OS 10.4 Images on 10.5 Server ?

I have some SOE images that are 10.4 based and would like to use them for netbooting / netinstalling. I've started up System Image Util thinking that would do it for me but have now read it needs 10.5 images. Is this correct or am I trying to use my images the wrong way ?
I haven't used Netboot for some months and it was 10.4 server that I was using previously so may be doing this the wrong way totally !

Hi, Gilst. Welcome to the Discussions.
1. First, you should know that these are user-to-user forums. Apple does not answer questions here.
2. You wrote: "Can someone give me an anwser when 10.4.9 is released and if this bug is fixed then ?"No one who answers questions here will know the answer as to when Apple will release 10.4.9. Only Apple knows and they don't announce such dates.
3. As FYI, if it is such a serious problem, I am surprised there is no information about it on the 4D Web Site:• Their Support site mentions nothing about the problem you report.
• Furthermore, they don't appear to have announced any plans to publish a Universal Binary of their application.The only references I could find to the problem you describe are here and here, which were found with a Google search. In the latter item, one person states:"the only certified compatibility for 4D on Intel Macs is 2004.4 on 10.4.6."If that is the case, then for Intel-based Macs that shipped with Mac OS X 10.4.6 or earlier, you could attempt a downgrade from 10.4.8 to 10.4.6 using the instructions I cited in a recent post here under point 4. Substitute "10.4.6" for"10.4.7" in those instructions.
Good luck!

    From the documentation:
    URL Reference
    1.Insert a dummy image in your template.
    2.In Microsoft Word's Format Picture dialog box select the Web tab. Enter the following syntax in the Alternative text region to reference the image URL:
    url:{'http://image location'}
    For example, enter: url:{'http://www.oracle.com/images/ora_log.gif'}
    Element Reference from XML File
    1.Insert a dummy image in your template.
    2.In Microsoft Word's Format Picture dialog box select the Web tab. Enter the following syntax in the Alternative text region to reference the image URL:
    url:{IMAGE_LOCATION}
    where IMAGE_LOCATION is an element from your XML file that holds the full URL to the image.
    You can also build a URL based on multiple elements at runtime. Just use the concat function to build the URL string. For example:
    url:{concat(SERVER,'/',IMAGE_DIR,'/',IMAGE_FILE)}
    where SERVER, IMAGE_DIR, and IMAGE_FILE are element names from your XML file that hold the values to construct the URL.
    This method can also be used with the OA_MEDIA reference as follows:
    url:{concat('${OA_MEDIA}','/',IMAGE_FILE)}

  • Can you store an Image in MS SQL Server 2005

    Hello,
    How possible is it to store customer uploaded images to MS SQL Server 2005.
    Any examples and is there a down turn to retrieving the data from the DB?

    How possible is it to store customer uploaded images to MS
    SQL Server 2005.
    Yes, you can store binary data in a BLOB (varbinary) column. Google turns up tons of hits on "storing images in sql server 2005". For example
    http://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.php/3719221/Storing-Images-and-BLOB- files-in-SQL-Server.htm
    Any examples
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=Images_05.html
    is there a down turn to retrieving the data from the DB?
    It requires more database storage. So it can bloat your database. Plus there is the resources involved in retrieving the images from the database. Usually, it is better to just store the file path and save the actual image files on the file system.

  • JAVA, sqlserver - Need to load an image from the sql server database

    hi,
    I need to load an image from the sql server database using java. I have connected to the database and getting all other records except the records for a photo (datatype = LONGVARBINARY) and Remarks (datatype = LONGVARCHAR).
    I am using java and sql server db. The photo and remarks are stored in the db. and i need to show the image and the remarks fetching them from there.
    I get the error :
    Thread-9 org.hibernate.MappingException: No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1
    How can I achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Gargi

    Exactly. And are you using MySQL?
    No. You are using Microsoft SQL server if I have to believe your initial post. A quick google tells me that the dialect class to use is:
    org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServerDialect

  • Problems displaying images stored in SQL Server as Datatype "image"

    I am trying to display an Image stored in SQL Server as
    datatype
    'image' and it only shows a portion of the image.
    It seems to be tied to the size (kb) of the image since the
    larger the
    image the less of it is shown before it cuts off(sometimes it
    cuts off
    mid line so it's about the file size and not fitting the
    image on the
    screen).
    Here is the code I am using that deals with the image.
    [Bindable]
    public var theImage:ByteArray = new ByteArray;
    private function getScans_result(event:ResultEvent):void{
    var imageByteArray:ByteArray = event.result[0].Image;
    theImage = imageByteArray
    <mx:Image id="theIMG" width="160" height="220"
    source="{theImage}"/>
    Any Thoughts??

    I do that sort of thing using PHP and mySQL the binary part
    of the image is stored in a BLOB field (Binary Large OBject) along
    the rest of the information necessary for the http headers (e.g.
    mime type, file name, file size) being staored in their own fields.
    That info is then used to build the file using PHP. The PHP
    file contains a mySQL query whos result is echoed with the
    appropriate headers. The URL points at the PHP file rather than at
    any saved image.
    Here's the php:
    <?
    # display_imagebank_file.php
    # Note: the ID is passed through the url e.g.
    # this_files_name.php?id=1
    # connect to mysql database
    mysql_connect('HOST', 'USERNAME', 'PASSWORD');
    mysql_select_db('DATABASE');
    # run a query to get the file information
    $query = mysql_query("SELECT FileName, MimeType, FileSize,
    FileContents FROM blobTable WHERE ID='$id'");
    # perform an error check
    if(mysql_num_rows($query)==1){
    $fileName = mysql_result($query,0,0);
    $fileType = mysql_result($query,0,1);
    $fileSize = mysql_result($query,0,2);
    $fileContents = mysql_result($query,0,3);
    header("Content-type: $fileType");
    header("Content-length: $fileSize");
    header("Content-Disposition: inline; filename=$fileName");
    header("Content-Description: from imagebank");
    header("Connection: close");
    echo $fileContents;
    }else{
    $numRows = mysql_num_rows($query);
    echo "File not found <br>";
    echo $numRows;
    echo " is the number of rows returned for id = ";
    echo $ID;
    ?>
    Hope that helps

  • Stream-in images from client to server,without running the transmit code

    Hello all,
    Im using JMF for my current project.Right now,I am trying to only recieve images from the client without the client transmitting it.That is I dont want the transmit code to run on the client.
    I should just be able to stream in the images from client to server, without running the transmit code on client.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks in advance

    <Side A>
    You'd just need to write an application that doesn't have a GUI (so, a console-based application) that listens on some pre-determined port for a message to start broadcasting. Maybe you'd send it the IP/PORT number to start broadcasting on. Once it receives that message, it'd start broadcasting the web cam to the IP/PORT number until it received a message to stop. Once it stops, it'll just go back to waiting for the next "start" signal.
    <Side B>
    On the other side, you'd write an application that sends the start messages, receives/displays the videos, and then sends the stop signal. This will have a GUI, and be your "control program" so to speak.
    Then, once of have both of those programs working...if you're using Linux, you're done. If you're using Windows, you'd need to modify the <Side A> program so that it can run as a Windows service.
    There are a lot of ways to do this, you can google it or look at the following link:

  • How to add byte[] array based Image to the SQL Server without using parameter

    how to add byte[] array based Image to the SQL Server without using parameter.I have a column in table with the type image in sql and i want to add image array to the sql image column like below:
    I want to add image (RESIM) to the procedur like shown above but sql accepts byte[] RESIMI like System.Drowing. I whant that  sql accepts byte [] array like sql  image type
    not using cmd.ParametersAdd() method
    here is Isle() method content

    SQL Server binary constants use a hexadecimal format:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179899.aspx
    You'll have to build that string from a byte array yourself:
    byte[] bytes = ...
    StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder("0x", 2 + bytes.Length * 2);
    foreach (var b in bytes)
    builder.Append(b.ToString("X2"));
    string binhex = builder.ToString();
    That said, what you're trying to do - not using parameters - is the wrong thing to do. Not only it is insecure due to the risk of SQL injection but in the case of binary data is also inefficient since these hex strings are larger than the original byte[]
    data.

  • Save the image in the application server directly

    Hi,
          I have developed a report which displays piechart as the output and saves the image on the presentation server. For that i have used the following code.
       when 'SAVE'.
    DATA : D TYPE GFW_EXP_DATA,
    R TYPE SYMSGNO.
    DATA: S TYPE STRING,
    N TYPE I.
    CALL METHOD GP_INST->IF_GRAPHIC_PROXY~EXPORT
    EXPORTING
    FORMAT =
    IF_GRAPHIC_PROXY=>co_format_bmp
    WIDTH = 50
    HEIGHT = 200
    name = 'C:\Documents and Settings.........'
    IMPORTING
    CONTENT_TYPE = S
    CONTENT_LENGTH = N
    CONTENT = D
    RETVAL = R
    I have a requirement where i have to save the output of the screen(piechart)  in the application server directly with out using the presentaion server.
    Is there any method to do so.
    Thanks and regards,
    Parvatha Reddy

    Hi parvatha ,
    your question is really good.
    Well i really haven't come across your scenario i many years . But my suggestion is to  can use java code to achieve the same .
    Or try to use hexadecimal type in your normal class to read the pie-chart and use transfer with same type .

  • NetBoot Images Not Recognized by Server

    I can use SIU to create NetBoot images from my install package just fine.   They end up in the Library/NetBoot/NetbootSP0 directory.   But the Server NetInstall images pane tells me that "No images available" regardless of where I place them.  The client sharepoints are available in the File Share service. I've followed the instructions from multiple sources (the all say essentially the same thing) to no avail.
    Now I'm just stuck.  This should be working, but I can't figure out what I'm missing.

    I'm not sure if I am answering the correct question or not...
    And my experience was on 10.6.8 server, with NetRestore rather than NetBoot.  Nevertheless I'll mention what I found in case it is helpful as they are very nearly the same process.
    I had awful problems in the past getting the whole process to work, it seems that it matters which machine you use to do the imaging.  What I found worked was to:
    - clone the disc you want to image onto a USB disc.  I can't remember what I used to do this, would have been either ditto or SuperDuper!  (I found in the past that CarbonCopy Cloner worked less well)
    - plug the USB disc into the server and run Disk Image Utility on the server
    For me this was the "Eureka" moment that made the whole thing suddenly work.
    Also I should mention that I found that it matters which network switch you use.  A TPLink switch didn't pass something that was needed for the NetRestore process to work, whereas an HP Procurve switch worked fine.

  • Import IMAGE type from SQL Server to BLOB in Oracle

    Hello,
    Is there a way to import a IMAGE type from SQL Server to BLOB type in Oracle from one table to another through a database link?

    Have you already configured a Heterogeneous Services and Generic Connectivity to create a database link from Oracle to SQL Server? I haven't tried copying IMAGE data from SQL Server via Heterogeous Services myself, but from the [data type map|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/apb.htm#sthref509] in the documentation, I would expect that it would work so long as the SQL Server ODBC driver maps the IMAGE data type to SQL_LONGVARBINARY

                             ostr.flush();
    Can anyone suggest what i need to do
    regards

    The client should probably parse the html that comes down, and look for <img> links, and request those of the server as well.

  • Error Creating NetBoot Image in OS X Server 10.4.9 (PPC)

    I am new the the world of servers and OS X Server so forgive my ignorance. I have been trying to create a NetBoot image in OS X Server 10.4.9 (from a disk image of Mac OS X 10.4.6 for Power PC) and it has failed every single time, with varying amounts of a NetBoot image--none bootable--appearing in the share point. I have tried installing on the server and remotely from an administrator computer and it has never worked. I have followed the directions to the letter in the documentation and I still have two servers that have yet to serve anything. Is there some basic concept or tenet concerning making network boot images from OS X disk images that eludes me? Is it simply a hardware issue (the servers are G3s but supposedly Server 10.4 can be installed on a PowerMac G3 (they're decently equipped with RAM and SCSI drives).
    Sidebar: if I have a server running OS X Server 10.2, do all the client computers have to run Jaguar as well? Told you I was new to this.
    MacBook Pro 2.33/3GB/120GB   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   PowerMac G4 FW800, 16 b&w PowerMacs G3; TiBook G4

    Well it looks like that question was deemed to lowly to answer. Luckily I found out for myself that SCSI and certain video cards can impede the smooth installation of OS X Server 10.4 and that one should use the installed in the Other Installs folder and not set the CD as the startup disk to avoid these incompatibilities.
