OS-X 10.5.8 and Firefox 5 update results in NOTHING being printed from web pages. Printer works w/everything on my PC EXCEPT FF 5.0

Latest upgrades from FF have resulted in NO printing from FF. Using a Cannon MX870 via wireless

Freeze happened again several times this week-end, always with this message in the system.log:
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception!  status = 0xffff info32 = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error
I now have a strong feeling that it's a graphic card/driver problem related to OpenGL.
I have stumbled upon many discussions about this problem (also with iMacs, MBP), dating mostly from 2009 (with 10.5.2, several people waiting for a system update, but I'm running 10.5.8 and the problem is apparently still here), but nobody seems to really know what causes this freeze. Does anybody have an update?
It'd be great to know whether it's a hardware or software problem, before I order a new graphic card… (again, several passes of both standard and extended Hardware Test didn't reveal anything wrong).

Printing from web pages is excruciatingly slow since downloading most recent upgrades of Firefox Mozilla. I have a desktop iMac, OS 10.6.8, and an HP officejet printer 4500 G510n. The printer works fine with the Safari Browser and with woodprocessed files, but not with Firefox and web pages. Help please! It used to print fast with earlier versions of Firefox.

Hello and welcome to the Apple Discussions Forum.
I have hardly any experience with HP printers but since your posting has not been replied to yet I thought I'd offer some assistance.
With the printer status and ink levels working, it shows that you have a connection to the printer. So I would look at the issue being with the protocol being used for the print queue on the Mac.
Since you have XP and Vista working, I would check the printer queue configuration on either box. In XP, go to the Properties and select Ports. Click the Configure Port tab to view the connection. If you are using RAW, then this is known as HP Jetdirect-Socket on OS X. So if you are not sure what protocol was used before I would create another printer queue, this time selecting IP > HP Jetdirect-Socket. Then enter your IP address and select the K5400dn from the Print Using menu.
If this still fails to print then please reply. There may be limitations with adding the HP driver this way that I am not aware of. There may also be other driver options you can look at, such as HPIJS. If Greg Sahli reads this posting he has expert knowledge on this matter and will be able to offer some guidance.

• How to fix extremely slow printing from web pages with latest updates (iMac) & HP Office jet printer. (It was not a problem with earlier versions of Firefox & same computer & printer.)

The latest two updates of Mozilla Firefox are not useful for me because of extremely slow printing of web pages. It was never a problem before. Same iMac and HP officejet printer. How can I either fix it, or revert to an earlier version of the browser (without losing all my bookmarks) which didn't cause this problem?

Try scanning from your Mac.  Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom.  Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

I cannot print from any web pages with Mozilla as my browser. The printer gives me a blank page. I can print from internet explorer and all other programs. I have a
Cannon Imageclass MF8100 printer. I spoke to Cannon as I thought it was a Cannon issue and it is not.

Try the reset described here: <br />

• How to print any web page to PDF in Windows 7 after Firefox version 8?

Some web pages do not print to PDF after Firefox Version 8. The result is either incomplete PDF or the print progress stops at some point and Firefox is stuck. For example the following web page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln prints to PDF with Firefox Version 8, but it does not print with any version of Firefox newer than 8. Note that the latest version of Acrobat Professional produced the same results as well as other PDF generating tools such as "FreePDF XP" and "Bullzip". Also the same web page on this same machine does print from within Internet Explorer. However using Internet Explorer is not a solution for our needs.
Thank you for looking into this.

Graphics driver support seems to be a difficult area to get right...
I'd just be guessing as to any specific differences between Fx8 and Fx17 that affect the Adobe Acrobat plugin.

• Just downloaded Firefox 4, cannot print web pages, print is all skewed, looks like secret coding.

Tried to print a web page friendly receipt and then tried printing a web page, print is skewed, looks like some sort of encryption.

Installing nightly builds is not recommended for most people. If you install a nightly build you will get updates every day. Though the current nightly builds are stable, it is not unusual for them to be very unstable and at time unusable.

• I am now using v3.68 and tried updating to v7.01 but it does not seem to work. Went to control panel to remove all the old versions but Firefox was not listed there although Thunderbird is there. Please advise asap, thanks

I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong during the uninstall/reinstall process. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
In the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, look for Mozilla Firefox. Make sure to save (do not delete) your personal settings when uninstalling.
If it isn't there, just try installing 3.6.23, which is the latest in the 3.6 family. You can download 3.6.23 here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
With respect to version 7.0.1, are you saying that the installation failed, or it seemed to work but it's nowhere to be found?

Hae you tried to do a hard reset of your phone? This will not lose any data. Hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the phone turns off ignoring any slide to power off messages. Then power the phone back on.

Using Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.15 web pages print with some of the script as unintelligible weird looking script or maybe some kind of computer script. This problem also occurs with the web page on which this question is submitted. This doe not occur using IE 8.0 with the same printer.

These have nothing to do with Firefox.
C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\Connect
\11\ISUSPM.exe
and
C:\Users\Vinegarhill-User Acc\Desktop\Malware Removal Programs\eXplorer.exe
This one - C:\Users\Vinegarhill-User Acc\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ak4dv58c.default\extensions\ \components\afom.exe - is probably the AFOM - Memory Recovery & Retention For Firefox Only extension.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11922/
My advice is to uninstall that extension. IMO, you have too many extensions installed, and are asking for problems with Firefox. I am not against using a lot of extensions in Firefox (I typically have 45 to 50 extensions installed, but the mix of extensions you have scares me as potentially problematic.)

just got an iPad 2 and neither Keynote nor Pages were compatible. when I updated iOS as requisited, the backup from iTunes didn't work. the iPad doesn't connect to iTunes. what do I do?

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

• When Printing a web page from Firefox. The fonts are timy and all spacing is incorrect.

Prior to beta 4.12, the pages printed correctly. Now, the fonts are small and the text spacing is incorrect. All text has at least one extra space between the letters.
This happens on ALL sites when printing a web page.
I tried printing the same page in Internet Explorer and it prints correctly.

• Cannot print from web sites after update to FF 7.0.1

cannot print from web sites after update to FF 7.0.1
Printing from my email account (Cox) is OK
System Windows Vista

When my wife updated Firefox to version 7.0.1 she was no longer able to print items from the web such as coupons. She can print from her email (Cox) account.
She is running Vista.
When I updated to Firefox 7.0.1, I did not have a problem. I am running Vista also.
Tried using the Firefox help page but no help so far.
I did notice that on her computer in the "Plugins" for Firefox that HP Smart Web Printing is now disabled and is not compatible with Firefox 7.0.1. She had no problems until she did the update.

• When I print a web page it only prints the first page and not the rest of the web page below the page break.

When I print a web page firefox will only print the first page, all of the content to the first page break and nothing past that.
How can I change the settings so that it will print more than on page?

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
-> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
-> go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset" -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Time range to clear: select EVERYTHING -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on Cookies, Cache, Site Preferences -> click "Clear Now"
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

• Firefox crashes when yougo to print a web page?

After recent Windows updates (KB2502285/2485376/2479628/2467023/2454826/2425227/22393802) for Windows 7 32 bit applied to my computer on the 10th February 2011, all my browsers, Firefox, IE9 and Chrome all crashed if you tried to print a web page, go for a print preview or page set up. Only Opera was unaffected. I have uninstalled all the above Windows updates and lo and behold Firefox prints normally. I did a mass uninstall so I don't know which one of the above is the culprit, so hope someone can help me.

I filed a bug for this crash as it has been reported on Mac machines and all of the comments are either printing a webpage or printing a print button.
If I may ask are you using File > Print or is there also a print icon?
Another question for investigation is do you have print_printer?
In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
# In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
# Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
#right click new > string and enter name : print_printer and for value : enter the name of your printer with without the quotes, then OK.
Please post back with the results. Thank you!

• Since switching to Firefox 4 I'm unable to access a web page by pressing "Enter" after typing the url in the address bar; I now have to click on the bar; how do I change things so that I can go back to a keyboard shortcut?

I use keyboard shortcuts whenever possible but since updating to Firefox 4 I can no longer access a web page simply by pressing "Enter" after typing the url in the address bar. Can I get back to this useful shortcut somehow and avoid having to fiddle with a mouse?

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
* Troubleshooting extensions and themes
