OS 10.4.3 & WordPerfect documents

I recently received an e-mail, the attachment to which is a document shown as .wpd. I think the document is a WordPerfect document. Will my PowerBook G4, with OS 10.4.3, open a WordPerfect document? If so how?

AppleWorks (currently version 6.2.9) uses a third-party translator from a company called DataViz. I just checked on my Mac, and it does not include a translator for WordPerfect. I am sure that the full version of the DataViz product MacLink Plus could do the trick, but it would cost extra.
By the way the path to the installed extra translators for AppleWorks is Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks Essentials/Translators/DataViz_Carbon/Translators/.

  • Converting Wordperfect documents into Word

I am considering upgrading from 10.3 to 10.4. I have over 100 "Wordperfect" documents (a Classic application). Can I use automater to open these documents, copy the contents of these documents and paste them into a "Word" document, and then save each document? Can automator do that for 1 document, or can I create a "script" where it does that for all documents in a specific folder? Thanks in advance for the help.

My problem when I do that is that I get a lot of symbols that I do not
    recognize for example:

  • Opening a WordPerfect Document

I recently switched to Mac and transfered all my documents over from my PC. Some of the documents were created in WordPerfect (which isn't even installed on that computer anymore) and I can't figure out how to open them on my Mac. Does anyone have any ideas?

Try using the free http://www.abisource.com/ as an intermediary. (I have not used it myself for ages, but I think it should work.)

  • Publishing to .pdf from WordPerfect document

I try to publish a .pdf from a transcript created in WordPerfect, and it will only save the first page.   Do you know why?   Am I missing a link here?
    Thanks!

This isn't anything to do with Adobe Reader, but someone posted about this just yesterday. There's an option in PDF export in WP which says to do only the current page, or something like that.

  • When I convert a document from wordperfect to PDF it only converts the 1st page and ignores the othe

When I convert my wordperfect document to PDF it only converts the 1st page and does not even show the other pages.  This is a new development because in the past it has converted all pages.

    Hi KP122,
Is it document specific or occurs with all the documents.
What is the extension of the word perfect documents?
You can convert the following File types to PDF
    Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX)
    Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX)
    Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX)
    Microsoft Publisher (PUB)
    text (TXT)
    Rich Text Format (RTF)
    Adobe PostScript® (PS)
    Adobe InDesign (INDD)

OpenOffice and StarOffice presentation, spreadsheet, graphic, and document files (ODT, ODP, ODS, ODG, ODF, SXW, SXI, SXC, SXD, STW).
To convert a file type not listed above, use Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer.

  • Two sided printing with wordperfect HP Photosmart 6515

Any ideas how to set up two sided printing with wordperfect documents using  HP Photosmart 6515

    Hello,
You should be able to print on two sides using this method for your product:
NOTE:You can print your document on both sides of the paper, instead of just one side. Click on the Advanced button on the Paper/Quality or Layout tab. From the Pages to Print drop-down menu select Print Odd Pages Only . Click OK to print. After the odd numbered pages of the document have been printed, remove the document from the output tray. Reload the paper in the input tray with the blank side facing up. Return to the Pages to Print drop-down menu and then select Print Even Pages Only . Click OK to print.

    Hope this helps.

  • Adjusting Automatically Generated Document Properties?

Background: I create documents with Word Perfect X4.  I then print to PDF using a printer called "Adobe PDF."  I also have a program installed on my computer called Adobe Distiller that I think may be involved. I've notice recently that my PDF files are being created with document properties stating the full path of the file as the "Title" and my windows login ID as the "Author."
Question: How do I adjust what document properties are automatically generated, or how do I adjust what they will say? I know I can edit the properties manually but this is inefficient.
    Thank you for your input.

Have you filled in the properties of WordPerfect X4 and Acrobat's Identity under the applications Preferences?
You might also set the properties of the created WordPerfect documents.
Have you tried using WordPerfect to publish directly to PDF?

  • WordPerfect on a Mac

I am about to purchase a new iMac and switch from a PC. For work, I need to be able to use WordPerfect. Since there is no version that works with OS 10.6, what are my options? Can I install the Windows software from my old PC on the new iMac and use that with Parallels or Bootcamp? Or do I have to purchase a copy of Windows 7 or XP? And can I use my current Wordperfect CD to load onto the Mac? Also, are there issues with transferring WordPerfect documents from an Mac to a PC?

If you absolutely need WordPerfect, you will need to install Windows.
You do this either through a virtual machine ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine )
Or through Boot Camp. In either case, you would need to purchase Windows.

  • Reading WordPerfect on a Mac

I have a new mac computer -- an IMac, using Leopard OS. How can I read Wordperfect documents? I tried downloading neooffice, but it didn't work.
    Thanks.

I tried downloading neooffice, but it didn't work.
Was it not possible to download/install NeoOffice, or did the conversion of documents not work?
This web page contains a list of NeoOffice file formats.
Alternatively, you may want to have a look at the commercial utility MacLinkPlus (supported file formats here).

  • Converting wpd (Wordperfect) to mac format

Ok troops, I'm getting close to convincing the Minister of war and finance (the Mrs) to let me buy a new imac and finally bidding farewell to microsoft and all the crashes etc. My question is, my wife has tons of teaching lessons, exams, notes (yes, she's a teacher), and there all in Wordperfect format, .wpd extension. Is there a way to convert all those files so that they can be retrieved and edited using the imac software? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
imac with dual core   Mac OS X (10.0.x)   have not purchased yet - looking to buy soon.

    Hello,
I use the free NeoOffice suite. It truly is a great package, and it's fully compatible with all the Microsoft Office documents.
It is also compatible with Wordperfect documents. I've downloaded and opened WordPerfect "WPD" documents others created with NeoOffice it seems to work fine.
See the list of features here:
    http://neowiki.sixthcrusade.com/index.php/NeoOfficeFeatureComparison
You can download either an Intel or PowerPC version of NeoOffice from:
    http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/
So, it will run on your system, it will import Wordperfect files, and it's free.
    You can't beat that
And, on top of that, it is 100% compatible with Microsoft Office. So, you can move forward from here and exchange documents with Microsoft Office users from this point forward.
I've used NeoOffice to exchange MS-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files back and forth with MS-Office for Windows users. So, this is truly a great package.
Check it out, and I think you'll be happy with it.
If she wants a bit of added confidence, you could try one of the following options:
    MacLink Plus:
    http://www.dataviz.com/products/maclinkplus/index.html
Or, install this on the machine with Word Perfect, and convert he files there:
    WordPerfect Conversions - 2.1.1
open & save most file formats in WP
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/9840
There is an older version of MacLink Plus that was released by them as freeware. But, I cannot seem to locate a download for it. I have it on CD along with their release note. But, I cannot find the download. I'll have to dig out the CD sometime to see what version it was. But, I do remember using it in OS X (but, it may have used Classic mode / OS 9).
You might also find this short article interesting:

And, the other utility he mentions using is here:

    I hope this helps.

  • WordPerfect

Hello everyone - new to this forum but impressed by what I have read.
I am 90% sure I am going to switch to an iMac as the home hub to replace an aging PC. Our two daughters already have iBooks and we use Airport Extreme to share wirelessly our broadband and a printer.
I can't ditch the PC however unless I can do some of my office work from home, and that would involve reading and collaborating on documents that have been written in WordPerfect.
Does anyone know if, and if so which, Mac applications can read WordPerfect documents (and I include MS Office Mac version).
As to other core business applications I'm less bothered about email compatibility because I tend to use MS Exchange's web access feature to access my work emails and download attachments (and I have a CrackBerry!) - although it would be handy to know if an iMac could be set up for VPN with our MS based office network.
The third limb of my question is about Excel on Office for Mac. I would do loads on that application - starting one in the office on a PC and then mailing it to myself and working on it at home, then back again etc. Is that all pretty seamless between the two platforms as far as anyone knows?
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Andrew,
    welcome to Apple Discussions.
I cannot answer your question about WordPerfect. If you only need to
    b read
them, maybe you can save them in Word or AppleWorks format (though I don't know if WordPerfect can do that).
You could use Pages to read Word documents. However, read this thread for some things to consideer: Dale Gillard, "Word update soon or Pages?" #6, 03:50am Nov 3, 2005 CDT. For short, if you need to work with Word documents, use Word on Mac.
There have been several discussions about Office and Pages. Here you can follow the latest discussion: http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68bd9fa6. It's also worth to search for "Office" in the Pages discussion list.
Mac OS X has some built-in ability for VPN connections (L2TP over IPSec and PPTP). You can try to set up a VPN connection if you launch "Internet Connection" from Applications. However, I doubt that this gives you enough options to meet your company's VPN settings (eg Exchange mode, Proposal check, Lifetime, Encryption algorithm). I would recommend you to check VPN Tracker. It's easy to use and supports several VPN gateways (pre-configured settings).
Do you really need to mail Excel and Word files? Maybe you're allowed to use a USB stick.

  • Converting older documents to Word or Pages

I have a number of documents from my high school, college, and graduate school days, all of which are saved in various formats. Some are compatible with Pages and Word, others require a bitttf work to get open and saved, so I can work with them using current software. Presently, two formats that have been giving me the most trouble are leftovers from Appleworks 5 and another word-processing app'm not sure of, possible WordPerfect. When I try to open the Appleworks 5 documents, I get a message telling me Pages is not compatible with this version of Appleworks. I do have Appleworks on my computer, but because I have upgraded to Lion, it no longer works. Any ideas there?
The other format giving me trouble simple shows up in the Finder as a Unix Executable File. I have no idea what that means, nor what to do with it. Can any of you help me out? Thank you!

The AppleWorks documents you will have to reopen in AppleWorks 6 and convert to AppleWorks 6 docs.
AbiWord (free) will open WordPerfect documents and you can resave them to .doc files to open in Pages.
Keep in mind you are heading into another possible deadend with Pages. Nothing else reads .pages files.

how can I convert my word perfect documents to mac?

    Hello fruhulda.
Before writting that, I checked the openOffice Save dialog.
And one more time, michaelfromrochester write about what he isn't aware.
The fact that abiwork open Wordperfect documents doesn't prove that openoffice doesn't.
The link posted by Tom claims that it does.
    I repeat my request:
I wish to receive a sample file to check if the embedded importer really works.
About zamzar, I would never use an online service to translate/transcode an important document.
