OS upgarde and Social Apps

My social apps in Nokia Asha 303 got corrupted and I cant find a download replacement. Aslo I'm not able to upgrade to a higher OS unlike other Asha models! Please help

Welcome to the Nokia forum.
You will be able to update or reinstall your phone's current software with Nokia Suite, which will reinstall pre installed applications and fix this issue for you.
Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow icon where you can see all updates available for your particular device. Software updates only show up when they are available for your particular phone, so sometimes when you see an article online that an update is available, it won't necessarily be available for your region which is why it won't show up. Another reason can be that your operator needs to approve the update first, which can delay the update a little sometimes. As soon as an update will become available however it will show up under the green arrow icon in Nokia Suite so you will not miss out if an update is available for your device.
If no update is shown, please reinstall the current software. This option is displayed in blue. Updating or reinstalling the software will reinstall applications that come pre installed on the phone, such as the social app and will fix any issues you're having with the application. Before you perform a software update, don't forget to make a back up in Nokia Suite via Tools > Back up.
If you're having issues with paid applications from the Nokia Store, please delete the app off your phone and contact your local Care line who will be able to resend the app to your device so that you don't have to pay for it again. All you need is your Nokia Account name or your phone's IMEI, which you can find by entering *#06# into your phone.
Free apps can be redownloaded from the Nokia Store via the My Stuff section.

I need to provide a correction to an address location(s). When I use the social app on my phone, if I have it add the location, it's off by quite a bit....i.e. several blocks away.
Also, when using the map, it's kind of annoying when it wants me to turn around when I'm not even there.
Where can I submit corrections?

Sharing Content App built Visualization in Excel via email and social media

Hi,
We are looking for office.js tool we can use to share a visualization, created within a Content App in Excel. Currently, the Content App has a function called "Save As Image". We would then want to share that Content App visualization through Email,
and Social Media. Is the a function within Office.js we can use and how can we do it?

Can you please show an example (website/ image link or something else) or explain more detailed what you mean?
Do you just want to send an image via mail?
If yes, you have multiple possibilities:
1. Insert a link as text in the mail (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn574748(v=office.15).aspx)
2. Insert image as HTML content (<img>-Tag) in the mail (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn574748(v=office.15).aspx)

I experience double spaces for every space typed when entering text in Nokia Social and browser text entry windows. It never happens when texting or using e-mail.
Anyone have a solution?

On my N8, I also get the same thing (double spaces using the Ovi Social app, and I think in the Nokia browser too).
It is really annoying. I have not (yet) contacted Nokia regarding this issue.

Nokia 303 social app missing. "apps and games" cra...

I had problems with my nokia 303 s40 phone. Everytime i'll open "apps and games" phone crashed and reboot. Now i can't access my installed games and applications. And also Social app is missing which is a built in on the phone. please help

Connect your phone to a computer & select Nokia Suite mode. If you do not have Nokia Suite on your pc you can download it from here. Now open the Nokia Suite & click on the “green icon of arrow pointing downwards”.
If any updates are available they will be shown in ‘green’. If not you may reinstall the current version. Reinstall option is shown in ‘blue’. If no option to reinstall is shown, please wait for sometime it will become visible. Then the Nokia Suite will download the new software version of the phone. After it you will be prompted to take a complete back up of the device content. Please do not skip this step as reinstallation will erase all the personal data from the phone like contacts, messages, calendar entries etc. But when restoring the backup do not restore settings.
Please note that if you have set a memory card password & you have forgotten its code then take a backup of the card data also as the card will be locked after update and can only be unlocked if you enter the correct code or by ways mentioned in this thread.
Also note that while updating the device ensure the following things-
The device is full charged.
The internet connection Is of good speed & has a backup in case of power loss.
The PC should also be connected to back up power source as if the process is interrupted the phone may go dead. More on update failure & its remedies here.
Please do not run any resource intensive programs in the background while updating as it may freeze the PC which in turn will lead to a dead device.
Ignore all the windows pop-up notifications about device being disconnected.DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE UNTIL UPDATE IS COMPLETED.
It will be better if you disable security keyguard & PIN code request before proceeding with Update/Reinstallation.
Sometimes the device may show Test Mode. Do not panic & DO NOT remove the cable. Let the process complete.

If problem persists, please visit the nearest authorised Nokia Care Centre. This is because at nokia care software updating is done by different means as mentioned by armagon in this thread

I would like to express my disappointment concerning the access of the Social, Mail and Chat applications on the latest s40-based Nokia mobile phones on AIS One-2-Call network (Thailand):
I purchased a Nokia Asha 303 for my wife 2 weeks ago and tried to connect her new telephone to her Facebook account via the embed Social application provided by Nokia (not the browser). It always failed to work even though everything is fine on her mobile (3g/gprs connection works, balance is positive).
Our local Nokia Care Center could not find anything wrong concerning the functioning of my wife's mobile phone and advised us to contact our mobile phone carrier: AIS
After talking to an AIS customer service officer, we learned that Facebook access through Nokia's Social application is provided as a extra option which is charged 29 THB/week !

Well, unless I decide to subscribe to the above paid service, which is unlikey to happen, I won't be using this nice feature. This is very disappointing.
Besides, Nokia's Social app is the only application available for Facebook on this mobile phone. My only alternative is the web browser ! This is definitely not good news.
Now I'd like to know:
Nokia, do you have an agreement with mobile phone carriers in Thailand ?
If so, how do you justify the existence of paid offers to access social network websites through your application while many of your competitors, if not all of them, offer free applications instead ?
If there is no agreement, then I recommend you to clear things up here in Thailand because operators are making money behind your back exploiting your own technology...

N8 Ovi Store and Social Application not working

Hi Everyone,
I am having issues with my Ovi store app and my Ovi Social app on my N8.
I have finally managed to get into twitter through Ovi social, but when I try to access facebook i get the following message "Unknown problem. Please try again later"
When I try to get into the Ovi store I get the following message "Ovi store currently unavailable. Try again later"
Is anyone else facing the same issues or is it just my phone? I'm trying to narrow down the issue and see if it is a specific issue with my phone or something more general that others are experiencing.

I am able to login to facebook and twitter using the Socially app on my E71 phone, but the Linked in login button gives me an error message and does not prompt the login page for Linkedin as it is suppost to(incorrect web login address obviously), with no workaround to login and then save that for use via the socially site.
Additionally, I set up an account with foursquare, but if I login via the socially site, the sofware closes down, and will not open back up when prompted to do so.
Are there any fixes for the socially site to remedy the issues with using linked in at least for access via the socially software?

Social App not working even after update from noki...

nokia n8 social loading feeds.
My wife and i have the same problem now, only last week she said my phone will not work on facebook the widget on main home screen will not load feeds at all, and the widget is now blank saying refresh all the time, so i linked the phone up to the computer and did a scan for new updates with nokia updater which you can download from nokia site.
Its now the 4th jan and the phones still will not work even after and update from a socail app,
nothing , facebook will load after a few pushes, and looks like its loading till it says loading feeds then it says the (wording unable to load news feeds)

Uninstall the social app and reboot your phone. Then go to software updates and reinstall from the offering given in the updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled social twice and it has worked both times.

Hello, I read that the social app update has been updated to versione 1.2 including linking contacts to facebook.
It's a US phone
I'm stuck on 1.1.264
I have 011.012 software version 2010-09-18.
Custom Version 011.012.269.03 2010-09-23.
Language set 011.012.31.01
Product code 059D0V2.
Any advice on how to upgrade to 1.2? I tried through ovi suite or through the phone and it says everything is up to date!

After reading your post I launched the social app and it said it was automatically updated to version 1.2.157.
If yours doesn't auto update then you could try manually updating by launching social, goto options and press Update service.
By the way I'm in England so maybe the update hasn't reached the states yet.

Nokia N86 Photos corrupt and Photo App not working

My photo's seem to be getting corrupted after I have taken them and I don't know why. I can copy them on to my computer but when I go into the photo's app they were broken images but I can't find them via file manager. Then I was unable to get into the photo app at all. It just wouldn't open.

Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
You can in fact reinstall an update that you have installed on your device. Just connect your phone to Nokia Suite on your PC and go to software updates and "reinstall".
If the issue persists, please reset your device. First of all back up all contents: Options > Back up on Nokia Suite. Then type *#7370# on your phone's keypad. When prompted, enter lock code 12345 which is by default, or the code you have changed it to. You will then be able to access social apps and Nokia Store again.

BUG REPORT: Social App v1.3.237 poling data connec...

Social (version: 1.3.237) on Symbian Anna (Software Version: 22.014) on Nokia N8 (Product Code: 0599001)
Prior to opening the Social app data connection usage is normal, but when the app is closed again the data keeps being poled. Every few seconds the data connection (either 3G, GPRS or WiFi) will disconnect and then connect again. I have been able to repeat this bug 10 out of 10 times including after reboots of the phone. The only thing I have not done is hard reset the phone or re-install the firmware.
This version of the software was installed using Software Update on device. This install was straight after the Software Update install of two part Symbian Anna update which appeared after updating the device FW from PR1.2 to Symbian Anna. The two part update included the install of Internet Radio.
I hope this information is of use as the version I am having issues with is a public release and the only way to stop the data connection poling is to reboot the device. As soon as you open and close the Social app again the data connection poling starts again. Whilst the app is on the data connection is constant on as expected.

No more waiting. When there's gonna be a facebook and twitter app for this phone? WHEN?!
