Orion shows 3750 port speed changes - is it normal?

Hi all,
We use Orion for monitoring.  We recently started monitoring a workstation switch and find many occurances of port speed changes indicated.  Our workstation ports are configured with auto speed and duplex.  Is it normal that we are detecting speed changes on the ports?  Do workstations running XP automatically adjust their speed for traffic management or power save?  Perhaps something like speeds changing when PC goes to sleep mode but has wake on LAN enabled?  Is it possible that the MIB is misreporting?
I realize that there are many different NIC vendors/drivers that might act differently.  Just wondering (in others experience) if it is somewhat normal or if there is anything on network I should be looking into as to why speeds are changing?  We plan to not monitor workstation ports (only uplinks) on the switch.. but before we do, I thought I would see if what we are detecting needs to be addressed?
Here is an example from Orion of a speed changing.  Seems always off hours:

Thanks in advance for any experienced feedback.

Ours does it all the time for some reason.  We presume it's due to the port negotiating speed during PC boot from 100mb to 1g, but never really followed up.

  • Change WLC 5508 port speed

I connect a copper SFP on port 2 of WLC 5508 to a ASA 5510 firewall.  The links between two devices are down.  Since ASA 5510 only support 100 full, how do I change port speed on port 2 to 100.
    Thanks

Does this mean, I couldn't change port speed on the WLC?
Yes you can.  You can change the speed setting to GIGABIT, nothing less.
Why do I need to buy another Gigbit switch for 2 connection?
What do you mean by "another"????   Do you have an existing GigabitEthernet switch that you can connect the WLC into?
You need a GigabitEthernet port to connect the WLC's GigabitEthernet port.  And then you can have a FastEthernet port to connect the SAME SWITCH to your ASA.
    WLC --- (1000BaseTx) --- Switch --- (10/100BaseTx) --- ASA
Does this make sense to you?

  • Changing Catalyst 3750 Console Speed

Does anyone know if the console speed of a Catalyst 3750 can be changed? The switch does not have a valid IOS image installed and the only prompt accessible is the Switch: recovery console prompt. Before using the xmodem I am hoping there is a way to increase the baud rate to speed things up a bit.

  • [Forum FAQ] Configuration Manager Console shows nothing if you change SSRS to using SSL after Reporting Service Point is installed

If the SSRS is changed to SSL mode and http binding is removed after Reporting Service Point is installed. The Configuration Manager Console shows nothing in Reporting Pane. After digging into this problem, the cause is that the SSRS information has not
been updated in Configuration Manager Database. The following steps are taken for finding the root cause.
    1. After changing to SSL, the Reporting Service Point log shows the error as shown in Figure 1.
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.
(!) SRS not detected as running
Failures reported during periodic health check by the SRS Server DB2.SCJIZHO.COM.
    Figure 1
From the error, seems the cause was the Reporting Service Point detected a wrong port. We digged around in Registry and found the information is a Registry key named ReportServerUri at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP. After changing the Report
Server address to https. The error is gone as shown in Figure 2. But the issue remains, the Console still shows nothing. It is not a right direction.
    Figure 2
    2. Open the Console log file, it also shows some valuable information.
    instance of __ExtendedStatus
                    Operation = "ExecQuery";
                    ParameterInfo = "SELECT * FROM SMS_Site WHERE SiteCode = 'PRI'";
                    ProviderName = "WinMgmt";

[52, PID:3136][05/11/2014 20:14:15] :[ReportProxy] - User-specified default Reporting Point [PRI.scjizho.com] could not be found, [DB2.scjizho.com] is now the default Reporting Point (Figure 3).
    Figure 3
It seems the Console wants to access the old http site and it fails to get into the site for sure. Actually, the Site Configuration information is come from Site Control File and as we all know that ConfigMgr 2012 doesn’t store the Site Control file in the
file system. However, it’s stored in the SQL database (as XML file). The XML file is stored in a view named vSMS_SC_SiteControlXML. This view is a read-only view. We cannot edit it directly. The related table stored the SSRS information for this view is SC_SysResUse_Property.
Running the following query will list the SSRS address. We can see the address is still the old one. This is why the Console shows nothing.
    SELECT
    name,
    value2
    FROM dbo.SC_SysResUse_Property
    where name
    ='ReportServerUri'
    or name=
    'ReportManagerUri'
    Remarks:
This article is just to let you know why the Console cannot show the Reports after changing to SSL mode. We do not intend to make you change the table in Database, if you want to change it, you will be at your own risk. The real solution to this situation
is to reinstall your Reporting Service Point.

Ok, but how do you solve this problem? Does uninstalling the RP and adding it back solve this problem?

  • How do You Make Accurate Speed Changes To Clips?

How do you apply a speed change to an audio clip in with frame accuracy? I have 2 audio clips, one from a camera and the other from a cheap solid-state recorder. The latter has audio drift and needs a one-off, constant adjustment to sync it with the camera audio.
However, FCP only wants to execute clip speed changes down to 1/10th of 1%, which is not small enough. Does anyone know what to do here - either within FCP or Sountrack Pro? Thanks.

I just know that often when capturing long segments of DV tape for our shows, we occasionally get a clip that comes in at 47.998 or 48.002, instead of the solid 48kHz.
When I export to aiff, it seems to clear up any sync drifting we experience with the original clips.
    Might give it a go.
STPro is a solid option as others pointed out. I simply suggested a quick fix to a possible sync/drift issue. (quicker than learning a new interface...though that's something that should be done anyway, for the tools STPro offers).

  • Nexus 2248TP port speed and duplexing

    Hello Forum Team!
In order to configure the port speed and duplexing (change to 100Mbps/Full-duplex from auto mode) on a Nexus 2248TP interface, does the port needs to be down,.i.e, no link?
Thanks in advanced for your support!

    Hello and thanks for reply;
I was trying to configure port speed and duplexing on a 2148. This FEX model only works at 1000Mbps as I later found out on the documentation.
    Thanks again for your support.

  • EA2700 WAN Port Speed

I just bought an EA2700. The diagnostic says that the WAN port speed is 1 Gigabit. Speedtest however reveals max 85 Mbit throughput which makes me believe that is just Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit). My internet provider delivers 120 Mbit down speed and I would like to get full speed, what is wrong?

  • Compressor encoded speed change clip with echo as motorboat sound

Took me two days to troubleshoot, through trial and error and process of elimination, why Compressor encoded an audio clip that had been speed changed and echo applied to it -- as rapid MOTORBOAT sound! Project is a 5.1 mix. Since STP3 won’t accept speed change clips, after I completed mix in STP I placed speed changed clips on FCP timeline below the exported STP 5.1 mix with the FCP audio tracks for that clip assigned to channels 1 & 2 for the fronts and channels 5 & 6 for the rears. The clip on 5 & 6 was duplicated and identical in every way to the clip on channels 1 & 2. Only the dupe clip on 5 & 6 did Compressor encode as motorboat. The identical clip on 1 & 2 encoded correctly. Both clips were set to play at same time since I wanted the effect to be on fronts and rears simultaneously. I could not get the motorboat sound to play back from either FCP timeline or Compressor preview window. Only after encode and burn to DVD did it show up. Why would Compressor introduce such artifacts on one of the clips and not both – if it’s going to do it at all – which it shouldn’t? Any ideas? I have other such effects throughout the project where I duped a speed changed clip with an effect applied to it and set it to play on fronts and rears simultaneously and Compressor encoded those correctly.

Well, it's a little late, but this is one of the reasons to have your startup drive cloned so you can restore it to a working state if an update, upgrade or install sends things south.

Have you tried resetting your fcp preferences

If this doesn't fix the problem, you could try sending the shot to motion.  You could aslo try changing the speed in the motion tab of the viewer.

  • IMovie Speed Change.. Again? I know :(

I've been looking some topics about speed change and to do that iMovie has to convert the clip thus this will severely kills the quality of the footage.
But one thing I don't understand is, my camera, NEX-3 records 29.97 fps but even then it needs to be converted. Why is this? As far as I understand, if your footage is in NTSC frame rate, it doesn't need to be converted?
I also did try to do color grading in Adobe After Effects and export it in 30fps in Apple Intermediate Codec, still, it needs to be converted by iMovie before I can alter the speed.
Anyone knows the workaround? Maybe what codec / frame rate that I need to convert it to, before importing it into iMovie? Thanks.

  • Upload speed change

I am on the cusp of switching to BT from Tiscali / Talk Talk.  Until not so long ago both BT and TT showed estimated 26Meg download and BT 10 Meg upload. (Consider I get 3 / 0.8 now)  TT were only 2 Meg upload (although they do not publicise this) hence the impending move.  However, now both BT and TT show 34 Meg down (Hooray!) but BT has dropped to 6Meg down.  I see several posts about speed changes so wondered what was happening?  Is this a deliberate switch  to give faster download speed at the expense of upload?  I know upload speed is less critical for most users inlcuding me, but x5 was a huge difference. x3 is still big but makes the hassle of changing ISPs / email addresses less attractive.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Due to the way the frequency bands are utilised I think that with the recent profile change (from 8c to 17a) some predictions do have a slight reduction in upload but an increase in download. Unless you're a super heavy uploader you won't see that much different between 6meg and 10meg

  • How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

  • How to offset speed change in frame rate conforming?

Hi all. I am conforming video from about 25fps to 30 fps in cinema tools, before editing in FCP. Does any one know of a formula, or calculator tool that would tell me the speed change percentage to use, to get the clip to play in normal speed while editing? Is there a setting to do this automatically in FCP?

And you needn't speed change the footage at all. Simply cutting 25fps footage into a 30fps timeline will do. If you really desire a formula, to convert 25 fps to 30, you need to run it slower (less frames) so the speed is 25/30 or 5/6ths or 83% - to do it the other way, 30/25 = 6/5ths or 120%.
But, like I said, if you cut PAL footage into an NTSC timeline, it will adjust the speed appropriately - sizing too...

  • Upgrade and plug ins migration ? speed changes and transitions to motion 3

I have the FCS2 upgrade on its way soon i hope..
will my natress plug ins and others migrate when i go from FCS1 to 2?
I am mid project - have done all my captures but havent got into the nitty gritty of the edit yet - you reckon its a bit risky to upgrade?
I am super keen to get the ability to easily do ramps (in Motion 3 or in FC 6) and 3d logo fly arounds. Looking fwd to being able to throw transitions and speed changes into Motion 3 - i hear that it can deal with that now - is this true?

    Thanks - thats all good
