OS 4.5- Device hangs periodically

Hello,
I just upgraded to the Rogers version of the OS 4.5 for the Curve (8310)... Now the device appears hang or freeze for up to 10 minutes at a time... Periodically the device screen hangs or freezes and unless you pull the battery there is no way to get the screen to respond... If you wait about 10 minutes the device will start again... This appears to happen for most applications (IE I can be listening to music and the device will stop for about 10 minutes after playing 2-3 songs and then continue playing.. It also freezes on the main screen when the device is locked)... It has not frozen yet while I'm actually typing an e-mail... It almost appears that the device is doing something in the back ground like scanning a SIM card or responding to some OS request...
I had noted from one of the other forums that this could be due to a SIM card so I reformatted the card and reloaded the music and files back to the blackberry...
Any ideas on what this could be and how to stop it...

I am betting you upgraded the OS to 4.5, and you have a Media Card in the device, and the OS is constantly rescanning the Media Card. Common issue for a few after an OS 4.5 upgrade..
Remove your Media Card, first, reboot and your BB should be fine.
Then read this on how fix the Media Card (courtesy of John Clark, another expert here in the Forum)
1. Removed the Media Card from the device and put in a card reader. This makes the rest of the process much quicker. However, you can do it with the card in the device.
2. Copy the entire contents of the card to your PC.
3. Put the card back in the device and go to Options >Media Card >Menu key >Format Card. This will wipe the card and reformat it. (if using a card reader remove the card and put it back in the reader.)
4. Now copy back JUST the media to the device. Do NOT copy back any "BBthumbs.dat" files or any system files. I went through the entire folder and deleted every .dat file before copying the contents of the music folder and pictures folders back to the device. The device will recreate these files. Also, I didn't copy the actual "music" folder but rather just copied the contents and pasted in the card's \Blackberry\music folder. Do this for each folder.
5. When finished put the card back in the device and try the Media App again. It should scan for music. If you have lots of music it can take 5-10 minutes. During scanning you can open the Music app and you should be able to see the songs moving around in the list as the device scans
If after transferring all your files back you still get a stuck scanning bar or device reboots then you have a conflicting file on the card. I've seen video files do this but it could be a music file too or (less likely) a picture file. Remove all the files you transferred and see if the reboots stop. Then add back each folder one at a time to see if you can narrow down to the folder that's causing it. Once you find the folder then you can narrow down to a particular file.

IOS 5.0.1 upgrade, devices hangs in shuffle mode

Hello, I have an original iPad and the newest iPod touch and ever since the iOS 5.0.1 upgrade, both devices hang after a while when playing either all songs or a playlist in shuffle mode. It gets to a point where the song playing doesnt match the song displayed then on the next song it hangs. At this point I have to close iTunes and start over. Sometimes it hangs after a few songs and sometimes after 30-40 minutes.
This has made shuffle mode unusable ( which is what I primarily use). It never did this prior to 5.0.1. Thoughts?

I did the back-up / restore option all from within iTunes. Still no problems so that appears to be the fix until Apple recognizes it and puts out a fix.

2008 R2 RDS Device Cals Period

The server's grace period should automatically end as soon as a purchased Per Device RDS CAL is issued to a device. For example, you install RDSH and RD Licensing, set the Licensing mode to Per Device, Specify the Licensing server name, Activate the
RD Licensing server, install RDS Per Device CALs, then connect twice from a PC. After completing this the RDSH server should be out of the grace period and you should see in RD Licensing Manager that the Per Device CAL was issued to the

USB devices hanging system

So i recently decided to try my ipod in arch so i can finally dump windows. Everything seemed to run fine until the tracks were copying, then my wireless signal dropped by half, then i realized i had no connection at all. My wicd had frozen. So i thought maybe neither devices were running in usb 2.0. But they both show as using EHCI. So i rebooted my computer and tried again and it keeps happening. I thought it might have been KDE specific since i had issues before while copying albums to a pendrive.
I tried in Gnome, same thing. There was nothing in dmesg. All i could see was when i was restarting, the wicd daemon couldn't be stopped. Then i was thinking it could be the motherboard. It's an Asus M3A78 Pro, 780G chipset. Since it sometimes hangs on 'initializing usb devices' while posting. But i don't seem to have any usb issues in Windows. I'm using Arch 64-bit and the stock arch Kernel 2.6.28.

Have you tried removing all Apple software like iTunes?
What powersupply do you use?
Also turn off the restart on error in windows so you see the error.

Mass storage removable devices hangs my application

Hello everyone,
starting from Windows 8.1 connecting a USB mass storage device that are read only but doesn't have read only flag set in the volume descriptor would cause the system to enumerate the volumes very slowly. This could be solved by turning the Search/Do not
allow locations on removable drives to be added to libraries Group policy on.
This however hangs Windows 10 at startup and if any application tries to access the volume it hangs too for several minutes. And the group policy settings doesn't seem to fix the problem anymore.
Sure this is the device's problem but the driver should not block the system or any other application and if set so it should not attempt to write to the MSC device.
Does anyone experience similar problems, is there some other switch that would help me?

BB Curve 8320 OS 4.5 hangs periodically, makes the phone unusable

I have a T-Mobile Curve 8320 running OS 4.5 whcih I updated from the web on my laptop, and installed to the BB device via a USB cable. I also am running the latest BB desktop software, 4.7.
I'm having hanging issues where a clock icon appears on the screen and makes the BB impossible to use for several minutes. This happens several times throughout the day and is very frustrating.
I do not use a media card. I am, however, using Google's synch software for my calendar. I wonder if that's causing the hang.

Low Memory. 4mb file free is severely lacking. You need upwards of 15mb file free.
First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free? Now, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot. What is the File Free now?

JMXConnectorFactory.connect Hangs periodically

Whenever trying to establish a JMX connection to a remote managed device there appears to be a hang when invoking the JMXConnectorFactory.connect. This behavior is exhibited operatically but there have been several successful connections to the same remote device prior to the hung attempt. We are using the optional protocol for JMX which is JMXMP so additional dependencies on the jmxremote.jar and jmxremote_optional.jar. I know there are some timeout properties that can be set as apart of the environment map that is passed into the connect but it seems to have no impact on the hang. From researching there have been several enhancements to both of these jars and we are currently on the 1.0 version. Would upgrading to the 2.0 version potentially solve this issue? Would the timeout property be recognized? Switching from 1.0 to 2.0 is a non-passive change as well which could complicate things.

I solved the issue by downloading & adding the spring-beans.jar to the classpath.
FYI
But the above line is also throwing an exception
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/springframework/context/support/ClassPathXmlApplicationContext
Even though the jar files are in the build path. Please tell how to overcome this

Disconnect Bluetooth Device After Period of Inactivity

I have connected a bluetooth device successfully, and it remains paired through power cycles. I'm attempting to now get the device to disconnect after a certain period of inactivity. The device is a ps3 controller, if that matters.

I guess I could also solve the problem by attaching the WIRELESS printer with a cable to the router, but HP is selling thise products as wireless, so why should I have to do that?

DAQmx Reset Device hangs

I have PXI-8110 controller with 10 PXI cards in them. When I try to reset these cards using "DAQMx Reset Device.vi", code hangs. There is no way to recover from this but to cycle power on the PXI controller.
Ofcourse, this happens rarely.
I'm using LabVIEW 2009, MAX 4.6.1f0

Do you receive any error message? Are you handling the errors with a Simple or General Error Handler? Can you manually reset the devices in MAX?

Device hanging a lot

I got my BlackBerry Torch about less than a month back from RIM, but, the device has been hanging a lot. I haven't really installed apps yet, except 1. Will reinstalling the OS help? If so, how can I do it? Thanks! ;D

Win 7/Office 2010 hangs periodically - Network Problem?

Hi,
Our situation:
We have one user (out of 60) at our company whose computer periodically goes into "spin cycle" and she must reboot it because it won't respond. This happens a couple of times a week. Generally, she always has Outlook 2010 open, along
with a browser. We have tried two different computers with the same setup (Win 7/MSO2010) and we are still seeing the "spin cycle". We have tried two different Ethernet connections to our LAN switch and tried different ports on the LAN
switch. We are not sure what else to check, or where to begin looking. Could this have anything to do with DNS or DHCP or ??
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How about your problem now? In my opinion, its hard to identify what's the specific reason of this hung problem. Which app's process that came into Spin Cyle? Windows Explorer or Outlook, or both of them?
To troubleshoot the problem, firstly, you can try to check Event log or Problem Report in Action Center. Generaly speaking, both of them would record the events of system hung.
In addition, did you install any program before this problem occures? 3rd extension or app is most possible to cause this problem.
If there is any progress about your poblem, please feel free let me know.

SQL Developer hangs periodically

Hi,
I'm connecting to my test instance (Oracle XE) and each 5mins-10mins SQL Developer hangs. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, I can be executing a big query or I wasn't doing anything for a while and then simply consulting Columns of a table and hangs...
I saw the underlying error is:

1.6.0_05 JDK hangs periodically on Solaris 9

Hi,
We currently got a customer, where application server had to be installed to Solaris 9 system and we've got a problem, that entire JVM hangs permanently sometimes, usually under a heavy load. This happens with 1.6.0 JDK (as our product requires 1.6 as minimum version). The same JDK and application never raised similar problem in version 10 of Solaris.
So, are there any official or non-official recommendations on JDK 1.6 and Solaris 9 compatibility and/or recommendations on such pair ?
Our application server is self-contained WAR file, running under Jetty or under external web container, if this does matter. We've played with several GC algorithms and options, but never get a stable result. Usually, hang occurs one-twice per week and typically under a heavy load (large number of users, connecting to the server and initiating server to fire various SQL read/update requets via Hibernate).

Have you tried double clicking?
If this doesn't solve the issue, you might want to try using a different version of the browser and disable the pop up blocker on your browser.

ITunes match remove music from device after period of time?

I've been having a problem with iTunes match where it seems to remove copies of my music from my iOS devices (iPhone 4s and iPad 2) every so often (seems to be about every 90 days). I've noticed though that any songs I bought off iTunes on the device or have downloaded from the purchased section off iTunes are not deleted. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to turn it off so files are kept?

Specifically:
Make sure iTunes Match is turned on.
Please see this article for information about turning on or adding a computer or device to iTunes Match.
If iTunes Match is already enabled on your computer or device, try turning iTunes Match off and then on again.
On your Computer choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match, then Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
On your iOS device tap Settings > Music > iTunes Match Off, then Settings > Music > iTunes Match On.
And sadly, you apparently can delete a song from Match from your phone.
I am sorry, but no, you can't. If that were true, you would no longer see the song in your music library on your computer, and it would most likely be gone forever. The only way to remove an item from iTunes Match:
To delete an item from iCloud in iTunes
From a computer with iTunes Match enabled, open iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your computer. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Click Music on the left side of iTunes.
Select the item you would like to delete. Right-click the item and then choose Delete.
You will be asked to confirm this action.
If the item you want to delete exists in iTunes on your computer as well as in iCloud, click the checkbox to also delete the item from iCloud.
Match is a train wreck. They need to make it work simply and intuitively.

My firefox has recently began to hang periodically.

Often for up to a minute, and the computer registers it as 'not responding' although it usually starts to after a few seconds if I leave it. Usually. I disabled all addons, and reinstalled firefox, it persists. I can think of nothing I changed before this began.

I am having the exact same problem. Identical symptoms. I have tried everything suggested. Clean install, reset, running without plugins, checked virus killer, checked firewall, checked for malware and viruses, nothing. This problem only started after upgrading to Firefox version 22. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Please look into this problem. After searching the internet quite extensively I can tell you that it doesn't appear to be a new problem. The pages will stop loading or rather they are loading but nothing actually appears, at random intervals. Sometimes it can go hours before a problem sometimes minutes or seconds. The only way to get webpages to load again is to kill firefox (including in the task manager) and restart. The program hangs in the task manager as if it has crashed.
