OS 10.5.8 to 10.6
I purchased my Macbook Pro just about 2 years ago. It came with a DVD for 10.6 Snow Leopard. My mac does not recognize this at all...It sees this disc as a blank DVD. I've already tried the restarting with the disc in there while holding down CTRL (or maybe Command, I can't remember which key it was, I'm a pc girl making the switch, so I'm a bit ignorant here, lol). At any rate, nothing happens, the system sees a blank DVD. No prompts to upgrade whatsoever. I've used computers long enough to know that it may be ME that is doing something wrong here. Any suggestions? I'd like to get this up to 10.6 OS at the very least.
"A retail Snow Leopard disc will not work, so don't buy one."
And why not? The MBP was bought two years ago. It came with Leopard 10.5. The disk the OP has is 10.6.0. I know, I had one. The latest retail disk should work.
