OS prerequisites for 12c Agent Push

Hello all,
The project is to install 12101 cloud control and then use the push methodology to install various agents. I am preparing the initial preparation for this.
Need your suggestion/tips on: "what are the OS prerequisites for 12c agent push?"
am aware of few:
1. enable 'oracle' user to be able to sudo (or 'su'?) to root in order to run the root.sh script -- this is a preq in the deployment page.
--- what happen if I am not able to manage OS folks that 'oracle' can sudo to root during the time of install? In this scenario, can I ask OS folks to run root.sh?
--- do we really need to run root.sh for agent push? I ran many silent agent install in 11g OEM, but it doesn't ask me to run root.sh..
2. Firewall - ports etc ?
What else?
Regards,lily

Hi Lily,
1. If you do not have privileges, you can ask any OS folks to execute this root.sh.
root.sh will set additional permissions.
2. You can follow the document provided below to check on the complete pre-reqs for agent install.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e22624/install_agent.htm#BABCFEGE

Looks like , J2EE is having a problem connecting to the DB.Pls. chk. the following
-If you have configured the loop-back adapter , if installing on a local system & updated the /etc/host file with your ip address and host name.
or if the system is part of some n/w group and has ip address assigned ?
-Jdk 1.4 version is installed in your system
-Enough free Disk space available in the system
-How much RAM your system has which windows version you are using  ?
-Is the DB is coming up properly ? its error related to this. check the logs.
-If the ports used by sap install / run used by other services running on the system ? & user have admin. privileges on the system .

  • OEM 12c agent -  target name for oracle_home incorrect

We have a question re: the OEM agent.
Why would the target name for oracle_home be different than the hostname that the agent is running on?
In this case, the agent target name is sometimes the same as the hostname, as this:

Please see the following doc for instructions on deinstalling an EM 12c agent. An EM 12c agent has its own Oracle home, so uninstalling it will not affect other Oracle products on the host.

  • "Error [10151] The LCP Port on CCM Admin for Mobile Agent is not Configured or misconfigured"

We are running into a problem which we have noticed on UCCE 8.5 and havent seen on earlier 7.5 release.
If we setup a CTI port as agent device target and if we try to login the agent using Cisco Desktop (Not CAD, just CTI OS Client) then we get following error:
"Error [10151] The LCP Port on CCM Admin for Mobile Agent is not Configured or misconfigured"
But this wasnt the issue with 7.5 and we were able to do agent login with CTI Port as device target. We dont intend to use Mobile Agent feature but just login UCCE agent to CTI port as the device.
Do we know if this is a known issue or if something has changed between 7.x and 8.x release which could be is causing this?

So you can ping and nslookup from your ms to these agents and vice versa right?  I wouldn't do a manual install, I would push the agent from the management server.  You can uninstall the agent manually, or use cleanmom to get rid of them.  Then
do an install from the console.  When you initiate the install from the console (management server), should it run into any issues it will dump out an error which will give you an idea of where the problem may be.

  • 12c Agent causes abrt full crash report on OEL 6.4 (64 bit)

We have a brand new server that we've installed OEL 6.4 x86_64 on with Oracle 11.2.0.3 and the 12c agent. Periodically I'm getting the following ABRT (Automatic Bug Report Tool) whenever the agent tries to run the "chkconfig --list" command. The oracle account does not have permission to execute the chkconfig command (that's the account the agent process is running under), however the agent periodically is trying to execute that for whatever reason.
Is there something I missed when I setup the oracle account?
Here's the top section of the abrt full crash report
    abrt_version: 2.0.8
    cgroup:
    cmdline: /sbin/chkconfig --list
    executable: /sbin/chkconfig
    kernel: 2.6.39-400.17.1.el6uek.x86_64
    pid: 63387
    pwd: /opt/oracle/agent12c/agent_inst/sysman/emd
time: Thu 30 May 2013 04:22:36 PM EDT
    uid: 500
    username: oracle

I opened a SR on Tuesday of last week. My frustration level rose when their suggestion was to change permissions on the directories underneath /etc so the oracle account could do the “chkconfig –list”.
Changing permissions on core Linux directories isn't an acceptable answer for me. I was hoping someone else had run into this same problem and another solution.

  • What is best practice for deploying agent(10204) on RAC 9i

    Hello,
What would be best practice for deploying agent(10204) on RAC 9i? Should the agent be deployed on each node or should the agent be deployed on the cluster file system? What are the advantages/disavantages deploy on individual nodes vs. on cluster file system? Please advice. Thank you in advance.

Please use agent push application to deploy agent on all the nodes at one shot

  • Error while installing Agent using Agent Push Method

    Hi All,
I have installed Oracle EM Grid 10.2.0.1 on Linux 4 (Enterprise). I have moved my repository database to another host. Grid(oms, repo db,agent) is working fine. But i am trying to install one agent in remote host using Agent push method. I am getting the error

This error is coming in Install Stage. I checked the oracle inventory permission and other 2 instance installed directory permission. Inventory owner is oracle. Oracle EBS mount point owner is root. But it is having read, write permission.
Is this a bug? Will this resolve after applying 10.2.0.5 patch.
Please let me know a solution for this.
    Thanks,

    Hi Rob/Nazim,
Thanks for the Replay.... I will try to update to patch 10.2.0.5

  • Completeness of Prerequisites for Recovering Tables for PDBs from RMAN Backups

Could you verify the completeness of following prerequisities on pag. 441 of the "Backup and Recovery User's Guide 12c Release 1 (12.1) E17630-14"
Prerequisites for Recovering Tables and Table Partitions from RMAN Backups
    ■ The target database must be in read-write mode.
    ■ The target database must be in ARCHIVELOG mode.
    ■ You must have RMAN backups of the tables or table partitions as they existed at the point in time to which you want recover these objects.
    ■ To recover single table partitions, the COMPATIBLE initialization parameter for target database must be set to 11.1.0 or higher.
According to my test Database administrator workshop: How to recover a table in a pluggable database from a backup
those prerequisities are valid for CDBs or non-CBDs, but if you want to recover tables or table partitions in PDBs a different prerequisite is needed.
Indeed if you have a backup of only the pluggable database including the missing table (the third prerequisite above), but you don't have any backup of the container database the command...
recover table ... of pluggable database ... until scn ... auxiliary destination ...
will fail with the following errors:
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of recover command at 02/12/2014 12:22:18
RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script
RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 3 found to restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 4 found to restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 1 found to restore
So to recover table in PDBs you must have also the RMAN backups of the CDB or in the opposite way it's not sufficient to have only the backups of the pluggable database, because during the creation of the auxiliary database the SYS, SYSAUX and the UNDO tablespace are required.
    Regards,
    MarcoV

    Hi,
Before dropping a DB we had taken an RMAN backup.I hope you were in mount mode.
Will RMAN automatically recognize the FORMAT of the backup piece and restore ?No it won't.
First you have to restore a controlfile in nomount mode with:
    restore controlfile from '/u04/backup/rmanbkp /02mo9fnc_1_1';
    and do alter database mount.
Than you have to run "catalog start with '/u04/backup/rmanbkp'; " so the instance now knows where to find the pieces.
Now you can run a restore database command.
Than open the database with resetlogs.

    Tycho

  • Agent push issues on Server 2012 targets - any known gotya's

    Hi,
I'm having ongoing issues which I believe are directly firewall related when pushing agent to Windows Server 2012 R2 computers.
I get the usual RPC unavailable errors and the workaround I use is I have to turn of the firewall via control panel (stopping the service isnt sufficient for some reason).  This resolves it.
I have asked our firewall admin to check all the well documented ports are open - he has rules in place to allow them and works fine for all pre 2012 servers, and is addement its not the rules.
So was just checking here for confirmation theres no 'undocumented' gotya's to look for when pushing to 2012R2 machines.  I think the likely cause is RPC relating to DCOM high ports - I'm not sure if the are same rande as in 2008 - none of the documentation
posts I've seen to go as far as 2012 just 2003/2008.  when we tried to troubleshoot this ourselves I think our firewall admin used wireshark and commented that the the DCOM highports seemed randomly assigned.  I'm guessing he maybe didnt want to
open up ALL the DCOM jhighport range as we have very tight firewall security.
    Any advice much appreciated...

  • Cannot unblock Em 12c agent

I have a system where the agent has been blocked by the OMS service. After restarting the agent and running the resynch agent job (Agent -> Resynchronisation) the agent remains blocked with the following errors in the job log: -

Re-deploying Metric Extensions to the targets
Saving target collections to the agent
    Cleaning state on the agent
    Exception in resync: null
    resyncState: resync of agent failed.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try next?
    Regards,
    Steve Dennis

    CAUSE
The message [No route to host] corresponds to a network host name resolution issue from the OMS host to the target agent's host.
    SOLUTION
See the following reference for comprehensive network diagnostics for EM components:
Note 428665.1 Enterprise Manager: Installation Requirements and a Checklist for Configuring and Testing Network Connections between EM Component Hosts
    1. Ensure the OMS is able to successfully resolve the agent's host name.
    $ping <agenthostname.domain>
    $nslookup <agenthostname.domain>
    $nslookup <ipadress_returned_by_previous_command>
    2. Ensure that the data returned by the last command is exactly the same as that returned by the other commands, and as shown in the console.
    3. Once Agent host name resolution is successful, then proceed with agent resync operation from the console.

  • How to add host in OEM for which agent is already deployed

    Hi All,
I had installed OEM 12c Cloud Control previously. From that OEM I had added certain host. While adding those hosts I deployed agents on them. Now I am not using that OEM anymore. I have freshly installed OEM again and now I want to add the same host. Is is possible to use the same agent which was deployed earlier on the host which I want to add as target. If yes, then what steps do I need to follow to add a host as a target in OEM for which an agent is already deployed. That means I want to by-pass the step which deploys an agent to the target host and reuse the already deployed agent.
    Please guide!!

Yes this is possible. To use an installed agent with a new OMS you can follow these steps:
    1. Shut down the running 12c agent with the below command:
    $AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME/bin/emctl stop agent
    2. Remove the agent instance home:
    rm -rf $AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME
    3. Manually remove the targets monitored by the agent in the EM console (sounds like you don't need to do this as the EM installation is no longer present)
    4. Create a new instance home pointing to the new oms:
    $AGENT_BASE_DIR/core/12.1.0.1.0/sysman/install/agentDeploy.sh
    AGENT_BASE_DIR=<location of the agent base dir> OMS_HOST=<oms hostname>
    EM_UPLOAD_PORT=<http/https upload port>
    AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD=<registration password>
AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME=<absolute path where the instance home has to be created>
    -configOnly

  • Blind Conference feature for CAD agents (UCCX)

    Hi,
I am planning to use BLIND CONFERENCE feature in CAD. Basically customer requirement is to play a pre-recorded message to the customer after agent has answered the call. Here is what I am planning to do-
Create an application, script and have recorded prompt there in UCCX (This application has trigger 1111)
Go to CAD administrator, workflow configuration, and assign a TASK 1 button for this agent
Add action to TASK 1, where I select 'Blind Conference' option and add 1111 as a predefined number
    Expected Result-
When agent answeres the call, agents pushes TASK 1 button immediately on his CAD. This action brings 1111 in the conference with agent & customer, where agent & customer both hears the prompt
once prompt is played, 1111 disconnects and agent continues the normal call with the customer
How does this approach sound? Has anyone done like this before?
    Thanks,
    Piyush

Here's how I would solve this:
Create an XML file with the agents that are English-only (or the inverse) and put this in the doc repo.
Change Select Resource to Connect = No; the Connected branch will change to Selected
Use the Get User Info step to figure out which person the User-type veriable is.
Use Get XML Document Data to XPath search the document for a match.
If there is a match, play the prompt advising the contact.
Use a Connect step to get the agent.
    Extra credit:
Use enterprise data to tell CAD that you need a translator
Create a workflow and attach it to the answered event that conferences the translator in
The risk to this approach is that the first agent doesn't actually answer the call (i.e. offer vs. handled). If that happens, there two potential issues that you would need to plan for:
The caller may get told (in German) that the agent they're about to be connected with doesn't speak German and will be adding a translator. The next agent may actually speak German though. There's not a lot you can do about this one.
If you did the extra credit exercise, you would need to be sure that Enterprise Data gets updated to not trigger the workflow action. Obviously, if a German-speaking agent answers the call they don't need to conference a translator in.

  • Any prerequisites for using javascripts (JS) in SAP BPC 7.5NW (SP5)

    Hi,
I keep getting evalution and parsing errors, every time I use a JS in my conversion files. It simple standard JS, like:

    Gersh,
It works now. I have implemented the below code (ENTITY needed to contain the variable as well). The relationship profitcenter and entity is very important as it derives the relevant profitcenters from the profit center hierarchy (e.g. all profitcenters under the legalentity node).
