Originals naming in dms

Hi all,
I have an issue in SAP DMS, that when I upload the file, the name of file is not appearing and instead of that application name is coming. Is there any program in sap standard which can show the filename and not application name.
Kindly help me out from this issue.
Regards,
Punam

Dear Punam,
the mentioned note 1015165 is useful to get sure that the file name is displayed properly in the original area in the DMS transaction CV02N, CV03N.
However if you upload an original please note that you have to fill the description field as well. This description depends on the logon language. This means if you maintain a description in english and logon in another language the original description is not displayed but the name of the workstation application. So you have to maintain a description for every used logon language. But this can only be done manually if you are logged on in the specific language.
Best regards,
Christoph

  • Exporting originals naming problem.

In exporting original files, I chose to have the originals named with the preset of filename+date+time.  But all of the new file names show 2016 as the year instead of 2015, which is when they were taken and what shows up as the information included in the metadata.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Do you have a workaround?  Currently looks like a flaw in Aperture's preset.

Okay; I didn't read enough of my camera files and settings.  I retract this comment/question since the camera did actually record some of the photos as taken in 2016. So the Date Time preset was working.

  • Import of DIR-Originals

    Hi,
could someone provide me information about the best way to import originals into a DMS?
The DIR will be created by a DOCMAS IDOC. From a migration-project i know that it's possible to send the original-content with the DOCMAS idoc (ALE). In my case the DOCMAS IDOC will be a File.
Thx for your support, regards martin

    Martin,
One option is 3rd party software, can mass-load original files into SAP DMS to existing DIRs, add additional DIR metadata, build document structures (Materials, Doc2Doc links), and even link to other SAP objects (PM, PUR, SD, etc).
If you would like to know more about this, click my name and contact me for some info.

  • Disable AutoCheckin in Easy DMS

    Hello All,
I want to disable the AutoCheckin functionality of originals in Easy DMS. I was reading that it can be done by changing the registry value of parameter 'Disable Autocheckin' from 0 to 1. I am not able to find this parameter in the registry files. Can someone kindly tell me the full path in the regedit as to how to reach this parameter.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    the registry key is:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\EasyDMS\General\DisableAutoCheckin

  • Data loss in original documents

Hi, we are running R/3 46C with DMS.
    Typical functionality is as follows:
Using the online vault (ftp server), we checkin and out the originals from the DMS. We use MS Word/Excel as workstation applications to create/update the originals. e.g. the original is checked-out and opens as a MS Word document within the SAPGUI (Inplace DM configuration). A temporary copy is created on local workstation. Employee then updates the original and does a 'save and exit'. This checks the original back into the vault, deletes the local copy from workstation and exits the transaction.
    The issue is as follows:
Person A opens the original, updates it and saves and exits. Person B (or the same person A) opens the same original document within couple of seconds or so after person A has saved and exited. In this case, person B doesnot see the updated content. So person B has no clue that the content was updated. If person B updates the content and saves it,
the content updated by person A is lost. There seems to be a performance issue resulting in potential data loss. The trace files for sapftp indicate good performance without any timeouts etc. between the workstation and the online vault (ftp server).
Not able to nail the cause. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Nirmal

    Hi Iring,
I appreciate your suggestion. I think I understand it, however, in my case, the issue is after the original is checked into the vault. Once a user has updated the original and checked it into the vault (using 'save and exit' button), the transaction ends successfully, with a message "Document Info record <doc typ> <doc number> changed". This gives an impression that the original has been checked-in and the contents have been saved. If I open the same original within couple of seconds of the first save, the original does show as checked-in. However, intermittently, I would not see the content that was changed as part of the first save.
The ftp log shows no errors and indicates good performance.

  • Migrate DMS DIRS with originals from SAP R/3 4.6 C to ECC6

    Dear All,
I have a requirement to transfer all DMS master data with originals from SAP R/3 4.6C to ECC6. Presently the R/3 4.6 c has 3 instances with 3 different content servers. I have to transfer the master data of all 3 instances in one on ECC6 along with the originals from all 3 content servers.
One way i know is through BDC, but the originals are on the content servers not on the local machine. So kindly suggest me if this can be done through any other method easily.
    Expecting your kind attention.

  • Automatic deletion of temp files and Disabling copy to option of originals in DMS

    Dear DMS Experts,
I have 3 requirements, I have searched the net ,but I am still clueless as to how to do it.
    1) The temporary files created in C;\temp ( or the path we have given in dc20 ) has to be deleted after viewing the documents because of security reasons.
I heard about enabling the OLE2 option in table TDWX, but I am not sure .
    2) The 'copy to' option of originals has to be disabled in display mode ( CV03N ). Adding further, the 'save as' and 'print option' for MS Office applications ( word, excel ) has to be disabled due to security reasons( I tried with both office integration and %AUTO% )
    3) In product browser view ( using folder structure in CV01N ), I need the users to have 'delete link as ' option disabled as they are not supposed to delete the folders created by admin ( Deleting means deleting from the structure and not from the system) . For this, I have given authorization object for bill of materials for the users and disabled 'delete' checkbox as well as 'Delete from database' checkbox . But still, I am able to delete the folders from the structure.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Aravind

    Hi Chandu,
I am still in the dark regarding Q2 and Q3 . Regarding Q2, I tried disabling the check out options and also try opening it in SAP Script or smartform by populating the entries in the originals to the smartform. But still download option is possible. Hence I have raised to SAP service market place.
Regarding Q3 , I am trying to use custom authorization object .

  • Some film rolls are named "originals" - why?

I'm still a fairly new user of Macs as well as anything like iPhoto. For quite some time, I only imported my photos into iPhoto for fear of breaking something.
Well, I'm getting over that fear, and I have noticed that some of my film rolls have a name of "orignals", but some (which do have edited photos in them) don't have that name.
This might be due to some photos possibly being imported more than once (again, possibly from concerns to be certain I could back up my photos), but I'm not 100% certain of that. Is it possible to either get rid of these rolls (but not delete the photos), or to completely rebuild my iPhoto library, without loosing the edits, and metadata I've already configured?
    Mac mini 1.25/512   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Lew,
At one time you probably used the "add to library" and pointed to another iPhoto Library folder to import.
If you did that, then what you would get is:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
So, if you don't want the images that are in the Original rolls, as they are the originals of edited or rotated images, then just delete them. If you still want a copy of them for safe keeping then drag the images or the roll called Originals out of the iPhoto library window to your desktop, then delete the roll within iPhoto. You can burn the ones to disc on your desktop if you'd like.
    Or:
you can combine images from that roll to another roll with the edited images in them if you like.
To create a new film roll, command click each image or roll of images or combination of both, then go to File>create film roll.
This will create a new film roll containing all the images you selected.

  • DMS Originals

    Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I've read through hundred's of posts now and spent all day trying to solve this issue.
I know it's something stupid I'm missing but just can't find it.........
I have two Document Types SPC (Specifications) and HAS (Health and Safety).
SPC is setup and working with no issues, I can check documents in and send them out on review with no workflow issues.  However I've used SPC as a template for HAS and on creation of document type HAS everything looks fine apart from the Originals section/tab is not available on document type HAS.
Can someone please tell me what it is I'm missing that makes the oringials tab or section at the bottom of the screen on CV01N not appear.
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
You have missed the "WS Application 1" & "WS Application 2" while configuring document types. Keep these two fields blank and you will get these fields in dms screen for attaching originals.
I hope this will resolve the query.

  • DMS originals distribution by fax

    Hello!
When I try to distribute DMS (CVI8) using fax as distribution type, no originals are distributed - only cover page is received.
    I tried different file formats.
I put * as "workstation application".
I didn't find any relevant SAPNotes or Help topics.
Does anyone have an idea what can be wrong?
    Thank you in advance!

  • DMS - need to check out originals using BSP

    Hi,
I am trying to check out DMS originals through a BSP application. For this purpose, I use the function module '‘BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2’'. When this FM is used in a SAP GUI report program, the originals are checked out into the TEMP directory. But when the same FM is used in a BSP application, the FM fails with the exception 'Document Program not started via RFC. No return possible'.
Alternatively, I tried using the method 'checkoutview' (in the class 'cl_incl_doc_files'). The method executes without any error, but it does not check out the originals. The original is not available in the 'TEMP' directory. Will this method check out originals to the 'TEMP' directory?? If so, is there any specific thing that needs to be set? Have anyone tried using this?
My requirement is that the originals need to be downloaded to the local machine.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Vidhya.

    Dear Pranav,
I checked these settings. They are already maintained in SM59. Still it is not working out. I tested the connection also and it is fine. What else could be the reason??
I am also trying an alternate method. I am first downloading the contents of the file (in binary format) into an internal table using the function module 'SDOK_PHIO_LOAD_CONTENT'. Then, by calling the function module 'GUI_DOWNLOAD', I try to download it as a PDF file. Again, when I try this in a report program, it is successful .When the function 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' (or the method 'cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download') is called from a BSP application, it throws the exception 'CONTROL_FLUSH_ERROR'. Is it because through BSP application we cannot download to the local machine?? Is there any other way to achieve this?? I tried all possible ways. In no method, I get full solution.
This is urgent. Highly appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Vidhya.

  • Search for a function module for deleting document originals (DMS)

    Hi,
I'm searching for a function module to delete originals in documents (like manually with transaction cv02n). I'm only able to set an delete mark with the module 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_DELETE'.
The module 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHANGE2' can only add new originals to an existing document. I need a possibility to delete all originals in an document without deleting the document itself.
    Has anyone an idea?
    Thanks.

    Many thanks!
That's especially the method I've searched for so long....

  • DMS: Print mutiple Documents(originals)  through CV04n List of DIRS directl

    Hi All,
Is it possible to Print Multiple documents through cv04n list of douments, i.e i will select the documents from the list, say 10 documents & click on the print tab. When i tried it prints only the frist document(original), how can print the all selected documents in one go.
Is there any config or any userexist & badi for that?
    Help will be appriciated.
    Regards
    Nishant..

    Hi Nishant,
Multiple originals printing is not possible in std SAP, since it involves Multiple application types (like cad, word, excel) and multiple drawing sheet sizes (A3&A4).
You need to go for a third party software which provides this solution and support. You can be in touch with following solution providers.
    1. Cideon (http://cideon.de/cideon/en/so/index.php)
    2. Seal systems. (http://www.sealsystems.de/com/outputman/engineering_printing.php)
Send me your email ID, i can send few documents.

  • Enabling Automatic Check In of Originals in DMS

Can anyone help me get this working in DMS? When creating the DIR from CV01N I would like the original to be automatically checked in. It looks like there is a setting in the status to do this but I can't get it working. It looks like it depends on the profile but that doesn't work for me either. It does work for me when I have a document type with the fast check-in enabled and I do fast check-in. But for the CV01N transaction you still have to click the check-in button. Can anyone help me get an auto check in feature working?

in customizing of PLM you may customize the status network in that way that you set a status type C like check-in for the status where you want to check-in the document.

  • DMS: Checkin Originals in Background

    Hello,
I am using <b>'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2'</b> to create document and checkin original files. BAPI is working fine via SE37 with the file on my PC (C:\temp\file.doc).  But, when I call call this BAPI from portal, document checkin is not happening, I think this is due to the  file path (C:\temp\file.doc) is not recognized when the BAPI is executed in the backend.  How do I checkin a file in background from portal? Do I need to specify any other parameters to the BAPI? or do I have to do anything on portal? If I call a BAPI from Portal, where this RFC is executed in the background?
    Any ideas?
    Thank You,
    Chandra

Any Suggestions? Pls share with me.
