i need help on how i can successfully download the new version 7.1 for torch 9860. its always showing "an error occured while downloading software for your device". it's really **bleep** me off. please help me.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given your short description, I cannot tell exactly the method you are attempting to use...there are several. OTA on the device? Direct with Desktop Software? USB connected using the RIM update website? Loader.exe? BBSAK? Some other method?
Nevertheless, I recommend this method. At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for each model. Please use those as reference as you proceed.
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

See the steps below for error codes 3000-3999.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network. -

I suggest you try the very clean and very forceful AutoLoader method:

Beware that it is completely destructive...the device will be "like new"...no data, no apps, no accounts, etc. Be sure you take a full backup first, as well as make full manual documentation of all apps, accounts, configurations, etc. Sometimes a restore reintroduces the very corruption one is trying to eliminate, and manual reconfiguration is necessary.
You can also use this to fall back to a prior OS if you desire...you can install any OS level for which you can find an AutoLoader. (Hint...search over on the CB site!)

I tried to update my ipad air from IOS 7.0.4 to 7.1 on iTunes. I clicked download and update, it started to download normally but when download finished iTunes shows error that "The software for the iphone was corrupted during download".
How can I fix this error ?I had the same problem. In the end I downloaded it manually. Here's the steps assuming you are on a Mac and have an iPad Air (Wifi). If not you can find other restore links here.
In the terminal (it kept failing to download in Safari):
curl http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7.1/031-4521.20140310.D2Ydl/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Rest ore.ipsw >>~/Desktop/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Restore.ipsw
Once the file has downloaded, move it to ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates/
Quit and relaunch iTunes.

Need to download software for HP Photosmart 7600 because my computer crashed and the company who fixed my computer said to reinstall the software however I can't seem to find the cdrom. So I went to this site to download it to Windows XP to this file name below. I followed all the instructions and even checked to see that my printer was NOT hooked up to the computer. I am trying to download software for the clear internet network. It is telling me that I am running in a 64 bit mode and
need to be in a 32 bit mode to run their software....can I and how do I change it to a 32 bit mode?Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

Try going to System Preferences>Security & Privacy and under the General tab...
...select "Anywhere". Note that you'll need to use an admin account to access these settings.

I think I solved the problem by initiating the update in a different way, from the itunes panel where I can click to start the update, instead of saying yes when asked if I want to update when itunes launches in response to the iphone being plugged into the computer.
