OS 10.8.2; internet fine in New York; slow to non-working in Norway; iPad works fine both places

MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.2 via a router works fine for internet connectivity in New York, but not in Norway.
MacBook with 10.4.11 and iPad work fine/same both places.
What might be the problem?

Should be no problem. However you don't mention any details so how can anyone here even guess?

Apple does not have an international warranty. If the phone was purchased in the US, it must be serviced in the US, in warranty or out of warranty. Also, Apple will not accept international shipments...the phone must be physically returned to an Apple store in the US or mailed from within the US.

Suddenly New York Times website not working in Safari

I often leave the NYT website up on a tab in Safari, where it auto-refreshes every five minutes or so. Worked fine earlier today. Now I get "Page Not Found" posted by NYT with some suggestions and a short list of content. This is on my iMac, see identical behavior on my MacBook Pro with Safari. But: the site works fine in Firefox, on both machines. I have the NYT extension in Safari on the iMac but not on the MBP. No other extensions.
Did run into some kind of malware yesterday when looking up song lyrics in Safari, somehow got a popup from url "security-lmeniagy-chk.in/js?t=<bunch of stuff>" that claimed to be "from the FBI" and tried to extort money; had to Force Quit Safari and hold Shift on the re-launch so as not to reopen that page, but after that Safari seemed fine. Or maybe there's some lingering problem? (But this wouldn't explain the behavior on the MBP.) Kinda puzzling. Thanks for any tips. (Safari v6.0.5, OSX 10.8.5)

Thanks for the tip! I checked for malicious adware per Safe Mac instructions, found nothing suspicious. (Doubted DNS or network or other causes because is Safari-specific problem.) Meanwhile, the problem has gone away! I suspect the NYT folks found and fixed something, because all I did was refresh their page in Safari (on iMac and MBP) and voila!, it displayed correctly.
Might it be useful for Apple to know more about this problem, since it appeared to expose a vulnerability in Safari that was not present in Firefox? I'd suggest contacting NYT to see if they can enlighten.

Have you upgraded to the latest iOS 8.2?
Also, define "instantly". All cloud services have an inherent lag due to a number of factors, link quality/speed being the most predominant.

Let me give the history - I started with an Apple Express being fed thru a D-Link EBTR 2310 cable Router from an RCA DCM315 Modem (Pure). Comcast service all the way.
Got the 1st generation TC in 2008 and merely replaced the Airport Express with the TC. Worked ok
A year or two ago I did try removing the modem and feeding the TC directly from the modem. Resulted in the same condition I have now - Continuous flashing amber on the TC. So I put the router back in the chain.
Some time later, at the recommendation of a Comcast rep, I replaced the router with (a Belkin F5D 5231) to see if speed and dropout problems would be improved. I thought it helped some at the time but now I am not so sure.
Last week I decided to see if a new modem would help with download speeds. So I got another pure cable modem (Motorola SB 6121- high on the Comcast recommended list).
Got up and running easily with Comcast help and with the modem connected directly to a computer.
Next I put the TC in the link and again could not get past the TC continuing to flash amber. Although I did get connected to the internet with this configuration I lost connection two both of my printers - one connected by USB and the other wirelessly to the TC. Again everything works fine when I put the Belkin router back in the system.
However with the router in there, the modem shows the downstream connection to be 10/100 ethernet speed. (Modem light changes color for indicating speeds.}
I have gone thru all of the combinations of powering down/ up, but all stays the same.
I can live with what I have but something still doesn’t seem right.

Why does the internet on my new macbook pro not work when my old macbook's does? I'll have to turn the wifi off and back on multiple times to get the internet to continue to work on my Macbook Pro (running mountain lion but did it on lion also) when it runs fine on my old white Macbook (running lion). Is there something I can do to fix it or do I just have to deal with it?

if you have one already you can rename either one ..
and then go to system preferences - displays - color to select the profile .
you will get rid of the blue tint while keeping correct color and gamma

I just installed a new WRT54G2 v1. It worked fine when I installed it two days ago. However now it seems to be searching for ip address, and in a loop. I can correct it by stopping and restarting DHCP services, then repairing the wireless wireless connection. However, this is a real pain since there are two desktops and one laptop using it. Does anyone have suggestions. I have the wireless adapters set to obtain IP address and DNS automatically. Is this the problem? Should I assign static addresses to each? Just searching for a solution so I don't have to go through the repair each time the pc's start up. Appreciate any help. Thanks

I found at least part of my problem. On one desktop I found TCPIP V6, which, from what I have researched, is not needed - in fact, it causes problems on some networks. I unstalled it and the pc booted back up with active wireless Internet connection. I don't know if that was the only problem, but it at least temporarily solved that one.

This problem has been going on for a few days. my computer connects to the internet fine and runs fine, but none of my Internet browsers will work. I have deleted all my history, cache, cookies etc. For all browsers. I have also made sure that i have no proxies on and that no firewall is blocking my Internet. I have ran virus scans to look for malware and nothing comes up... I'm very confused.
For chrome I get errors like "err_socket_not_connected", "err_connection_closed", and "err_empty_response"
for safari it just says "safari can't open the page because safari can't establish a secure connection to the server"

I do not know if it's relevant or not, but I got a message on my ipad while on safari saying that my iPhone has a virus. I looked it up and it seems it might have just been an ad from the website I was on, but it happened around the same time YouTube stopped working.

You will find that using the YouTube app will provide a better viewing experience for YouTube videos.

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

It doesn't sound like you "changed" your Apple ID, sounds like you created a new one. Bad idea. All content bought with an Apple ID is forever tied to that ID. The ID that bought the content is the only ID that can update the content. Apple does not merge IDs not does Apple transfer content from one ID to another.
