OS 5.0.1 Update Causing SIM Failure?

I updated my OS 5.0 to the new 5.0.1 yesterday and ever since I get these messages "SIM Failure". My phone goes to "No Service" and I have to turn the phone off and back on again to get service. Is anyone else having trouble with this and, if so, does anyone know if there is a fix?

Good news. There is a fix. I had the same problem since the 5.0.1 update. Phone techs - including level 2 - knew nothing about it. But at my local Verizon store a manager did have SIM failure information in his database. He undertook a fix which seems to have solved the problem. He explained the error has to do with (non)activation of the SIM card when the phone was first set up. It was not activated at that time. When 5.0.1 searched for an activated SIM card, because it was not activated earlier, the error message appeared. The manager activated the SIM card this morning and the problem has not occurred again today.

I could only confirm what didn't help in my case:
- removing card was working only for 2-3 weeks
- replacing sim card didn't help
- rebooting device didn't help neither
- reseting device - te same story.
It is widely reported issue for iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPad2, iPad mini after upgrade to IOS 7.0.6 or 7.0.3
Funny is that in my case only SIM card from not supported by Apple GSM operator works (I've tested about 12 SIMs).

Lenovo update causes startup failures

I just used the Lenovo update and now my W520 throws several failures on boot. It also caused a BSOD. Specifically my W520 is running Windows 7 and I get popups saying "There was a problem starting C:\Program The specified module cannot be found." it also says "You cannot install an older versio of Bluetooth software over a newer versino ... [-349].
Also PC Doctor won't run and the system BSOD whn I attempt to connect an external monitor. All this after I updated using the Lenovo update.
HELP!!!!

8.2.4 Acrobat update cause print failure

Once 8.2.4 update installed on Vista Enterprise PDF printing no longer works. All applications error out. Ran the Adobe fix command and rebooted. Printing still fails.
Is there an easy way to roll back to the previous version?
Are there any plans by Adobe to quickly release another patch?
Any other ideas on how to correct?

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

Just updated my iphone 4s and now my phone says sim failure

I just updated my iphone 4s to ios 6.1.3 and then a message came up saying 'sim failure' and it said 'invalid sim' where my carrier name should have been at the top. I turned it off and on again to try to fix this but now it just says searching where my carriers name should be.Now it wont let me send texts or phone anyone because it says my number is unknown.
Does anyone know how to fix this without having to get a new sim card?

Remove and re-insert the SIM.
If the problem continues, replace the SIM.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

No Sim , Sim Failure , No service when updated to 5.0.1 (9A406)

I am the owner of Iphone 4S and it was working fine (5.0) until i upgrade to 5.0.1(9A406).
Now I am facing alot of network issues. I need to dial like 4 to 5 times then only my call gets connected althought it shows full network coverage.
In short , it says NO SERVICE ans SIM FAILURE. I even restored the sowftware from ITUNES but i am still facing the same problem.
I am using the phone in India .
Can any one tell me how I can downgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.0 ???

I am also phasing same problem, I brought my phone 4S (factory Unlock version) in December it was ok for 1 month after than i am same phasing issue like network drops, Sim failure etc even i have tried 3 carrier (Idea, Airtel and Aircel). I have also restore SW 4-5 times but of no use.

I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am experiencing constant network fluctuations on my iphone , no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/bars searching etc... Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet.. I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Many thanks. its so disgusting to experience this on top of this apple does not support global warranty for the phone as you need to go to the country from where you bought the phone for replacement.. Sim not recognised / SIM failure

Hi all, hope you can help a frustrated iphone 3GS user
I was given the phone by a friend a few days ago and had it unlocked (from Orange) before I flew home to Spain.
I put in my Vodaphone payg sim card but the phone keeps coming up as sim failure. I managed to get the phone to synch with my itunes account by putting it in flight mode, I can get the wifi working, music .. everything ... but can I get it to recognise the sim card and let me make a call ... no!!!!!
I know the Vodaphone sim card works as I have another phone here. In settings / phone / my number is showing "unknown". At the bottom is still an Orange button so you can link to their site
Sometimes it tells me the sim is locked, and then I put in the pin but nothing changes .. still cant make a call.
The phone was unlocked with an invalid sim card in it I think.
So anyone have any ideas? As far as I know UK iphones work with Spanish SIMS, ...... I'm beginning to wonder if the unlock has worked, which is a bit annoying because I paid £35 for it as I was in a rush

No, it doesn't give me any satisfaction. I think services like the one you linked to and the "stores" that will 'unlock' iPhones for people should be shut down and their owners jailed for the criminals they are. They can not deliver the service they claim to deliver. It saddens me to see people here on a daily basis who have been robbed.
Every carrier that offers unlocking has slightly different policies for processing an unlock request, so it's not possible to say there is no way you can buy a second hand iPhone and have it unlocked, but it's not a good bargain. Buying a second hand phone that has ALREADY been legitimately unlocked is OK. The problem there is being able to trust the seller that it wa actually legitimately unlocked and not hacked. Hacked phones will revert to their locked state if iOS is restored or updated.

HT4528 IPHONE 5 gets the message "invalid sim" and "sim failure" - how do I fix this?

If that doesn't work, you can just take out the sim and put it back in. To take it out, you put a paperclip into the small hole on the right side of you iphone. Press it in and the sim will eject. Then just press it back in once removed. Hope this helps.

SIM Failure and No Service

Just trying to see if there's a fix for this.
Several months ago I was having this problem, it went away and now it seems to have surfaced again. It started this past Saturday and I'm not sure why or, what to do about fixing it. My phone will sporadically display the message 'SIM Failure' and then where the Verizon logo and signal bars are, 'No Service' is displayed. If I power down and restart the phone, it does 'Searching' a bit before finally showing he bars and VZN logo. Sometimes it will maintain that for an hour or so before another SIM Failure message, sometimes, I immediately get the message and have to restart my phone over again.
I didn't think these VZN iPhones had SIM cards, I thought we were CDMA or something like that. I've had the phone since February so I don't know if this is a device issue or a software issue and I'm trying to figure out if I should try to return it before my 1 year warranty thing is gone.
I'm on 6.0.1 (10A523) version of iOS so I believe I'm current as far as updates to the phone go.
Any help/information/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like both of you have tried some great steps to research what's going on with the SIM errors on your iPhone 4s devices. The Version 6.0.1 (10A523) is the most recent software from Apple. And although you don't use the SIM on the Verizon Wireless CDMA technology here in the United States, the iPhone 4s come with the awesome capability to use a SIM card for global GSM services too. Which is why you're seeing messages about a SIM. hi guys,
i recently bought a new iphone 4s factory unlocked. in order to avoid sim failures and invalid sim errors or No service errors, Each phone has to be unlocked by connecting it to the Itunes.
Kindly follow the below steps to avoid any SIM card conflicts
iPhone FULL Unlock - How it Works:
-Connect your iphone to itunes without any network sim inside and when connected click on the iphones name.
- Click Restore install latest version of iTunes on your Pc or Mac or click check for updates
- Let itunes Backup your phone and then Flash to the Latest Version.
- Now disconnect phone and reconnect after 10 seconds.
- Now Enter another network simcard that's not the same network its locked on to
- Connect phone to iTunes with not accepted (not valid) simcard
- Wait until iTunes detects the phone
- iTunes will display (Congratulations, Your iPhone is now unlocked)
- Phone Unlocked
- just follow the instructions about activating the Iphone.
and iphone is unlocked
NOTE : This is the only FULL LIFE TIME UNLOCK solution for Apple iPhone as the IMEI is registered as UNLOCKED in Apple database.
This solution should be used ONLY THOSE WHO BOUGHT FACTORY UNLOCKED iPHONE 4S.
Your phone will always be unlocked even after each new update of your phone firmware !
All reasons given like bad IMEI series, manufacturing defects etc blah blah are not logical as everything was tested before every sale.

Latest Adobe Update causes IE 9 to stop working

Two days ago I was prompted to update my Flash Player. After installing the update my browser, Internet Explorer 9, will shut stop working and I get the message:
"Internet Explorer has Stopped Working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you is a solution is available."
Then I get taken to the error screen where it says: "When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player, I have reset IE back to default settings. This has not happened before and it was only after I did the last update.
- Windows 7 64-bit
- Internet Explorer 9
- Flash Player 11.8.800.94

Please try resetting the IE browser.

Sim failure iPhone 5

Hi
Everyday I get a SIM Failure message on my iPhone 5, I turn off phone and it is okay again for a few hours but isn't dealing with the root cause, any ideas would be appreciated
