OS 10.1 user wants to learn C

Thhe scoop: I have a big fat book on C. i have an ibook with os 10.1. apple's developer site no longer carries april 2002 developer tools. what does a person do? Please help! i want to learn C!!!

i did
try to upgrade to panther but it was dvd and not cd.
i can't get tiger because it will not run on my
computer at a decent speed and of course, is too
expensive when six dollars is imposssible to get.
You should be able to find Panther on CD. I know my copy of Panther shipped on CD. Tiger is the version that shipped on DVD.
If you don't mind running in Classic or booting into OS 9, you could also try MPW. I've never used it, but it's free so you could avoid buying a copy of Jaguar, Panther, or CodeWarrior. You can download it at the following URL:

  • MCU user wanting to learn a bit more about Eucon workflows

    Hi folks,
Just posted a really rough vid explaining a couple of basic MCU functions and wondering if any Artists series users could explain how these things are done with their respective controllers.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1m-K4kV4sE
The audio quality of the vid is *****.. and when I get the chance, I will post something of higher quality and more comprehensive.
I am interested in changing from the MCU to the smaller Eucon controllers, but don't want to slow down the workflow.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
Direct from the Euphonix manual I have :
    Section 2: Logic Pro
Logic Pro works with your Artist media controller with very little additional setup. Make sure the EuControl software is running. Launch Logic Pro and click in a Logic window so it is the front-most application. Your surface now controls Logic Pro.
To make sure your Artist media controller works correctly with Logic Pro:
    1. In Logic Pro, choose Logic Pro -> Preferences -> Control Surfaces -> Setup... The Logic Control Surface Setup window appears.
Figure 2-1 Logic Control Surface Setup window 2. In Control Surface Group 1 on the left side of the window, locate Channel
Strip View Mode (fourth parameter from top). 3. Set this parameter to Arrange, not one of the other settings.
Use Software Update so your Mac stays updated the latest version of Logic Pro.
    2.1.2
    Tips and Shortcuts
    Instantiate and Control Any Plugin
Placing plugins on a track and controlling them from the Artist media controllers can speed up your workflow. Using knobs instead of a mouse to control a plugin not only provides more intuitive, higher resolution control, but also enables si- multaneous control of multiple parameters. You can dial in settings or automate plugin control without mousing around or drawing lines in the arrange window.
    1. Select a track on the Artist media controller.
    2. Press the INSERTS key (MC Mix) or the INSERTS Knob Top (MC Control).
    3. Press both PAGE keys simultaneously to enter Config mode.
    4. Push the Knob Top beside the Insert you wish to assign the plugin to. 5. Push the type for the type of plugin you wish to instantiate.
    6. Press the Knob Top to select the actual plugin.
    7. Press the Knob Top to select the channel format.
    8. Press both PAGE keys simultaneously to exit Config mode.
    9. Push the Knob Top to open the plugin.
    10. Control plugin parameters; press the PAGE keys to access more.
    11. Press the BACK key to close plugin. Instantiate and control works for sends, input, output, and groups.
    Flip to Faders (MC Mix)
Flipping the plugin’s parameters from knobs to faders allows changing eight pa- rameters simultaneously. Flipping bus sends to faders makes it easier to send multiple signals to an effect and better controls effects textures in your mix.
    1. Select the track on the Artist media controller.
    2. Press the INSERTS key (MC Mix) or Knob Top (MC Control).
    3. Push the desired plugin’s Knob Top.
    4. Press the FLIP key to flip to faders. You can now control that plugin on the faders.
    5. Press the FLIP key to flip back to knobs.
    6. Press the BACK key to close plugin.
Flip also works for AUX, PAN, EQ, and other knobsets.
    Instrument Control
Controlling instruments on the knobs or faders allows fast, high resolution, and intuitive automation of single or multiple synth/sampler parameters in Logic.
    1. Select Instrument track.
    2. Press the INPUTS key (MC Mix) or the INPUTS Knob Top (MC Control).
    3. Press the labeled Knob Top to open an instrument.
    4. Control parameters using the knobs and press the PAGE keys to access
    more parameters.
Create and use Markers (MC Control)
Using markers in your project makes navigating your project much faster.
    1. Touch Softkeys on the Touchscreen to enter Softkeys view.
    2. Touch Marker on the Touchscreen to display the Marker page.
    3. Use the transport controls or Jog wheel to navigate the timeline.
    4. Touch Create Marker.
Repeat steps 1–4 for additional markers. Marker Softkeys change color as they become active. Use the Marker keys to navigate the project.
    Create and Control Surround Panner
Use knobs and faders without looking at the screen to control the balance of your surround mix and be more a part of your sonic environment.
    1. Select a track.
    2. Press the MIX key (MC Mix), or the OUTPUT Knob Top (MC Control) to enter
    the Mix knobset.
    3. Press the SURROUND Knob Top to create a Surround panner.
    4. Press the BACK key to exit.
    5. Press the PAN knobset selector (MC Mix) or the PAN Knob Top (MC Control).
You can now control the Surround panner on the knobs.
    6. Press the BACK key to exit.
    Hopefully this answers your questions.
Also, you can create a MACRO command for any touchscreen button (a MACRO is any combination of key commands, including more than three keys at once)
    Cheers

  • Want to learn about Apex..!!

    Hello Everybody,
I want to know much about apex. Can somebody please guide me.
Here's why i want to learn apex.
I want to design one application which opens in web browser, i want to implement it on my local PC, i am using Vmware (Red Hat Linux enterprise 4 OS) as my server, Database is Oracle 10gR2 on server, i have one database created on it.
For practice i have one package that has HTML code in it and i want to run that package on web browser, I ran that package before in my company using Apache with mod_plsql cartridge by setting up Dad configuration..
I want to try it on my local PC. My question is do we have to install Apache with mod_plsql or just installing APEX will work in this case...???
Any help will be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks
    Regards
    -Harsh.

    Hi,
    if you don't want to go for 11g - try 10g Rel.2 -
    my recommendation:
    1. Install the Oracle DB
    2. Download the "Companion CD", which has APEX and an OHS Oracle Http Server = Apache WITH the MOD-PLSQL integrated in it.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winsoft.html
    looks as follows:
Oracle Database 10g Companion CD Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0)
    - 10201_companion_win32.zip (653,693,751 bytes) (cksum - 3264572193)
    - Download latest Oracle Application Express (formerly HTML DB)
When you start the Installer of the Compnaion CD you get the option of installing TOGETHER : APEX and OHS/Apache
Do that ! - and its an hassle free install both installed ready to go (watch the url which is given in the status window at the end of the install and make a note).
The APEX/Apache install takes areound 18 min. - be patient !
TIPP: make a note of the user/pwd you used, because you need this exactly when upgrading.
Later you can easily upgrade to the latest APEX version (Downlaod as above mentioned).
    Hope that assisted !

  • I want to learn JDE, how ?

    Hi,
I want to learn J.D.Edwards enterprise one 9.0, I have a Win XP with 2Gb memory, I found in Oracle e-delivery there's the standalone edtion to install, around 2G to donwload.
there's a windows edtion as well as an oracle database edtion, which one should I choose?
Is the standalone edtion free to use? and is it supporting XP?
If I choose the oracle db edition, can I install it with Oracle 10g XE? I have it installed right now.
    Many thanks!
    Peter.Yawei.Zhang

    Peter,
You can choose either one. The Standalone 9.0 SSE version installs SQL Server Express as the local database; the Standalone 9.0 OEE version installs Oracle Enterprise Edition local database.
Just make sure that you do not have any version of Oracle database (if you're installing the OEE version) or SQL Server (if you're installing the SSE version) on the machine prior to installing Standalone. If any other version of the database is already there, you should uninstall it completely before installing Standalone.
If the Standalone installer detects, for example, in an SSE installation that SQL Server is already on the machine, it will completely skip over that portion of the installation (including configuring it to work with E1 Standalone).
If your installation of Standalone does not complete successfully, then you'll have to follow these steps to uninstall Standalone and the local database before doing a reinstallation:
E1: DEMO: Uninstall Standalone 9.0 SSE or OEE (Doc ID 850355.1)
    https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=850355.1
Here are some good knowledge base articles from the My Oracle Support site for Standalone:
E1: DEMO: Complete Reference For DEMO/ Standalone Installation, Troubleshooting and Generic Queries (Doc ID 1085839.1)
    https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1085839.1&h=Y
E1: DEMO: Where to get the EnterpriseOne 9.00 (ERP9 TR 8.98) Standalone downloads and guides (Doc ID 664638.1)
    https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=664638.1&h=Y
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 Standalone Client Installation Guide, Update (Doc ID 705516.1)

Regarding your question about Minimum Technical Requirements (MTRs) for Standalone, Windows XP is not currently in their certifications. Standalone uses the same MTRs doc as a regular Windows client. Currently, only non-home editions of Vista are supported (Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise Editions, up through SP2 of Vista), although Windows 7 might be certified in the foreseeable future.
Windows XP Professional was previously certified, so you should be able to install Standalone successfully on XP -- but if you run into problems that cannot be replicated in one of the currently certified operating systems, then Oracle GCS might ultimately have to tell you to upgrade to a currently certified platform and then replicate the issue before they continue troubleshooting with you.
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.9x Minimum Technical Requirements for Clients (Doc ID 705409.1)
    https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=705409.1
And here are some of the salient points from that document:
    Hardware Requirements:
CPU: Minimum required by Microsoft for the operating system
RAM: 156 MB above the requirements for the operating system
Hard Drive: 8 GB for system code and initial path code. 6 GB for each additional path code. This is in addition to any other system requirements.
    Printer Support:
Non-double-byte: Post Script Language Level 2, PCL 5 or line printer.
Double-byte: Genuine Adobe Systems PostScript Language Level 2 Interpreter version 2015, or PostScript Language Level 3.
PCL 5 is only supported for non-double-byte customers.
EnterpriseOne uses CID Font Technology. Support starts at Language Level 2 Interpreter 2015.
Note: It has been discovered that some third-party interpreters of PostScript Language Level 2 will not properly print CID-Font based double-byte PostScript.
    Operating System Requirements:
Windows Vista and Windows Vista SP1/SP2 (Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise Editions)
Note: The EnterpriseOne Windows client must be installed with “Run as Administrator on Windows Vista.
Note: The EnterpriseOne Windows client must be run with “Run as Administrator on Windows Vista.
    Database Requirements:
See “JDE Local Database” information contained in the Deployment Server MTR for information on the Local Database Requirements.
    Miscellaneous Requirements:
    · Adobe Acrobat Reader
    · Microsoft Office 2007 is optional. Microsoft Office 2007 is supported beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.96.2. Note that Microsoft Office 2007 has changed some default file extensions. For example, the default extension for Excel files has changed from .xls to .xlsx. Therefore, when exporting to Excel 2007 files, users might have to change the target file name to *.* to see all available files.
    · Microsoft Office 2010 is optional. Microsoft Office 2010 is supported beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.98.3. Note Default file extensions in Microsoft Office 2010 are the same as Microsoft Office 2007. The ability to save files under Microsoft Office 2003 file extensions is still available.
Now, bear in mind that an installation of Standalone is not a fully-functional installation of E1. There are some things that just won't work; it is for demonstration purposes only, and Oracle GCS only supports getting it to install and launch properly.
But some customers use it for Configuration Assistant and other handy things besides just looking at some of the screens in EnterpriseOne. You can also use Standalone to run reports (called UBEs) to demonstrate the kinds of reporting you are able to generate in E1.
You might hear the phrase 'run UBEs' -- 'UBE' stands for Universal Batch Engine, which is what runs reports in E1 and is sometimes used synonymously to refer to the reports themselves.
But you may also notice that you can run UBEs from the fat client for Standalone (which opens when you double-click the Solution Explorer lightbulb icon to start Standalone), but not from the web client (which you launch from Tools > EnterpriseOne Menu once you have logged into the fat client).
That's just the way that Standalone works, out of the box, and how it's officially supported by Oracle GCS.
I hope that some of this information is helpful to you. Good luck with your installation!

    Hi all,
I am a beginner in Linux ….. I want to learn it …. All user commands to advance level … any one can help me to get some PDF documentation which will get all the user level command and other details to start by a beginner to practice and become master in it
    Hopefully
    shanoj

and, just in case you choose Ubuntu Linux, there is plenty of info hosted at the wikis and step-by-step info on https://help.ubuntu.com/
Command line interface is very useful and powerful friend but GUI is not bad ally either, it is just a matter how you feel more comfortable.
Once you start playing around with Linux you will soon realize there many ways to do one particular thing, there are lots of ways to customize your environment/box to every particular need. Ah, and one of the many good things about Linux is that you are not forced to restart your box after updating/upgrading apps. or even the system.
Good luck in your adventure and let us know how it goes.

I want to learn editing in photoshop, from where should I start?

Jon has sent you to the right place, but I prefer a slight change to the location

Perhaps start with Jon's page because it focuses on novice users, but the list in my link will let you chose things specific to your requirements.  I always think it is good to learn the things you will use over and over, because Photoshop is definitely a Use it or Lose it kind of application.

  • Want to learn oracle hrms/payroll

    hi there,
i want to learn oracle apps hrms modules.
please give me some tips guide lines etc
i have strong background of oracle 8i and 10g. now i want to switch to oracle apps

Hi, i think the best approach is the documentation library for the R12 of 11i form the OTN.
I think these are the documents are what you probably already have, the use of the e-TRM's is always helpful if you doing any development / extension / technical work with applications. Such as data migration routines, custom reporting or user defined function etc for payroll.
If you look at the software downloads section, at the botton of the page that lists all oracle downloads there is an option to download apps via the e-delivery method :-

    Good luck

  • Want to learn GNU/Linux for real. Thinking of trying Arch.

So, I'm thinking about trying to put Arch Linux on a partition to force myself into a more "intimate" relationship with Linux, while still using Ubuntu as my primary operating system.
So far, I've been using Ubuntu for two years and kinda treading water in terms of actually understanding the system. I understand what my system is doing only slightly better than they average 'tech-savy windows user' might, which is to say that I am quite good manipulating the GUI, have customised a couple of configuration files (though nothing really essential to the system), and can get some basic tasks done from the command line. I've managed to figure out how to do custom booting and partitioning for multiple operating systems as well, but relying heavily on GUI tools. I have no idea how to, say, do a full hardware configuration, or even get the gnome GUI up and running from a console. I have used a couple of command line tools to listen to music, watch movies, and browse the web, but not much more. Last but not least, I'm terrified of vim and emacs. I can usually bend nano to my will if I must, but if edit any system files, it will normally be in gedit.
I want to fix all of that, and I think Arch might force me to learn it all properly.
Is it biting off more than I can chew? Is there a better way to learn Linux, or perhaps a distro that would be more conducive to my goal?
I'm no pro, I just want to learn.

I've had this secret crazy dream of doing LFS for a while... I even have the book on my hard-drive, but I knew I could never pull it off at my current level of knowledge.
    Hence: Arch
Well that is only my personal guide.  I've actually seen people on this forum claim to go from Windows (and no real previous Linux experience) to Arch successfully.  I think it really depends on how technical you are and how hard you're willing to try.
I put slackware in there because it's package managers usually don't track dependencies like Debian/Ubuntu does.  The default Slackware install is pretty easy then but adding stuff will help you learn about dependencies more and how they work.  And it'll help you get off any reliance you have on .deb packages coming from Ubuntu. It also gives you some experience with one of the earliest Linux Distributions.
As for Gentoo, I put that after Arch to act as kind of a transition into LFS (source based entirely).  It shows you the difference between binary and source based distros -- although Arch or even Ubuntu can be entirely built from source too, in theory.  The idea is by the end of it you would have a good idea of what you like best having had time to try most of the major distros and of various types.
You can do anything you like.

  • F110-Enhancement: User want to reran the same proposal after delete

    Hi guys
It would be great if ane one having answers.
User want to rerun the same proposal  when he likes to update the exchage rate after the payment proposal made   .For this, he will delete the proposal and reran the same proposal.
This is for only Customers and not for Vendors as F110 itself taking care of vendors.
Here the requirment is when he reran the same proposal he checks  new proposal documents with the documents  existed in ZTABLE earlier(needs to be crated z table for entries RUN DATE,IDENTIFICATIN,ALL DOCUMENTS belongs to each proposal ). if all documents are same then no issue ..payment ran takes place and then delete those documents from ZTABLE.if not same, for those documents payment should  be blocked(
i.e any new  documents created  first propal and reran  proposal  those new documents shold be blocked) and then delete those documents from ZTABLE too.
I found one BADI:   FI_F110_SCHEDULE_JOB which is triggering before proposal made.
its having one structure  F110V having only contains one vendor(lower limit of vendors) and only one customer ( lower limit of customers) so here i could not get all the vendors and all customers but i can get all open doucments from table BSID and BSIK .
it can be used to some extent but anyway useless.
    BTE: 1860.
this can be used but user has to click the line item of the proposal run.if suppose there are more documents , it is also useless.
    Another BTE:2040,2060
I can use these BTEs to delete those documents stoed in ZTABLE after payment made.
kindly suggest me if anybody have any idea on this enhancement.
    Thanks
