OS 10.7 won't let me set my default printer

When I go to print, in most programs, it always selects the first lists the first printer in alphabetical order. I set default printer to Last Printer Used and it still brings up the first in line alphabetically. I tried setting default printer to Last Used. Closed the preferences and when I reopen the preferences window, it's been reverted back to Last Printer Used. I even tried clicking the lock to lock the settings, but it still reverts back. It's driving me crazy. The printer that always comes up is a wide format and I have come close to printing emails to it instead of the black and white laser printer.

In Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars / Add Account / Microsoft Exchange I add all of the info, hit next and nothing happens - it just takes me back to the same screen with Next grayed out. Quit the settings app and restart the iPad - then try again.

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If the email account is appearing on the iPad - delete it and then try adding it back on.

Set the default printer setting to landscape in Excel

Hi,
Is it possible to set the default printer setting to "1 page wide" and "landscape" whenever the user clicks print in Excel? I am trying to create an Excel report using XML and XSL. Though the report is created, I am not sure if I can control the printer page setting for MS Excel. Kindly let me know if its possible. If so, how can it be done? its kind of urgent.

we have HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125-M126 PCLmS network all in one printer, as the installation in every user was successful, and was working fine on installation day, after a day all user facing issue like can not set default pritner , can not print, all user are facing issue at a time,

I see that you are experiencing issues setting the default printer for users and you are unable to print over the network.
I would be happy to help you.
Do you mean individual computers setup with the printer over the network users or one computer with multiple users?
Do you have Admin Rights on the computer to make changes?
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. http://www.hp.com/go/tools>Using HP Diagnostic Tools for HP Printers in Windows.
I would suggest you to check if you have a different user account or from an administration account.
I would also suggest you to create a new user account and check if you are able to set the printer as default.

If you are still having issues run the Fixit Tool. Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

Setting new default printer from tcode VF

Hi friendz,
im here again..:-) hope u dont mind..
i have a problem in setting the default printer in tcode VF02...actually the scenario is we bought a new printer..and the program in billing documents always default it to the old printer...so i tried to change the printer from old to new.
and tried to change the default printer thru the following :
1.change the new default printer from settings->printer
2.change the output in VF02 tcode from GOTO->header->output->communication method
3.change it from billing document->issued to output ->print options.
but all of these is i need to change it per document no...
now...how will i default it only once..and all documents i my print will default the printer to the new printer..
do you have any idea to change the default printer to SPRO? because i check the output type is rd07...and i have no idea where to change it...

How do I set the default print margins for ALL printers in mozilla.cfg, even ones that are not yet installed / connected to the computer?
I'm trying to install firefox with MDT and apply certain print options, but the printers themselves are connected at a later stage so the print.printer_myprinterhere cannot be used.

Hi,
Try saving your settings as a Preset by clicking the Preset drop down and then select Save Current Settings as a Preset.
Next try changing the settings by selecting the saved preset.
That allow saving the settings for a specific printer, I assume it may also allow selecting these settings for another printer.

Click on File Menu -> Page Setup... -> Printer Options Click on Printer button
In the same way you can check the default printer for an existing report.

Set a default printer for Reader X (10.1.4)?

I'd like to set a default printer or have Adobe Reader X use my Windows default printer so that when I click the icon a printed copy if produced. Currently I am prompted to select the printer but it would be perfect to just have a printed copy when I click the print icon. Should I want to switch printers I could always use "File" "Print" and customize from there.
Please help me find what I am doing wrong.

Thank you! Windows version 7 and Reader X version 10.1.4. No difference in browser (FF, IE, Chrome) - I can set the browser to open in browser window then open Reader or I can set the browser to always open Reader. Either way I get prompted. So I just opened reader and opened a pdf on the local box and still was prompted. Any ideas? It would be so nice to set a default and have it just work.

Business catalyst won't let me set up email with .media extension

I have this domain - www.thinkchurch.media that I am using with a business catalyst hosted site. It will not let me set up an email with this domain for some reason even though I have the right hosting plan. It says, "This cannot be an email address."

We currently have a bug that the email accounts doesn't allow email accounts with more recent domain extensions. File a ticket or reach out to LiveChat support with a list of mailboxes you want and we can create them from our back-end. You won't be able to see these mailboxes in our Email accounts interface, but they'll work properly once they're created from our backend.

Monitors are the same, but Mac won't let me set them the same in Preference

Odd issue.
Two exactly the same Samsung Synchmaster monitors connected to the Mac Pro to make an extended display.
The monitor on the right never has the right resolution. When I set it's resolution to the same as the left monitor (1280x800), it looks awful.
Finally, I checked under Preferences>Displays, and under "Arrangement" I see that the computer has the left monitor set to the right little blue box dimensions (widescreen) but the blue box on the right is more square. How do I change the blue box on the right to match the dimensions of the one on the left?

Okay, scratch that. I set the one on the right to 1280x800, and now the blue box matches the size, but it looks terrible! I mean, really bad. Yet the same monitor with the same resolution settings on the left side looks fantastic.
Plus, the right side monitor won't let me choose 60 MHz, whereas that is the setting for the one on the left.
Any ideas what's going on here?

Won't Let me Set up iCloud Email

I am trying to set up an @me.com account with iCloud, but it won't let me. When I try it on Mac, it won't create, it will go back to the "Choosing your email" page, and when I do it on iOS, it says "There was a problem turning on your email, try again", and when I try again, it just repeats the same thing. I really need this email address and I don't know why it will not let me.

Is the Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher? If so, you can add your account by going to System Preferences>iCloud, signing into your iCloud account, then checking Mail. This will automatically add the existing email account.

Mac and iPod won't let me set up iCloud Mail. Server not responding.

When I first got in to iCloud, my Mail app on my Mac and iPod were fine, but when U went back to them some time later, they kept requesting my password and then not connecting to the servers. I deleted the account from all Mail apps and tried to set them back up again, but now it says the servers aren't responding and won't let me continue setting up my accounts.
I can send and recieve emails from icloud.com.
Any help?

I've just had another look at it, and it seems it doesn't save your password so keeps signing out before it gets a chance to connect with the servers. The tickbox next to the Mail icon under the iCloud section in System Preferences keeps deselecting itself. This also happens when trying to log into icloud.com, where it says "Keep me signed in", it doesn't keep you signed in.

Quirky LoadVars won't let me set Send variables in function

So, my last host died at the beginning of the month and I
just got everything migrated to a new host. I was trying to get
back to work on this Flash project that logins via PHP to a mySQL
database. The login script stopped working. I have discovered that
_global.getcards.THISVARIABLE will not let me set THISVARIABLE, but
this only happens from the login function. I can write a test
function with copy/pasted code from the broken one and it will
work. I am pretty sure this function worked before. If I copy/paste
the whole function it breaks again, but the set data is at the
beginning of the function, so I don't understand how that could
change it. . .

So I just got back from a long weekend and I found the
problem. Here is the code at the end of the function that handles
how it exits (I faked indentation with backticks cause this forum
deletes tabs):

The commented _parent.play() breaks it. I don't understand
why, because calledFromTransition is not true and based on the
trace that code snippet is not being invoked by this function call
(calledFromTransition is used in a later call). Can someone please
explain why?

HP1510 0x00000709 can't set as default printer

I have installed my new printer HP1510 on computer with Windows 7, but I cannot set it as default printer in Control Panel, get error message 0x00000709. This means that I cannot print pdfs as my previous printer, which I have uninstalled, is still shown as the default printer in Adobe Reader. I can print emails ok. Please help as I bought the computer to print pdfs!

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you are unable to set your printer as the default and are experience PDF difficulties. Please try these steps to address all of your issues:
Go to Start, type Regedit in the search bar. Right-click on it and select "Run as administrator". Now, locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
You need to give this key full permissions. To do this:
a) Right-click on the key that you need to edit and/or delete. Click on "permissions..."
b) Click "Add" in that Window that appears.
c) There will be an empty box under "Enter the object names to select". Type "Administrator" (without the quotes), then click on "Check Names".
d) An Administrator name will appear, click "Ok" when it does.
e) You should be able to select (click) the Administrator profile under "Group or user names". Once clicked, click on "Advanced".
f) Click on the "Owner" tab.
g) Click on the Administrator profile, then put the check-mark in "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".
h) Go back to the "Permissions" tab, and ensure the Administrator profile is selected.
i) In the "Permissions" tab, put a check-mark in every box available. The boxes will likely be indicated by "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" and "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object".
j) Next, click "Edit". Put a chark-mark in "Full Control" under Allow. Click Ok. Now, click Apply (you may receive a Window security message, just click "Yes"), then Ok.
k) Exit the Registry, then restart the computer.
The last step is restarting the print spooler. To do this, type services.msc in the search bar. Right-click on it and select "Run as administrator". Look for the Print Spooler and Stop it, then Start it.
Now try setting the printer as the default and printing PDFs. Let me know what happens. Thanks!
