Hy, my mac now is without addressbook, and when i try to add a contact, this crash.
I'vent my addressbook in time machine!!!

The next time the problem happens, note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t post huge amounts. i used MiniTool Mac data to recovery! actually b4 tat i'm using hp computer and i saved all my files in my external hard disk. When i using mac i installed the NTFS-3G but it still cant read my external hard disk and i miss deleted and formatted all the data in my external hard disk. after tat my friends suggest me to purchased the software to recover all the data,finally i got all my photo back except my microsoft office files.
i purchased miscrosoft office software for my mac yesterday but the files still cant be read and couldnt recover back the document tat i saved! i was upset to spent alot of money but still cant get my document back!!

Missing/Deleted posts [Solved]

That's the right number, so karol's suggested commands should also show that you have the file (but please confirm this). Once confirmed, that would mean the issue is with your mandb.

Addressbook.app Missing

I went to update my contacts that I have stored in AddressBook today and discovered that the actual address book application is missing. It seems that the data (contacts show up in spotlight) and the plist files are still there.
I don't recall deleting the application - though it could have happened. I ran the last update and seem to be having some funky problems with other programs as well.
So, I guess the main question is - how do I re-install address book without losing my existing data?

You can do it as an optional install from your installation DVD. You should probably then download and run the appropriate combo updater. Before doing anything copy your data files (~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/) somewhere safe.

Is there a substitute for the missing Delete key?

I'm pretty unhappy with the new half bluetooth keyboard, probably because I have never been a laptop user. Big is better to me. One of the keys I am really missing is the delete key in the middle panel that deleted from the right rather than the left. I'm wondering if there is some kind of workaround to achieve that function without doing what I have been doing, i.e., moving the cursor all the way over to the right of what I want to delete and then using the remaining Delete key--a lot of trouble, I think.

One can add a city but the option to delete a city from the list is missing.

To delete a city, click on the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner. Then swipe the city you wish to delete from right to left.

Missing/Deleted Songs

So I had a very large mass of songs on my computer that i've slowly accumulated over the years, and I recently added them all to itunes.
I changed an option within Itunes to make a copy of all of my songs in my itunes folder, thinking that i'd not have two copies, I might as well delete the old files folder. This left me with ONLY the song files that were copied into my itunes folder.
I accidentally sent my entire Itunes fodler to the recycle bin, and I realized this before emptying the recycle bin. I "restored" all the files from the recycle bin, and now all the song files are deleted and still missing.
There is nothing in the recycle bin after restoring, and there's still nothing. Did the action of me sending it to the recycle bin in the first place automaticall delete all my song files from my computer?

Hmm i had this when i first started getting my claws in itunes...
I know there is a duplicate folder, usually in my music as well as in itunes folder found inside my music folder.
To find your itunes library folder (where itunes is pulling your music from) go to Edit/Preferences/Advanced tab and check out the path in the "Itunes music locatin folder". Then go there directly and see if your songs are there. (you may just have to add them to your itunes)
If not, go to your search option and type in the name of a song and see where it pops up on your hard drive. Copy the path down (if you cant double click on the search result) and import the songs into itunes.

How can I get my library back if the Originals folder is missing/deleted?

I updated from Leopard to Lion and so everything was deleted. Well I thought I backed everything up as I was supposed to, but apparently not. I copied the iPhoto library file to an external harddrive and some of the files from that library didn't/wouldn't go over. The computer gave me a message but I don't remember the specific words. So I did the Show Package Contents of each file, the original library and the one in my external harddrive, and selected all and moved everything to the library on the external harddrive. I didn't even think to specifically carry the Originals folder from the old library to the new one and I noticed yesterday after some issues with iPhoto telling me it needs to be upgraded but then crashes when I press update. Is there a way to restore the library, well at least the original file sizes of the pictures using the thumbnails or anything else from the library?

If you don't have the original files then I'm afriad you don't have anything to work with.

Missing / deleted history - 'New and improved' releases add new features, improved (?) function, but eliminate some options and browsing history...

This has been a problem ever since updating from Firefox 8 to FF 10. I noticed that there was about a month missing from my history after that update. Checking my settings in 'about:config', there was no change in 'browser.history_expire_days_min' or 'browser.history_expire_days.mirror'. The value has been set at '720' ever since installing FF 3.6 over three years ago.
Admittedly, I don't install new updates the moment they become available... However, every time that I've installed an update, more and more of my history simply vanishes. Not a few days or weeks, mind you. but 3, 6, and even 9 months of history GONE!
I just don't understand why this option was eliminated from Privacy Preferences, forcing users to tinker with the settings in 'about:config' instead. Since users are given a warning before going on to the settings page, why would any programmer think this is a good alternative to the Preferences pane???
Now I'm down to history for February and March of this year... You can bet that I'm not going to be updating to any new releases for a very long time, if ever.
It seems that 'software bloat' isn't a 'Microsoft-only' disease...
New 'features' + 'improved' perfomance = New demands for disk space + improved glitches...
Frankly, I'm getting sick of this...

Not sure if it is relevant but the structure of the places.sqlite database changed recently, and jumping all the way from fx3.6 to fx18 or 19 could conceivably have been a factor. It is best to keep Firefox up-to-date.
Glad at least that you keep backups.
History backups are slightly problematic, because if the places.sqlite database is backed up and restored to an old copy the bookmarks then regress. As you will be aware already, Firefox itself makes no History backups, and has no facility to restore History only.

Missing DELETION/ARCHIVE category entries in IE configuration

hello gurus
The PI production server in our landscape is running out of space.
We are trying to schedule archiving/deletion jobs.
While checking PI system, we could see that there are no entries for
ARCHIVE/DELETION parameter category in Integration Engine configuration.
(SXMB_ADM>Integration Engine Configuration>Change Configuration).
Will these be maintained when we run the jobs or do we have to maintain
them explicitly?

Missing "Delete" button in header of Mail

I seem not to have a "Delete" button on my Mail header anymore and can't figure out how to get it back. Does anyone know where it went and how to get it back?

Missing delete icon

i configured portal for multilanguage. After that i create several translations (Oracle9iAS Portal navigator -> edit properties, create translation via Translations tab) and make them online. But i can't delete any translations because there is no delete icon as referred on the page.
can anyone help me.

Never really used the Photo Library option, I have all mine in various folders so just go to the folder I want and not the Photo Library to show all. Never noticed it didn't have trash can. It will if you view pic from the folder it is really in.

Missing deleted messages

I have been unable to locate email's recently deleted from my "Mail" inbox. They don't appear in the Trash...where did they go.

Check the setting in Mail > Preferences > Accounts tab > Highlight the accout on the left > Mailbox behaviors tab > check "move deleted messages to the trash mailbox".

ICloud Deleted a ton of contacts and all my contact groups

I just updated to 10.7.2 today and turned on iCloud. I synced my contacts and for some reason all my groups are now gone and tons of my contact are gone. I think all the contacts that were on groups have been deleted. Please help.
I have my address book backed-up on time machine but this is very frustrating. How can I keep this from happening again when I restore my old contact file?

I was able to fix the problem. Here is what I did:
Went into terminal and made my Library folder visible (entered:chflags nohidden ~/Library)
Closed the Address Book Application
Opened the address book folder under library/application support.
Entered Time Machine and restored the address book folder from before the 10.7.2 update. Tell it to not replace the post 10.7.2 version of the address book folder.
Opened Address Book (use the address book application support folder that you restored and make sure the other one is named "AddressBook (original)" or something like that.
You should see your groups again in address book. Go to File: Export: Address Book Archive. Save it to your desktop. Close the address book app
Go back to the ApplicationSupport/AddressBook folder and delete the one that you restored and re-name the AddressBook (original) folder to simply Addressbook.
Open Address book again. Your groups will be missing. Go to File: Import: Then import the Address Book Archive that you just created.
Lo and behold your groups should be back. You now should have on your groups section of address book a "On My Mac" and a "iCloud" category of groups. To move groups or contact to the cloud, just drag them onto the words "iCloud"

Address Book cmd-X deletes contact card

I have a big problem with Address Book. When ever I use cmd-X in the notes section of a contact card it deletes the whole card. Using cmd-V right away only pastes the text I intended to cut -- the missing card is apparently gone forever.
This is beyond frustrating when I loose notes that cannot be replaced.
What's going on?

When you reinstall, do you also restore your contacts from a backup?
If so, you may have brought over whatever it is that is causing you problems.
First, open Address Book and create an Address Book archive (File menu, export…)
Second, go into your user/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the
AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. It is an index to the metadata (vCards).
Third, go into your user/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.addressbook.plist file. That is the Address Book preferences. So, you will have to edit them back to your liking if everything starts working correctly.
Now, try Address Book and see if it works ok.
If you are syncing with MobileMe, you might consider resetting sync services if the problem returns.
Also, can you post a crash report? You can find them in Console, look in the CrashReporter section under ~/Library/Logs--just copy and paste it here.
