Please help me on my below questions:
1)Kindly suggest after TL level upgradation my production database will be on TL5 and my DR database in on TL12,is it ok?
2)Whether it is neccsaary to have production and DR database on SAME TL i.e. either TL5 or TL12.

Hi,
According to oracle support ,they told me to refer to

The operating system running on the primary and standby locations must be the same, but the operating system release does not need to be the same.
i think it is ok to have different tl on data guard configuration

Now i want to do the same upgrade in PRD which is in HACMP.
Please let me know what are the areas should i concentrate specially for cluster environment servers.
    Thanks,

  • Netweaver 7.0 EHP 1 upgrade on AIX platform runtime error

    Dear all,
I am currently running on Netweaver 7.0 on IBM AIX / Oracle 10.2 platform.
I am trying to upgrade Kernel from 700 to 701 release patch level 39.
Unfortunately after extracting few of the exe files Example disp+work are
    giving error as
    could not load disp+work progarm
rtld : 0712-001 Symbol XTCgetprefixForURI was referenced
from module disp+work(), but a runtime definition of the symbol was not found
    rtld : 0712-002 fatal error : exiting
I have faced this error in Windows platform where we need to run some microsoft DLL
as per SAP Note 684106 which clears these fatal runtime errors,
but this note applies to only windows platform .
Is there any note specific to AIX platform.
    Please let me know ASAP.
    Best Regards,

    Hello!
We get this problem on an HP-UX server as well....
After replacing the SAP Kernel (from NW700) to NW701 patch level 69,
during a EHP1 upgrade of this system, the dispatcher and dw-processes is not starting (using startsap/stopsap-scripts)!
In the dev_ms we get following error message:
"/usr/lib/hpux64/dld.so: Unsatisfied code symbol 'XTCGetPrefixForURI' inload module 'dw.sapSID_DVEBMGS20'."
We started the processes manuellay instaed, using "dw.sapSID_DVEBMGS20
    pf=/sapmnt/SID/profile/SID_DVEBMGS20_sapsid", and succesfully upgraded
    the ABAP-part to EHP1.
Do we have to patch HP-UX?

  • 10g upgrade on AIX platform

I am just wondering whether someone else has already done a similar task (from 8.1.7.4 to 10.1.0.4 on AIX 5.2)...Which are the main risks or issues in doing this job?
I have already done a research within this forum, Metalink and Web but nothing / none seems to do the same job.
Otherwise could you please point me to useful articles on this subject?
    Thanks in advance

  • AIX upgrade 5.3 to 6.1 EHP5

    Hello All,
In our environment we are planning to upgrade AIX 5.3 to 6.1.
    Currently we have
    Oracle 10.2
    SAP ECC 6.0 EHP5.
Would like to know can we do inplace OS upgrade. I mean on same hardware where current sap is running. OR do i need to do system copy and install current system to new hardware. Would be good if we migrate to 7.1.
Kindly post your suggestions. Would appreciate if some one can guide me detailed activities/procedures need to be carried out.

    Hi Kranthi,
As per SAP note 1458918 - Support for AIX 7.1
Oracle 11.2.0.1 or higher is supported on AIX 7.1
Your current DB version is 10.2 so you can upgrade to AIX 6.1
Refer to SAP note 1137862 - Using SAP systems with AIX 6.1
This note will help you to decide upto which TL level on AIX 6.1 you can upgrade with Oracle 10g.
    Hope this helps.

  • Things to be aware while doing SAP Upgrade on IBM AIX

    Hi,
We are migrating from HP Unix platform to IBM AIX through our new project.
Could you please let me know the risks of doing SAP Upgrade on IBM AIX Platform and  things to be aware while doing SAP   Upgrade on IBM AIX.
    Regards,
    Farhana

    Hi,
You need to refer to respective system copy guide and upgrade guide to know about pre-requisites before doing migration and upgrade on AIX platform.
Practically there are no major issues seen on AIX platform during migration as well as during upgrade.
    Hope this helps.

    Hej,
I am a completely new in this:
We have a server running AIX 4.3-11 (32bit) with Oracle 8.1.7.
The plan is to upgrade the AIX to 5.3-3 (64bit).
The question: Is the old oracle going to run under the new AIX?
Variation: If I have to upgrade the Oracle to 10g are there any predictable problems with the old databases?
Thanks for the help in advance and sorry if I ask something stupid - I am far away from the terminology :/

    Check metalink note 291024.1
It should be possible to skip point 3 and install on AIX 11.1.0.7 skipping 10.2.0.4 and then use transport_tablespace exp/imp

  • 11.2.0.3 upgrade, then downgrade to 10.2.0.4 (ORA-31134 XDB.XDB_RV_TRIG)

In preparation for an actual DB upgrade (on AIX 6.1, DB size= 2TB) from 10.2.0.4.3 to 11.2.0.3, we did an 'upgrade dry-run' on a cloned DB & tried to confirm that we can 'Downgrade' back to 10.2.0.4.3 (if required during real upgrade). The 'compatible' param was left at 10.2.0.4 (never changed).
While running the Oracle script "catdwgrd.sql" (in the 11.2.0.3 OH), the following 'XDB' related error occurred within the first 10 minutes and we cannot find Metalink or general internet references about it (the script continued running).
Please see the excerpt of the downgrade script log file as follows:

  • Upgrading Oracle 8.0.6 and Forms 5.0.6.8.0, Reports 3.0.5.8.0, Pro*C/COBOL

    Hi,
We are researching upgrading to 10g(10.1) for database and Developer tools. The database is currently 8.0.6 and we use Oracle Forms 5.0.6.8.0; Oracle Reports 3.0.5.8.0; and precompile Pro*C/COBOL programs with the 8.0.4.4 environment. There appears to be quite a bit of information on the database upgrade. I am looking for Forms and Reports data as well as Pro*C and Pro*COBOL. The platform is currently AIX 4.3.3 ML11 and we will be upgrading to AIX 5.2.5 prior to the database upgrade. Would someone be able to point me to some reference materials? Are there any land mines I should be concerned with? Is this possible? Would going to 6i or 9i for Developer be an option if 10g is not?
    Thanks!

  • AIX Heartbeat Failure

    Hi all,
I updated our SCOM 2012 SP1 servers to Update Roolup 4 (UR4). After the upgraded our AIX servers are shown in gray critical state with an alert Heartbeat failure in Active Alerts.
I tried the following to sort the issue, but none worked:
Successfully upgraded the agent through the console, it is shown as health for ~ 5 minutes and then back to Critical state with heartbeat failure.
Successfully uninstalled the agent and installed it again.
Reset the health for the server through the console.
The server can successfully telnet to port 1270, and I can execute winrm queries.
    Any thoughts / suggestions?

At this point I would suggest you open a support case with Microsoft and someone can work directly with you to troubleshoot the issue. As why Solaris works and AIX does not is beyond the basic support we can provide on the forums.
    Regards,
    -Steve

    Hi,

Please read below metalink note for bugs fixed in 10.2.0.5:
