If wjosten's tip doesn't work try plugging it into a USB charger (not through your computer), wait about 30 seconds and it should come on. If it doesn't remove the cord from the phone and keep trying this. I've had this same issue and found a combination of the reset & charging cable tends to work. Sometimes it takes about 5 minutes for the phone to respond.
    Best of luck.

  • They fixed the right click problem, but now there is a bigger problem

after updating, I can use my right click perfectly on Windows XP. however, my windows XP starts to restart very often-which means the "blue-sceen" comes out very often. I believe many poeple has this problem because I had already read couple of complains...Well...I hope apple can fix it soon.

I could not right click on my macbook's Precision aluminum unibody enclosure under windows xp, and after updating the trobubleshooter, it works. However, my windows starts to restart again and again (the blue screen) and it says it is because the applemtp.sys has some problems. I read couple of others people's experiences on the Internet, and they all so it started to happen after they fix the right click problem.

  • Has 4.1 fixed the Proximity Sensor issue for you?

At work, can't download 4.1 yet, but I'm eager to see if the Proximity Sensor issue will be fixed. This is my last straw, if 4.1 doesn't do it, I'm afraid I can't wait any longer. I need a phone..

For those who are slow on the uptake what is the issue with the proximity sensor? I have noticed no issues with mine.
We have three iP4s in our family and none are experiencing the Prox issue, but for those that do it is extremely frustrating. Proximity sensor system seems to fail and activate the keyboard at odd times allowing your face/ear to randomly press 'buttons' resulting in all sorts of weird behavior.
Got it. Mine is fine so I guess I should be grateful. Apart from the signal issues my phone works perfectly. I hope this update doesn't screw my phone up.

  • If two iphones were updated using the same apple id and now are receiving the same messages, how do i fix this?

Hey guys. So i recently downloaded ios7 for my iphone 4s and so did my mom. But my mom decided to update her phone as well using the same apple id. Now she is recieving all of my messages instead of me. Please let me know how I could fix this. Thank you.

Have your wife log in to her user account on the laptop. Launch iTunes, then connect her phone to the computer with the USB cable. Sync. That should put back all apps and media. Since you already upgraded her to iOS 5 she'll have to manually enter all her settings and preferences, and organize her home screens.

  • My iPod won't let me play music. It syncs just fine but the music won't play! I just took it in to fix it's restore problem, and now this is happening. HELP!!

I got my iPod on Monday, November 5th, so I've had it less then a week and I'm having so many issues with it. It would synce my music then when I tried again it synced the music, but it won't play so I tried to restore it and that made it worse. I had to take it to the apple store to fix it and now that it's restored I tried to sync it again and the same thing happened. It will sync the music but I can't play it. It's really frustrating, exspecially, because I just turned 17 and paid for this with my own, hard-earned money for a to-myself present!!

Based on what you tried, I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and press for a replacement iPod. Elevate to the store manager if necessary.

  • Those Who Got 'Reset All Settings' to Fix the Proximity Sensor Issue...

I thought I would start a thread dedicated only to the steps that people took to get their proximity sensor issues resolved. So far, there are only scant posts lost deep in huge threads.
For example, did you do a hard or soft reboot after you reset all of the settings? Did you make calls right away? Did you change all of your settings back first before making a call? Did you only change some settings before a call and then others after? Did you set up your visual voicemail right away? The reason why I am asking is perhaps there is a problem with a particular setting that we can narrow it down to...or maybe a certain combo of settings since resetting just the network settings seemed to work for some and not for others.
Also, if it worked, was it only a temporary fix?
Please post constructively. I have been following the threads for days, and I am well aware that this may be a hardware issue.

On my fifth phone and am currently working with an apple engineer to help investigate the issue. The best thing I've done to help temporarily is to reset all settings. That seems to hold for 24 hours or so but the issue always returns.
Hope you get something to work, but I'm fairly certain apple won't be able to do a firmware update to fix this or they would of already done so or at least mentioned it.
Thanks! That's what I was beginning to think as well...and it's also what I was most afraid of...

  • What is involved in fixing the kernel task problem and what are the consequences

Ah yes. The kernel task problem. My Macbook pro encounters it at least once every day. It peaks at around 600% CPU usage when I have MainStage or Logic open. A main stage patch that normally uses 40-45% of CPU is redlining at 100% cpu usage- resulting in awful clicks and pops. Did i mention this happened during a live show yesterday? Because it did. I can open the CPU monitor and look at whats going on. It's always the same deal. Kernel task runs it's course and then goes back to normal.
I've seen various posts on fixing the problem. I believe I understand how to fix it more or less (ish). I just want to make sure I can go about it in such a way that doesn't mess with anything else on my computer.
My computer: macbook pro 8.2 15' w/ crucial m500 ssd in main & optical bays. 8gb of ram. latest version of mavericks. Standard stuff.

ssd in main & optical bays
Your unsupported hardware configuration is likely contributing to the problem, if not entirely causing it.

  • TS1646 still doesnt fix the problem.

i have called the bank and everything is fine on thier end but itunes still will not let me update cc info. just keeps asking for a valid security code.  very frustrating!!!

Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is and your credit card company and anybody else they use has the correct information on their files, then try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • I updated to iOS 8.0.2 (the one supposed to fix the cell service issue) and now I have ZERO cell service. Only wifi.

    How can I fix this?

I have this same problem.  Visited 2 ATT tech supports, Apple Store, Tech support, other Apple tech support persons.  Changed SiM card twice.  Did multiple resets, full restore, IOS 8.0.2.  Wifi works fine.  Safari says it can not connect to server (WiFi off).  Hotspot continuously trying to connect.  Can't get to ATT ADN info.  No one has seen this.  They believe the phone is damaged but I believe this is a IOS 8.0.2 BUG.
I did 3 hour google search in multiple forums trying to see if someone has seen this.
Various similar scenarios but all were corrected by doing Network Reset.  This does not work.
So far have spent 18 hours working this and finally decided to go to Iphone 4 using SIM adapter.
Had to go to Iphone 4 and set it up for now.
    Anyone else???

  • I dropped my iPhone 5 outside in the rain all night and now it only shows the apple logo on my phone , any idea what my best options would be?

PPlease help me I don't know what my next step should be without having to break the bank

You should never try to turn on or charge a wet iPhone until it has dried for a week or so.
If you have tried to turn it on or charge it, then the damage is done.
You can buy an out of warranty replacement.  I believe it is $249-ish in the U.S

  • I have an iPhone 4 I done the update is06.1 and now I can't send picture messages

If anyone has any information regarding this please write back

Well, maybe you mean update iOS 6.0.1. What user troubleshooting have you done. They are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Are you trying to send via iMessage, or MMS?

  • Will the return policy be extended for the proximity sensor fix?

I've had a lot of problems with my new iphone, but the worst one is the proximity sensor. On 80% of my calls my cheek has accidentally muted, placed on hold, hung up on, called someone else, and/or started composing an email. The phone is unusable for me in this condition. If the proximity sensor gets fixed, I'd keep the phone. If it doesn't, then I can't keep it. My phone shipped on July 6. Will the proximity sensor fix be released before my 30 day return policy expires? Will the policy be extended until the fix comes out?

No one here knows any more than what was previously announced by Apple. We are just iPhone users like yourself - Apple doesn't officially participate in this forum.
A future software update to fix the proximity sensor problem was announced, but no date was mentioned. The 30 day return policy applies to all iPhones, for any reason. No extensions beyond 30 days have been announced.
