OS X 10.5.2 not installing
Hi,
I have a MacMini (intel core 2 duo) and I have downloaded the 10.5.2 software update but it just wont install, I left it for a week and it just kept "Initializing Installation" and the progress bar didn't move. I have tried several times to install it but it won't
Title: Possible workaround found for Apple USB modem hanging OS 10.5.2
Hardware details: Macbook, using Apple USB modem
Same problem
My macbook and Apple USB modem worked fine for 8 months, until the day 10.5.2 was installed. Immediately after the install of 10.5.2, the OS started to "hang" whenever the Apple USB modem was used. The "hang" caused the keyboard and trackpad to be unresponsive and only the power key would respond to bring up the shutdown choices. Had to hold down the power button to hard power-down the machine.
Troubleshooting
The week of 3/31/08 I took the Macbook to the Apple store's Genius Bar to troubleshoot this problem. Here are the things we tried:
A different modem = same problems
Used modem without any programs running = same problems
Second opinion
A second Genius recalled an old issue where the Apple USB modem would not work with one USB port, but would work with the other USB port. We ran 2 tests in the store and it seemed that we were onto something here. The genius collected info with a software tool and escalated the case to Apples second level support. I will update the post if I hear back from them. Great support Genius guys!
The USB port matters
I setup my own tests to see if it mattered which USB port was used... and it does! In my tests, the USB port furthest from the magsafe power port worked every time (10 of 10 tries). Conversely, the USB port closest to the magsafe port HUNG the OS 10 of 11 tries). I don't know what could cause this in one USB port and not the other, but I’ll leave that to the second level Apple support folks. From now on, I am using the port that works.
I will post the results of my testing in a follow-up posting.
I would like to hear the test results of others that are having this same problems.

Ipod 5th Generation 80 GB / Device Manager / Driver not Installed / Code 28
Well, where do I begin! Got my 1st Ipod 2 days ago & still unable to use it! I have installed & uninstalled the itunes 7 software numerous times. On phone w/ Apple for 1 hour...followed by online chat help w/ Dell.
I've tryed 4 different USB ports on my computer. The device Manager shows the Ipod w/ a ? and a ! in yellow. The add new hardware tells me, "Drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28." My computer reconizes that the ipod is plugged in, but will not do anything. There is no communication between the 2. Keeps telling me to insert cd for software for ipod.
Help! Does seem that other people are having similar issues. I think a software cd should of been provided w/ the ipod....not sure if that would of corrected my problem.Hi,
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run. the Run dialog appears,
Type %temp%, then click OK.
locate and enter into the HP Installation temporary folder, start with the 7Z characters.
If you can see several folders starting with 7Z, locate the latest one.
Click the Address bar area, then the full address path will appear,
Copy the full path location by clicking CTRL + P while the path is selected.
Enter the Device Manager.
Right click the printer name with the error mark, then click Update Driver.
Select the second option to manually locate the driver.
Paste the temporary folder path and click Next (Keep Include Sub Fulders marked), the driver should be updated.
Please let me know of any change,

Follow the onscreen instructions, making sure to proceed all the way through the installation without canceling or exiting any screen.
Note
Do not connect the USB cable until you are prompted, or an install error may occur. Also, if your software is still not finding your printer over the USB connection, review the following USB tips.
+ USB tips
Ensure that your USB cable is no more than 5 meters (16.4 feet) in length. (For best results, use a cable that is less than 2 meters (6 feet) in length.)
Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB connector on the computer. (For example, if you plugged the cable into a front USB port, try plugging it into a port in the back.)
If the USB cable is connected to a USB hub or a docking station for a laptop, it could cause the installation to fail. Even if you believe that your USB hub works fine, try connecting the USB cable directly to the computer during the device installation (when prompted). You can always move it back to the USB hub later.
If you need to use a USB hub, use one that is externally powered instead of using a non-powered hub.
When the installation completes, try using your printer.

If given a choice, select the full feature software and drivers link.
This option may appear in an area labeled Drivers.
When prompted, click Save, and download the software to your desktop or a folder where you can easily find it.
Start the HP software installation by running the install program that you downloaded.
Follow the onscreen instructions, making sure to proceed all the way through the installation without canceling or exiting any screen.
Note
Some printer models require a USB connection during the install. If you are prompted by the software, connect the USB cable. Do not connect the USB cable until you are prompted, or an install error may occur. Also, if your software is still not finding your printer over the USB connection, review the following tips.

A few weeks ago an itunes upgrade did not install properly on my PC so I had to uninstall itunes and everything associated with it. I was able to reinstall itunes and it works fine including syncing with my ipod. However, now whenever I open my email (outlook) a box pops up stating MobileMe Services has stooped working. This happens a couple of times after I click to close the program. This a nusance and really slows down getting to my email. From what I've found MobileMe was something that used to be used by itunes to sync mobile devices but is no longer used by itunes. I can't find a way to remove this MobileMe from my PC. I've tried going into Contol Panel then Programs and Features to uninstall it but there is no button there to uninstall it. Any suggestions on how this can be removed?
Do you have a backup that you can restore from? Your old hard drive seems to be the problem.

On September 24, I got a message from the App Store saying there was an update of the Operating System on my MacBookPro laptop - OS X 10.9.5 - once I updated it, I got a message saying that there was an error in the update and that it did not install properly and that I should re-install the update. I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone help me?
You can manually download the Combo update if in doubt of the integrity of the OS 10.9.5
install on top of what you have, backups are always a good idea.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update (Combo) -
My 10.8.3 update did not install properly citing an 'Unknown Error'. Now, my Mail and Mac App Store aren't working. What went wrong and how do i fix it ?
I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

Elements Organizer does not install when reinstalling PSE10
I have a problem that I cannot seem to resolve. Previously Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 had been running flawlessly on my computer and was easily opened by clicking the desktop icon which had a "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe" target. After uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop Elements 10, when I click on the Desktop icon to start the application, I get a dialog box that says "The item 'Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved so this shortcut will no longer work properly". If I right click the Photoshop Elements 10 desktop icon and check properties, the Target says "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe". When I open Explorer and navigate to where the target says the application file should be, the "Elements 10 Organizer" directory does not exist. The only directory that does exist is the "Photoshop Elements 10" directory and it contains the 'PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe'. Yes if I click on that file the Editor opens, however when I try to load the Organizer workspace once the editor is open, it does not load because the entire folder and application is missing. I even tried searching the entire C-Drive to find the Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe file but it was nowhere to be found.
To be specific, I had PSE8, PSE9, and PSE10 installed on my 64-bit Windows 7 Professional w/SP1 computer. I decided to uninstall PSE8 & 9 because I had just purchased PSE12 and wanted to make room for the PSE12 installation. When I tried to first uninstall PSE8, the uninstaller stopped with the warning that PSE8 was installed in the same directory as PSE10. The uninstall then terminated when I clicked on OK. Next tried to uninstall PSE9 and received the same warning and uninstaller termination. The same thing happened when I tried to uninstall PSE10. Faced with the situation that all three products were installed in the same directory and would not uninstall individually, I found it necessary to uninstall all three applications manually according to the directions on the Adobe's knowledgebase.
To uninstall PSE8, PSE9, & PSE10, first thing I did was create a system restore point which is something I always do just in case something goes wrong. Then starting with PSE8, I first printed out the Photoshop Elements Help "Manually remove Photoshop Elements 8 | Windows that I found at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/826/cpsid_82673.html. Subsequently I printed out the directions for each product, PSE8, PSE9, and PSE10, are all on the Adobe website. Next I followed the directions contained in each article except for running the product uninstaller as I mentioned above and removed all three applications then rebooted my machine.
Next I reinstalled PSE10 and tried to open it only to find that it did not fully install especially the Elements Organizer. As mentioned you can open the Editor by going directly to the executable file however you cannot access the Organizer because it did not install and cannot be found anywhere on the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSE10 five time now each time using the product Uninstaller plus the "Manually remove PSE10" directions and I still cannot get the Elements Organizer to install.
My question is does Adobe have a utility that can be run after manually installing a specific product that would find registry entries that were not removed after completing the manual removal process? The problem I see is the manual removal process which shows possible registry entries to remove manually is built on the assumption that you were able to run the Uninstaller which is not the case with my problem.
Secondly does anyone have any suggestions on how to install both the PSE10 Organizer and Editor?I believe I found a solution but I need help in changing some of the parameters to reflect for a United States program install.
If you go to "Elements 10 Organizer is not installed [SOLUTION]" at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4745941 you will note the Poster says it is possible to force the install of Elements Organizer 10 by using the command line:
msiexec /i "E:\Adobe Photoshop Elements 10\ElementsOrganizer\Elements 10 Organizer.msi" TRANSFORMS=1031.mst ELEMENTS_DE_DE=1 ORGANIZER_DE_DE=1 STARTWATCHSERVICE=1 SUPPRESSREBOOT=0 NOT_STANDALONE=1 /l*v "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\OrganizerInstall.log".
I found that the above command line input does in fact start the setup for the PSE10 "Elements Organizer" Installer except it is in a language other than English.
Is there anyone familiar enough with coding and command line prompts to change whatever paramenters are necessary to have the installer run in English.
Hopefully there are some Adobe Staff monitoring this message that can answer the question for me.

Can not locate Workgroup Manager; possibly not installed?
Here's the story:
I'm trying to get my new camera software installed and one of the steps is to launch Image capture.
Image capture gives me an error saying: "No Image Capture Device connected."
Apple says to fix this I need to open Workgroup Manager (in /Applications/Server/) and change some preferences.
But, I can not find Workgroup Manager for the life of me. I used spotlight with no luck. I also don't have a folder in Applications titled Server. This worries me and makes me wonder if the program could have been deleted or not installed at all?
Any suggestions on how to find WgM would be welcome.Whoa... somebody got confused someplace... I wouldn't guess you are running OSX Server on a MacBook, but the oSX CXlient instead, so no idea how Apple came up wih that solution.
You likely should not have a Server folder there, nor the APP they speak of.
What kind of Camera exactly, and how does it connect? -
I have a site collection which I am moving from a SharePoint 2013 enterprise server to a SharePoint 2013 foundation server. This all seems fine apart from when I try and access the Site columns page (from Site settings) or when I save a Site as a template
- both times I get the error: Field type TaxonomyFieldTypeMulti is not installed properly
If I look in the SharePoint logs I get the following:
Unable to locate the xml-definition for FieldName with FieldId '249a1c1a-5a3e-4173-abad-779b01892510
Any ideas?
Many Thanks,
JennyI have re-done the migration from Enterprise to Foundation and now get the following error:
Field type RatingCount is not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete this field.
However I cannot go to the Site columns page as I get this error so don't see where I can delete this from? Previously I had to delete this field manually from each of the Blog sites but this time there don't
appear to be these fields to delete - I presume because I disabled all the features relating to this premigration?
Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance,
Jenny -
Can not install device driver in Windows 8.1
I can not install driver of my webcam(Odyssey OD 202) windows 8.1 (upgraded from windows 8)
The USB webcam is shown in Device manager.
When I attempt to update driver and search for it automatically it shows the following message.Hi Atanu Barai,
There may be a compatibility issue between the Microsoft driver and the device . I agree with ZigZag ,you may need to download the driver from the manufacturer website .Please pay attention to the compatibility ability issue with the
Windows 8.1 when you try to download the driver.
If the issue persists, try to plug in the device with another USB port to have a check .To verify whether it is caused by the USB controller ,we can try to connect another USB device to have a check.
Meanwhile ,please check the Event Viewer for related information.

I am trying to get media from my computer, and I only receive this error message :
This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed?
What should I do? I have a window 8 laptop. My video files are from my itouch/ipod. I am using Premiere Elements 7.
I have used this software with success before. HELP would greatly be appreciated!darlingdarleen
Did both laptop 1 and 2 have QuickTime (latest version or any version) installed on the computers with Premiere Elements 7 when you got this "this type of file......" message?
If you go to the opened Premiere Elements 7 projects involved and look at Share/Personal Computer/QuickTime, do you find that QuickTime Presets are shown and that you find export settings choices under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
Look at the file name of the video. Do you see any irregularies in the name of the file, dots and such?
If you record new iPod footage, open a new Premiere Elements project, and import that iPod footage, do you still get the error message? Putting aside, iTouch, what model iPod are these videos coming from?
Thanks.

I have a SharePoint 2010 site with two discussion boards. I added one additional field to each of the boards: a lookup to another list to link the discussions to individual projects. I need 2 different boards because they have different posting permissions
(one is open to all for comments, and one is open only to the project team to post but everyone can read).
When I go to the pages for each of the discussion boards, they work fine.
But I'm putting together a page for individual projects, and want to have web parts for both discussion boards on the same page, showing the discussions related to the selected project.
I am able to add one of the discussion boards to a web part in the page, but when I add the second discussion board to the page, the new web part contains:
One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields.
Correlation ID: blah blah blah
I've searched for similar postings, but mostly I see this error message related to migration from 2007 to 2010 -- this is not the case here: I created both discussion boards, and the whole site, in SP 2010. I've also found this message related
to coding errors using SPQuery. I am not doing any coding here, just using the built-in SharePoint 2010 Edit Page -> add a web part -> select the discussion list. I tried doing it from SPD with the same result. I figured it out. I was using ?FilterField1=fieldname&FilterValue1=value on the URL to the page to pick out one project number. The web part I was trying to add was for a list that did not have that particular fieldname. I didn't realize that would matter
since I was using the Connections -> Get Filter Values From to get my filter values from the main web part, which does have that fieldname.
I added a field with that fieldname to the other list and set a workflow to copy the lookup value of the project number lookup field into the new field. Now all is working fine. Sorry for the wild geese in my original question. -

JeevaHello,
Is there any other content type on library or check if there is any duplicate column? Could you please also show us your library columns detail? (pic is also fine of lib settings page)
If you have any ""Property Promotion" column then SP create those columns as site column and associate them with this template so check "Allow management of content types" for that form library as well.

Hi ,
I am working in sharepoint 2013, This is a custom timer timer Execute method where i am moving a document item from one library to other once its expired,it was running fine and suddenly giving following error:-
One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields.<nativehr>0x81020014</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>

I have filled all the meta data(site column) for the item but still same error, Please help me out as i have no clue why it is giving this error
public override void Execute(Guid targetInstanceId)

//gets the expired documents items

query.ViewFields = "<FieldRef Name='Expiration_x0020_Date'/>";
query.Query = @"<Where><Leq><FieldRef Name='Expiration_x0020_Date'/><Value Type='DateTime' ><Today /></Value></Leq></Where>";
SPListItemCollection items = listFrom.GetItems(query);
//if expired items found
if (items.Count > 0)
SPFile oFile = null;
foreach (SPListItem item in items)
string strfile = item.File.Name;
oFile = web.GetFile(sourceList + "/" + strfile);
//oFile.CopyTo("Archive/" + strfile);
oFile.MoveTo(destinationList + "/" + strfile);Hi,
I think the issue is related to the internal name of the Expiration Day.
In the caml query code lines, we should use the right internal field name to retrieve and filter the list items.
To avoid such mistake, we can use the CAML Designer tool to generate the caml query code.
We can download the tool here: http://www.camldesigner.com/?p=594
Thanks & Regards,
