196GB for the file.
    1. Make sure the RMAN backup piece won’t exceed the O/S permitted filesize limit.
    2. But we can restrict the RMAN backup piece using the MAXPIECESIZE option.
You restricted it to 120GB but actual requirement to allocate backup piece file is ~196GB.
I think you need to change the MAXPIECESIZE and give it a try.
Please update if it succeeded or failed.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gayu

  • Exporting RAW to JPG Does Not Show JPG After Export

When I export a RAW file that I want to be changed to JPG, the file does not show up in my Lightroom folder until I synchronize the folder that I exported to.  What LR setting is needed so that the exported JPG file will show automatically?

In the Export Location area of the export dialog is a checkbox for Add to this Catalog if you have a newer version of LR.

  • Bug: Exports not generated correctly when Spot Removal brush used in LR5

I have experienced intermittent problems with exports in Lightroom 5.0 when the Spot Removal (clone and heal) brush is used.
One time, I accidentally pasted develop settings from one image into another image. After I performed an undo on the incorrect edits, the incorrect Spot Removal edits still appeared in my exports.
This doesn't happen every time, so I can't give a specific set of circumstances to recreate the problem.
    I am using:
    Lightroom 5.0 64-bit
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    Canon CR2 RAW files
16GB RAM, plenty of local disk space
Note: I have not done extensive testing on this, but many of these files are stored on a network drive, so I don't know if there is some sort of bug in the optimized routines for network drives/folders.

I have the same problem as michaeln2 and adobe 1230931.
    I use Lightroom 4.4.
When I am in the Develop screen and I turn on Soft Proofing, then about 20% of the time the image goes blank.  If I go back to Library view and reenter Devleop, sometimes the image will show up, sometimes not.  If I advance to other images, sometimes they'll show and sometimes not in the Soft Proofing mode.  Sometimes rotating an image in Library mode and going back into Develop "wakes up" the Soft Proofing and sometimes not.
In other words, the soft proofing feature is, as michaeln2 says, functionally useless.  I'm surprised that no fix has been posted on this thread.  No point upgrading to Ver 5 either...as it seems to be buggy there as well.  Help!

  • Trouble exporting photos with correct size

I took some pictures of a friends daughter for her senior pictures and the school has very specific size requirements for photos submitted.  They state they have to be 2.5" high and 2.0" Wide and 300 resolution.
I set these dimensions in the export box under image sizing but when I go back to check the size after export it isn't correct.  The width came over correct but the height comes over at 1.976".  I've tried checking and unchecking the box "don't enlarge" and I get the same result.
I did crop the original photo.

Without seeing the photo, there's no way for us to tell. It may be you need to take another head shot with more "space" around it so the crop will work. Wedding photographers do this all the time, their initial photo has lots of unneeded "space" around the subject so that they can crop at various different aspect ratios.

  • Event Export not working correctly.

I have a simple library, I actually use aperture, but was looking at iPhoto for a client project. I imported 3 folders from the desktop, and it created separate events; which is great. when i export the events as a web page and i open in safari, i only get 2 pages or events. and photos are mixed up between events; they do not reflect the structure in iPhoto.
seems like a big problem...any ideas?
    running iLife 08

    Michael:
What structure did you expect to find? I just tried 3 events to web page and got all of the photos in the chronological order that there were in the 3 events. However they were no indication of Event separation, just the sorting by date.
Have you considered using iWeb to make a photo page and slideshow for the client. Several of the themes are much more professional looking and you can publish it to a folder on the desktop just as the iPhoto export web site is.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Keynote html export not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer

I exported a Keynote presentation to html, uploaded it to my server, and only half of the slide shows in Internet Explorer. Every other browser displays the presenation just fine. Any ideas how to correct the Explorer error?

Hello! I have a real fix to this issue.
Open the the player.js file and find the o an u varibles and hard code a resolution, I chose 1280x1024. Choose anything you want it will all work. There's some issue with the varibles that are being passed because as soon as you hard code a resolution it works across the board... All browsers are good.
    o=document.viewport.getWidth();
    u=document.viewport.getHeight();
are the varibles that you must change... I changed mine to:
    o=1280;
    u=1024;
and it worked like a charm.
    Cheers!

    Hi there,
I just started using CS4, my first simple task already failed. Imoprt / export a video, no editing no rending. This works fine in CS2, the exported video looks exactly like the imported one. Here i have a strange shift in colors (especially red). It looks a little bit like a "glowing".

    CS4 Premiere (4.2.1)
    I have the following sequence:

    CGR
    SMPTE
I don't know how to make this work?
    Thanks in advance*

    HA!
That's a great one to play at Parties!!
BTW - that's a great way to do one-offs of sections you want to send out. HOWEVER - a problem there too - if you have a CLIP selected, FCP won't know if you are exporting that cut or the in/out point. Make sure everything is DE-selected. You'll notice a color shift in the timeline indicating the IN/OUT area when you are good to go.
Glad you fixed, now GET BACK TO WORK!

  • WORKSPACE export not exporting Applications?

When I export my workspace from the admin it doesn't export the applications.
    It only exports the following:

    Any suggestions?

Kyle - Exporting a workspace exports the workspace definition, user groups, and user accounts. The Users Guide explains how to export applications but I'm sure you've done that before.
