OS X 10.10.2 Secondary mouse click problem

Hi I just updated to OS X 10.10.2 and I've been noticing that I cannot right click with 2 fingers. At first when I had 10.10.1 I could right click by clicking the bottom right of the trackpad AND by tapping with 2 fingers, but after updating to 10.10.2 I can only either right click by clicking the bottom right, or tap by 2 fingers; I can't do both at the same time. Your help is appreciated.

Hi Paul,
What kind of response do you get when using telnet in the terminal:
telnet 127.0.0.1 25 or telnet 127.0.0.1 587
That should give you access to your mailserver and the mailserver should respond. Does it?
If it doesn't, what does sudo serveradmin fullstatus mail say?
SMTP incoming and outgoing should say running in this overview.
Port 465 is optional and is not open by default but 587 should be open when you configure mail.
So externally use yougetsignal.com and mxtoolbox.com to verify external access.
Goodluck and let me know what the server locally responds to.

  • Find option to get secondary mouse click back from Spaces

I have OX 10.6.8 and a Mac Book Pro. Recently I had a bluetooth apple trackpad connected to my Mac and I was experiementing with Spaces. Right now, I do not have the bluetooth apple trackpad. Anyway, when I use the two-finger tap to do a secondary mouse click, Spaces activates.
I read that there should be an option in the Spaces control panel to activate Spaces with a secondary mouse click. However, in the Spaces control panel there aren't any options at all for activating it with a secondary mouse-click. It is currently set to activate with F8. Do I need to have the external bluetooth trackpad connected in order to find the option in Spaces for dis-associating Spaces with the secondary mouse click?

Take a look at my trackpad settings in the picture "MBP Trackpad Settings.jpg" at <http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/FileSharing.woa/wa/default?user=wbdeville&t emplatefn=FileSharing5.html&xmlfn=TKDocument.5.xml&sitefn=TKSite.2.xml&aff=consu mer&cty=US&lang=en>.
I actually prefer the trackpad to a mouse. Works great!
The default setting for Dashboard is F12. Look in System Preferences at the Dashboard & Expose prefs and see how you've got that set. It's easy to go back to F12 as the trigger to see Widgets.
I've got a rather low opinion of Widgets. Some of them are poorly written and can cause heat problems (excessive CPU use) or WiFi slowdowns (constant polling of the Net).

  • Right mouse click problem on T60p with WIN-XP SP3

I have T60p model. After upgrading my WIN-XP to SP3 i am facing problem with Right mouse click. Right mouse click starts working as left click. Initially when I reboot my machine it works fine but after sometime I start getting above mentioned problem. I even installed the latest mouse drivers(ultranav) from Lenovo site. Has anyone got this same problem? Looks like Lenovo should fix this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

This isn't necessarily a driver problem, and it's not necessarily Lenovo's problem.
The primary and secondary mouse buttons can be switched by a program you are running, although it wouldn't seem that this is very likely.
Windows Start Menu | Settings | Control Panel | Mouse. This will take you to the Mouse PropertiesTabbed Dialog. Click on the Buttons tab. There you can see if the primary and secondary buttons are truly switched. If so, you can switch them back, without rebooting the machine.

    Hi,
i just upgraded my system to win 8.1 and suddenly my secondary right click (with two fingers) isnt working. And so some other gestures on clickpad. I downloaded latest drivers from official source (i tried both Lenovo and Synaptics), but nothing changed. In device settings seems everything fine too.
    Any advice? Thanks a lot!

  • W510 mouse click problem

I have a Lenovo W510 with Win 7 Pro 64bit freshly installed. When I click on the left mouse button it acts like right clicking (secondary click) and right mouse button does nothing. Tapping on the trackpad does the same. Even when I plug in a USB mouse it acts the same way so this seems to me like a driver issue of some sort. I have checked the Mouse Properties and Left click is set to Primary click and Right click is set to Secondary click as this is the default in a new installation.
I have upgraded the BIOS and have installed XP, Win 7 and Server 08 R2 and still have this problem. I actually see the problem during the installation as well before the OS is even installed.
Any help as to what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible that one of the sets of keys is erroneously sending a click signal all the time. Try disabling the touchpad in BIOS and/or swapping the keyboard.

  • Magic mouse click problem.

    Hi all,
Couldnt find any solution yet for my problem.
It is always either not click or in click(can see the dragging box).
No problem with connecting & tracking.
    I'm using iMac

    Hi decavalera,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you are having an issue with the clicking on your Magic Mouse, please follow the troubleshooting steps in the attached article.
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
Mouse buttons do not work as expected.
The Mouse preference pane allows users to customize the mouse features to meet their needs.
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Trackpad and Mouse click problem!! PLEASE HELP!

I have been having this weird problem which is having to click several times on something of it to work. Mostly I have the problem with Safari and sibelius 6.0 which I work with.It doesn't click and its frustrating.I bet its not the trackpad as I happen to have a magic mouse and it's the same with that too.I have to click several times on for example "Close" the tab button for it to work.
    PLEASE HELP!

Kirstiee, login to another User account and test it in there.
sahba99, you would need to drag the whole preference folder to the Desktop and reboot. If it works, you know it's a preference file in that folder. Keep dragging a bunch back at a time and reboot (or log out and back in) until you narrow it down to the corrupt file. It's kind of like troubleshooting an extension conflict back in the pre-OS X days.

  • Magic Mouse Clicking Problems

Hello, I've just noticed that the far right side of my Magic Mouse stopped to trigger a proper click, thus I cant really make right clicks any more, only if I press it down quite strongly. My Magic Mouse is now a few months old and I've actually never experienced any problems before.
I could imagine that dust and dirt accumulated in this small slit that goes around the mouse prevents the click. Is there any way to open the Magic Mouse in order to clean it?

I got exactly the same problem, but the folded paper solution did not work.
    ¿Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your time

  • Magic Mouse Left Click Problem

I got a Magic Mouse for Christmas this morning and set up with my Macbook Pro. The setup went quickly and well. I was able to move the cursor around my screen with the Magic Mouse.
However, the click buttons don't work. I have tried left and right clicking and nothing happens.
Is there a problem with my mouse or did I miss something in the setup?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem this evening. Is it possible that you had your USB or trackpad mouse buttons reversed when you switched to the Bluetooth mouse?
I normally reverse my mouse buttons (like for left handed people). My index finger naturally rests on the upper right corner of the mouse. When I try to use the normal button config, my hand and forearm fatigue in no time. Reversing the buttons allows me keep my index finger relaxed for all the normal mouse clicking, then I reach left for the "right" button.
It also discourages others from using my computer!
Anyhow... When I connected to the Magic Mouse, the buttons didn't work. I turned it off and connected the USB mouse, returned it to "right-handed" mode and switched back to the Magic Mouse, and the buttons work correctly now. I then use the Magic Mouse control panel to set Secondary click to left.
    Hope that helps!

  • Is there a way to simulate a mouse click anywhere on a screen in Dictate ?

I'm using Dictate because of hand problems. Unfortunately, it does not seem to have the ability as supplied to simulate mouse clicks anywhere on the screen as Dragon Naturally Speaking does on the Windows side.( I do not mean by this the ability to select an item in the menu, which It does have the built in ability to do.) It can, however, so I read, be scripted to do a lot of things. Is there an Applescript out there that would allow for the simulation of mouse clicks anywhere on the screen (as opposed to just on a UI item)?

Platform: 2.2 gHz iMac using Mac OS X 10.5.5; Dictate v. 1.2.1 Build
Okay, so, here, after a great deal of research, is a procedure for implementing a single mouse click anywhere on the screen. Since it’s a procedure, I’m detailing each step.
!. Download the scripting addition (sometimes known as an OSAX) xTool.sax from: http://lestang.org/osax/XTool/XTool-2.0.dmg.tgz. You will have to decompress the file (StuffIt) and double-click it to get it to unfold into a .dmg (disk image) file. In this file you will find the file Xtool.osax. Drag it into your MacHD (or whatever the name of your topmost volume is)/library/ScriptingAdditions (no spaces in the name) folder. The purpose of this is to place it into a folder where Applescript is expecting to find scripting additions. In other words, it’s hard-coded and you can’t just drop it anywhere because Applescript may not find it. Also, there may be more than one Library folder in other directories. Under 10.5.5. which I’m running, I can tell you it works where I placed it.
The effect all of this has is that when you create your script in Dictate’s New Commands window (Script Editor), Dictate will know what the commands “click mouse’ and “position of the mouse” mean. These are not standard Applsecript commands but are additions, hence the name Scripting Additions.
    2. Start Dictate and in the File drop-down select New Command. This will take you to a window with a pane on the left with names such as Applications, Global, and several others. Click on Global (so that the command will be recognized no matter what application your are in). To the right of the pane you will see a number of commands listed by name and, underneath, a (very small) “+” (and a minus sign and a small icon). Ignore everything but the “+”. Click on the “+”.
Below several boxes will appear: Command, Description, Context, Type.
In Command Name type in the name you want Dictate to recognize to do the click. (I call mine Mouse click.) In Description you can type something like Single-clciks the mouse. In the Context drop-down make sure to select Global. In the Type drop-down, select Applescript.
Paste the following into Text Edit (orTexEdit Plus,if you have that):
    click mouse {(position of the mouse), [1]}
For reasons unknown to me, you can’t just select that text, copy, and paste it into Dictate’s Script Editor winodw. You will have to select it in Text Edit and drag it into the Source text box.
Click on the Compile button at the left bottom. After it finishes compiling (a matter of seconds if everything is normal), click on the Run button with your mouse. If all has gone well, you will very likely see the Run button get pressed repeatedly. Take your mouse off the button so it stops blinking like mad. (The Mouse click Appplescript is repeatedly looking at the position it find itself and clicking again, and again.)
While your mileage may vary, I have been able to simulate single mouse-click using this workaround.
So far, I have not been able to simulate a double-click reliably. There is, I believe, an issue with the amount of time between the two clicks (a parameter of the click mouse command above which I did not go into here). For anyone out there who wants to work on that, I would be glad to hear your results. I’ve tried values up to 2000 in the DELAY parameter after the TIMES parm. Here is what the dictionary shows for this command.
    click mouse?v
click mouse [point] : where to do the mouse click
[times integer] : how many times you want to clik the mouse
[delay integer] : delay between two mouse clicks
[using primary button/secondary button/middle button] : which mouse button
If I get this to work I will let my fellow sufferers know.
Thanks to Hiroto and Andrew99 in particular for their help.

  • Secondary mouse button automatically releases after 3 sec

*Secondary mouse button automatically releases after 3 sec even if still pressed* since upgrade to snow leopard. I have to use extra switches attached via USB being unable to move my arms.
Apart from that Airport works after adding Location, I am still not able to access internet or mail, skype and time machine backups work. Switching to my neighbours unsecured WLAN I have no problems accessing mail and internet.
A guest with a PC was also unable to use my WLAN, he was able to connect (gave him password) but could not use internet.
Any ideas? The "secondary mouse button automatically releases after 3 sec" issue seems not to be posted yet.

I understand that when you power off your notebook it automatically restarts in 4 seconds.
You have tried several steps to try and resolve this but there is no change.
As it repeated the behavior with the hard drive removed, you know it is not an issue with Windows.
You have tried updating the bios and returning it to bios defaults but no change.
Here is a link from answers.microsoft.com that helped other people with this issue.
Windows 7 computer restarts automatically after shutdown
This does suggest you edit your registry which does have the potential to cause issues, so be very careful.  I would also suggest backing up your registry before you attempt it, just in case.
Back up the registry  from Windows.microsoft.com
If that has not helped, I would try removing the Cmos or RTC battery for 30 seconds and then replacing it.
Please let me know if this helped.

  • Magic Mouse continually shows context menu on all mouse clicks

Periodically the magic mouse gets into a mode where all mouse clicks result in the context menu appearing.
I can't even double click on a application to open.
I can sometimes get the behavior to stop by rebooting the machine (but not always).  And there are times if I keep banging on the keyboard in a text entry area the all context menu all teh time behavior will stop.
Originally I thought it was just a magic mouse problem, but I see the same behavior if I swap it out with an old tethered mouse.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

It sounds like the Control/alt key may be stuck down.  The CNTL click is another way to perform secondary click.
You can check for that by starting the Keyboard viewer.  System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab > check "Show Keyboard and character viewer in the menubar".  Then click the icon in the menubar and start the Keyboard viewer. Any pressed keys will be reflected.

  • UNIX Script to enable secondary mouse Button by Workgroup Manager OSX Server 10.6

    Dear Apple Pro's
I've got a question. Iam Working in an Educatinial sector (schools) more than 300 mac's. We got 2 Xservers where one is a management server. I'm looking for a longtime for a Unix Script, that can able our secondary mouse button. In the preferences from the workgroupmanger, there is no option for this.
I've have to add an application preference manually but i dont really know how to!. Apple script is not the way were usring ARD 3.3.
    Regards,
    Roderik

Perhaps it is the Mouse settings in the System Preferences. I don't have a Magic Mouse, and I know it has different preferences, so maybe you can enable or disable the secondary mouse button in that prefpane.
You would have to figure out what the preference is by looking into the com.apple.mouse.plist for a user that has enabled it in the system preferences.
When I'm hunting down plists, I open the user/Library/Preferences folder and put it in List view. Then sort by Date Modified descending so that all changed files pop to the top. Then I open System Prefs and go to the prefpane that makes the changes. When you change the setting in the prefpane, you should see the file pop to the top of the Finder list. However, if it is in the global prefs, you won't see anything changes. There is a hidden global preferences file which you can read in the Terminal with:
    defaults read -g
You'd have to just read through the list and see if you can find a setting for mouse secondary click or something like that.
If you do see one change, open it and look for the setting.
The standard way to set preferences is with the defaults write command. Use man defaults in the Terminal to see it's syntax, but basically it is:
    defaults write com.apple.mouse keyItem keyValue
Note that you don't need the .plist on the end. You'll have to figure out if the magic mouse has a different plist and what the dictionary keys are.
As an example, if the dictionary key is enableSecondaryClick and the plist is com.apple.mouse.plist, then the defaults command would be:
    defaults write com.apple.mouse enableSecondaryClick 1
That's a one on the end indicating 'yes'. You sometimes can also use -bool yes or -bool no, depending on what it is expecting (but I've found 0, 1 and -bool no, -bool yes interchangeable).
Update: googling for "magic mouse disable right-click" I found two possible plists (and there is a setting, but I don't know what it is):
    com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist + com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist
