Since I downloaded Lion my apple tv doesnt work on netflix

Lion has nothing to do with Apple TV, the latter is running a version os IOS. Also, Netflix runs natively on the device. If you were having problems with Netflix on your computer that would be different.
Maybe some more detail? Have you tried rebooting the ATV?

  • Apple Works 6 doesn't work with Lion...

I just downloaded Lion & now several "PowerPC" applications no longer work on my computer.  I never use Apple Works 6, except for my Christmas Card labels...and now I can't access them.  I have called into Apple Support - and they can't help me either.  They suggested that I find a 3rd party software by googling it to find a file converter...but I have had ZERO luck, everything I find is a download for a PC, not a Mac.
Can anyone help?  I can't open it in Excel (its a bunch of crap on my screen) & Numbers won't open it either...I'm rendered helpless...

When you say that your label data was kept in Appleworks was it kept in a database?
If so there is probably nothing that can open it under Lion.
I know when I did my migration from AW, all of my document I was able to open in Pages and all of my spreadsheet I was able to open in numbers.
The information I had in AW databse I had to export using AW and then I imported it to Bento. I did all of this before migrating to Lion.
If this information is that important to you, it may be necessary for you to run Snow Leopard again at least on a partition to get the data exported.

  • I need to access apple works 6 docs in lion

    Hi there,
I upgraded to lion but backed up my disk using time machine beforehand. Now time machine is not recognised and want to be set up again. I have files in the time machine that I need to see but can not access. I still have the apple works 6 files on my mac but lion will not open them. I really need to see these files so that I can rework them in a format that lion recognises.......HELP
    Thanks
    Bo

Do you still have the grey disks that came with your G5 iMac? If so, the AppleWorks 6 installer is on the second disk. Otherwise you can purchase AppleWorks 6 from Hardcore Mac, Amazon or eBay. If you decide to go with Amazon or eBay, don't be put off by the "old version" labels. Any version of AppleWorks 6 can be updated to v6.2.9.  Note that AppleWorks has individual updaters for 15 different languages & you must use the one for the version of AppleWorks 6 you have installed. The US English updater is available by clicking the blue Download button of the page I linked. The other updaters are listed on the page.
EDIT: If you are still using OS X 10.6.2, I strongly suggest you update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, OS X 10.6.8. You can download the combo update from this page.

MS-Office for Mac versions 2004 and older do not run in Lion since these are PPC-apps for which Apple has dropped support.

  • When I try to download Mavericks from OS X Uilities, it says "this apple ID has not purchased Lion", will it work it I buy Lion code from Apple ?  Thanks

I have erased my drive and when I try to download Mavericks from OS X Uilities, it says "this apple ID has not purchased Lion", will it work it I buy Lion code from Apple ?  Thanks

By OS X Utilities, do you mean Recovery? http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
Can you explain exactly what you did to erase the drive?
And, which Recovery were you in, regular or Internet? (internet recovery starts up showing a spinning globe).

  • I just installed LION....what is the deal with Apple works?

I cannot open Apple works becauce Power PC applications are no longer supported... I use a Mac not a PC...What am I doing wrong?

PowerPC is the processor architecture that was used on Macs until about five years ago. Since then, the Mac platform has been based on Intel processors. Until the release of Lion, there was an emulation layer in the Mac OS called "Rosetta" that enabled legacy applications built for PowerPC to run. Rosetta isn't present in Lion; it can't be put back; and therefore PowerPC applications don't work in Lion.
If your Mac shipped with an older version of the Mac OS, you can use your installation discs to install it on a partition of your internal drive, or on an external drive. Boot that installation when you need to use the PowerPC applications, and meanwhile prepare to migrate your data to newer software.
If your Mac shipped with Lion, you can't run PowerPC applications.

  • Why won't Lion open my apple works documents?

Actually I think I know why-- they want me to buy something wlse. I'm sure many others are coming to the same revelation. I just bought a new Mac Mini (Lion) after 6+ years on Tiger-- upgraded to 10.4.11. After importing all my data I find that I can't access my .cwk files, nor my .ppt files that I was running with MS Word for Mac. I did a lot of poster art work on the Drawing panels of Apple Works as well. They seem to make quite a deal out of the "Font Book App, but just where am I supposed to use it? Don't get me started..........

Lion does not support PPC apps. It is a good idea to check compatibility before any upgrade.

  • When I install LION what happens to Apple Works?

I ghave Lion but have not installed it yet. I know some programs won't work. What happens to Apple Works?
is there a replacement for it like when Claris
    Works left?

Will all the old stuff in Appleworks transfer over?
Yes and no, depending on which types of documents you have.  Word processing and spreadsheets go to Pages and Numbers respectively.  There is no equivalent for draw and database in iWork.  Others have reported varying success with converting those documents to third party apps, however.

  • Since I installed Lion, Apple Works

Since I installed Lion, Apple Works and Neo Office are gone.  I have years of spread sheets on Apple Works that I have to have access to.  And lots of other stuff on Neo Office.  How can I get them back?

I am new to these kind of problems.  Are you saying to use iWork Pages and Numbers and I will be able to open Appleworks?  I don't have iWork, but would gladly buy it if it would open Appleworks.
    Thanks
Pages will open Appleworks wordprocessing files.  Numbers will open Appleworks spreadsheet files.  Other types of files will need some other app to open them.  But some have no appropriate app.  For example, nothing opens an Appleworks drawing file.  (At least, people report that it's not 100% satisfactory.)
So if all your documents are wordprocesing and spreadsheet, then Pages and Numbers will work for you.  You can download a 30 day trial to see for yourself.

  • I have recently installed Mountain Lion. How do I recover all my 'Apple Works 6' files?

I have recently installed Mountain Lion. My computer tells me that it no longer supports Apple Works 6 files.
How do I recover all my files that are in that format?

    Check out the following link.
    AppleWorks 6 users group.
They have some conversion software and support there.

    Hope this helps.

  • Apple Works and Lion

I'm in sales and have couple hundreds proposals writen in Apple Works format. Is it any way to convert files to be visable in any other format iWorks MS Word or even PDF. I know Lion dosn't support power PC software anymore.
    Thanks,
    Dan.

Pages apparently opens them. Whether all formating is retained is another thing. That's left as an exercise.

  • Airport Utility 5.6 fails installation every time on MacBook Pro running Lion. Apple says should work. Any thoughts out there? Thanks, Allen

I am trying to set up an older Airport as a "range extender" with MacBook Pro. Message is I need to use Airport Utility 5.6. I downloaded it, but installation fails every time. I'm on Lion. Any suggestions out there? Thanks, Allen

AirPort Utility 5.6 for Lion will only work for systems running OS X 10.7.2.
To install it on later versions requires the workaround described in this thread: How do I configure an Airport Express when I get this message in Airport Utility? "This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station."
Pay attention to the caveat in the final paragraph, restated here for emphasis:
Keep in mind that Apple's decision to abandon support for your original AirPort Express was for reasons known only to them. Remember that you are using obsolete equipment, should some future OS X feature not work for you.
I am trying to set up an older Airport as a "range extender" with MacBook Pro.
The only way to "wirelessly extend" a wireless network using the original 802.11b/g - only AirPort Express or Extreme is to implement a WDS, a woefully inefficient compromise that's difficult to configure even for experienced users. You can use an original Express or original AEBS as an additional wireless access point for a wired LAN in a "roaming network" though.

Consider running your Adobe and AppleWorks software in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed in Parallels in Lion or Mt. Lion:
