OS 5.1 and Old Apps

I updated the OS on my iPhone 3GS to 5.1 this morning and now all of my old apps (free and pay) are gone. Does anyone know how to retireve them?

Re-download them or sync them back to your phone. You can re-download purchased apps for free. After you updated, you should have synced to restore your iTunes content. Your apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer. If not, get them there.

I am facing same problem with my first iPOD Touch.
I think only that person can come to our rescue who still have old versions applications stored in any of the old backups or computers. He/she can mail us older versions of applications and then we can delete newer versions from our computer and reinstall the older versions.
There should have been a provision in Apple store to get older versions of applications. It is understood that we will not get newer versions of these applications which do not support 4.2.1 but atleast we should be entitled to get older versions of popular applications which used to work perfectly well with 4.2.1. In my case, there were many paid applications also which got updated automatically in my computer system. But, after formatting my old iPOD touch to reset its password, I was not able to install even those paid applications.
Not Happy with this policy of Apple.

Lost Iphone and old apps in itune download to new iphone

I have lost my iphone recently. I have purchase a lot of apps in my itune account for the original iphone. Can I syn all my old data in itune and load my purchase in itune to my new iphone ( not yet buy)

Do you mean that I need to buy the apps for my new iPhone if that apps have been transfered and install in my old lost iPhone?
If you bought apps using iTunes on your computer, or you bought them on the iPhone, then transferred them to the computer, they will have copies on your computer. When you sync your new iPhone, iTunes will copy those apps to the new iPhone.
If you had purchased some apps on the old iPhone and did not transfer them to the computer, you can purchase them again. If you use the same iTunes account as the original purchase, you will not be charged again.

You can log out of the currently logged in account by taping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and you can then log back in.
If you updated your existing account with a new email address then that shoud 'refresh' it on it
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can redownload its content and download updates to its apps. You should be able to update an account's email address via this page : http://appleid.apple.com

I have been having issues with downloading and updating apps on my iPod 4th gen. How do I fix this? It's getting really old really fast.

So yeah, this has been going on the past week. When I tap to upload my apps, some update right away, but others won't. Sometimes they will dowload half way, sometimes they won't at all, what causes them to stop is this little message that pops up saying, "This app cannot be downloaded at this time." and it gives you options 'Done' or 'Retry." Instinctively I hit retry. Through the course of the day I did this, I kept hitting retry, and eventually all the apps that were updating, updated, but not very effieciently. All apps updated, except for one, Facebook. No matter how anytimes I hit retry, it wouldn't update. I got real sick and tired of it, so I deleted it. I decided to go through everything and delete old apps, pictures, music, thinking that I didn't have enough space. I go to download an app I've already had to test this theory out: Still doesn't work. The stupid thing won't even TRY to download. So, is there any way I can fix this without taking a sledgehammer to my iPod? Because, honestly, I am severly ticked off at how stubborn this is. Please help. Before my patience runs out and I break this thing.

It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

Did you try deleting the mail account, then adding it back? I've read a lot of times that is what needs to happen in order for it to work properly.

Seems pretty obvious you need iWork and it is not expensive. However, I am always suspicious of downloading files from the internet. A 'pps' file should open with Microsoft Power Point.

You can loo up your purchases in your purchase history ( in your account in itunes) and unlike music, you can redownload apps.

I'll ask my question differently. I have multiple devices and I sync them to my itunes account. For one of my devices, I gave it to a family member. I changed my itunes password and did not give it to the family member who has one of my devices. Will they be able to update applicable apps not having the new password?
Also, if that family member opens their own itunes account and purchase apps and sync the phone, will they lose all the apps that was purchased from my itunes account?

Apple does not transfer content bought with one Apple ID to another Apple ID. Apple will not merge two Apple IDs.
If most of your content was bought with the Yahoo! Apple ID but you now want the Gmail address for your Apple ID, the trick will be to change the address used for the Yahoo ID with the Gmail address. However, to do that you must first free the Gmail address from that other Apple ID. Use the instructions from Apple to substitute another address that is not used as an Apple ID for your Gmail address in the Apple ID with the Gmail address. Then, when the Gmail address is no longer used in an Apple ID, you can use the same instructions to substitute the Gmail address for the Yahoo address in the Apple ID with the Yahoo address.

It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

Are you saying the old iTunes account was disabled? or is it an email you just no longer use?
Apple IDs, which are used to purchase things from iTunes and the App stores don't go away.
If you no longer use an Apple ID, that doesn't mean it's gone or inactive.
Even if you no longer use the email that Apple ID is based on, the Apple ID is still there.
Have you tried logging into the iTunes Store with that old Apple ID? You may need to logout of the Store from your current Apple ID, then log in again with your old Apple ID.
If it says it is disabled, have you tried resetting the password with https://iforgot.apple.com/ ?
(the AppleConnect password).
I see too many people create a new Apple ID when there old email goes out of date. It is much better to rename the old Apple ID to the new email and avoid having purchases on more than one ID. How to change the name you use for your Apple ID
