Orphan folder?  Help!

I have create a business folder containing many folders.
When I sign into reports, I see all the folders in that business folder except one! How can I get that folder to appear.
It's weird. I have gone into tool/manage folders....nothing.
I have gone into tool on the report side and made sure I was logged in correctly...everything checks. How can I possibly see all the folders except one?
Doesn't make sense.
Any help is appreciated.

Javiar, try refreshing the folder. To do this, you should be in the admin too. Click on the folder you want to refresh. Hold the control key down and press R. This will bring up the refresh from database dialogue.
You want to be sure to read all of the dialogues. Particulary the ones related to the differences found.
It is quite possible that the underlying object is changed or if it is a view, that the view is invalid. This should high-lite the problem. You can select cancel from this dialoque to repair the view if necessary or change properties in Discovere to point to appropriate columns.

    Open up terminal and type
" sudo rm -rf downloads/ " provided you have nothing inside the downloads folder, not even empty folders
you will then have to hit enter, and then your password, and hit enter again
that will remove the downloads directory

  • Boot camp restart gets stuck on apple logo/prohibited logo/? folder help

    Hello,
I'm currently running OS X (lion) and I'm trying to install windows 7 via boot camp assistant. After creating a Win7 install disk via a bootable USB flash drive and creating my partition via the assistant. The computer restarts and goes into the load screen instead of the windows install process. It then flips between the Apple logo, Prohibited logo, and ? file not found folder. Could some one help me out and let me know whats going on. Thanks in advance!  (I would try to install it via CD/DVD but the drive doesn't work.)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, you can't install Windows from an USB drive on a Mac with the SuperDrive. To start on OS X, press Option key while the Mac is starting and select Macintosh HD. Finally, open Boot Camp Assistant to delete the Boot Camp volume and take the Mac to an Apple Store to get the SuperDrive repaired

  • Self-replicating PDF and jpeg files in my Library Mail folder--help!

I've been to the Genius bar twice, just wiped my computer clean--and still my computer self-replicates PDF, documents, gif and jpeg files that exist on my hard drive in the Library-Mail folder every time I open the Mail program! The same ones, over and over--to the tune of about a half a gig of space every two days!
I haven't seen anything on the Internet that relates to this specific issue--and at the Apple store, they had no idea how to help me.
    HELP?
    Thank you!

    Scott (et al),
Please look in your Library folder (in your HOME folder) for a "Mail Downloads" folder. If it exists, drag it out to your Desktop, then replace it with a new folder of the same name. To be clear, you will drag the current "Mail Downloads" folder to your Desktop, then you will create a new folder in your Library folder. You will name the new folder "Mail Downloads."
If the folder does not exist in your Library folder, create it yourself. Create a new folder in your Library folder, then name it "Mail Downloads."
Try whatever is applicable to you, then test for the creation of these duplicate files in your "Mail" folder.

  • Write/Read Permissions in temp folder - Help!

Hello, I was playing with settings when I accidentally changed my write permissions in a temp folder and changed all of my user permissions. None of my programs work anymore except for my default programs. Can someone help me figure out how to undo this stupid mistake?
    Stupid and Disgruntled

I can't initiate any downloads for registry fixes. Just another thing I'm having trouble with. I guess it's not surprising since my temporary folder seems to be the root of all these problems.
    The list of broken things;
    directory modifications
    adobe suite
    microsoft office suite
web browsers (except for internet explorer)
     - limited functioning (downloads won't initiate)

  • Added podcasts disappear from ipod's podcast folder, HELP!!

I've have a G4 ipod and i updated all my Itunes ad ipod a while back and have been using the new pocast features, but when i conected to a older version of itunes on another computer my pobcast folder turned into a normal playlist and wont change back so all my podcasts are fine but not in the podcast folder. how do i get them to go back into the podcast folder, please help me out.

It sounds like you use the Sync function to update your iPod (that is the best way). There is a setting which controls which Podcasts stay on your iPod, and it's this you need to change.
Connect the iPod to your computer. Highlight the device <your iPod> (left hand side bar) and then click on the Podcasts tab. On that tab, change the various options to the one you want. It probably says "Keep all unplayed episodes" which means it will remove a Podcast from your iPod when you have listened to/watched it.
Change these settings to (for instance) "Keep all episodes" or "keep last x episodes". (I'm currently using my laptop which does not have my iTunes installed so I may have the actual wording wrong - but I hope you get my drift.)

  • ITunes music folder help

I have been trying to save space on my laptops small hardrive by telling iTunes to put my music folder in an external hardrive that I have connected. My problem is that I accidentally deleted my music a while ago and in an effort to try and get it back into iTunes through an iPod ripping application for some reason iTunes made another iTunes music folder in my "my music" folder. I just want to be able to listen to my music in iTunes and preferably be able to automatically update my iPod still without it taking up my regular hardrive space.
I am also wondering if there is a way to export whole playlists from my iPod into iTunes without using iPod ripping software because it will duplicate all of my songs that way.
Thank you for any and all suggestions.

I had the same problem you are having a year or so ago. I was transferring my music from a shared folder through a network. I copied the contents of the folder with the music into it and I had to locate everything manually. I can't guarantee that thie will oslve your problem because I never tried it, but maybe if you copy all of your music to your existing iTunes music folder first and then copy the music from the iTunes music folder it might work. I'm not sure exactly where your music is stored now, but if it is somewhere else than the iTunes music folder created by iTunes this could work. Before you copy the music though you will want to delete everything in your existing library (make sure you keep the files though when it asks) so that you don't have a bunch of duplicates. I hope this helps.

  • Private Folder Help (Again...)

Yes, I did it and now I am trying to recover my private folder from the trash. I have read several posts on here and other sites about how to move it from terminal and I can't seem to make it work. VK's help seems good and logical, but I am not sure why it is not working for me. I have verified that the private folder is in the trash via terminal and tried to move it with this command:
    cp -rf /volumes/"mac hd"/users/arron/.trash/private /volumes/"mac hd"
"mac hd" is the name of my drive and arron is my user folder. This should work but all I keep getting is:
cp: /volumes/mac hd/private/var/vm/swapfile2: no such file or directory
Why is that? I can look into volumes/"mac hd"/users/arron/trash, so why can't I seem to move it?
    Thanks for your help all!

cp: /volumes/mac hd/private/var/vm/swapfile2: no such file or directory
This doesn't make sense to me. I suggest you use *disk utility* to verify the file system. Perhaps the disk has become corrupted.
Why don't you do this from the finder? You can see hidden file in the finder.
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
*Show hidden files & folders in finder*
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE ;killall Finder
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
*Normal display. Hide hidden files & folders in finder*
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE ;killall Finder

    /volumes/"mac hd"/newName
I like the ditto command for copying files.
*Here is an overview of the commands.*
Lets assume that the problem account has a short user name of mac.
    #Copy directory "/Applications/Applescript files" to
    # directory "/Volumes/Spotless/Applescript files".
    # "Spotless" is my flash drive.
    ditto -X -rsrc /Applications/Applescript\ files /Volumes/Spotless/Applescript\ files
    #cd is change directory
    cd /Volumes/COPYIT/answers/
    # pwd is print working directory
    pwd
#the ls command is for list
    # l is long
    # F is type of file where / is directory
sh-2.05b# # Please note ls is the list command. l is a lower case L
    sh-2.05b# ls -lF
Here is what these commands mean:
    cd is change directory
pwd is a print working directory
    ls is list
    sudo is Super user do
    cp is copy
    copy a file example:
    sh-2.05b#
    sh-2.05b# cd /Volumes/Macintosh-HD/Users/mac/desktop
    sh-2.05b# pwd
    /Volumes/Macintosh-HD/Users/mac/desktop
    sh-2.05b# cp -i answers.txt /Volumes/SpotMore
Will copy the file answers.txt in the directory SpotMore.
Some files have a space in the name. You need to escape. see example:
    mac $ ls -l ~/"see it"
    -rw-r--r-- 1 mac staff 3171 Oct 26 23:38 /Users/mac/see it
    mac $
    mac $ cd /Users/mac/Desktop/ttt\ html\ copy/
Do you know about tabing? Type in a few letters of a name then press the tab key. The computer will type out the rest of the name if it is unique.
The up arrow key will retrive the previous command. You the left arror and right arror keys to move around. Use the delete key to delete a character to the left.

  • Email Folder Help

Not sure what happen but as of last Friday, I am no longer able to see any emails that were in my inbox or in any subfolders within Outlook.  I talked to my IT department today and they are still researching it but I figured I would turn here for help.  I have emails in my inbox older than last Friday in my inbox that I can't see which is no big deal but I have a major issues with my folders.  All the folders still show-up when I view the folders but none of the emails that are in the folders will show-up.  Is there a setting I need to change or what.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So when you look in your Messages icon you don't see any new emails?
You can check the folder redirection settings on the BlackBerry. But if it's turned off, then only new emails you put in the folders will show up when you use the View Folder command. Check out this KB article to see how to check that setting

  • Home Folder Help

    Hi all...
Okay, so I need a quick fix on something until I can get it fixed properly. Basically, I accidentally created another home folder in my users directory. I fixed everything I could, but Safari is still grabbing preferences from the old home directory.
For example, every time I open safari I change the homepage default. But each time I restart my computer it reverts to the orginal homepage default (apple.com.)
Here's the thing: I want to change the place safari draws its preferences from. I need to point Safari to my new home folder, not the old one. Is there any way to do this? Doesn't seem to be anything in preferences.
I plan to take the whole thing to the mac store and have them help me resolve it. Until then, though, I'd like to do something to fix it!
Thanks in advance for any advice!

    The solution method is here:
Recover from renaming your Home folder.
Also, see Recover from renaming your Home folder.
If you get straightened out and still wish to change your Home folder's name, then read this article:

  • Lost folder. help

i dropped a folder in the pictures section in finder but it disappeared. right before i dropped an icon of a cloud or something appeared and then the folder was gone. i checked in finder and it wasn't anywhere. it isn't in trash either. anyone know how to retrieve the folder ?

Enter the name of the folder in the Spotlight search, and see if the Spotlight search results will help you locate where the folder went.
The usual reason for that particular icon — an animation of something disappearing — is something that was dragged off of the Dock.  Was the Dock the source of the drag-and-drop?  If so, then the folder likely still exists in its original location.

    Hi...
Backup your data on a pc with an adapter. Reformat your card and it will build the folders.
Or, you can mount the card on a PC and create the folder and see if it works.

  • Accidentally moved a folder-help

I am running Windows XP and use Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 to download & view my pictures from my camera's memory card. I was trying to put some pictures on a cd (using Windows Explorer) and accidentally moved a picture folder (I'll call it Beach) into another picture folder (I'll call it Sports). The "Beach" folder shows up in the "Sports" folder but properties show that the "Beach" folder is empty. When I go to view the photos in Adobe, I see the annoying red reconnect symbol in the "Beach" folder and I cannot view the photos at all. I have read the forums and see that others have had this problem but cannot seem to find a solution. I have tried right clicking a picture in the folder and selecting "reconnect". It then searches forever and comes up with another box that says "The source file(s) you've selected annot be found at the locations stored in the catalog. They may have been moved and/or renamed. Please reconnect these catalog items to their source files." I can't reconnect the files because the "Beach" folder is empty. I didn't delete anything, but the folder is still empty. I know this is lengthy but was hoping if I gave enough info that someone would be able to help... Any suggestions?

Somehow, when you moved the Beach folder into the Sports folder, the images
seem to have been deleted. (I'm assuming here that you've opened up the
    Beach folder and it's empty)
I hate to say it, but you may be out of luck. There's nothing Starter
Edition can do to help. It thinks the photos are in Beach, but they are not
there. The image that you are seeing in Starter Edition is just a low
resolution thumbnail copy that SE made when you first imported the photos.
It does not actually manage or keep the real image file. That's Windows job.
About the only thing to do at this point is use Window Search to search you
entire hard drive for the photos. Pick one of them, get the filename, and
search for it. If you find one, chances are the rest of them will be there.
    Good luck
    Bob
