Have been to Brother web site no listing for OS Lion.

Also run Software Update, you will quickly find out if the printer is supported in Lion or not. The printer manufactureres supply Apple with drivers so if one isn't avaible via Software Update then Brother isn't supporting the device under Lion. Make sure the printer is connected to the computer and turned on when running Software Update.

Make sure your software is up to date. For iOS, verify that your device is using the latest version of iOS available and that the app you're printing from is up to date. For OS X, Use Software Update to update OS X and apps you've purchased from the Mac App Store.
To use your AirPrint printer with Wi-Fi, the printer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device or Mac, either through bridging, or a direct connection to your Wi-Fi network.
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of an Apple AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule are not supported with AirPrint. Connect your AirPrint printer to your network using Wi-Fi, or connect it to a LAN port on your AirPort device using Ethernet.
Make sure that your AirPrint printer is connected to your network before attempting to print. Some AirPrint printers can take several minutes to join a network after being turned on.
If you're unable to print
Check these things if you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found."
Make sure your printer has paper, and enough ink or toner installed.
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
Make sure your printer has power and is turned on. Try turning your printer off and then back on again to see if it resolves your issue.
Check to see if your printer has any error lights or indicators displayed on the printer's control panel. Check the documentation that came with your printer to clear any errors displayed.
Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer. Check your printer's documentation or contact the printer vendor for more information. A firmware update may be available, even if you just bought your printer.
Important: Printers not listed in this article are not supported by AirPrint. To search for an AirPrint printer model, use the Find feature of your web browser (usually Command-F) to search the list below.

Need Driver for Minolta PageWorks 20 Laser Printer, Mac OS 10.4.11, G5

Does anyone have any idea where I can find a driver for the Minolta PageWorks 20 printer? I can't find it on the Minolta site nor in a Google search. Generically it'll work with a LaserWriter driver, but I am unable to utilize the different configurations available on the printer itself (which tray to print from and so forth). Or if it's not available, does anyone know how I can customize the standard LaserWriter driver to run this specific printer? Many thanks!

I recently upgraded to mountain lion and now cannot connect to my Brother QL-570 Label Maker

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and now cannot print out on my Brother QL-570 printer. I get as far as typing in the label name and then the labeller or computer disconnect. I have tried downloading drivers from Brother but they can't do that as only Apple can do that but there is nothing in Apple to do that. I also reloaded the program off the set up disc. . Any ideas?

yeah-find out where you're downloading stuff to, and stick with it. I'm using FireFox and tell it to save the driver and stuff on the desktop, and when I quit FireFox, there it is on the desktop. you'll also need your admin password. It should show up as a .dmg file, then double-click on it to open it. You should see "Brother.pkg" . start up brother.pkg (double click??) and folow the instructions that ought to appear to install the printer driver. If the .dmg file doesn't mount, use Disk Utility** to mount it and get it working. Then you should see the package. and then you can install it.
** you may have to click on the .dmg file and choose "Get Info" then Open with, then choose disk utility, and then open with then change all. then close it. Hopefully that ought to work. If you cannot remember your admin password, I can't help you right now. Looks like you'd need it, to let Brother install that printer driver.

Lion driver for HP Deskjet 920c?

I just found out that my old but reliable HP Deskjet 920c doesn't have a driver for Lion. It works fine with my old Leopard PowerBook. Is the HP Deskjet 920c likely to get a Lion driver any time soon, or am I out of luck? I hate replacing a printer that works fine.

Is there a Mountain Lion driver for HP Deskjet 5740?

I've been to the HP support site; they make it look as if they have a Deskjet 5740 driver for Mountain Lion, but when I get to the page where I'm supposed to be able to choose a download, I'm caught in this loop with "choose your connection" and an FAQ link, but no actual link to an actual driver download. Is HP pulling my leg here? Is there a real, actual HP 5740 driver for Mountain Lion, or is it some kind of mythical thing? Apple supplies all the drivers for printers that are supported in each version of OS X. If Apple doesn't have a drive for it in the Printer Driver Package then there isn't one and that is why HP has you in that loop.
One way to check it to open Print & scan then click the Add Printer, if there are no printers already in that section, or the Plus ( + ) sign at the bottom and then broswe for the printer and OS X will install the proper driver and software.

Contacts and Brother QL-580N Label Printer

Hi,
I'm trying to get Contacts app in Mountain Lion (previously known as Address Book) to print natively to a Brother QL-580N printer. By 'natively' I mean without having to install Brother's GUI application.
At the time that I added the printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan, Mountain Lion reached out and downloaded QL-580n CUPS drivers nicely.
I can select QL-580N as the printer, with CUPS driver, and send it print jobs.
What I can't do is figure out how to format it for 1.1" X 3.5" labels (Brother address labels DK-1201) in Contacts app.
In Print Dialog box > Contacts > Size I can choose 1.1" by 3.5" but it prints portrait instead of landscape, printing only part of the address across the middle of the label.
If there was a landscape option it would be easy... am I missing something?

Ok... I got there, kinda.
I found that the 'envelopes' style has a landscape/portrait option.
With some help from this post: Re: Address Book label printing
I was able to prit a label directly from Contacts.
Be very careful of the Basic > Length setting. It defaults to 11 inches. This will waste a LOT of tape if you don't remember to set it to something appropriate. Unfortunately you need to do this each time; saving as a preset does not save this option

Software Update for Brother printers disabled my printer

This morning I installed a Software Update for Brother printers and now I can't print. Every time I try, I was gettting an error message that says some of my software is missing and it asked if I wanted to install it. A window opened looked like it was looking in Software Update and it didn't find any software. I deleted the printer in Printers and Faxes and downloaded the CUPS driver from Brother that says it's compatible with OS 10.7. Now I can't add the printer. When I go through the steps to add the printer, for Print Using I select HL-2140 series, which is the model of my printer. I click on Add and the Add Printer window starts looking for the printer software, but I think it's looking in Software Update. The message comes up "the software for this printer is currently unavailabe. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software. I did that, but how can I get it to use the driver I downloaded from Brother instead of looking for it in Software Update?

This helped with both my Brother printer and my HP AIO. I was having marginal printer function after installing OS X Lion, then replace the Airport Express with an Airport Extreme. That knocked out everything....After several days of loading and reloading programs in different permutations, this relatively simple step was the charm.

Although a driver for Windows 7 is not avaialble, you may install an Alternative driver by using the Deskjet 5600 model.

Windows Server 2008 driver for LaserJet 4100 with envelope printer

I have a new Windows 2008 Server 32 and a handful of HP printers. I need a driver for the LaserJet 4100 with an envelope feeder. The universal driver doesn't appear to recognize (or give an option to find) the envelope feeder. The old drivers I used on the previous server won't install on the 2008 box.
I can;t be the only person with an envelope feeder on this machine. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

A specific driver for my HP Color LaserJet 2550n is not listed in the Win 7 driver list. I see drivers for 2500 PCL 5, 2500 PS, 2550 PS, and 2600n. ( just updated the Windows driver list.) Do you know if you have the e-All-in-One, or the Premium, or the Plus version?
