OS X 10.4.6 and Linksys PPSX1 printing issue

I recently upgraded to Tiger from Panther with a couple of regrets, one of which is related to using a Linksys PPSX1 Etherfast Print Server. Under Panther I had successfully created a printer using LPD/LPR, naming a que and selecting my printer (an NEC SuperScript 1800 with a PostScript upgrade). The SuperScript has only a parallel interface (which is why I bought the parallel printer version of the Linksys Print Server).
I also have a Windows PC and I share an internet connection with the G5 using a Linksys Cable/DSL router (hard-wired, not wireless). The Windows machine can print to the SuperScript via the Print Server (which occupies a port on the Cable/DSL router) without a hitch. My G5 did too, under OS X 10.3 Panther. But Tiger refuses to allow me to set up a printer using LPR. It allows only the LPD option.
For their part Linksys is no help. They don't promise any functionality using a Mac. And ditching the SuperScript is out of the question. Even though it's 8 years old it's a magnificent printer: 1800 dpi and very fast.
Help, please.

It's a lot easier than going to the Advanced menus...
When you click ADD, the first window that comes up is ususally the default browser box. At the top of that window there are two icons - the right one being IP printer. Click on IP printer and then you are given a pull-down with three TCP/IP protocol choices. Choose LPD from there.
Now for the harder part. On windows they have setup software - on OS X we have to handle details ourselves. The most common problem is not entering the print server's queue name for the IPP and LPD protocols. You can find the queue name in the print server manual. L1 lp, lpt1, etc are common queue names.

Seeking help with PS Elements 11 which does not work with Epson r2000 printer.  Epson tech support could not fix, said it is PS e11 problem.  Receive prompt on PS e11 screen when I try to print stating "not compatible or settings are not correct.  Have set PS to manage color and printer manages color to off.  Would appreciate any suggestions.  Thank you.

    Hi,
Sincerely appreciate your help.  Running Windows 7 on a  Dell XPS420.  System has been very stable for years.  Before purchasing the Epson r2000, I owned an r1800 which was an excellent printer but after seven years started to exhibit paper feed problems.  The r1800 worked with all applications and I was well satisfied with the saturation, contrast, etc. printing mostly 8x10 and 11x17 prints.
Thank you for the information about the # of installs for PS E11, will try uninstall/reinstall this morning.
Will let you know how things go.

  • Can't get my HP LaserJet 2100 seating on Linksys PPSX1 Print server to work

    Hi,
I can find and add the printer on Appletalk protocol. I've even downloaded the driver update from HP's site and installed it on my system but still when I print to this printer I get a few blank pages and a page with one or two line of junk on it (same problem existed before the driver update). The driver version is 4.3.5.153 as it appears in the general info of the printer. Can anyone help me with figuring this out and get the printer to work with my macbook pro please? By the way, from a win xp laptop I can print to it with no problem. The print Server is a Linksys PPSX1.

If I recall correctly, postscript is on a removable card on this printer. The symptoms you get sound like the postscript card is removed, but you're using the standard Mac driver - which is for postscript.
The other page language the printer understands is HP's PCL. There is either a Gutenprint driver included in OS X for this printer, or you can update Gutenprint to get it. Gutenprint outputs PCL instead of postscript.

  • Issues with Deskjet 5650 and Linksys wireless print server.

I have a iMac DP 1.8, a iMac G3 700 mhz running Tiger and a Toshiba laptop running XP and I am on a wireless network. I use a Linksys WRT54G router for the wireless and I am using a Linksys WPS54G wireless printserver to connect an HP Deskjet 5650 to the network. This was all working fine for the past 2 months until Monday evening when the Mac's lost connection to the printer. However the Toshiba can print to it just fine.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what happened. The iMac DP recently had a security update for intel installed this past Monday, but no updates have been installed on the G3 iMac. I have contacted Apple, HP and Linksys and they have been no help at all. Apple says it's a Linksys issue, Linksys says it's Apple issue and HP is just cluless. I would appreciate any assistance offered.
    Thanks

Paul, I am amazed you were ever able to print via the Linksys wireless server on your mac. I have the identical router and print server, and only the Windows PC's on my wireless network have been able to share the printer on that wireless server. I've been unable to find a driver for my iMac, and could never get the iMac to find the server. Finally gave up and bought an HP 2600n color laser and connected it directly to the iMac via USB. You're right about lack of help from Linksys. There is an Apple folder under "unsupported" on the print server installation CD, but there's nothing helpful in there.

  • Vista-64 and Linksys Wireless Print Server to cp1215

    I have Vista-64 OS
I have a HP CP1215 Color Laserjet USB attached to a Wireless Linksys Print Server (WPSM54G).
HP website shows 2 different drivers for this printer for Vista-64:
    1. Print Driver Package
    2. PNP Print Driver Package
My question is, which should I be installing? The Printer is USB attached to the Print Server, but I'm printing wirelessly to the print server. So, not sure which of the two is the correct one to install.

It is probably a driver issue.
It may work with a third-party driver such as the HPIJS drivers or the Gimp-Print drivers, but this is not the case with all printers.
Though for 10.3, this guide may also help.

  • Excise duty condition type and Purchase Order Print Issue

    Dear Friends,
We have a issue related to Purchase order print out.
    We are maintaining TAXINN.
We have implemented CIN and we are maintaining Excise Conditions i.e. Basic Excise in JMOP
In FV11 we are maintaining values for JMOP with plant and material Group combination.
In Purchase Order Tax calculation is happening correctly.
But issue is to find the value of taxes for Purchase Order Print.
We are using function module CALCULATE_TAX_FROM_NET_AMOUNT
and passing values of Company Code, Country, Currency, and Base amount to get the entries in condition types.
But we are not getting any entry even after passing the values.
How we can get these values in JMOP.
    Regards
    Kant

Why do you want to calculate the taxes during the PO Print when you are getting correct values in PO itself?
Modify your print program with pulling values directly from EKPO/ EKKO Tables and display it to Spool.

  • Adobe CS6/CC and Epson 9900 printer issue

Today I spent about 3 hours trying to print a larger image off an Epson 9900 with no luck. It seemed that no matter how I oriented the image or altered the settings in the printer driver window on the computer, the printer would always start printing from the corner opposite the actual beginning and only print about 2/3rds the length of the image. The print was on a 44" wide space, 32" long with the image centered and measuring 34"x28" in size. Once the file was sent the printer, it would begin to print in the proper margin, but stop the print around 27" instead of 34" and from the wrong corner.
Anyone know why? I think it might be an issue with the latest upgrade as this did not happen a month ago when I printed it the first time and when I plugged in my personal computer, which hasn't been updated yet, it began to print the image without any complications.

Sorry, I was in Photoshop trying to print an image.

Hello there Lawrence, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I noticed your post about the troubles you are running into when you attempt to install your OJ 6100 printer on your Windows 8.1 laptop. I read all of your attempts and seen you have tried several methods to try and get the installation to complete successfully.
I would like to make some suggestions that may help. Let me know how it goes!
    1. Check that Internet Explorer pop-up blockers are turned off before downloading the installer
Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker: How do I turn off Pop-up Blocker?
    Try to install
    2. If you're running McAfee Live Safe or any other firewall, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning".
    How to disable realtime scans
    Try the install
    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.
    Try the install

  • Sharing Linksys Wireless Print Server with MAC and PC - How to do?

I have lost the capability to share a printer on my network by using the Linksys Wireless Print Server-model number WPS54G -V2. Prior to having to return my previous Print Server on an RMA, I was able to use the MAC and PCs on my network. I have a PowerGook G4 with MacOS X 10.4.10. I also have a Airport Extreme Base Station V5.6. The printer on the network that is being shared is an Epson Stylus Photo 820. Recently, when trying to reconfigure the network, I updated the software on the Airport Extreme...so I think after that, I am no longer able to share this printer using current network configuration. As information, I will share how I got the network to share the printer BEFORE I had to replace the previous Print Server and BEFORE I updated the Airport Extreme. Please see this link:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050406151311940
Even though this was for a different type of Print Server, this worked for me.
When reconfiguring the new Print Server, I contacted Linksys...as had some difficulty until I found out how to assign a static IP to the new Print Server. When trying to talk to them about the Mac issue, and sharing the printer, they shared this link with me...which may be helpful to some, but I found that this does not work for me...
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060404021600193
I have been trying to work through the issue, but feel I may now have some compatibility issues between the Airport Extreme and the Epson printer.
Further details are that I use 10.0.1.78 for the assigned IP address for the Print server. My router (which is the Airport address) is 10.0.1.1. I have tried IPP printing option, LPD printing option...and IPP printing at least returns a status on the Print Server as "printing" as opposed to "idle". I have checked the Print status on the Mac, and I have received two (2) different error messages as to why the print job failed. They are:
"the process "picwpstops" stopped unexpectedly with status 1"
    and
"the process "rastertoprinter" stopped unexpectedly with status 1"
The latter happens when I follow the instructions on the second link I attached on this topic...with the only change being that I select IPP printing as opposed to LPD printing.
Anyone that has any insight into HOW to configure the mysterious settings for Mac OS printing so that it can be compatible with a Wireless Print Server, please feel free to comment. In the meantime, I am thinking that the links above could help some people...just not me at this point given my current configuration and versions of software/firmware and perhaps the printer I am using.
Greatly appreciate your consideration, and any suggestions to anyone that might understand what these error messages mean when checking the printer status after sending a file for printing.
    Thank you

    1. No, you don't have to make a bootable clone.
    2. If you use the drive for a bootable backup, then you cannot use the drive for other types of storage unless you partition the drive and make more than one volume.
    3. No, it will not try to boot the computer. You must designate the startup volume using Startup Disk preferences.
If you wish to use the drive on both a Mac and a PC, then either you make two partitions - one for Mac and the other for the PC or you must format the entire drive using FAT32 so the drive can be used for read//write by both operating systems. If you do this then you cannot use the drive for a bootable backup nor can you use it with Time Machine.
FAT32 is slower for read/write on the Mac than using Mac formatting.
Optimally, I would suggest you partition the drive into two volumes. One volume formatted for the Mac and the other formatted FAT32.
You can send files from a PC to a Mac and vice-versa using File Sharing. Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "file sharing" or "sharing" to find help articles. Also see,

  • Linksys Wireless Print server and my Mac G4

I just set up my linksys wireless print server and it's printing from my PC just fine - not so on my G4. My printer is a Canon Pixma ip5200, and the appropriate drivers etc are installed.
I know the IP address and have tried setting up the printer via IPP (and pinged it from the mac successfully). Just no success printing. The printer utility looks like it is printing to the printer but nothing comes out.
    Any ideas?

You won't be able to get this to work.
The Canon printer drivers won't allow you to connect to and print to a Canon printer attached to a wireless print server.
There is no solution, there is no way that this can work
    You have three solutions.
Replace the Canon printer with another printer for which the drivers will work.
Replace the Canon printer with a networked Canon printer such as the iP4000r (or any other network printer) in which case you won't need the print server
Connect the Canon printer directly via USB to the computer to print.

  • Problems in Internet access in the middle being a modem and Linksys RV016

Good afternoon, I have another problem with Cisco Linksys RV016 Router, the router used to connect to ADSL Internet 3 links which these in turn give direct service to a server right now each of them, the idea is to connect the 3 modems LAN router and connect the server, this is no problem so far. The point is that here at my work people access to Remote Access Servers for Windows and VNC TightVNC or my servers with Linux (ask why not login at TeamViewer or LogMeIn, but it is another matter), the idea is to leave as they are, that everything is apparent and improve systems with load balancing (Router). The modem has ports open for remote access the 3389, are accessed without nigun problem, but when connecting the router and can not, I opened the same ports in Router and name and works.
Servers handle the no-ip.org for access and name resolution on DNS and so with that name assigned by the no-ip is where remote access from the Internet.
I do not know if you understand, but I hope someone help me with this.
In advance thank you very much and greetings.

Look, the first phase of my work to be done is to try a single server and it has Windows Server 2008, you explain:
    1. This ADSL modem connected directly to a single server (Windows).
    2. It is accessed without any problem by remotely from another network and / or from the Internet via remote access.
    3. The modem has port 3389 open to allow remote access from another network or Internet (up to here is my current scheme and there is no problem).
    4. Connect between the modem and Linksys RV016 router server.
    5. I open the same ports with the modem for remote access.
    6. If I have Internet server.
    7. Remote access is not working.
As time??? something can be done to solve this problem. The server as you mentioned earlier is running as a service no-ip.org for publication DNS name and not have to be constantly changing the IP by automatic changes made by the supplier (eg server name and for which so is taken from the internet: servidorwin.no-ip-org).
See if you explain me better.
    Thanks in advance and greetings.
