OS 10.9 no longer allowing scanning from dell 1355 CNW

It appears my Dell 1355 no longer will accept scanning after installing Maverick OS (10.9). Printing works, but scanning stopped after the Maverick install. I have the latest Dell drivers and firmware.. Solutions?

Use the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder for scanning ..
Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.
Launch Image Capture.
Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.
You'll see this pop up menu:   Connecting this (device) opens:
You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Imort To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.

  • Mail no longer allows pasting from MS Excel or MS Word into a message.

I used to be able to paste data from an Excel table directly into a Mail message in Mail.app but I have not been able to do that for some time now and I don't know what changed.  Granted I was never able to paste the table format into Mail but at least I could get the data from Excel and then just tweak the formatting.  However, another function I used to be able to do was paste a PPT sheet into Mail and I can no longer do that either.
Maybe I'm missing something but am I the only one experiencing this issue?
My only workaround at this point is to use Outlook 2011 but even then it doesn't paste like it used to.
Ideas?  (besides going with another email application)
    Thanks!

Try highlighting / selecting in Excel 2011, then use CMD+Option+C to copy.
I believe the option key is the magic here.
Use same when pasting into Mail (CMD+Option+V to paste).

  • After upgrading to OS 10.8.1 I can no longer scan from my Canon MP240 printer when it is connected to Airport Express.

I can no longer scan from printer (Canon Pixma MP240) when it is connected to Airport Express, although printing is no affected. However, when connected directly to MBP scanning works fine. I have tried all the standard remedies; reinstalling drivers, resetting printer system, selecting sharing options, but no luck. Previous to Mountain Lion this function worked fine. Any ideas how to regain this capability?
    Thanks,
    J.

I'm almost completely certain that the scanning feature worked before the update. Having said that though, I don't scan a great deal and it may be the case that when I have done, the printer was directly connected to the MBP. However, since I have a laptop it's far more logical that I would have had the printer connected to Airport Express for reasons of portability so I can't really see that I would have had the printer connected directly to the laptop. Besides this, I have no memory of having this problem previously. Therefore, I don't think my memory is to blame although of course, if it were I'd have no way of knowing!

  • Can no longer scan from my HP Photosmart C 4650 to my computer since upgrading to Maverick

I can no longer scan from my HP Photosmart C 4650 to my computer since I upgraded to Maverick.  I have to use image capture to do so.  Are there any fix's out there?

My C4680 works w/o any issues in the last four OSs. You might want to reinstall the 2.16.1 driver update.

My computer is no longer allowing me to import video from my Sony HDR camera.  I don't know if it is the operating system or the version of imovie or what.  I also have imovie 06 and I was always able to import into it and can no longer do that either.

This is probably due to a similar issue to a browser redirect.

Does this involve iPhoto i some way? Seems more like an issue with your web browser.

  • HP LaserJet MFP M476dw paper size mismatch when copying or scanning from ADF

We have HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw that has an issue when copying or scanning from the ADF.
Put a single A4 sheet in the ADF and choose copy, with all settings correct & no resizing, and the output copy is moved down the page (increased top marging by a couple of inches).
My initial thoughts were a paper size issue (e.g. treating A4 as Letter or vice versa) but all settings look correct.  I have even done a reset and started over and the problem remains.
If I take the original and place it on the flatbed and copy from there with all the same settings then it works fine.
There is a similar issue when scanning from the ADF.  Again, scanning from the flatbed works fine.
I've tried all I can think of.  Does anyone have any further suggestions?  Could it be a fault in the ADF?

  • Cannot initiate scan from Epson WF-4630 over wifi

I just bought a new Epson WF-4630 all-in-one, and it is set up wirelessly on my wifi network.  I can get it to print just fine, as well as scan AS LONG AS the scan is initiated from my Mac; if I try to initiate the scan from the unit, it tells me that it can't find a computer on which Document Capture is installed (Epson's required software).  It IS installed, and after hours on the phone, after hours on email, with Epson's technical support, they suppose it is a problem with my Mac.
I've allowed every Epson program access through the firewall, have no third-party firewall installed, have updated every driver, installed, reinstalled, restarted, deleted, redownloaded....  innumerable times.
    I've got an older 3.06 Core 2 Duo w/ 4G Ram, running OSX 10.9.5
    Any help?

  • Scanning from my iMac to HP 7500A

Can anyone help with this?  Adobe Support is not answering or responding to repeated calls and emails to Support asking this question.  We get promises to call or email back.... then nothing.
    Thanks.....
I was on the phone with Adobe support on 5 April for over an hour. I spoke with Rio and explained every detail of the issues we are
having with him. He "promised" to have an Apple specialist return my call later that morning. It has now been over a week.
I really don't need a call -- an email with detailed instructions of how to solve my problem would suffice....if you can send that.
Or am I to understand that Adobe is not compatible with Apple OS for scanning directly to a scanner. We have wrestled with this pro
blem for 9 months. We have hours and hours of staff time in speaking with Adobe, Apple and HP. Apple and HP both say the problem i
s Adobe and point out that it is possible to print and scan using Apple OS for all other products, including the Apple Image Capture
    application.
But, when I open Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, which we have owned since July, it does not see the scanner to allow scanning using "create PD
F from scanner" or any other menu selection.
If your software doesn't have this capability, just admit it so I won't continue to waste hours trying to solve a problem you haven'
t built the capacity to fix.
We have a new HP scanner -- Officejet 7500A -- the latest technology, but it's the same problem as with all the other scanners we've
    tried to use.
If you know how to fix this, write to me and give me secret to unlock this functionality.
If your software cannot make this happen through Apple OS, tell me that and suggest a workaround or other options.
We have been long customers of Adobe, and had success in the Windows platform. For many reasons, we have switched over the Apple.
I just need to know if you can operate there with us or not.

I don't believe you've ever answered - is this one of those ePrinters? So I've googled your specs and yes it is.
    So:
Does the Printer Portion work ? If so Go to system preferences > Printer Fax.
    Click on Scan.
Then go to Acrobat choose create PDF from scan  then
    Choose HP Scan
Why the heck the driver is not setup to use both the Printer and Scanner at the same time I'll never know. Note I am using my C310 as an example.
Also, if your using a wireless Router, you need to make sure the Printer/Scanner is setup for your router

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 - Can't scan from Windows

We recently purchased and installed an HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 to be used as a networked all-in-one solution for a number of offices. I have been able to get it set up on our network and have installed the appropriate drivers on the requested Windows 7 x64 machines, and network printing works perfectly. However, it seems that despite the fancy scanning features available from the all-in-one itself (scan to email, scan to a network folder, etc.), I can't find any way to do an old-fashioned scan from Windows.
I have installed the full software solution available on the driver download page for the device, and while Windows lists the device as a "Multi Function Printer; Scanner" it does not recognize it as an actual scanner. The built-in Windows Fax and Scan simply reports that no scanners are installed. The software installation did not include the HP Solution Center (which I am used to seeing from my experience with various other HP all-in-one devices) or any equivalent for direct scanning. The driver download page for the device does not include any separate scanning drivers, so I can't be certain if they were included with the full installation or exist at all. Some of our staff also use Adobe Acrobat to scan, and even that fails to recognize the MFP as a scanner.
We'll eventually be setting up the device to scan directly to a network folder, but we need a fallback while IT takes their time getting it set up; I can't imagine that the simplest option is not available at all. I must be missing something here, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: To add, I also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Interestingly, it reports the device as a printer and only offers to "Fix Printing" without any sort of resolution for my scanning problem.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • HP OfficeJet 6500 E709a: cannot scan from Windows 8.1; uninstall crashes at step 8 of 10

When I try to scan from Windows 8.1, launched from the HP Solution Center, it fails before giving me a preview, saying:
    Scanning error
    4,[(2,22,80040001),(3,22,0)]
When I run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and select "Fix Scan", it fails on the first check, saying it failed to find the driver. The text field that gets uploaded to HP includes the string "hpbxpsrender.dll: Not Found".
I tried uninstalling, using uninstall.bat in the "OJ_AIO_6500_E709_EntScruber_140" (HP OfficeJet Enterprise 14.0), which I downloaded from HP.com. It gets to step 8 of 10 ("removing unnecessary components..."); then it hangs and Windows 8.1 says "HP Installer Uninstaller has stopped working" and kills it.
I have tried running uninstaller in regular mode, in regular mode with my anti-virus / firewall (Kaspersky) paused (disabled), and in Safe Mode with Networking. Same result every time.
I have run the Installer without error. I can view the HP OJ status web page in my browser (http://192.168.1.5) from both computers.
I don't remember if scanning has ever worked on this computer. Scanning works on another computer (Windows XP). Both computers are wired (Ethernet) to the same network switch as the HP OJ.

    Hi DonaldPayne,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to scan to your HP Officejet 6500 with your computer running the Windows 8.1 Operating system. You have tried to uninstall the software but get an error message.  I see you have done ALOT of troubleshooting already, thank you for that, this allows me to see what has failed for you.
I would like you to continue here and complete the steps listed below:
    1. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    2. Type %programfiles% in the run field and click OK.

  • Cm1312nfi mfp on 32bit windows 7 - upgraded with full solution sw and can't scan from printer

I have had a cm1312nfi mrp since 2009 that works fine but my HP Solution centre stopped giving me ink levels.
I uninstalled the printer software and downloded the current full solution sw for 32 bit windows 7 from HP. The printer works but I did not 'get' HP solution centre back and so cannot scan from the printer.
[I did download HP toolbox so I can see ink levels and can test the scan function which does work. However it does not have the ocr capabiltity which I had before and also it doesn't allow me to operate the scanner from the printer.]
Can you help me either get HP solution Centre back and functioning on my computer or else suggest some other solution to my problem?

    Hi,
The HP Solution Center is a software for inkjet printers as the HP Officejet product line, not for laserjet printers as the CM1312.
You may find the Supplies status within the HPToolboxFX softwre by selecting Supplies:

  • Officejet Pro 8600 e. Problem scanning from Scan and Capture App in Win 8.1

    Officejet Pro 8600 e.  New.
Installed on HP Envy 23 Touch. Running Windows 8.1.
Wireless set up. Prints fine.  Problem is scanning from the HP Scan and Capture Software App in Win 8.1
Using Scan and Capture App I can scan photos fine.  They come out clear.  Scanning documents in GRAY has multiple bands/lines in gray over the entire page running vertically.  Scanning documents in COLOR are fine.
Also, if I scan from the printer directly using the touch screen on the printer, the scan output is fine.
I did the Scan utilty to discover any errors and it did not show any.  I think it's a software error.  I am going to uninstall the HP Scan App and then reinstall.  So, I will do the uninstall/reinstall and report back.
Also, I would like to know if there is a desktop program for scanning?  I would prefer to use that instead of the Modern HP Scan and Capture App.
    Thanks....

    Hi artrum,
I understand you've been experiencing issues scanning from your Officejet 8600 using the Windows Scan and Capture program. I will certainly do my best to help you with this!
From what you've explained, I believe you're correct, it does seem like it's an issue just with the Windows Scan and Capture program and as you've been able to scan from the front panel of the printer you definitely have the HP software installed. What I'd like to do is have you use the HP Scan software, where you should no longer run into issues.
To access the HP Scan software and be able to access it easily from your desktop I'd like you to follow the steps below:
    1. Go to your start screen and just start typing File Explorer. You should be able to then open it to access your computer's files.
    2. Then open Local Disk (C: ), followed by Program Files (x86), followed by HP, then HP Officejet Pro 8600, followed finally by bin.
    3. In the bin folder you should see HPScan. You will want to right click on HPScan and go to Send To and then select Desktop.
Now you should see HP Scan on your desktop and be able to open it and scan through that application.
Hope this helps, have a great day!
