  • Mac Mail Resizing Attachments???

I have been sending out attachments using Mac Mail for a long time but recently I have needed to send out Hi-Res photos for print. When the email is received the files have been shrunk and are too small to use. I have gone through every preference I know of and cannot find a way to turn this off. Any help is appreciated.

And only when it says Actual Size will the file be right. If it's set on small, medium or large files size will be reduced and will be turned into jpegs, no matter what the original version was.
So open up an email and attach a file and look at what it says. If it says anything but Actual size the file is already altered. So change it to actual size and save as draft, which you can then delete.
Then next time you attach an image it should say Actual Size because it defaults to whatever was last used. If it still changes then the file is probably too big, most emails have size limits and it's different for every service, so you have to check not only your own but the receiver of the email because if it's past their limit they will never get it.

  • 10.8.4 Mac Mail Sort List Doesn't Update

In Mountain Lion 10.8.4's Mac mail program, I see the list on the left side doesn't update the list preview with the most recent email as part of that thread -- so it is difficult to lknow who the most recent email is coming from. For instance, if I send an email to a client, and I copy myself -- I get to see that copy in the list preview because it came into my inbox, BUT when the person responds to that email the list preview does NOT change to reflect the most recent sender of the email or the most recent snippet of the email. It shows that the email is unread -- but is misleading because it shows the sender as myself and a snippet of my email INSTEAD it should show the most recent sender and a snippet of the most recent message... is there a preference to change this or a patch to fix ?

Does anyone on the Mac Mail or OSX Support team have a solution to this...? You can easily miss emails at a glance if you lok in the list preview and that list has not updated to reveal a snippet of the latest email in the thread....thanks for your help!

  • Mac mail receives but doesn't send

    Hello,
During iPhone setup I asked that my mac mail accound info be copied over. When using the mail program I can receive emails, so I think my info came over, but I can not send. I read about the port issue with some isp so I tried over the EDGE network and it still doesn't work. This is the message I get:
" sending the message content to the server failed "
    Any ideas?

You are one up on me...you can receive. When I'm home, the internet and email gives me a message"Cannot get Mail, The connection to the server, "mail.earthlink.net" failed." I thought it was an issue with my earthlink account, but when I leave home the email and internet work. I have a wireless connection, the signal is full bars, I've had ATT for years and the phone works inside my house.
What else should I be checking. Between this and the fact I can't import my memos from my Palm, I'm getting frustrated. It doesn't seem to replace my PDA, which was my primary purpose for getting it (beside the fact it's so cool)!

  • Mac Mail jpeg attachments pc distorted

I send jpeg photos as part of my business. My PC clients receive the photos squished and distorted. I have tried:
    - Plain Text email
    - inserting into email instead of attaching
    - using "Actual Size" on size indicator
    - "Send PC friendly files" or whatever that check box says
My clients are not savvy enough to deal with zipped or compressed files.
    Any answers out there?
    Thank you

I have the same problem!!! Anyone have suggestions?

  • IPhone 5 doesn't synchronise sent emails with Mac Mail and also doesn't mark them as read if they're opened on Mac Mail.

I never had this problem with my 4S — I can't fix the individual mailboxes under Settings > Mail > *My Email* > Advanced anymore like I used to either.
    Does anyone have any idea?
Currently set to Fetch across all emails.

I think that Hotmail is a POP account so e-mails read on one phone will still look unread on another.
Check you e-mail account settings and see if it says it's an IMAP account.
If so, an e-mail read on one phone will show as read straight away on another.
To test the theory, just send a few e-mails and agree with your wife who will read which ones, then check them to see if the theory is correct

  • Auto display HTML attachments in body / email sent from mac mail

    Hi,
One of my clients has received an email written in MAC Mail, the email doesn't display correctly instead what would be the body of the email appears as an html attachment, he doesn't want to have to click the attachment to preview it as he doesn't have to
do this on the iphone (also an apple device hmm....), I cant see any way of making it auto display the html in the body without clicking it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
Can you confirm if the sender has this problem sending emails to other recipients?
Please logon your Webmail(or OWA), does that message display as an attachment as well?
If other Outlook recipients also see the email body as an attachment and you can verify it shows as an attachment on Web as well, I'm afraid we should blame the Apple Mail Client, since I've seen some Apple Mail users have this problem:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1947994?tstart=0
Kindly have the sender check if the setting like Edit > Attachments > Send Windows friendly Attachments
    has been checked.
If I'm not getting this wrong, we should confirm this issue with Apple:

Feel free to post back of course.

  • Mac Mail creates duplicate messages in GMAIL bin and various other locations...

This has been quite frustrating finding 20 copies or half written copies of my mail as mac mail saves it as a draft then moves it to the bin.
When i perform a search for something im greeted with 20 half written copies of an email?
Anyone know why this is happening?

I assume your Gmail account is set up as IMAP.
In Mail, go to Preferences, Accounts tab, select the Gmail account. In the right pane, select Mailbox Behaviors, and uncheck "Store draft messages on the server".
Draft(s) will the only be saved on your Mac and more "safely" deleted when the mail is sent. If stored on the server, a slow or shaky Internet connection can prevent from it happening.

  • Mail not showing up in Mac mail and iphone (Sky email UK)

    Hi,
This relates to a post from yesterday which I thought was solved, if only… !
If I check my mail on iphone it doesn't show up later in Mac mail. I have 5 accounts set up. 3 work fine, 2 don't. My Sky email account and a domain account that is set up for forwarding via Sky.
It seems to be a problem with Sky. This other forum suggests putting "recent" into the Mac Mail user name, doesn't help. It also mentions setting up a IMAP Sky account. I have never used IMAP, always POP. If I set up IMAP on phone can I still get POP mail on my Mac?
    http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-email-portal-log/17836-iphone.html#post158522
This other forum suggests unlocking the email account, never heard of that. Sounds dodgy?
    http://customerforum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1285&highlight=sky
Thanks in advance, I've spent hours going through all this!
    Cheers!

I had to make an IMAP account instead of POP. Now SEEMS to work…

  • Password issues with Mac Mail-help!

I created a new email account through my internet provider (Comcast) and I can no longer access my email although it is showing up on webmail. The comcast person said I would probably have to change my password. I tried doing this on Mac Mail but there doesn't appear to be the usual place to type in new password and then confirm. I am not sure what password they are asking for. The mail account was set up so long ago that I have never used any password when checking my account. I also notice if I delete the password, the password dots are back when I open preferences up again. I don't understand this and Comcast will not help with Mac Mail questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You said you never used a password when checking you mail. You must have a password on the account, I don't see how you couldn't.
When you go to www.comcast.net and go to the webmail client, you must enter your username and password in order to get your messages. It's this username & password that Apple Mail requires in order to access your email.
If you want/need to change your password, you can do this at www.comcast.net from within the webmail client. When you are at your inbox on the webclient, on the left side of the screen there is a link for "Preferences". Clicking that will take you to another page and one of the options is "Change Your Password". That's where you would go to change your password for that specific email account.
    Good luck,
    Bronson

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

Apple Mail isn't going to change the format of any of your attachments. it isn't going to corrupt them either.
Exchange is a transport protocol and server. The issue you describe is not related to Exchange.
There are many different versions of Microsoft Outlook in use and they all have e-mail bugs. Different versions have different bugs. Some Apple Mail hack to get around a bug in Outlook 2003 may cause the same message to be problematic in Outlook 2000. Fix them both and another issue will cause trouble in Outlook 2007. You can't fix this. Apple can't fix this. Microsoft can and has but that is irrelevant if your recipients are using older versions.
One specific problem is that Apple Mail always sends image attachments inline, as images, not as iconized files. You can change this with Attachment Tamer. Just be aware that use of this software will break other things such as Stationery. E-mail is just a disaster. To date, no one outside of Apple has ever implemented the e-mail standards from 1993. Apple has continually changed its e-mail software to be more compatible with the de-facto standards that Netscape and Microsoft have unilaterally defined and people documented as "standards" after the fact. The e-mail messages that Apple Mail sends are 100% correct and do not violate any of the original standards from 1993 or the Microsoft/Netscape modifications. The problem is entirely bugs and limitations in various versions of Outlook.

  • Mac Mail - Being able to set attachments as Icons by default.

    Hello All,
Garoolgan again with yet another little problem with the Mac Software.
I've rung Mac support and been told that this is impossible to do.
I send a lot of attachments with my Mac Mails.
If I click right on the attachment to set it to 'View as an Icon" then "save" the email as a draft and open it again the image or document comes up, not the icon. In the same way the person receiving the email finds a whole "pile" of files at the bottom instead of a neat list of icons.
Thanks for Reading..... and I hope those Mac programmers read these messages too!
    Best wishes to all
    Garoolgan

Icons can be cut and pasted onto almost any item on the Macintosh. As for how to apply them, here is the most straight forward way:
On your desktop, select the icon you would like to use
Select “Get Info” (command-I) from the File Menu for that icon
Click on the icon in the upper left of the window
Choose “Copy” (command-C) from the Edit menu
    Close the window
Select the file/folder to which you want to apply that icon
Select “Get Info” (File menu) for that icon
Click on the icon in the upper left of the window
Select “Paste” (command-V) from the Edit Menu
    You’re done!
Please keep in mind that certain icons such as the Finder icon or the Trash Can icon can only be changed with helper apps like our very own CandyBar utility. Please visit the CandyBar homepage at Panic.com to learn more.

  • Using Templates/Drafts in Email with Attachments Mac Mail

    Hi,
I am trying to create a standard email that to send to new clients once they sign up. This standard email contains attachments and will need a few customizations (e.g.: Name, ad size, start and end dates, etc).
Is there a way to save a draft email that will not disappear once you send it to someone?
I am aware of saving as stationary, but stationary can't be saved with attachments.
In my previous PC/Outlook world, I would create an email with "_____"s in it to remind me to change these fields for the individual recepient (nothing worse than sending a client information that only pertains to the last client you sent it to). I would then simply open that email and click on the "____"s and fill in the info for the individual I'm sending to.
With Mac Mail and Drafts, I can create a template, but once I send it to someone, it deletes the draft. UGH! So frustrating!
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Mail/Mailbox/New Mailbox - select On My Mac to create the Mailbox. Then drag a copy of the draft there before you send the other one.
    See last post.

  • Mac Mail to Gmail truncates attachments names and removes exstenstions

I have a user that has mac Mail 2.1.1 and is on OS X 10.4.9. Sometimes when he sends mails to his colleagues, the attachments are truncated and the extensions are removed. For Example:
In Mail, he attaches a file called "Heid Survey.doc". Mail sends the file and the Sent mail looks ok. On a windows machine, using firefox and gmail.com, another person checks the email and gets an attachment named "heid". It does not recognize it as a word file. If the attachment is downloaded and the .doc added to it, it will open. If the same recipient checks the mail message in Mac Mail, the email and attachment come through fine.
I have tried this using both "Send Windows Friendly attachments" and with out it.
This does not always happen he reports, but I was able to recreate it with my gmail account and his laptop consistently. My Mac Mail shows the attachments fine as well.
I also tried to zip the file before sending it to gmail, and gmail recognized that it was a zip file, but when I tried to save it to the desktop on windows, it only saved the truncated version after gmail un-zipped it.
I do not know if this is a Mac Mail or a Gmail issue. I am not sure what is happening to these messages. Can any shed some light or give me some troubleshooting tips? Anything that I can try would be great. Thanks!

It has nothing to do with the contains. I believe it's a bug, and if you search translators lists like Systran's, you will discover this issue is spreading virically. Do not know what happens. What is known about this by embattled Mac users who now have to stop using Mail app: the phenomena begins out of the blue, one day works, one do not, it affects every file type (seems to be a problem with the name only, nothing to do with ASCII issues) and also, activating the "windows friendly" part does nothing. My case is really funny because I have one mac account with several mail accounts included, and it began with the main one (the others sent files ok) and now every account is affected. My boss is crazy with this. After a certain amount of time in the gmail account, the names appear fully sometimes, but obviously you can't tell a client, "sorry, you have to wait one day to check your mail, because I'm using Mac and it looks great, but it can't send attchments". Google says it's Apple's error, and Apple do not answer.
