OS Updates Never Appear in Mac App Store

I'm running OS X v.10.8.2, and have noticed that OS updates have never appeared in the Mac App Store since installing Mountain Lion in the fall of 2012. No error messages have ever appeared. I'm sure that there have been security updates issued, as well as updates to iTunes and Safari since then. The store does notify me of updates to specific apps that I have downloaded from the store, such as Pages and Numbers. I've tried (1) clearing the Mac App Store cache, and (2) fixing my disc permissions. Neither of these has caused any OS updates to appear. The Settings pane for Software Update (System Preferences) reports that the last update request occured in October of 2012. Numerous requests have been attempted since then.
Any suggestions for fixing this?

Just reporting back to say that installing 10.8.4 did not solve the problem. I've also tried bypassing my wireless LAN, a potential fix for this problem suggested by others. That didn't help either! Maybe I will simply make do with periodic manual updates.

  • HT5525 I can't find the updates tab in the mac app store (just updated iTunes)?

I'm trying to purchase a book of photos through iPhoto - it tells me to update iPhoto before I can order the book. My macbook pro is running OSX Lion so it says I can update iPhoto "in the updates tab of the mac app store"... but when I go to the app store in iTunes, there is no updates tab. I then tried the second update option, via software update under the apple menu, but that just updated a bunch of other firmware, not iPhoto.
Can anyone help point me in the direction of the iPhoto '11 update please?

You don't use iTunes for that.  Launch the App Store application
that's in your Applicaitons folder, login with your Apple ID and you should be able to update iPhoto.

  • How can I update iWork using the Mac app store?

I bought iWork on DVD but would like to get the updates via the Mac app store. How can I do that?

    HI Judy...
You can only update software from the Mac App Store if the that is where it was purchsed and downloaded from.
Since you installed from the DVD, your updates should be available from your Apple menu > Software Update.

  • Can't update daisy disk from Mac App Store

Can't update daisy disk from Mac App Store!! What can i do? AppStore wrote You must login in to @@@@mail, but I login to my account!

You must sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID you used to install the app. If you don't recognize the ID, see below.
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • Cannot connect to; Software Update, iTunes or the Mac App Store.

I updated to Lion on launch day and had problems with  Software Update, iTunes and the Mac App Store connecting to the internet.
I was completely connected to the interent, so people told me to wait it out as the servers were probably struggling.
However, it's been two weeks and I still get this message:
It's the same with iTunes as well as the mac app store.
I'm at a loss as I can't update my computer.
Anyone else have the same problem?

    same problem here
This solution work fine with me :
    1. Systems Preferences -> Network
    2. Under "Wi-Fi", click on the "Advanced" button.
    3. Under the "DNS" tab, add the Google Public DNS - 8.8.8.8
    4. Click OK, then click Apply.
    5. Turn WiFi OFF, then turn it back ON again.

  • Updates don't appear in mac app store

Hi, I have a problem with the mac app store. I enter to it and in updates it says that I haven't updates. But I have a lot of apps to update... I had this problem time before but with the terminal and some codes I could repair. But now I can't find this method. I have a MacBook Air (13 inc, mid 2013) with Yosemite 10.10.1
I have tried this method but don't work:
Logout, close app store, open app store and loggin with my account.
    - Go to the Spotlight system preferences.
             - Go to the Privacy tab.
             - Add your boot drive ("Macintosh HD") to the privacy list and close the preferences.
             - Open the preferences again and remove your hard drive from the list.
             - Reboot the system.
         3. Try resetting the Mac App Store.
         - Enable the debug menu and restart the Mac App Store: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
       - Choose the Reset Application option and restart the Mac App Store.
         4. Purge the Caches:
         rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
         rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent
         rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
         rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
         rm ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
         5. Changing my region to USA and reset.
    So I need a solution...
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • How do I get Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 to stop appearing in Mac App Store after I've installed it?

Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 appeared in my App Store a few weeks back (I'm running an 2011 MBP with 10.10.4 and have been using the betas). I installed it, and it continues to appear as an update every day. No matter how many times I install it, it continually comes back. I even wiped out all of my codecs in /Library/Quicktime, reinstalled the PVF. I downloaded the standalone installer, ran that. No change. I've seen a few mentions of this online, but hoping for a fix!

  • TS3638 Sign in window does not appear in Mac App Store.

I have been trying to work this out for a week or so. I already tried verifying and repairing disk permissions, as well as deleting the com.apple.appstore.plist file. Whenever I click the sign-in button (featured page or purchases page) nothing happens. I don't have FruitMenu or APE installed. There doesn't seem to be any help on Apple Support other than this: Mac App Store: Sign in sheet does not appear, or does not accept typed text. I have also tried downloading an app that I had previously purchased, to see if the log-in would come up, and nothing. Please Help!

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Also nothing when you try to sign into your account with Sign in from the Store dropdown menu?

  • Why isn't safari 6.04 showing up in the update section of the mac app store?

i am running the latest Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3.
I ran Software Update and and update under the Mac App Store but there
is no Safari 6.04 but only an update for iPhoto.  And there is not Java update
    from Apple either.
    What gives?
it showed for some people and for some it didn't.
    I wonder why?
I hope by the end of the week I can be able to download it from
    the Mac App Store.

    devnull66, you are a star!
I switched from a my standard account to an administrative account and checked for updates and then they showed up in the App Store. I didn't update yet though. I switched back to my standard account and checked for updates again to see what would happen and there they were so I was able to complete the updates from my standard account.
In my case I also just upgraded from Lion to Miuntain Lion this past weekend. I just did an upgrade in-place over top of Lion, usually I do clean installs with major upgrades. When I switched to the Administrative account, this was the first time since the upgrade, there was a dialogue box on screen asking me if I wanted to log in to my Apple ID. I just clicked continue in this case to continue to my administrative account with out logging in.

  • Can't update to Lion: Serious Mac App Store problem

I tried twice to update my OS (10.6.8) to Lion via the Mac App Store. Both times I got a failure message shortly before I had downloaded the 3,74 GB, saying the app can't be downloaded and that I have to restart the downloading (original message in German: "Die App kann nicht geladen werden. • Update policy of the Mac App store?

Now I am using many Apple devices. And most of the devices have pages. But at the moment my Mac has the Microsoft Office. After Apple announced Mountian Lion, I think it is a great idea to use Pages on my Mac as well. But I think the current of Pages is quite old (09). I am wondering if I buy the Pages 09 from Mac App store, then the new version is released will I be able to upgrade for free? If not, then I will wait for the new Pages to come out. thanks

    Guy-CP,
This is a test of "how bad do you want it?". It's $20 at risk. People started worrying about wasting their money on a possibly soon to be obsolete upgrade two years ago. Back then it was an $80 risk, before the App Store.
To me, it's a case of need. If you need Pages 09 to make your work easier, it's easy to justify the purchase cost. If it's an entertainment issue, consider what you spend on other luxuries, make a decision and pull the trigger, or not.

  • Why do my reviews never appear in the App Store?

I have submitted several reviews of apps that I have used, each time writing them on my iPad from within the App Store. I finish them, click "submit," and then even weeks later, they have never appeared. I notice other reviewers have actually edited their old reviews; where are they going to find those reviews that will allow them to edit them? Is there a web interface or somewhere within iTunes (on the desktop) that I should be looking? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the same problem, i never see my own reviews on different apps, but we can edit it anytime with the same process as we write new review. For editing click on the app and click on review and if you have already posted a review then it will show the old review and you can edit it anytime, or if you are going to post review for the first time then it will allow you to post new review. For posting reviews you need to own that app first.
