OS X 10.7.8 not recognizing my password

I just updated my Macbook Pro to OS X 10.7.8 (from OS X 10.6.8) and after what seemed like a smooth download and installation, I can't login to my Macbook! I know I'm entering the correct password (which is nothing, I usually just hit the Enter key and it logs me in) and still no luck. I've restarted the computer, and I've also turned it completely off and waited a few minutes before turning it on and trying again.

You must back up all data before continuing, unless you've already done so. If you need to back up but can't log in, ask for instructions.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
 ▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

Pages for iPad is not recognizing the password I assigned to a document.  I included a hint, and I know I am entering the password associated with the hint.  Is there anything I can do to access my document?  i quite the Pages app and restarted it.  Now I guess I'll reset the iPad and see if that helps.   Thanks!

Interesting that one does not need the password to delete using Finder.
The Pages password protects the contents of the document.  If there were a Finder password, it would protect what you might think of as the "file wrapper" ... the stuff around the file content.
Glad it's not vital.  I have to say I only pasword protect those Pages documents that are, in fact, vital.
    Best of luck.

  • Mail not recognizing new password

All right so I recently had to change the password on one of my Yahoo.com mail accounts because I could not remember the last one. I have this one linked up the mail application on my computer, however it is not recognizing the new password (yes, I'm typing it in correctly, in fact I'm just copy + pasting it). I also checked keychain and it didn't find any problems  apparently when I ran first aid.
How do I get my computer to recognize my new password? This is ridiculous.

Unfortunately it is not recognizing the password still. It recognizes the copy + pasted password on yahoo.com, but when I use the copy + pasted password with apple mail (even after deleting it) it doesn't recognize it.
It was giving me a message that it couldn't connect when I put in the password. However I figured it out. What I had to do was copy the password from what I had, put it into the login area for yahoo.com, have firefox remember the password, then copy that password from firefox's preferences and paste that into the apple password part.
Weird thing is though is when I looked at the two (the one I had kept typed and the copied one from the saved yahoo) they were exactly the same, so I don't know why it wasn't recognizing it.
Thank you for replying to my question though!

  • Itunes is not recognizing my password

I'm trying to purchase a song and suddeny iTunes is not recognizing my password. I log in to Manage my AppleID and that seems to recognize it just fine;  for some reason iTunes is just not accepting it. I'm absolutely typing it in correctly, and it's the same password I've had for ages so it can't be wrong.
I do not think reseting the password is, or should be, my only option: I have too many passwords to keep track of as is.

Sorry is should have probably mentioned this problem is on my computor. I am using itunes 11 and win 8( never had a problem till now ) . My password seams to work fine on the appstore on my phone ( just checked )
When I try to use my password in itunes on my pc it wont let me log in, and get a unknown error message along with have you forgoten your password... which I havent.

  • My appleid is not recognizing my password! I've reset it several times already!

This is very frustrating! I have set up my apple account, etc and everytime I try to sign in with my appleid, it's not recognizing my password! I've already reset my password several times to accommodate the stupid error! Someone please help!!

If your son continues to have admin access, it means that he has unrestricted access to the password after you change it.
Another accessible admin account was mentioned.
He has put his user id in the /etc/sudoers file with root access.
You keep the password in a text file in your account. He has changed the access permissions on that file, so he can read this from his account. Similarly, you keep the password someplace that is no longer secret.
He or a sibling has distracted you with conversation while watching your admin keystrokes.
His own keystroke logger tracking what you type, or freely downloadable password cracking software.
You choose passwords that are simple for you and may be readily guessable family, pet, or household object names, birthdates, etc. Choose something that is off his guess radar. A name of something unique before he was born.
You hope he hasn't shared the admin password with someone outside the home.
Some ideas for you. Discipline isn't taking away the computer, it is temporarily taking away other privileges perceived as more valuable, if the password intrusions do not stop.

Apple not recognizing known password.  Iforgot does not send email verification.  Help please.
Don't know any other way to put it.  I typed in the correct password.  Now the account is locked.  Iforgot does not send an email verification.  The email is not in the junk mail or anywhere else.  It is typed correctly.  This is frustrating.  I was just trying to update the Ipad Mini.  I wanted to change the ownership to my husband and noticed that my daughter attached a new Icloud account.  I was just trying to verify her account.  I have the correct password.  Now the account is locked out.

I figured it out.  It's a little confusing.  I was trying to add a new email address for iCloud and I was supposed to type in the main iCloud user ID and password.  The wording is not helpful because it displays the name of the new email address.

try resetting your phone by turning it off and back on again. The servers may still be having a hard time keeping up, so you may just need to wait a little while and try again.

Thanks in advance for your help

I did not find the exact solution on the suggested site. only found the Error Code and description.
Then I searched on Google.com and found following result which has successfully solved my problem.
    LSNRCTL> change_password
    Old password:
    New password:
    Reenter new password:
    Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=DBDEV1)(PORT=1526)))
TNS-01169: The listener has not recognized the password
    LSNRCTL> set password
    Password:
    The command completed successfully

    Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=DBDEV1)(PORT=1526)))
TNS-01169: The listener has not recognized the password
    LSNRCTL>
Regardless of how you enter the password, through a single line or on the prompt, the change will not be successful. To change the password, you have to remove the line passwords_listener in the file listener.ora and then change the password.
    Thanks

  • ISP server not recognizing mail password

This has been going on for a couple of weeks. I get a warning that my ISP server isn't recognizing my mail password. The password hasn't changed, so I re-enter the password, check the box about remembering password in keychains. This may happen several times in one day & then it goes away for a few days ,but starts up again. It has started up again this morning x3 & I 'm at a loss as to what to do to fix it since I've only been on the Mac since last October. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi Debbie,
Ernie's almost certainly right about this being an ISP-side issue. For what it's worth, I occasionally get a similar message from Entourage about 'password not recognized, do I want to try to enter it again' during the periodic (5 minutes) check of the mail server on my work Mac. If the network goes out briefly or the servers bog down (both of which our IT department swears never, ever, well hardly ever happens), the business of sending the account password to the ISP's server and getting back an acknowledgement break down. Like you, I've found that when this starts happening, I just keep trying to reconnect until it works again, after which it will typically run OK for several weeks (until the next network upgrade).

  • Mail Prefs not recognizing my password

After I login to Mail and I select my name at upper right and select Account I am again prompted to enter my Password. When I do that I get a message:
    ==
Password is incorrect. Forget your password?
    ==
No - I did not forget my password!!!!!!!! I have entered my password many, many times and still I get this message.
I have no idea what to make of this. Also this morning I was prompted several times to enter my Mail password after I ...
now I just got a popup saying-
    ==
You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe System Preferences.
    ==
All of this bs started this morning. I have been in my MM Prefs and everything is just as it's been for years!!
    Any suggestions????

    Linc,
thanks for the info. In the meantime, I shut down, re-booted my i7, shut down all auto-launch apps (Mail) and ran DU. When done, I again re-booted and entered my name and pw in MM then went to my account in upper right, entered my pw and it worked???????
When I open Mail on my desktop all of my mail folders are grayed out and your email has yet to appear. There is also a ~ next to my inbox and my .Mac Account in MailBoxes.
I wonder if there is a correlation between my creating a new Provisioning Profile in my Apple Dev account and all of this??
    Thanks again.

  • My Macbook is not recognizing my password, why? What can I do to fix?

My Macbook Pro is a late 2011 Model running OS X. I can't give more specific specs right now as I can't log on to it.
    Background:
I have been running into the issue for the past several months of a dim green light on the Charger. The possible issues I am guessing and have read with this are:
a.) Need a new battery b.) Need a new Charger c.) Need to charge the logic board.
c.) was inspired by this thread Why dose my MacBook not turn on and the charger light is very faint and the post by "rajjulian" (7 posts in)
Inspired by c.) I took my Macbook apart for the first time last night and pulled out the battery. According the post in c.) I can somehow "charge the motherboard". It was not obvious to me that I could actually do this. So I put everything back together.
I turned the computer back on and used the internet for a few minutes. I tried to download a file and came across the error "Not enough Disk Space" (or something like this :-/). After checking I still have plenty of room on the computer looking at the diagnostics (less than half the total storage is being used).
Upon searching the internet again I came across an article, which I can't find again because its on the downed computers history. Anyways, I ran a Disk Repair in Disk Utilities. I then upgraded my Software. Restarted the computer. And attempted to login. Which it did not allow me to do. It did not recognize my user password.
Latest: I can't even get into the login screen this afternoon. Its on the grey Apple screen with the loading circle thingy.
Moral: Only try fixing your computer if you know what you are doing.
Any help or ideas for how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. I have a lot of important files I need to get off of this thing :-/
    Thanks ahead, Kyle

Go to the printer manufacture website and download the drivers for your printer model for OS X v10.9 Mavericks.
Then open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
Select your printer on the left then click -  (minus)
Then click + (plus) to add the printer.
