OS X 10.5.8

Hi Apple People!
Since 2008 I have been using a MacBookPro3,1 (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.2 GHz, 2GB Memory) which is running OS X 10.5.8. Old, solid as a rock and I love it to bits haha.
However, now I'm finding the OS X is no longer compatible with the latest Chrome browser, it wont sync with my iphone 4s (running iOS 7.1.2) and ipad (running iOS 8.1.2) so it makes getting music and files on and off the iPad and iPhone really tricky, because I can't install the latest iTunes.  I replaced the battery about 6 months ago and the guy at the genius store told me it was now considered a "vintage model"
My question is this, is it worth upgrading the operating system on my macbook to the best OS X I can, Leopard I think, or should I just accept the inevitable and buy a new macbook and solve all my problems immediately for the next 7/8 years?
My idea solution would be to just have everything sync as it is, without upgrading the software, but I don't think that's an option anymore, and I'm sick of trying to find work arounds.
Cheers,
Bobby

Hi,
It would probably be better to get a new laptop. You can keep your old reliable and upgrade it to Snow Leopard, which costs about $20. You can upgrade from Snow Leopard to Yosemite -- free -- but as your computer is fairly old, there might be problems. Right now you can get a Macbook Pro 13 inch without Retina Display and is a steady workhorse.

If you want Retina go for that but it costs $300 or so more. https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/
I am using a mid-2012 Macbook Pro but have upgraded the startup disk to SSD. I have also kept a Macbook Air with OS X 10.6.8 mainly because I can use Appleworks on it.
