Orphan Menu Start Playing Timeline First Chapter

Hi All,
My Problem is i cant figure out where i am doing wrong.
I have single timeline in my dvd project I import menu
from the Encore Library did not set any action (mean the menu
is orphan)when ever i preview from here it start playing timeline
from the first chapter after 2 seconds.
I tried several menues from the library but having same
problem. when i check the project it shows error "orpahn menu"
which is correct as i did not do any routing to any menu.
(I am doing it with the help of Total Training Video step by step)
Did anyone else have the similar problem.

Lets forget about Preview for a moment. Well get back to it, but not until youve done what follows. I want to make sure that I know what you have, what youve done and what you want with your DVD.
Tell me if I am correct:
1.) You have a DV-AVI file that you Imported (either as a Timeline, or created a Timeline from it). It was done/Imported first. This will automatically place it as Play First in the Flowchart.
2.) You have a Menu that you Imported as Menu from either the Library or from elsewhere on your system. It has one Button. It now appears in the orphanage in the Flowchart.
Right now, in the Flowchart Panel, you have the Disc icon (DVD Project, or whatever new name you gave it) with a black line going to the Timeline. You also have your Menu in the orphanage. Is this correct?
You want this Menu to Play First, and then after a point in time to go automatically to your Timeline, or if the user pushes that one Button to go immediately to that Timeline. Is this correct?
If so, hover your mouse cursor over the Disc icon. It will turn into the Pickwhip (little curleque icon). Drag this down to your Menu in the orphanage. It will replace your Timeline as Play First. There will be a little box below your Menu and it will say Button 1 (unless you changed its name). From this little box below your menu (remember, we are still in the Flowchart Panel), when you hover the mouse cursor over it, youll get the Pickwhip again. Drag it to your Timeline.
Now, in your Flowchart, dbl-click on your Menu. Open the Properties Tab and look down to Duration (third line down). Set it to the length of time* that you want the Menu to be visible (unless the user hits the button). Uncheck Hold Forever. Loop Point should be set to None.
Your Flowchart should now have the Disc icon with a black line to your Menu. There should be one blue line from the Menu Button 1 to the Timeline. This is what you want.
Now, Preview the Project. I usually do this from the File>Preview on the Menu Bar at the top of the workspace. Alt-Ctrl-Spacebar will also do it. Your Preview should show the Menu, which will automatically go to the Timeline after the length of time you specified in the Properties Panel, unless you hit this Button before that time. Does this work?
* Duration is Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames

I pause the song, and it resumes it on its own again. I'm not joking. So, I end up quiting out of itunes; but, it starts right back up again on its own. After quiting out of the app a few times, it eventually stops reopening; however, about an hour later (or less) it opens again. HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP? I'm just about to delete itunes, because I've had enough of this crap. I hope someone can help. I've restarted the laptop, and it seemed like that fixed it, then itunes started up doing the same thing again an hour later. ituneshelper is unchecked; bluetooth is off; i only have speakers and a mouse plugged in (also charger).

Read this Apple Discussion Thread and possible solutions. The audio jack has been the main culprit, also certain sync and automation settings including connected remotes.

Menu only recognizes the first chapter - others default to it...

Hello all,
I am using the wedding-looking theme where boxes that hold images slide in from the right and simulated snow/flakes fall. Project is from FCE and pressing any chapter on either menu plays the movie from the firs chapter not where it should play from. It only recognizes the first chapter not the others.
I have never seen this one before - a new feature of iDVD
Any suggestions ?

No, but it is a bug. If you make ANY edits to your movie, no matter how small, after putting it into your iDVD project, iDVD will not play the chapters properly. You cannot determine this beforehand. iDVD appears to recognize that you have made edits and will give you a message that 'assets have changed' and will ask if yo want to update. Of course, you opt for that, and all appears fine until you either preview the movie in iDVD or burn it to a disk and see that the chapters do not play correctly.
The usual problem is just what you describe: the chapter(scene) selections default to the same one, usually the one closest to your edit, but not always. This problem occurs in a movie with chapters; I think it is not a problem in a movie without chapters. Additionally, I have made an edit in one of the last clips of my movie, and that has been made without the chapter problem.
There is no 'fix' for this problem/bug. You must start over and create a new iDVD project. Then, be certain that your movie is completely edited. Once you put it in iDVD, do NOT make any changes to it at all. It should burn fine this time.
Please post back if this explanation does not address your problem.

DVDSP 4 only plays movie up to first chapter

When "I select play movie" it will only play the first chapter. I have check many times and the asset is the entire movie. I've deleted the movie re-added it and reset the chapter markers- still only plays to the first chapter. Is something corrupt possibly...

Why do you have Chapter End Jumps? There's rarely a need for it. Take those out! If you need to play individual chapters use the story function instead.
It could be a corrupt stream...hard to say. What was your bitrates? Often folks crank up the bitrates on the encodes thinking more is better. DVD has a strict ceiling (9.8 mb/s) even short spikes above this will cause players to choke. Also audio can be a major issue. Always use AC3 audio with its lower bitrate. Could be the media as well.
Do some tests. Use a bitrate for DVD calculator to determine what your best bitrate should be based on the length of the program. This should always be the first step in any DVD project! Also use AC3 audio as well and another batch of GOOD media.

Itunes no longer plays the first CD track etc. while importing?

Now when I start importing from a CD Itunes no longer starts playing the first track after it has downloaded and the second track begins downloading. I can't see a switch or button that has shut that feature off but Itunes used to play it without being prompted but no longer does. What am I missing?

Just in case you haven't found the answer to your question in other postings, what works is to open the Terminal (found in Apps>Utilities) and type in : -
defaults write com.apple.iTunes play-songs-while-importing -bool TRUE
Hit return and then close the Terminal. The next time you open iTunes it should play again as you import cds.
I guess it's all part of the "Macs are easier to use" policy of Apple :o)

ITunes 12 starts playing by itself

I'm running iTunes 12.1.0 and since 12 it's started playing automatically in the background. If I have movies open in iTunes it'll start playing the first movie, if it's music then it'll start playing the first song etc. Can't figure this out. It seems like it's a long running issue with iTunes but haven't found a conclusive solution.
I'm on a MbP Retina mid 2012 running 10.10.2.

This started happening the other day. It seems to have been triggered when I clicked on a sound clip on a birdwatching site. Since then, iTunes has suddenly started to play on three occasions after I gave permission for a website to use Adobe Flash. iTunes wasn't even open. Interestingly, I found that the original birdcall I clicked on has been added to my iTunes library, something I didn't want. I can't figure this out.

ITunes automatically starts playing when I get in my car

I drive a Ford with Sync. I have my iPhone 3GS set to automatically connect to the bluetooth in the car when the car is started. In the past few weeks, I noticed my iTunes was automatically starting when it connected with the Bluetooth. It doesn't play through the car, so I don't know its happening unless I look at the phone and see iTunes playing music.
Is there a way to stop it from doing that? Its draining my battery.

I too have this problem, though not with bluetooth. For me the auto-play starts as soon as I connect my iPhone 4S to the radio with a cable I connect to the AV 1/8" port in the center console of my 2007 Honda Accord. Not only does it start auto-playing as soon as I connect the cable, it also immediately starts playing the first music file in my phone as soon as whatever podcast I am listening to has ended
Like others, I find this really annoying, but also a little dangerous. Because some engineer thought that auto-playing the first music file on a device was what most people would want to have happen, I now have to either (1) think ahead to select and pause my podcast or song prior to connecting the cable, or (2) scramble around to stop the auto-playing file while I am driving. This is hampered by the fact that the auto=play does not instantiate Music when it auto-plays, so I have to locate and start up Music and go to Now Playing before I can stop the file from playing.
I do not believe, however, that this is Apple's fault. On no other device anywhere does this auto-play occur except in my Accord. On the other hand, I see people in this thread with the same problem driving cars other than the Accord. This could just be something I need to work around. A bummer, but definitely a First World problem.

Re-start to the first song

Sometimes, my iPod video shuts down and starts playing the first song on Playlist (when it's playing or turned off). I think it's as the result of updating to 1.1 version, but I'm not sure.

I made menu but it plays the first video clip and no autostart

Hi all,
I created a dvd today with a menu, but instead of starting at the menu and letting you choose it automatically plays the first clip when you play the dvd. And when I put the dvd in a dvd player it doesn't automatically play the dvd menu or anything until I hit play and when I hit play it plays the first clip.
So two questions:
First how do I make the dvd play the menu when I put it in a dvd player instead of the first video clip?
Second question how do I make the dvd play automatically the dvd menu instead of the first clip when I put it in the dvd player instead of it having me press play for it to start?

Do you by any chance know where that would be located? I think it actually told me that I didn't have anything selected but I don't even know where on the program I go to change it. Do you know which menu item it would be under? I don't have the program with me so I'll have to do it tomorrow but either way thanks I just want to have it done bye tomorrow morning since I'll have to hand it in during the afternoon.

Scene selection only allows first chapter to play in previews

In the scene selection screen, iDVD will show each chapter in the movie and allows you to play a short movie clip as a preview. I would think that each chapter would allow you to play a portion of video from that chapter. But instead, iDVD only allows you to play a clip from chapter 1 in all the chapters. That makes no sense. What am I missing here?

I have same problem. In test mode, clicking on each chapter starts a relevant time in the main movie. But on a burned project only first chapter works, other just loop but when clicked on, nothing happens. Any help around?

You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it. After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again. As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

"Not permitted" access to DVD menu once DVD starts playing --Mac DVD player

DVD works fine on standalone DVD player, but when played on an internal Mac DVD player, it won't allow me to stop the disc and go to the menu once it has started playing. It says "Not Permitted." I've tried a couple different macs.
I made my video in FCP5 with chapters and exported as MPEG2 via compressor to DSP 3.0.2. I need the chapters to work correctly on a Mac DVD player as it is an instructional video which will accompany all the Mac Media Carts that have been purchased for our school district -- it has to play correctly on the included laptops.
Anyone have any ideas?

When you press STOP in the DVD Player, the DVD stops, no longer running. That's the reason that when you try to press MENU appears the Not Permited message: no way to go to the menu because the DVD is not playing.
That's the normal behaviour of the DVD Player. I think that's the way that thinks works in every DVD player . . . "I think".

This is a part of the larger MacBook Pro connectivity issue. There are several related threads dealing with the MBP's networking problems. If your unit is suffering from this type of difficulty, good luck ... (or a long ethernet cable)

TS1424 I have downloaded a song and it will only play the first 18 seconds and starts again?

I downloaded Clique by Kanye West on itunes and it all appered normal until you try to play the song either on my computer or iphone it plays the first 18 seconds and then goes to the next song even though it says the song is 4:52 any ideas how to fix this?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) have you tried deleting it from your iTunes library and redownloading it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes ? Re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
