OS X 10.4 on my G3
hi mates,
after working on my G3 with 10.2.8 I thought, well it istn't very fast, so it would make no difference to install 10.4. So I got a 10.3.7 and a 10.4-upgrade disk from a friend and startet to install.
the first error message installing 10.3 was "this software can not be installed on that computer".
so is it only possible to install it on only one power book?
My goal was to install it on a 3GB HD, for every other stuff I'd use an external HD.
after all this conflicts I wanted to install 10.2.8 again and now I always get a symbol when starting the PB. looks like a circle with a line thru it - forbidden or something.
so how can I install 10.3.7 or even 10.2.8?

Hi,
You don't tell us what version of the G3 Powerbook you have. Some will not run what you want to install, OS 10.4
One thing, just as a side remark. A 3GB hard drive isn't all that big these days. I don't know what the recommendation is but you might check that out in these pages just in case the installation procedures do not think that you have enough disk space.
If you just want to get back to where you were, it might not be possible, not without re-initializing your hard drive. Is that an option for you? If it is, you need to start up the Powerbook using the installation disk for the opertaing system you want to install, then I believe on the second screen, which is the one after selecting a language a selection is avazilable in the top of the screen menu for Utilities. If you go in to that, you will find a way to re-initialize your hard drive, then proceed with installation of the Operating System.
