OS patches required  in Solaris 10  for JDK 1.5

I need to know if there is a set of required Solaris patches required to install jdk 1.5 and what are those?
The documentation does not contain this information, thus it says that all required patches need to be installed.
Thanks,
Maria

Patches 118668-14 and 118669-14 were fixes to patches 118668-13 and 118669-13 for change request 6609269 so both sets are for Java 1.5.0_13.
I do not have details on when the 1.5.0_14 patches would be available but would assume soon.
Installing the Java download bundle should not affect Update Connection.

  • Solaris OS patches baseline for JDK 1.4.2

    Hi,
I find that the installation instruction for JDK 1.4.2 only direct me to latest recommended patches web page. Since we cannot install latest patches everytime we install JDK due to company policy, we need to have a baseline to ensure our application can run.
Do anyone know the baseline of OS patches for install and running JDK 1.4.2 and can share with me?Thanks a lot.

Yes, 1.4.2 and 5.0 will also contain this information in a later update release.
    Currently 1.4.2_11 has tzdata2005n
    and 5.0u6 contains tzdata2005m.
Both these updates contain rules for the Australian daylight savings changes(2006)

  • Patches required to install JES4 on solaris 10

    hi,
Could anyone please tell me what are all the kernal patches needed to install JES4 on solaris 10, for both x86 and sparc. Previously there was a bug in solaris 10 that caused the Messaging server dispatcher to hang. What is the latest patch that resolves this bug?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The required patches are listed in the patch README file e.g.
    README.118207-63
A list of required patches are as follows:
    <snip>
    Solaris 10 sparc:
    OS: 119254-02
    NSS/NSPR/JSS: 119213-10
    SASL: 119345-01
    Solaris 10 x86:
    OS: 119255-02
    NSS/NSPR/JSS: 119214-10
    SASL: 119346-01
These are not necessarily the latest patches - but a base minimum.
For the dispatcher hang issue, I assume you are talking about bug #6383490 -> dispatcher hung, cannot handoff connections, which was thought to be due to bug #6408242 -> access to freed tcp_t in tcp_close() which was fixed in 119998-01 and 119999-01.

    Shane.

  • Checking for Patch Requirements for Extended Support of 11.5.10

    Hello
I am trying to check for a client that they are meeting the minimum requirements to remain on Extended Support. They use 11.5.10.2 and run that on a 11.2.0.3 db
The method I am using is:
    1.
Check to see what is Shared and Licensed via OAM.
This will tell me the products that we must licensed and shared and which we must ensure we meet the minimum
    2.
Go to Patch Requirements for Extended Support of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 [ID 883202.1]
and ensure that we are meeting these.
Seems very tedious ... (over 60 products to check) is there another way?

  • JVM patch required for DST on 10.2.0.2 RAC cluster

I have looked all over the internet and Metalink for information regarding the JVM patching on a RAC cluster and haven't found anything useful, so I apologize if this question has already been asked multiple times. Also if there is a forum dedicated to DST issues, please point me in that direction.
I have a 10.2.0.2 RAC cluster so I know I have to do the JVM patching required because of the DST changes. The README for 5075470 says to follow post-implementation steps in the fix5075470README.txt file. Step 3 of those instructions say to bounce the database, and then not allow the use of java until step 4 is complete (which is to run the fix5075470b.sql script).
Here's my question: since this is a RAC database, does that mean I have to shutdown both instances, start them back up, run the script, and then let users log back in? IN OTHER WORDS, AN OUTAGE IS REQUIRED?
Is there a way around having to take an outage? Can I bounce each instance separately (in a rolling fashion) so there's no outage, and then run the script even though users are logged on if I think java isn't being used by the application? Is there a way to confirm whether or not it's being used? If I confirm the application isn't using java, is it ok to run the script while users are logged on?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Susan

According to Note: 414309.1 USA 2007 DST Changes: Frequently Asked Questions an Problem for Oracle JVM Patches, question 4 Does the database need to be down before the OVJM patch is applied, the bounce is necessary. That says nothing about a rolling upgrade in RAC.
You might file an SR asking if a rolling upgrade is possible.

  • Solaris 8 smpatch - no patches required

I've read through most of the discussions and have not been able to find an answer. I am running Solaris 8 and appear to have all of the settings correct, but smpatch analyze always returns - no patches required.
    smpatch get returns:
    patchpro.backout.directory - ""
    patchpro.download.directory /var/spool/pkg/patchpro /var/sadm/spool
    patchpro.install.types interactive:rebootafter:reconfigafter:singleuser:standard rebootafter:reconfigafter:standard
    patchpro.patch.source - https://updateserver.sun.com/solaris/
    patchpro.patchset - patchdb
    patchpro.proxy.host - ""
    patchpro.proxy.passwd **** ****
    patchpro.proxy.port - 8080
    patchpro.proxy.user - ""
    patchpro.sun.passwd **** ****
    patchpro.sun.user hopeb ""

I would assume that you know the host requires some patches (i.e. has not recently been updated using a patch cluster).
Does the system require to connect via a proxy?
    Try the following command
    # smpatch set patchpro.patchset=patchdb1
    Then run smpatch analyze again.

  • Smpatch always reports 'No patches required'

I have a Solaris 9 machine which I've always kept up to date with smpatch. Recently, smpatch stopped providing reliable information about needed patches. Instead it always reports: 'No patches required.'
    bash-2.05# smpatch analyze
    No patches required.
If I ask for a specific patch which I know I need, it says it doesn't exist:
    bash-2.05# smpatch download -i 112960-67
The following patches were not downloaded:
    112960-67 Patch does not exist.
Here are the relevant smpatch properties for this machine:
    bash-2.05# smpatch get
    patchpro.backout.directory - ""
    patchpro.download.directory - /var/sadm/spool
    patchpro.install.types - rebootafter:reconfigafter:standard

    patchpro.proxy.port "" 8080
    patchpro.proxy.user "" ""
    patchpro.sun.passwd **** ****
    patchpro.sun.user - ""
I've read some discussion which suggests Java may be to blame. I've installed a pretty recent JVM:
    bash-2.05# java -version
    java version "1.6.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.3-b02, mixed mode, sharing)

Those settings are no longer correct for solaris 9.
That is symptomatic of the obsolete version of update connection software.
Heres what the currently correct settings are from a solaris 9 machine with working smpatch
    mildura# smpatch get
    patchpro.backout.directory      -               ""
    patchpro.baseline.directory     -               /var/sadm/spool
    patchpro.download.directory     -               /var/sadm/spool
    patchpro.install.types          -               rebootafter:reconfigafter:standard
    patchpro.patch.source        -               https://getupdates1.sun.com/
    patchpro.patchset               -               current2
    patchpro.proxy.host             -               ""
    patchpro.proxy.passwd           ****            ****
    patchpro.proxy.port             -               8080
patchpro.proxy.user             -               ""But those setting won't work without the new version of the software.

  • Solaris 8 (for IA) running very slowly!

I've recently installed Solaris 8 for Intel on a PC with a Pentium 4 processor (at 1.9 Ghz), 256MB RAM, and a 40 GB IDE HD.
The OS is running but I have noticed that it seems to take a while for even the simplest task to complete. For example, after logging in as root, I use the CDE and choose "Desktop Controls" from the option bar at the bottom of the screen. It takes about 18 seconds for the "Application Manager - Desktop_Controls" menu window to appear. I am relatively new to Solaris (Unix) but I expected that even though the system tries to give full resources the task-at-hand, it would be faster than this.
I consulted with Sun when I did the install and was advised to allocate more swap space than was defined in a default installation. I defined a swap space of 850MB. Other than installing the OS, nothing else has been added (patches, etc), yet.
Any suggestions as to what is making things so slow?

Thanks for the help Lee. I'm kind of new to this Unix stuff so bear with me.
I understand (I think) that you are recommending I check the CMOS settings to see if DMA mode is off. I don't recall but if there is an option to enable DMA in CMOS, should I do that? Would that be sufficient? Also, if it is off where do I issue the command "eeprom ata-dma-enabled=1"?
Again, thanks for your help. This is a learning process for me.

  • Netscape Bug on Solaris 8 for x86

Has anyone else had a problem with Netscape on Solaris 8 for Intel? when I resize the Netscape window, shortly afterwards, the display begins to corrupt the CDE desktop with objects that should be displayed within the Netscape window. When I exit Netscape, the entire CDE goes white with black lines across the screen.
I've downloaded the latest version of Netscape Communicator for Intel Platforms. Netscape V4.76.
    I've installed the x86_Recommended patches.
I still have the same problem. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Yes, I'm having the same problem. however when I exit out of netscape and refresh the screen everything is ok. Please let me know if you've solved the problem.

You know that Developer/Designer 6i is not certified for Windows 7, right? Also, your version is not the latest one, so you can try to install the latest patch set first.

Check if there is a PK in the table definition (not in the database, but in Designer).

  • BuildPluginException: No javac found for JDK home path

    Hi,
I created a track in NWDI(the NWDI track creation is successful),imported this track in NWDS, created a helloworld dc, built and deployed on the local server. I checked in the activity and activated successfully. When i try to import the track in another NWDS(different

I have also tried to apply the SAP Note - 1321274 - DC Build: No JDK_HOME_PATH defined, but did not resolve the issue.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Stefan is correct a 32bit 1.4.2_X JDK (and not JRE) is required even if the OS where NWDS runs is 64bit.
The note 1321274 is rather for central build I think. Since you said the activation is succesful and you face only problem for one local build I think this is most likely really due to a non 32bit jdk.
