OS 9 on 10.4.11?

Greetings, I have a powerbook G4 which is new to me... It came newly formatted an re-loaded with 10.4.2 from the system discs... I then updated to 10.4.11 from the Apple download site.. I now want to install OS 9 so that I can have access to Classic... I have OS 10.4.2 install disc 2 (which contains Classic updates) but it refuses to execute once on the desktop ... I have 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 install discs which refuse to boot after holding down 'C' key on restart or the 'Option' key on restart (doesn't recognize the 9 in the CD drive).. is there something else that I should be doing short of an earlier system 10 on an external Firewire drive? thanks so much for any help.
Bruce

Then use these instructions to restore the Classic environment on your Mac:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61802
Note Classic does not support many Mac OS 9 drivers, which only booting into Mac OS 9 does, which means some printers and scanners which are rated to be Mac OS 9 compatible won't work with your Mac OS 9 applications, and some games that use the graphics chip won't work on your Powerbook. Only Macs older than 2003 will work with Mac OS 9 booting (the one exception, the dual-mirror drive door (MDD) PowerMac G4s that have no Firewire 800). Also note, that once you upgrade to 10.5, your Mac won't be able to use Classic unless it is on a Firewire external hard drive with Mac OS X 10.4.11 or earlier loaded using the install discs 1&2 that came with your Mac, or you keep a 10.4.2 through 10.4.11 partition on your Mac when loading 10.5.
So a big consideration is whether or not the applications you want to use can work in Classic, or whether they require booting into Mac OS 9. If they need the latter, find Mac OS X native equivalent titles that work on your Powerbook. Tell us what you need to run in 9, and we can tell you whether you need Classic or booting into Mac OS 9?
