OS scripting error-HP photosmart 8250 /scanjet 3570c conflict

I have just connected a hp photosmart 8250 with hp image zone to my G5 powermac, which works fine but now the hp scanjet 3570c will not scan - any attempt just locks up.
I get an "quit unexpectedly" error message. Details are-
Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002)
Thread 0 crashed
Thread 0 crashed with PPC thread state 64
I have reinstalled scanner software and repaired disk permissions using the disk utility.
HP tell me it is most likely an OS scripting error.
Anyone got any Ideas how I get my scanner working?
thanks

Hello 28uhe,
Have you been using this model scanner on Windows 7 specifically for a while or is this the first time you have attempted to use that scanner on Win7?
This is just my humble opinion and am offering this as part of general troubleshooting steps.
Officially, there are no drivers for Windows 7 to download and install because it is not supported beyond Vista.
I believe that it has worked for others via a generic driver install from Windows update though.
Its possible that generic driver has become corrupted possibly (again guessing since I cannot see your computer).
The first thing I would do is...
If you can access another computer, connect the scanner to it and see if the problem still exists.
IF the Scanner does the same thing on a different computer, then its toast. IF it works as it should, then you can go back to your Win7 machine and continue troubleshooting.
Let me know if you can try this first. It may save a bunch of unnecessary work.
Toredo tunneling shouldnt have anything to do with your scanner as its for IPv6-capable hosts which are on the IPv4 Internet. So that should be totally unrelated. What troubleshooting program did you use that found this error?

Script errors like this can happen with IE and while uncommon are not unheard of. With the print and scan doctor coming back fine we can move to troubleshooting the browser where the error originates. If you would like try using a different browser as a temporary workaround and use this microsoft guide for troubleshooting the script error you are getting: http://goo.gl/k7aTU
    Best of Luck!

  • HP Photosmart 8250

My HP photosmart 8250 only prints from a memory card.....one day it completely stopped printing when it was connected to my PC. I uninstalled it from my pc, went back in to re-install it but the software install wouldn't take as error msg came up and said that this printer was already installed on this pc. I saw that I uninstalled it, a got a successful msg that it was uninstalled so I tried to install again and same message. Then my other HP deskjet 6122 stopped working as well. I have a cousin whose a pc tech check it out who said that I needed a new OS because pc had a virus. Installed a new OS, installed the HP 6122 but the HP 8250 wouldn't install - he installed new drivers and said he did all he could but to junk it. This 8250 still prints great pics from my memory card, so there's got to be a way it will connect to my pc....I refuse to junk it, not in the position to buy another one yet although the new models are now about the same price as what I paid for this one but since it still prints manually, I'm keeping it. How do I get this to install to my PC? The HP 6122 is the only printer I have right now......infact I have a Microtek scanner which was installed and working fine when the other two printers were before the new OS and I haven't been able to reinstall the scanner as well because I get the same message that its already installed on my pc.....I don't know how because it doesn't show up anywhere and this is a new OS....I'm lost without my scanner and photosmart no longer connected to my PC....any suggestions?

    Hello skye9480,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your Photosmart 8250 is requesting you to change your black ink, but you have already changed this 3 times. I will do my best to assist you! Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not surge protector. I just want to see if this makes a difference.
    1. Remove all ink cartridges from the printer, then close the door
    2. Remove the power cord from the printer (Do not press the power button)
    3. Wait 60 seconds or more, then plug the power cord back in
    4. Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges
    5. Try to print a document
If you're receiving the same error message, then please contact HP technical support for further assistance. Click here to find out: HP Worldwide Contact.
    Good luck.

  • Photosmart 8250 colors are way off

Photosmart 8250 has been a great printer for several years. (out of warranty now of course) I haven't had any paper or photo, 4x6, feeding problems at all, and have only had one paper jam. Lately the color printing has gone bad. I use only HP inks, never have used a "refill" in the printer. Lately I saw an error on the printers screen, it was about the paper sensor being faulty. I only saw this once. There also has been a small red blotch on the bottom edge of some of the prints, this is new, so I am pretty sure I need this printer serviced. It still looks new and has been without all of the other issues I read about I would rather have this one fixed rather than an exchange.
The paper sensor supposedly senses the type of paper and sets the printing parameters accordingly as I understand this so far. I have never taken this printer apart, but I have done so on other printers. Has anyone replaced a paper sensor in a printer such as this? Maybe its not a big deal, but then again, maybe its better that a tech that does it all of the time should do it?
Today is Sunday after Christmas, i will call HP support, this week but any advice in the meantime.

The paper sensor is used when the paper type is set to "Automatic", you can override this by setting the paper type manually in the driver.

  • Script Error on web pages and email

I have looked at your solutions and they don't seem to work for me so I will tell my story. I have a HP Photosmart Premium Model 309A print-scan-copy-fax working with Windows 7 and IE9. My Hp black cartridges stopped working and I replaced all of them with new HP. Still couldn't get the black to print anything but gray so i used the Hp doctor uninstalled and downloaded the  recommended driver and software. When I finished I printed a fax test and all seemed to be well until I tried to print a picture from an email. Got the script error:
Line 2072, Char: 1, Error: unspecified, code: 0, URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.js
Then I tried to print something from the web and got these two:
    URI: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/jspellEvolution/jspellEvolution.js
    URI: http://mail.yimg.com/zz/combo?/kx/ucs/common/js/131/jsonp-super-cached-min.js&kx/ucs/avatar/js/21/av...
I have worked all day trying to figure out what to do to make this thing print right but no luck. The printer is not quite 2 years old but if you can't help it will go on the junk heap.....so hope there is a solution out there!
This is a 32 bit so I can't use that fix and it is debugged so that isn't the fix. What else?
    thanks for your input.

I'm betting that there is an error caught in the browser's cache that's causing it to fail for scripting errors. Click on the image of the gear under the red X in the upper right-hand corner of the window. Select Internet options from the list. On the General tab, under the Browsing History section, click on delete. Make sure that every check box is checked (you can leave passwords unchecked if you use IE to remember your passwords). Click Delete. Click OK to close the Internet Options window. Close the browser. Wait about 15 seconds. Open the browser and it should work better.

  • Scripting error when using 64 bit internet explorer

Could you please give me a solution to the following:
Laptop  HP Pavillion dv7-3112sa  Windows 7
    Printer  HP Photosmart B209
Wireless connection Netgear DGND 3300 v2
When I use internet explorer 64 bit and try to print, I get a message "Scripting Error" and it will not print.
This is OK on 32 bit.
I cannot update my HP software because I lose wireless communications altogether and have to do a restore to get it to work again.

Scripting errors are related to how the website behaves with a browser.
In this case, it is printing script that is having an issue and it appears to be with the 64bit Internet Explorer since it works fine with Internet Explorer 32bit.
Review this article from Microsoft regarding this issue.
You have already found the best resolution to this issue:  Using 32bit Internet Explorer.
64bit web browsing is still a very small portion of web sites and very few fully support the 64bit browsing experience.  I highly recommend using a 32bit web browser for viewing websites as this will give you the best compatibility as every website still supports 32bit browsing, but not all sites are fully compatible with 64bit browsers.

  • Director Player Error - CD Install for Scanjet 3000 S2

Trying to run the Setup.exe from the install CD received with the Scanjet 3000 s2 on a Windows 7 HP laptop, I get the error "Director Player Error", "Property not found", "#restartEXE".  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and continue to have the issue.  Tried the install on 2 other PCs and they do not have the same problem.  Any idea what is causing the issue?

There is a programming flaw in the original Director file. The problem may be that the projector is unable to access a file and is throwing the Script Error message, or there may be some other unkown bug. Do you have the original code?

  • Not enough memory Photosmart 8250

Whenever I try to print a color photograph (5 x 7) at a resolution higher than 600dpi I get a Not Enough Memory error.
Is there a way to add memory as the instructions are not clear if this is possible?

    Hi @WCW2015,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are getting a not enough memory error when printing a photo from Windows 7 to your HP Photosmart 8250. I am happy to look into this for you!
You cannot add more memory, however here are some other options:
Take a look through this guide, 'Not Enough Memory' Message Displays in Microsoft Windows XP When Printing. (Even though it states XP, the steps can work on Windows 7.)
What program are you scanning from?
Have you been able to make copies?
I would also suggest going through this How to Scan guide, How to Scan: Windows 7, select How to scan with non HP software, and try these other alternate methods of scanning.
Hope this information helps, and hope to hear from you soon!

and ""Please Insert Card" also on printer.
Has my printer reacherd the end of its lifespan or can I fix it???
I have tried turning it on and off and checked no paper in it, all to no avail.

  • My photosmart 8250 prints the headings & color blocks on the diagnostic pages, but not the text.

My photosmart 8250 suddenly stopped printing ( I have Windows 7). The cartridges have ink & there are no error mssgs. The self-test disgnostic prints the headings, borders & color blocks, but not the text under each heading. I ran the diagnostic utility & it said there were too many print jobs (?) and I cancelled them as directed.I re-ran the test & It  said there were no problems found. But it still isn't printing. I went to the control panel and ran THAT diagnostic & it said it found some problem with the USB connection, but that it was resolved. But, it STILL won't print.  I tried everything the diagnostic utility suggested - uninstalled and reinstalled the updated  software & driver, restarted the computer, etc. and it still won't print.

Hi - Try following the steps in this document.  It will walk you through cleaning the rollers, which in many cases is the cause of this type of problem.
