OS 4.5 screwed up my Curve!

Bear with me...
Ok, so I have the Curve 8320 from T-Mobile. Ever since I upgraded from OS 4.2 to OS 4.5, my Curve has been screwed up! I have contact T-Mobile multiple times on this and they've sent me 2 replacement phones - and I am still having the same issue. They say it's not a "known issue" with OS 4.5, but if anyone can help me with any or all of these issues, or anyone can relate, please help!
Issues (since I upgraded to OS 4.5):
1. My File Total number is gone (Under Options > Status , it used to show File Total and File Free - now it just shows File free)
2. I have no more preloaded wallpapers
3. I cannot save pictures that I take on my camera anymore. I get a 'File system full' message. Also, I cannot move pictures into a created folder. I do not have a lot of pictures, nor ringtones, so I don't think it's because my memory is full? If that's the case, do I need to buy a bigger memory chip or something?
4. I cannot download ringtones anymore from my favorite free ringtones site. My downloaded ringtones do not show up on my ringtones list anymore
Ok, now the 2 major issues:
5. The manage internet email icon screws up my Browser icon. I have my Browser homepage set to Google. I click on the Manage internet email icon, let's say, to add a new email address. Now,when I go to my Browser icon, it takes me to the last page I was on under the Manage internet email - not to Google. If I click 'homepage', it now takes me to t-zones homepage - even if I change my default homepage to google again. Grrr..
6. My trackball and keyboard sometimes lights up and sometimes doesn't light up. It sometimes goes dark in the middle of texting or something. Sometimes I start texting or browsing around my phone while the trackball and keyboard are dark, and all of a sudden - it lights up. At first I was thinking there was some kind of sensor in the Service light, but it shouldn't magically light up or turn off in the middle of me playing around with my phone.
This is the reason why T-Mobile has sent me 2 replacement phones. They don't know why this is happening. I think it has to do with the OS 4.5, but they say it's not a "known issue" and it shouldn't be doing that.
Can anyone help at all? Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I have the same problems as you on #2 and #3. I haven't tried some of the other things you mentioned. But my phone is totally boned. I haven't found a solution to this yet. Info is hard to find on this problem. I'm thinking about ditching this 8320.

  • RGB Curves & Samplers

What a great addition to have individual RGB curves.  This is a great enhancement to LR's ability to correct color.  Used in concert with the RGB percentages in the histogram window I just did a quick correction and it worked great.  Something I'd love to see included in the future would be the ability to lay down color samplers for shadow, midtone, and highlight references.  Using the targetted adjustment tool I was able to focus on an area of (supposed to be) neutral midtone and adjust each curve.  The challenge is when going back to the same spot if you're not precise you'll add another target location and screw up the curve.  Granted, you can directly control the previously created point on the curve and use the before/after RGB percentage values in the curve window but you lose sight of the other channels.  Perhaps in lieu of samplers having a window that showed all RGB values as well?

As it may not make the final release, and we wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, might I suggest adding the request to the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked?  If you post the link to your request here, others can also vote on your request.

  • Rendering Intent

Lately, I've come to the conclusion that the proper rendering intent for printing is Absolute, with the caveat that there is no out of gamut colors with which to accommodate. The text in the selection menu for this function states that Absolute is best for simulating a particular device. Well, duh, it's the monitor I want to simulate, not some veiled look supplied by Perceptual or Relative.
So why are those two the recommended pick? There is no shift in dynamic range when invoking Absolute as soft proof unless there is trouble in gamut. If little to no shift between Relative and Perceptual can be seen, use Absolute.
You don't know how much screwing around with curves etc I have gone through trying to match Perceptual to the screen w/o soft proof enabled.
Who decided on the algorithms for these functions, and what was the criteria, particularly visual? It sure sells a bunch of ink and paper trying to get it right!

    Addendum:
Been doing a bit of reading:
    http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/color-space-conversion.htm
    From the article:
"Absolute colorimetric preserves the white point, while                 relative colorimetric actually displaces the colors so that the old                 white point aligns with the new one (while still retaining the                 colors' relative positions).  The exact preservation of colors may sound appealing, however                 relative colorimetric adjusts the white point for a reason.                  Without this adjustment, absolute colorimetric results in                 unsightly image color shifts, and is thus rarely of interest to                 photographers." (Emphasis theirs)
So, I took my test image and proceeded to ad a grayscale to the bottom and printed both Relative and Absolute. The results show that the gray scale shifted color in Absolute, very slightly from neutral to a barest cream color, which corresponds to a gray value I knew to be quite neutral, but slightly low in blue, to more neutral in Relative. This is what I expected to find based on the above definition.
I also noted that the first and last stop of the 21 step part were clipped back to 19 steps in Absolute. I can easily do that with levels, if that's all it takes.
No unsightly colors appeared in the image. I showed the two images to ma associate, who is a colorist by training, and her selection was the Absolute. (Interestingly, after running it I tended toward the Relative! As Jeff said YMMV, but in this case, slightly!).
My whole effort is this: I want to obtain the maximum dynamic range of which the paper/ink is capable. I will specify the white point as I can using the info palette. After that, I want the conversion to do what I asked...white is white black is dMax of the combo. This shading back from this standard by the rendering intent is counter intuitive, as well as counter productive.
So it comes down to this:
What is meant by color accuracy
What is meant by the white point.
I define color accuracy to be what I see on the screen, pre soft proof, white point to be the white of the paper. If I want to depart from that I can do so at will, but to try to get it to match the screen before even departing is a load I wish not to have. The most reliable way to do this would be for the Info palette give out the actual numbers after invoking the soft proof.
But I suppose that's asking too much!
    Thanks for looking.

  • Google Maps no longer works for my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. What is wrong with Google???

For the past 11 months, Google Maps and Gmail have worked wonderfully with my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. Tonight, all of it stopped working. I tried to load Google Maps and failed. Kept getting the error message "Network Unavailable, blah blah blah". I tried restarting the phone, removing and reinserting the battery, until I finally uninstalled Google Maps. Now when I point my browser (OperaMini) to m.google.com to download and reinstall Google Maps, it says "Sorry the Google Maps application does not work on your 8330." This makes NO sense. Why would Google suddenly remove support for my phone? Is there a work around? Before uninstalled, I tried all sorts of tricks with editing permissions to no avail.
Also, Gmail is refusing to check mail, occasionally saying that a data connection is needed. That also makes NO sense as I have great phone reception.
My internet (OperaMini) and normal calling and texting capabilities are unaffected.
In conclusion: Is there ANY WAY to get these Google applications to reinstall and work on my phone? Or has Google screwed me over? Any help would be tremendously appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hyun

  • How to get Iphoto to work again after Dropbox screwed it up?

I had never used Dropbox and opened an account primarily as a backup for photo storage.  I moved my Iphoto library to the Dropbox folder. After a week of Dropbox churning tens of thousands of “files” without really uploading, I realized something was wrong and have since learned there is some disconnect in how Dropbox handles Iphoto.  Something about symlinks, but I don’t need to know.
That’s not my question. I moved my Iphoto library back to Applications.  All the photos appear still to be there, but I’ve lost functionality.   I can’t advance from photo to photo within an “event,” or edit photos through Iphoto.  The link to my external editor (PS Elements 10) also doesn’t work any more.  I can’t send an individual photo to PS, or open a photo from the Iphoto library in PS.
Screw Dropbox, I won’t try to use it again.  But how do I get Iphoto to work again like it used to?  It seems like Iphoto has somehow been de-linked from the Iphoto library.
    Thanks,
    Case

I dragged and dropped the Iphoto library to the pictures folder and now the library appears in BOTH pictures and applications. (The Iphoto library icon in the Pictures folder has the little curved arrow indicating a link.)   Should I have copied and pasted?
When I open Iphoto, it goes to one of the recent pictures in the library and the regular menu appears on the left (events, etc.).  But I can't advance to different pictures within in the folder.  I hit "edit" and none of the editing functions come up.  I right-click on the photo to bring up the usual options like edit in external editor and nothing happens.  As I said in my first e-mail, it links but has no functionality.
You say to do a restore.  I've been backing up my Mac with My Book Studio and Time Machine, but never tried to restore from the My Book.  The last backup was a month or so ago.  Is that the kind of restore you're talking about?  Can I just restore Iphoto (and iphoto library?) without messing with everything else?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Issues with my Curve 9330

Let me start by saying I have been searching for an answer to my questions for a while both here and other places and I haven't found much. I am new to the world of Blackberry so forgive me if I screw something up here.
The first problem that I am having is with email. I have a gmail account and my emails used to delete off the phone when I deleted them from the computer at gmail.com. Now they stay forever and I have to delete them off the phone too. I don't know what happened to cause the issue. I did upgrade to the new OS6 but was having some issues with that too and reverted back to OS5. I did have the email issue with OS6 also but not before I upgraded. The other issue I was having with OS6 was the cursor would just move itself without any input from me. It would always move down and to the right. I did like OS6 for the most part but couldn't deal with the cursor issue and email issue. I thought when I reverted back to OS5 that the email issue would be fixed but it was not. I have tried deleting the account and adding it back and that dont work. I have tried to download the gmail plugin again and I can't download it I get an error. I just don't know what to do with this to fix it. Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the Support Community!
Please try connecting your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9330 smartphone to a computer without the battery inserted and trying to reload the BlackBerry® Device Software. Once the software load has already started, reinsert the battery. For further instructions, please see:  How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader. www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
This process will remove all data from your BlackBerry Curve smartphone. Since it is not detected by your computer, you will not be able to backup your data first, but if you have a previously taken backup file, you can restore your data from that backup.

  • 8300 Curve duplicate entries in Calendar

    Hi
    BES
    8300 Curve
Currently I have a user that has duplicate entries in her calendar. When I'm in  the Calendar and select Options then choose select Calendars I have four options
    Show All
    Calendars
    Desktop
    Desktop
I have desktop twice and that is why I think she is seeing  two entries in her calendar. How do I go about removing the second Desktop. I'm new to BB so could you provide me with instruction. I saw an option to wipe the BB but will this affect all her phone  numbers that are stored on the phone. What exactly will it wipe out on the BB?

I got duplicate entries after updating device software. I sync with outlook and outlook does not have the duplicates. I have the same question as you,,how to wipe out the dups without screwing up my original entries or entries in outlook.

  • Thanks for the crappy software that nuked my Curve. My decision to get an iPhone just got easier.

After the initial sync, my Curve now looks like I just bought it. No more emails on my device, calendar failed to sync, mysterious error messages with no corresponding KB article here, it even forgot my timezone. Thanks for the lip service, but I'm taking my business back to Apple where they have engineers who give a **bleep**.

I'm having the same issues as the first user and this is now the third time that it appears I am going to have to rebuild/restore my entire berry.  I'm sorry guys, but I don't want to have to do this once a month - if I was a fan of restores and repairs, I'd get a PC.
When I first restore, syncing works fine.  Then, within a week or so, my syncing only works properly if I do it one way.  (By clicking "Replace all contacts on this Blackberry device" - if I don't select that option, one of two things will happen.  The Blackberry will miraculously have duplicates of every entry in the address book OR the syncs will fail right at the outset.  So for a few weeks, I have to remember to click that little option to replace the contacts.  Inevitably, later that month (3 times now), no syncs will work.  I'll just get repeated 'sync' failed efforts.  No amount of restarts or power cycles will fix anything and essentially, the BB is screwed.  The second time it happened, the BB actually replaced every one of my contacts with a random contact in the list.  I had the same Richard repeated 300+ times.
It's a good thing I do regular back-ups, except that the back-ups don't remember any of my preferences and I have to redo all my settings and accounts.  Essentially, this is a load of BS.  The berry itself works fine as long as I power cycle it once a day - but the syncing application is a disaster.
Furthermore, the calendar sync has NEVER worked.  All I ever get is a blank calendar, which is silly since my iCal is packed with events.  Also, the Clear Device Data never works, which is also a bit crap - because that seems to me to be the easiest way to fix this.
Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be harassing my provider to get me a new handheld because the Desktop Manager Software ruined mine.
The next time this happens, I imagine I'll be switching to an iPhone.  (Which I absolutely DO NOT want to do because I detest the touch screen keyboard an would much rather prefer to use my Curve's tactile QWERTY.)

  • Problem with installing OS on Curve 8300

Hey everyone ... I just got a new Blackberry Curve 8300 today, and I think I screwed up when trying to update it. I have downloaded the desktop manager as well as the handheld software from AT&T. I have gotten a "507 Error" which I've read means that there is not an OS on the phone. Now, I have gone back and tried to install the software from scratch. When I bring the desktop manager up, it shows that the phone is not connected, even after I click on that USB port. Then, I start to load all the software on the phone with the battery out at first and then I put it in after it begins loading. Now, it says "Connecting to device" and the phone has an hour glass flipping on a white background. Can anyone tell me what to do? It seemed like it loaded the software, but now it can't connect. Thanks!

Nevermind ... I guess I was just being impatient. After about 15 minutes, it finally connected.

  • Recording audio through a changing tempo curve...

I'm trying to record an audio track in one of my projects, and i have the tempo curve set to gradually slow down over a few bars, then pick back up. After I had set all this, I tried to record a guitar track over it. Whenever the playback gets to the tempo change, it "analyzes the audio file", and then completely screws it over in that section, pushing everything else on the other end so nothing syncs up anymore. Is there a way to get it to not do this?

I have a Keystation 49-e. I don't know how to use the "internal" sound synths for which it is supposed to be set. However, I have learned that I can input "notes" into a track only AFTER I have applied a "MIDI" instrument to it from the list of those within Logic or from other MIDI instruments external to Logic.
    Anyse

  • Swapped SIM to new Curve, no contacts

Hey guys, I am in desperate need for help because of my job. I need my phone to be in working order by tomorrow. My 8300 Curve died on me today out of nowhere. It wouldnt boot up and just flashed red. I decided to swap my SIM into my sisters old Curve. The phone makes calls and recognizes my number, but none of my contacts are loaded. I cant import them, because it says they aren't there, and there arent any filters on either. Am I screwed or is there a magical answer to uncover my contacts? Thank you in advance

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 Trackpad

Hi, my Curve 8520 recently developed a trackpad problem. Basically, it wouldn't move in ant direction at all. So, I sent it off to Phones4u, hoping they'd fix it, however, the sent it back to me and I was told it had suffered 'water condensation'. And then said it wasn't 'economical' for them to repair it.
After complaining, I got absolutley nowhere. So I just went to my local mobile repair centre and they replaced my Trackpad. I paid £20 and thought that was the end of my problems. However, 1 week later, I was back in the same position with a broken trackpad and a useless mobile. I then took it back to the shop that 'repaired' my BB and they put a brand new part in in front of me and i presumed it'd work. And lo and behold, it's broken again!!
I'm now rather annoyed, and was wondering whether anyone could help me and possibly shed some light onto my situation.
    Thanks, Mark

I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR YOU....
REMOVE THE BATTERY AND SIM OF YOUR PHONE AND IF YOU WANT IT TECHNICALLY PERMANENT REPAIRED JUST OPEN THE BACK METAL PLATE USING A T5 TORX SCREW ANDSLIDE THE METAL PLATING TO THE RIGHT AND OPEN IT AND YOU WILL SEE YOUR TRACKPAD AND THE WIRE CONNECTED TO IT. PUT A FOAMM TAPE IN THAT AREA YOU SHOULD CUT THE FOAM TAPE IN HALF AND STICK IT THERE THEN PUT THE METAL PLATING AND THE TORX SCREW THERE AFTER YOU CLOSE THE METAL PLATING JUST PUSH THE CLOSED METAL PLATING AND PUT YOUR SIM AND BATTERY AND CLOSE THE BACK COVER ET VOILA!!! NOW YOUR BLACKBERRY IS REPAIRED...
    FOR A QUICK FIX...
REMOVE OUT THE BATTERY AND SIM OF YOUR PHONE AND JUST PUSH THE METAL PLATE AT THE BACK OF THE TRACKPAD (DO NOT FORCE IT) AND PUT THE SIM AND BATTERY BACK... THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY...

  • 8520 curve white screen? HELP

can anyone help? I had my phone in my pocket & it stopped working - well the screen was all white with some coloured lines down the side - as i had not damaged it myself i sent it away to tesco as it is only about 7 months old.  They informed me they couldn't do anything as it had suffered physical damage (must b very sensitive is all i can say!!) they said when i phoned it was the LCD so i opened my phone up - to discovered they hadn't even done that - the caps were still on the screws!!! but anyway i ordered a new LCD but the screen is still white as before - any1 got any other suggestions on what i could try? it is a curve 8520.

    Hey,

and also I tried the link you provided and that didn't work either

  • Screws at the back of the bb

i was going to replace the housing on my bb curve 9300 but the one of the screws didnt come out and i think the top of the screw has eroded or smoothe out so i can screw it out !
is there any way of getting the screw out ?

    Ugh, not a good situation..
A screw extractor is a very hard reverse-thread bit. You drill a hole into the screw, then carefully tap the proper extractor (which has a smaller initial diameter than the hole, and quickly flares out) into the hole, and use it to twist out what is left of the screw. The reverse flutes on the extractor cause it to bite harder into the metal of the screw as you put more force on it. Screw extractor bits are made of very hard metal, so they are very brittle. It is very easy to break one off inside the screw.
You can also drill out screws using  special bit, similar to the above.
