  • No sound from tv after laptop connected (G60)

    Hi
It is no sound from TV, after i connecting my laptop to tv through hdmi cable on hdmi port 1.
    However, the image looks ok.
I open the sound control panel, see NIVDIA HDMI OUTPUT SEEMS WORKING, (SET DEFAULT), BUT THE VOLUME IS VERY LOW, AND NO TEST SOUND COMING OUT FROM TV EITHER.
I tried to set up the audio system in NIVDIA control panle under VIDEO AND TV as instruction in HELP of NIVDIA help manual. But i just cannot find the audio system set up.
    anyone can help on this,
    Very appreciated!
    Tnx

Try this, it works on my PC:
    Connect HDMI cable to TV.
In the Control Panel, select "Sound" by double-clicking it.
Click the "Playback" tab and look for an icon for your television.
Highlight the TV icon and then select "Set Default".  A green checkmark should appear on the TV icon.
You should now hear sound from the TV when your HDMI cable is connected, and sound from your PC when the cable is not connected.

  • No sound from speakers after 10.4.4 update

After doing all the latest updates I'm not getting any sound from the speakers on my powerbook. I can stream music, or listen to sound on my headphones, but not from the speakers. Any ideas?

If you did your update through the software update function, some have found that applying the combo update, which has to be downloaded from Apple, fixes things. Apparently the updates done through the software update function don't always update everything they should, where the combo update is a more thorough update.
You can find the 10.4.4 combo update at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1044combo.html and the current 10.4.5 combo update is at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1045combo.html

  • No sound from speaker after upgrading?

I just upgraded my iBook Clamshell 466 SE Graphite with more memory and a new 60GB 7200 RPM Hitachi hardrive. I also upgraded from Panther to Tiger with a Black Retail DVD.
First, I installed the memory and then the following day, I installed the hardrive and OS.
After installing the hardrive myself (30+ steps with the ifixit.com instructions) and installing Tiger, I no longer have sound through the mono speaker although it was working perfectly before. It took me about an hour to carefully and meticulously disassemble and reassemble my laptop while removing tabs, screws, cables, etc. and being organized about it.
I'm not sure why I no longer have speaker sound but the headphone jack still works with sound. I double checked that the speaker cable was properly connected on both ends. I don't think it's a ciruit board issue since sound is still being delivered through the headphone jack.
Is there a way to run some sort of diagnosis as to my sound problem? How do I check my firmware version and is it possible that I need to update? I appreciate any help in advance...

I always try to leave the speaker cable connected to the logicboard (as well as the HD cable) during the installation of the new HD - simply remove the adhesive foil and let it slip through the hole in the EMI shield.
Otherwise you have to wrench at the cable to come out, and that might be the problem.
For testing purposes, try to connect a set of earphones with bare cable heads to the end of the cable or directly to the solder joints of the integrated speaker.

  • No sound from messaging after ios 5 update

I updated my phone and I cannot get the sound to work on the SMS messaging as to when I receive a text from my husband or anybody. I looked in the phone and it is set up to play sound but still nothing. All the other sounds works fine. I also had issues from sending multiple texts to people. I fixed this by turning off the imessaging and so far that has seemed to work now if I can just get the sound to work. Any ideas?

Solved it, I had to manually create a profile for the iPhone with the APN settings in and then install it.

  • X220 no sound from displayport

My X220 does not transit sound to the TV when I connect a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable with a DisplayPort connector at one end from laptop, and an HDMI connector at the other end from TV. Please help resolve this issue.

You have to use a resolution that is supported by your TV. Don't use windows settings, instead use Intel control panel (or whatever it's called in english). There you can usually see all the resolutions supported by your TV, and if you can't you can change to a custom resolution (just be careful, if you change it into something weird it might harm the display). If it's an HD display you can set it to 1280x720 and it should work.
I've also figured out what's the problem with my connection to the TV. The computer keeps sending a DVI signal even though it's connected through a HDMI cable. I think this is because my TV isn't correctly identified, maybe because it's so old. Ubuntu 11.04 does recognize it though, but it's such a pain to use that i rather just use an extra set of speakers with windows. If I could only get windows to identify it properly everything would work as it's supposed to.
By the way, I also use the latest drivers and have tried older ones aswell but it doesn't make a difference for me.

  • Getting no sound from TV after connecting Macair via mini DP to HDMI port....pls help

I've tried connecting my 2011 Macair to my LED tv via mini DP to HDMI port. The video works fine but there is no sound. I tried opening network preferences and went to the sound section but it does not show my TV to be selected as an output option. Please help!!!!!!

Did you try on another device, like a computer monitor? To verify the problem is not with the adapter or cable.
Off course you switched on the external screen using WinKey+P?

  • Dell E6520 IDT 92HD90BXX - no sound from speakers after update

After recent kernel upgrade speakers in my laptop stopped working (only headphones output works).
    I had been using ALSA.
I switched to OSS to bring the speakers back and it works.
I'm fine with OSS unless all of my apps recognize and work with it flawlessly.
(Internal mic however works neither with ALSA nor with OSS :-( )
Searching the net I found that it's an overall problem with this piece of hardware. (UBUNTU bug-reports)
I need the mic so where should I start poking. (Tried everything in alsamixer)
When I try to record sound I can hear only slight noise.
Maybe the driver doesn't support internal mic or assumes it's a line-in?
Why did it stop working with ALSA?
On reporting a bug what data should I provide?

try repairing permissions, restsrt and "fiddle" with
    settings in sound prefs
What do you mean by "fiddle"? I uplugged my Apple Pro speakers last week so I could boot my computer without waking up everyone - it was early. When I plugged them back in they are not recognized. I tried zapping and some of the other suggestions I've seen here but nothing works.

  • HT4623 Hi I have just updated ipad to latest software and since then I can't get any sound from speakers only ear socket or FaceTime works fine any ideas thanks Mark

NO sound from speakers after update only headphone jack works, speakers work on FaceTime
    many thanks Mark

Reboot the iPad and see if that helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • No sound from TV when using HDMI from HP Envy Ultrabook4 despite downloading drivers

Problem: When using an HDMI cord from my HP Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4 (4-1105dx)to connect to my TV to view movies, the video appears on my TV screen, but there is NO sound from the TV. Instead the sound comes from my lap top.
Troubleshooting: I have looked under Sounds in the Control Panel, but the only choice listed is Speakers & Headphones IDT High Definition (which is the default) and does not allow sound from the TV when using the HDMI. I have also tried to download Driver and Audio Graphics, but wasn't sure which one & the ones which were downloaded have not solved the problem.
Can you assist me? Which is the correct Audio/Graphic Driver to download? Or is there another possible reason why I cannot hear sound from my TV when using the HDMI to connect to my lap top?

    Hi,
Please try this first to enable Speakers in Playback devices as follows:
    1. Right click speaker icon (bottom right hand corner)
    2. Select Playback devices
    3. Right click HDMI sound
    4. Enable it
    5. Click Apply/Ok
    Regards.

  • No output sound from output port/analog audio: Need help

hello, I want to connect my analog audio equipment to my iMac. I have done this in the past with my old G3. I have connected the RCA cables to a 3.5 mm jack and put it into the audio input port, which was what worked on the G3. When I open the sound page for input & output, on Output I can see the volume bar thing moving in relation to the sounds from mic, turntable, etc: all the analog audio things. However, there is no actual output of sound through the iMac;s speakers or a headphone. The output page is pretty simple so I am real sure I have all the rigt things checked, unchecked etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had what sounds like a similar problem to jazzzrat. i had my macbook setup to a stereo and it worked for over a year. suddenly no sound came out of the stereo. in my case, it definitely was a software setup thing.
plug in your stereo jack into the audio out port. then go to system preferences-->sound-->output. on there you should see, under "device for sound output": Name=Headphones, port=built-in output. (if you see name=built in speakers, you plugged in the wrong plug). Now go down to the bottom of the window and UNcheck the "mute" box, and make sure the volume slider is midway or more.
For some reason, mac allows you to mute the "headphones" and "built in speakers" selectively. we have no idea how that box got checked, that remains a complete mystery. but when we eventually found -- and unchecked -- the box, our stereo output came back just fine.
i hope this works for you. good luck and have a good new year.
