Os x 10.6.4 installation restart blue screen

Downloaded OS X 10.6.4 Combo update on June 15, 2010. "Successfully installed" on June 16, 2010. After required Restart, non-stop flashing blue screen! HELP

Try booting up in "Safe Mode" by holding down the "Shift" key while booting.
This disables the third party extensions, runs disk repair, disables fonts (Except system fonts) and moves font cache files to trash.

  • D20 - 4158 with Marvel Raid + windows 7 failed to restart (Blue screen) after installation

I installed Windows 7 64 bit by providing the Marvell RAID driver downloaded from  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-73716. The installation goes fine, when the computer restarts, the windows 7 logo flashes and then immediately the blue screen comes and then the computer restarts. This continues repeatedly.
I checked the Raid, we have one array with Raid 0 configuration. I could not find out why the OS installation goes fine but it fails to restart
    Kindly provide some technical input.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After double checking the link you provided....I'm confused on your setup.  Can you reiterate which drives you have in the system and which ports they are connected to?
For a D20, you should have all HDDs attached to the blue ports.  These ports route directly back to the Marvell controller.  Then during the OS install, you need to supply the Marvell driver (not the Intel RAID driver that you specified in your link).
The only reason you would supply the drive you listed in your link is if you're attempting to run HDDs off the black ports on the system.  This will work (but is not supported) for regualar HDDs in a non-RAID config.  The D20 utilizes the ICH10, not the ICH10R, so there is no way to utilize RAID off these ports.  The black ports are intended for ODD use only.
So I'm guessing you either have drives connected incorrectly, or you were attempting to provide the incorrect driver during the OS installation.

  • Slow restart - blue screen BSOD and Boot Camp restart issue

After Snow Leopard install on Macbook Pro I have experienced a very slow startup and restart. The grey apple screen appears for about 25 secs and then the blue screen hangs for 2mins and 2 secs. Also when restarting from Boot Camp blue screen just stays and restart fails. I waited approx 25 mins and blue screen was still there. I have searched Console system log for clues but am not technically adept. hopefully someone can help. I have copied log below form recent restart (in OSX mode, not boot camp). My Windows Boot camp volume is called ERICGLPC and I can see some issue on the log but unsure what it means.

  • Random Restarts - Blue Screen Error

Hello, everyone. I am having an issue with my new computer that I got about 2 months ago. I don't know the cause but my computer keeps restarting on its own, and then I get this error saying "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" along
with the problem event name being a blue screen. I'm up to date on all my drivers, and software updates. Here's the link to the dmp: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=92AEB3B6D3749539!107&authkey=!AN4JK9aVg_MefQA&ithint=file%2c.dmp
    Thanks

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

  • Windows 7 installation error (Blue Screen)

I recently installed Boot Camp on my Mac Pro so that I could install Windows 7 Ultimate. I followed all the instructions. Once I get to the part where Windows is installed my Mac Pro restarts and I get a blue screen with a bunch of errors. Then my Mac Pro restarts again and I am giving the "Windows was not shut down properly message" and asks me to choose a start up option. No matter what option I choose the same thing happens over and over. Can anyone help?

Apple doesn't support Windows 7 on our MacPro1,1. There is a llst of supported Mac of all things.
To use more than 1.9GB RAM you need 64-bit which won't boot from Windows 7 DVD.,
Okay, you want to put both on one hard drive; I don't. So you need BCA which is also semi crippled.

  • Menu Clock Time Jumps Ahead 5 Hours - Then, on Restart, Blue Screen Loop

This has happened twice now. I notice the time displayed by the menu clock is five hours ahead (I'm in New York time zone), then, on restart, I get the Blue Screen loop with the gear spinning, quick screen flash, then blue screen/spinning gears ad infinitum...
Last time I did all the obvious: Resetting PRAM et al, repairing permissions, etc... I finally reinstalled SL and all was good.
Any ideas what's going on? This is kind of freaking me out!
Running latest Snow Leopard on Intel Core Duo 2.8 GHz iMac.

Nope; although to be clear, they replaced the entire machine after a new logic board, power supply and hard drive failed to solve the problem; and the same problem persists. I'm inclined to believe that it's a software conflict of some sort, or -- since I haven't seen the same problem documented at length anywhere else -- I am very unlucky.
One thing I haven't done is reinstall the entire OS from scratch. I've restored it from my Time Machine backup every time. I'm purchasing a new hard drive tonight for that purpose.

  • Faulty installation. Blue screen.

    Hi
Tried to update 10.9.3. Installation has begun but not finished. During installation, the computer could not reboot - got a blue screen. At this moment I can reboot laptop only in a Safe mode. In Console mode I don't have "root #" (see image). How to fix it? How to cancel the installation? Clarify that a laptop with faulty discrete card and only works on Intel HD.

  • Boot Camp Crashing on installation. Blue Screen.

    Hi,
I am a newbie to the Mac world, so i apologise if I am being a bit naive. I have decided to install windows 7 on my Macbook Pro. It is a late 2011 model running a core i5 processor and i require Windows 7 for some of my university programming duties such as Visual Studio 2012.
I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Professional. I have been following the installation guide, however, i get to the "Windows is loading files" screen. Then, the Windows logo shows for a brief few seconds and then a blue screen is presented. Has anyone experienced this during Boot Camp installation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I just had this exact same issue. Windows installed fine. Put in the Leopard DVD and ran the installer and it crashed to the blue screen of death at the Broadcom Wireless driver.
    The solution?
Use the Install disks that come with your machine and NOT the Leopard install DVD. For me, this worked, but my machine came with 10.5.4.
I'm not sure what you'd do if your machine came with something older than 10.5.

  • CS 4 installation causes blue screen crash when printing

I installed CS 4 successfully and used it for months with no difficulty at work.  This weekend, I brought my computer home to do some work, and everytime I send something to my printer/scanner (a Canon MP780), my computer (IBM ThinkPad laptop running on Windows XP) crashes with a blue screen error.  When I try to use the scanner, I get the same problem.  I have reinstalled printer driver and USB port drivers, with no change to the problem.  I finally uninstalled CS 4, and was able to print and scan normally.  When I re-installed the Adobe software, the crashing began again.  The crashing does not happen when I am using the Adobe software, only when I try to print or scan any document from any software - then it happens consistently.  When the Adobe software is off, no problems.  Anyone have advice?

  • Sudden restart, blue screen

There I was, sitting there, minding my own business when suddenly my screen turned blue; all that was visible other than blue-ness was the clock int he upper-left corner of the screen; a minute later, I was prompted for my username and password like I always am when I log in.
What causes this? How can I prevent it? What should I look for?
I have been running this machine with the same installation of Tiger since I bought it 18 months ago. I had my first kernel panic two weeks ago, last week several open applications all crashed at the same time.
    Thanks
P.S.: Pardon me for the tone here if I am being inappropriate in some way, this is my first time posting here.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I know that. Considering that this is a single-user system (i.e., I am the only person who uses this computer, nobody remotely logs into it either), no sysadmin involuntarily logged me out.
It would be so helpful if someone could tell me what could cause this to happen, however. Perhaps there is a log file somewhere that I could look at and identify the problem. This is what I am asking, for the cause, not for a definition of what the event is.

  • TVAnywhere Plus Blue Screen on Driver Installation!

So I picked up the MSI TVAnywhere Plus PCI Card.
I installed it on the very bottom PCI slot on my MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum motherboard.
Right in the middle of the Driver installation, it blue screens on me.
    Quote

    Beginning dump of physical memory
After this, it reboots and then boots back into Windows.  Soon as Windows finishes loading up it then tells me that the Driver I was trying to install is not WDM Certified, do I want to continue, yes or no.
If I select Yes, then it does the exact same Blue Screen, again... and reboots, again... rinse, repeat, back to the Driver not WDM question, continue? yes, no?... rinse.. repeat...
If I select No, then it tells me that there is a problem with the Driver Installation and thats it.  My computer is then free to use but I can't use my new hardware.
If I go into Add/Remove programs and attempt to delete the software in there that was installed (as it seemed to have installed software related to the remote control) it will give me an Error and tell me that the Software can not be uninstalled, because it was not properly installed in the first place.  I have the same problem if I try this through Safe Mode.
I can not delete any thing that was installed, because it tells me I have to reinstall it first... but I can't install it, or reinstall it, period!  Every time I try, it blue screens!
Now, I have also tried going in through my Device Manager, selecting the device in the list, selecting Reload Drivers and MANUALLY Searching for the drivers on the CD and installing them that way, and again... same Blue Screen at the same point!
Lastly, I have attempted to download Drivers from the MSI Website.
However, those Drivers are a Year older then the ones that came on the CD.  The downloaded ones are dated July 3, 2008.  The Drivers on the CD are dated December 2009!  Also, the download gives me a Zip File with 3 sets of identical files.  I can not extract anything from the Zip File because all the files keep over writing each other.  There's three sets of each files, all different sizes.  I would presume to thing that one set is for XP, one is for 2000, and the third is for Vista.  Yet, there is no documention or any designation that tells me what is what so I can seperate them and use the correct one...
    So.
    Help!

    Ok!
    /sighs...
Audio problems fixed... have no idea how it happened but... didn't have anything to do with any my Creative X-Fi software, it was something in Windows itself that got screwed up.
In Control Panel, under "Sounds and Audio Devices"... then in the Audio Tab, and then select the Volume Button to open Windows' built in volume controls.  Then on that, under "Play Controls" there is a button for "Speaker Volume" which controls the volume of up to 8 speakers on a 7.1 system.
Somehow, the sliders for my two rear channels, my front right channel, and my Sub, were all reset to zero.
Again, no idea how that happened but seemed to have happened after I got the PVR Software working.

  • Sat M40-236 Blue Screen of Death

Just a few days ago i've bought Toshiba Satellite M40-236. I disliked the pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition and installed Windows XP Pro with SP2 integrated. Afterwards i installed all the drivers provided and advised by Toshiba from: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&teddProduct=5 38&cmsFamily=Satellite&cmsSerie=Satellite+M40+Seri es&cmsCategory=Notebooks&mode=allMachines&action=s earch
Updated Bios, Video drivers and so on. Everything worked fine, installed all the updates from Microsoft update site and then tried to install Windows Media Player from microsoft site. Then, when tried to open music file in media player the Windows shutted down with the blue screen of Death. After restart the blue screen remained. Tried to load to Safe Mode, Last good known configuration ... no result ... the blue screen remains.
Tried to reinstall Win XP HE from Recovery DVD-Rom, the same result ... after files are copied to HDD and the system is rebooted, Win XP Logo with running progress bar and suddenly Blue Screen of Death :(((
Tried to reinstall different verions of Windows (2000,XP Home, Xp Pro, 98SE) - no result, after it says Starting Microsoft Windows (during installation) the blue screen of death and nothing more .... STOP: 0x0000007E or STOP: 0x0000007F.
May be someone has the same? May be any solution of this problem? I think due to the Notebook is new one ... maybe there is smth with RAM ?

    Hello Kresh
Well, its very difficult to say what is wrong.
I dont think that the BIOS is wrong because a wrong
BIOS update procedure has damage the motherboard and it would be not possible to run or start anything.
Sorry I dont have a proper answer.
In my opinion you should contact the Toshiba service partner because I dont think that you will solve this issue by yourself.
Ps: You cant downgrade the BIOS.
Only the ASP has a possibility to do this.
    Bye

    Hi
Did you get this BSOD only once as yet?
Maybe its just a driver issue so check the device manager for any problems.
Normally BSODs are related to RAM or HDD. You can test both components using a special test tools like Memtest86 and Drive Fitness Test. You can use Google to find both freeware programs.

  • Windows 7 blue screen on Mid 2010 iMac running 10.8

I had previously had the 64 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium running on my mid 2010 iMac running 10.7. However, after upgrading to 10.8, my Windows installation would blue screen after booting. I suspect this was due to upgrading to 10.8 as I didn't make any changes to my Windows install because I only use it for gaming.
I've since removed the Windows partition, and tried a clean install via the Boot Camp Assistant. Windows installs just fine and boots cleanly. However, after installing the Apple Boot Camp drivers (freshly downloaded during the Boot Camp Assistant process), Windows blue screens upon booting. I can repair the Windows install using the built in process, but any attempt to install Apple's drivers results in blue screening. I've tried a clean Windows install and redownloading Apple's drivers several times with no luck.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? Thank you for your help!

I do see this. And I suspect Windows updates. Not Apple (though I would be the first to suspect those too).
iMac graphic drivers for Windows seem touchy and common. The April Windows monthly patch updates hit a few iMac users.
One person found that if they only did updates in smaller steps and not all at once they were fine.
Tuesday this week was another Patch Tuesday.
Games, heat, disk blocks, even RAM errors - one person recently we went round and round... bad blocks not heat, new disk drive and they were 100% stable and rock solid but was hard to rule out. Windows though is easier to test RAM and sectors. And Lion was not even aware or sensitive to those bad sectors and read errors OR RAM errors that Memtest clearly showed (run in OS X).
One person had upgraded RAM, low and behold the new DIMMs were just not fully pushed in and seated and making good contacts.
Try to rule out hardware. Maybe you stumbled on bad block being used now. Run chkdsk if nothing else.
And when updating or preparing to, run Registry cleaner in CCleaner first, Go To %TEMP% and remove everything there. Make a system backup image to another disk drive (NTFS) or with WinClone 3 (HFS, $20) or CampTune ($20).
Or it could just be uninstall one driver at a time, start with GPU, look at what was last installed. Windows drivers are not desireable for GPU. Get the one from AMD or Nvidia instead.
