OS 10.8.3 saves unwanted changes

Just upgraded OS to 10.8.3 from 10.6.?.  Have a couple of quirks I'm hoping someone can resolve.
1st one is, when I make any changes to a document in pages or a spreadsheet in numbers, I don't always want to save the changes.  In the past I would simple  close the document by hitting the red circle, but NOW it automatically saves my changes.  I need to control what changes I make and sometimes I don't want to save things.  After a 2nd review of the program, I don't even see a save option. 
Please tell me how to correct this so when I close a document I don't have to save it.
2nd issue involved safari.  I use to be able to have a screen open with whatever content I was looking at.  I then could select a website from my desk top and it would open a 2nd window.  Now it doesn't, unless I select a new window from the File before selecting a website off my desk top.  How do I make my safari program open a new window without me having to select one first.

You can enable a preference in Mountain Lion to ask you to save changes in System Preferences > General.

    If you don't need your old custom template, save your changes with the same template name. It will tell you that this template exists and will ask you Replace? Say yes (if you do want to replace the old with the new!)
    To delete unwanted templates, go to Finder > Menu > Go and press the option key. Your Library will show in the Go Menu. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iWork > Numbers > Templates > My Templates.
    Delete any unwanted template by dragging it to the Trash or click on it then command-delete.
    Having gone to all that trouble to find My Templates folder, right click (or control click) on it and Make Alias. Drag the Alias to any convenient place for a quick way to get back to that folder.

    here u need to 2 performs for PF status and USER_COMMAND in the ALV parameters.
    create a custom PF status and create push buttons and assign your ok codes in your PF status.

    If you add a new  slide with just a text box (therefore a very small amount of data),  to an existing presentation then save,  Keynote will only save the new content to the file,  it wont save  pre-existing content as its already included in the file.
    The time  taken to "save" will be very much shorter than a "save as" when all of the existing content is saved again.

    In your description you say the first document opens as the Title you gave it.
    Templates always open as Untitled so it sounds like you have saved a regular document, perhaps into your templates folder which is possible.
    Since you have already worked on it and it has been previously saved, Lion will now Save for you and Save a Version is available
    The other document does open as Untitled so sounds like a real template and as Peggy has pointed out will not have either Revert nor Save a Version until you Save it and have changed something in it.
    This is a classic example of just how Apple's supposedly "simplification" of the process, is leading to confusion of what has happened. That the conditions and resulting actions from those conditions is so convoluted says it all.
    It all reminds me of the Monty Python Life of Brian sketch with the "simplified" John Cleese instructions to the class, as to if you have a brother in an older dorm whether to hang your hat and bag on the hooks provided. The trouble is Apple does not get the joke, that it is transforming itself into a frequently self contradictory bumbling bureacracy. The price of unchallenged self appointed geniushood.
    The incoherent half baked stumbling juggernaut has reached new triumphs with its edict on enforced Sandboxing on developers when it is unable to follow even its own instructions.

    Actually the list was created with a custom content type. When i try to create a new form from the custom content type, it fails.
    However, when i try to create a form using item content type, it creates a form successfully.

  • How to suppress 'Do u want to save the changes?'  When there are no changes

    Hi All,
    I have developed one form,which contains 3 blocks in that 2 are database blocks and one is control block.It's working fine.When I close the form without doing any change also it is showing an alert as 'Do you want to save the changes you have made?'. How can I suppress that alert when I haven't made any change to the form.
    I am displaying one filed in the database block as 'null' until check box is checked.For that I have written code in when-new-block-instance trigger of that block.
    There I wrote SET_RECORD_PROPERTY (GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY (:SYSTEM.TRIGGER_BLOCK, CURRENT_RECORD), :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_BLOCK, STATUS, QUERY_STATUS); also to change the block status as query.
    But it is not working, still I am getting the alert,How can I solve this could anyone please give me a suggestion..

    So, this functionality can be done through CHECK BOX itself. Why you are making null by WHEN-NEW-BLOCK-INSTANCE. You can just set the update and insert property for that fields and rest things you can control from chexbox. And WHEN-BLOCK-INSTANCE-TRIGGER will fire once when you will access that block. If you want to set the same functionality for each record. Then you must use WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE. for ex.
    Trigger = WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE (BLOCK-LEVEL)
    Here i will assume that if check box is checked then he can update that fields.

    may be you are trying to modify the database item or reassigning the database item value which is not actually needed.
    try to comment the reassigning database values
    and give clear_form(do_commit);
    most probably u will not get the message again

    I have 4 datablocks in my forms that corresponds View.
    In the form design, I have a canvas(multiple inserting design) with two buttons that calls the other two blocks.
    Am inserting the records in the following way,
    In first record,
    am entering the value in one block, then a button-press event and so it opens another canvas where I enter some values then return to my main canvas. This is one row.
    But while I try to insert in the second row, there arises the dialog box as "Do you want to save the changes"?
    I should not get that dialog box.
    Please suggest me with the solution.

    I have 3 blocks created from view not table.
    I have a canvas in the multiple display layout i.e Number of items displayed is 10.
    In that canvas, I have set the two buttons. the button event is calling another canvas.
    Am inserting a record in the first row in the following sequence.
    Inserting the values for some fields in the main canvas, then entering the button, it opens another canvas that responds to another block, there am entering some values and closing the button event canvas, then returning to my main canvas, then entering the remaining fields with the values, thus my first row ends.
    Now I want to enter the values in the second row, while I navigate from the first Row to the Second row, there arises the dialog box as to save the changes or not?
    I should not get the dialog box.
    Am inserting the values in the database using Insert statements in all the blocks.
    Hope U understand the issue.

    It is View > Page Source and not Edit > Source, so you can't make changes to the source in Firefox.<br />
    You will have to do that via an external editor.<br />
    You can also override CS style rules with the Stylish extension.

    I keep getting a warning stating that the document could not be auto saved in pages. The file has been changed by another application. Then it says click save any way to keep your changes and save the changes made by the other application as a version, or click revert to keep the changes from the other application and save your changes to a version.
    What in the heck does all that mean, and why are they trying to behave like a Windows product or a Microsoft office product. I just don't get it.
    Why is another application changing my documents? It's like they've created a virus within their own programs. It's a pain in the neck and makes no sense.

    I am also having the issue of a warning saying "could not be auto-saved in Pages. The file has been changed in another application. I then hit "save anyway", the warning will go away for a time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hourr, but then the warming reapprears saying the same thing. This is not the case with all Pages documents but it is the case with many.

    When I did exactly as the JHeadstart Tutorial says, I noticed that
    in JHeadstart 10.1.2 with JDeveloper 10.1.2
    JHeadstart does not save any changes I make in the View Object Editor
    of the Application Structure File Editor !!!
    For instance when I change the Width property of an Attribute from 60 to 5
    it changes to 5, but when close the View Object Editor
    and reopen it again, the Width is back to 60...
    Even when I click the button "Validate the Application Structure File" before
    closing the VO Editor....
    What do I do ??? Is the only solution to edit the XML file
    or something like that without using the VO Editor ?
    Or is there a better solution ?
    Does it maybe work in an older version of JHeadstart ?
    If so, where is the older version available for download ?

    How did you leave the JHeadstart VO editor?
    The changes should be saved when you click the OK button in the VO editor itself, but they are not saved if you click Cancel, or the little cross in the upper right corner, or leave it open while going back to the Application Structure File editor. That's because it's a standalone editor (you can also find it when right-mouse-clicking the VO in the Model project). The icon in the Application Structure File editor is just a quick way to get to it.
