Os x 10.8.3. mail change

I use apple mail with icloud (I have only 1 account setup in mail). I have created an alias [email protected] and then there is standard icloud address [email protected] (in mail prefs is in Email:  [email protected],[email protected])
before 10.8.3. when I replied to mail, always was used as from address an alias [email protected] Only when I replied to mail sent to [email protected], os x mail used as from address [email protected]
But after upgrading to 10.8.3. os x mail uses from address [email protected] (by default) also when I reply to mail, which is sent to different address than [email protected] or [email protected] I dont know how to setup os x mail to have by default from address [email protected] I have this address in the first place in "email" field, so it should be used.
Address [email protected] is used as from address only if the email I reply is sent to [email protected] Otherwise is used icloud adress [email protected]

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Mail changes itselve the subject of my inbox mails

I do not know what, but the Mail changes the subject of my inbox some mail and notes.
Is very random, so change the subject of any mail or not receive, and also during the day change the same mail several times... It happens in MobileMe, gmail, etc...
It works like a virus, but maybe is my fault.
The good thing is that nothing is changed in the cloud.
I do not if anybody is going to answer, I am trying to find info since 4 of July 20011 but I have not find anything yet.
    Thank you so much

This sounds like it may be an indexing problem.  Are these two account being accessed as IMAP?
Have you ever forced a reindexing, and if so, did you remove the IMAP account folders prior to doing so?

  • Apple Mail change my signature font

I need for business purpose to have a separate font for my email  font and my signature. But everytime Apple Mail change my signature font according to the body font.
What can I do? (I didn't check the box with "use my default font")
    thx
    Andrea

I sign the pdf with a digital signature which includes a picture of my written signature.  When I attach it to Apple mail or upload to mobileme, the signiture disappears.  My clients see nothing.  When I go back to the email in the sent box and open the pdf in the email there is no signature.  When I open the original pdf the signature is there
This problem does not exist in outlook 2011, but would have liked to use mail as outlook does not support caldev
I don't know if I can explain it any better.

  • Mail Changing Attachment Names

Does anyone find that their Mac Mail changes attachment names into something like ??Q?documentname?=? so you are unable to open them unless you rename and save?
I think I have narrowed it down to only happening with attachments that have a long(ish!) filename.  It only happens when a Mac computer recieves.  Doesn't matter if a Mac or Windows machine sends the mail.
Any help appreciated as 50% of my attachments are coming through in this format.  V frustrating!

Are you sure your RECEIVING email client isn't doing the conversion?
    Thank you for the help.
It wasn't actually the email client at the other end, but rather a third-party photo app on my iPad - Photogene.
I had been sending the screenshot as an email attachment from within Photogene. It seems that this app was converting it to the JPEG format. When I simply chose the image from the Camera Roll - directly in the Mail app - the PNG format was kept.
    Thanks again.

  • Mail changes

Recently Mail changed the way the various mailboxes looked.
the Inbox now look like INBOXSPECIAL_MAILBOXNAME.
    The Sent box: SENTMESSAGES_SPECIAL_MAILBOXNAME.
When I forward a message or reply to a message, it now says FORWARDSUBJECTPREFIX.... and then the message or REPLYSUBJECTPREFIX....
How to I make it go back to the normal mailbox names?
I do not recall doing anything, or updating anything that would have caused this to happen.
    Regards
    Tim Byrne

    Try going into:
    /Users/"user"/Library/Mail
Back the "Mail" folder up by duplicating it to the desktop or something similar.
Once you have BACKED UP go back to the "Mail" folder and you should see folders representing your various mailboxes. Each should have a "plist" file. Try removing the plist files (you can just leave them in the trash for the time being). Do this with Mail closed and then open it to see if the issue is resolved. You can also try removing the "SmartMailboxes.plist" from /Users/"user"/Library/Mail too...
You might want to post if this is an IMAP or POP account. If IMAP the mailboxes may be deriving their names from the server end of things.... (?)
You might also try removing (back it up) the : "MailAccounts.plist" from /Library/Mail/com.mac.mailaccounts if this issue is with a ".Mac" account.
If all else fails try exporting your email, reinstalling Mail and then importing the mail back into the application.
    Good luck!

  • Mail change address book!

hello, excuse me for my BAD english...
I have big problem with my address book:
i have a imac 27" and macbook air with snow leopard and 1 iphone 3gs.
i have, also mobile me and I sync with mobile me address book, calendar and more...!
It is very very good for me BUT I have a problem.
    Sometimes some contact CHANGE name!
I have do many tests and I have see THAT IT'S MAIL program that CHANGE some contact name when I send an e-mail at this contact!!
for example: I have 200 contact. 5 of this have an e-mail. the other only number...
I send an e-mail with Mail program from my imac to one of this contact...for example John Mcdonald...
immediatly MAIL change the name of John Mcdonald in my address book. (and mobileme change the name on my iphone and on my macbook air...!) the name often change to John mc donald john mcdonald (repeat two times...) or john john mcdonald...or, for other contact change to CAPITAL (JOHN MCDONALD).
so, in my test on this BUG I have connected this problem to adressees precedence on MAIl program...If I empty this "adressees precedence" I don't have the problem...but I need to empty every day...2-3 times a day...!
I hope You can help me...!
I hope apple can resolve this BUG: WHY MAIL program CAN modify MY ADDRESS BOOK??! MY ADDRESS BOOK is MINE!
    do you have this problem?

how do you manage a business contact in order to overide the problems before said related to the union mail/address book?
There is no problem with Mail and Address book regarding this except the fact that the OP is trying to conflate a perfectly normal behavior into something abnormal. This is not a bug, no matter what anyone else may think. It may be inconvenient to the thinking of some people, but it's not a bug.
Address Book is meant for keeping contact information of individuals, with their given first and last names. It is not for keeping information in any fashion you like. Failing to adhere to the design of the program will yield unexpected or unwanted results. It's not a free-form database, nor was it ever intended to be, so people need to stop trying to use it as such.
I seem to manage my contacts quite well without problems by simply entering their given names, along with their company name (where applicable) in the Company field, and their email address(es). I've never had a problem yet.
There is a way to completely disable this behavior, but it would also have the effect of forcing you to completely type the full email address(es) of your recipients each time you send an email.

  • Sudden Mail problem - mail changed languages....

My mail worked fine.... then suddenly the Menu Bar changed to spanish and I could not longer access mail. Called tech, now it is in another language and mail will not open at all.
    Any suggestions?

If by INFO you mean the system pref "International" I went there and could not uncheck all languages. However, I was playing around and discovered that Mail will use every language I chose (Dutch, French, Spanish) and not use "English", "British English" and "Canadian English". If I put English at the top of the list Mail would always use the language second on the list. I noticed I could do these changes on the fly by just quitting Mail, changing the language in sys prefs and restarting Mail.
Anyway... I guess the problem isn't that Mail changed the language but that Mail cannot use English menus. I've deleted the Mail prefs and nothing changes. This is quite frustrating.
    Any tips, anyone??

  • I have adobe reader X. Is there no way to save, print or e-mail changes to a secured pdf?

I have adobe reader X. Is there no way to save, print or e-mail changes to a secured pdf? I've inputted changes and have digitally signed, but none of my edits seem to save?

By what kind of security I meant what is allowed and what is not allowed under the security tab that I mentioned in my last post?
You can look at that and see if it restricts what you are trying to do. If it does then yes, you need a version of Acrobat (and the password of course) to change it.

  • Very Strange- Mail changes all dates after two days

I have a very strange behavior:
Apple Mail changes the date-information of incoming and outgoing mails after about two days -
for the first two days it says "today" or "yesterday" after that it changes all dates to one single date (december 12.2009 and some to december 12.2010).
I just put in a new pram battery, so this cannot be the problem.
    what the heck is this?

Hi Noe, do you have anything in Rules that is set to happen after 2 days?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • After joining a company to receive products, my icloud mail changed and I can't change it back

I joined 'itworks'.com and went on the site to edit our information for purchasing product etc.  my email in icloud changed.  it now says 'itworks' in the "To;" section of receiving mail.  very confused.  I went into the mail preferences and could not find out where this is to change it?  HELP!

I went into the profile and 'corrected' my email address (icloud account) and then shortly after, all my icloud mail became the 'itworks' in the From and To of my sent emails......I then went back to the profile and switched my email account to an 'alias' in 'outlook' account.  It still didn't change my icloud.....
so then I quit (exited) my mail on the computer and reopened it. It has now finally got back to normal again.
    Thank you for your help.

  • IOS Mail changes .mhtml extension to .html when opening in another app

    Hey there guys,
Just noticed this, this morning. Recently, our Backup server admin changed the report sent out by our Microsoft DPM server from PDF to MHTML output. (DPM could *never* format the PDF correctly and, surprise surprise, can format the MHTML output just fine).
Anyways, I purchased an MHTML viewer from the Mac App Store for OSX - all fine. I purchased the iOS version of the same developers viewer this morning and tried to open the mail attachment into that app. Oddly, it just showed as text - just like it does inside the iOS Mail app itself.
It was then that I noticed that the attachment extension was .html not .mhtml - yet the file attached to the email is definetely showing as .mhtml.
I tried a wee experiment and opened the attachment into Dropbox instead - sure enough, the extension was changed to .html again.
I then forwarded that message out to my gmail using the Mailbox app and opened the attachment into the MHTML viewer from there - perfect! Because it didn't change the extension as it passed the attachment to the opening app.
So, I have what obviously is a bug in the iOS Mail app - I just want to report it to Apple so it can be fixed. I can't find anywhere to log this bug without having to pay money for a support incident.
Knowing that Apple frequent these Communities (I have been contacted by them in the past following posts I've made here), I thought this might be the best course of action.  Or, if I am wrong, someone would let me know!  (Either about the bug, or how to report it)... ;-)
    Thanks!

  • Purchase order by e-mail: changing the e-mail subject

    Hello all,
We are sending are purchase orders to the vendors by e-mail.
I would like to know how can I change the e-mail subject to a subject of my choice (for instance the PO number, etc.).
    Thanks for your help,
    Sivan

    Hi,
You can  change the e-mail subject to a subject of your choice by following way.
If you want to send a purchase order as (external) mail, for example, to a
vendor, you have to maintain the mail title in the condition record for the
output type (for example in Transaction MN05) on the 'Communication method' tab
page. Enter the mail title in the 'Text for cover page' field. You cannot
    maintain an additional mail text.
    Hope this will help u,
    Deepak

  • E-mail changes to unreadable text when moved to another mailbox folder

    Hi,
when moving a correct received e-mail to another mailbox folder, the mail and the attachment will change to unreadable text and it looks like the column below.
On my iPad and iPhone the mail and the attachment is shown correct. If I forward it to my own account again, the mail is also correct shown an my imac27, as long as it resides in the in-box.
On the other hand, there are lots of mails+attachments with "normal" behavier when moved.
    Any idea about that?

  • Mail changing my email address in prefs

In Mail > Prefs> Accounts, Mail keeps changing my email address field to 'myname'@mac.com, when the actual address is '[email protected]"
The server doesn't recognize this address, of course, so I can't send mail. I correct the address, save the changes and everything is fine. Later when I can't send mail, I find that Mail has changed the address back...
    Corrupt prefs file?
    Thanks for any ideas.

sure sounds like a corrupt pref file. quit Mail and move the file homedirectory/Library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to the desktop. start mail. you'll have to set up all your accounts again so make sure you enter all the info correctly. once done Mail should recognize your existing mailboxes kept in homedirectory/Library/Mail.

  • PDF attached in Mail changes suffix

This is a really strange problem. When sending PDF files attached per Mail, the suffix will be automatically changed from .pdf into .pdf0, .pdff and so on. It happens randomly. What can be done here, has someone observed the same issue in his Mails?!

I have not experienced the problem, but others have. It appears to relate to special characters (such as umlauts) that are used in the filename - combined with a mail format that is text only.
    This post is helpful: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7358148#7358148
    Solutions thus appear to be:
    1) Avoid special characters in filenames (not practical in some languages), or
    2) Use HTML elements in every email (the preference alone is not enough), or
    3) Use a program other than Mail for sending emails.

  • [Mail] change RSS header font and color

    Hi.
I use Mail.app to read RSS and have some troubles with it. Let me show how does it looks like:
As you can see, RSS header at Mail.app use very large fonts for RSS title and entry, some about half of the header is the date. Hmmm. This is wrong. And I want to change this UI behaviour, but Mail.app doesn't contain settings for this option.
So, I looked Raw Source of RSS at Mail and saw some additional information about RSS and Mail:
    X-Uniform-Type-Identifier: com.apple.mail-rss-article
    <html><head></head><body><h3 id="AppleMailRSSTitle" style="font-weight: normal; padding-top: 5px"><a href="..." style="text-decoration: underline">Entry Title</a></h3>
I tried to find at least some mention of the AppleMailRSSTitle id in the system, but found none. And under the "tried to find" I mean this:
    sudo find / -type f -name '*.*' -exec grep -H AppleMailRSSTitle {} \;
In general, I do not find a way to change the font size in the header. Help me solve this problem, because it looks disgusting.
    Thanks a lot, dive.

Before starting to complain, I have to admit that Mail.app made me switch from other rss and mail applications. It works well and I like having rss and mail in one program.
But I totaly agree with you, I found this post by trying to find a fix for this ugly header. Also it's a mistery to me why the source name is the main title and the subject is the smaller sub title...
And while I'm at it, just one more thing, this rss header or at least the title should be a link. So that if you want to open the selected post in your browser, you don't have to scroll down to the "read more" link.
