My iPhone 4 crashes very often (3-4 times per day) and sometimes (2-3 times per month) all my apps disappear and I have to restore them with iTunes. I downloaded all the system updatings and I also tried to restore my device, but I still have this issue

If you haven't already, try restoring your iPhone as a new device, not from a backup, and with only the apps Apple includes. Then see if the problems persist. It's possible that a corrupted file on the iPhone is causing the problems, and that could perhaps be coming back onto the iPhone if you're restoring using a backup. Problems with an app could also be causing problems. If the problems persist after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you almost certainly have a defective iPhone and will need to contact Apple for servicing.
If the problems go away after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you can start putting your other apps back on and see if the problems reappear; if they do, you probably have a badly-coded app.
    Regards.

  • Macbook MID-2012 crashing every day (Kernel Panic)

    Hi!
I hope I'll find some help here.
My new Macbook (MID 2012) is crashing everyday. I read that this might be a RAM issue (maybe due to the fact that I installed 16GB 1600Mhz of Crucial), but this would really surprise me because I only got this issue after some weeks of the RAM replacement. In some cases I need to restart my MB a couple of times to get it run again. Also pretty weird, I got a similar issue when using Ableton Live, my trackpad an my keyboard freezes (computer continue working), and then I need to restart it a couple of times, and one of the two USB holes isn't working anymore (and to get it work again I need to reboot it again). For information : I have an USB hub with a MIDI keyboard connected, an external HDD, an USB Key, a Dongle, a Keyboard and a Mouse. I'm also using an external Audio Card, connected to the second USB hole, and a 27'' Screen. I really would like to reproduce theses crashes, but it's always happening at some random moment (not necesseraly due to a RAM overloard or so) Maybe some issue in my configuration.... Any thoughts ?
    Thanks in Advance !

Before you do anything, finc and remove the following kernel extension:
    com.avira.kext.FileAccessControl          1.0.0d1
...it could be anywhere but your root System>Library>Extensions would be a good place to start. If you can't find it, download the free "EasyFind" from the Mac App Store and search for "avira." Once you move the kext (to a Desktop folder, for example) reboot and see if you're still having kernel panics.
    Good luck,

Crashes in safemode, crashes on a new user profile. Drivers up to date, clean system. HW acceleration disabled. It was fine until the upgrade to 29.0, running 31.0 now and it's still happening.
    It's always the same reason.

    Hi cheesso,
Sorry you are having problems. Obviously Firefox is not much good crashing like that all the time. Not sure if i can help but I will at least make a start with trying.
    * Do you notice any particular pattern ? <br /> Are you for instance seeeing crashes on a particular website or activity ?
*Are you able to let us have two or three crash IDs from when you crash whilst in Firefox's safe mode and with all plugins disabled please ?
We just need the ID including the leading '''bp-'''
    *e.g. <nowiki>bp-faccba9a-e27a-490d-aa12-529352140724</nowiki>
    * AFTER the post is previewed and posted the forum software converts it to a pair of links bp-faccba9a-e27a-490d-aa12-529352140724
If you need a temporary method of using Firefox with Verizon until this issue is resolved then; as a Windows user; consider installing and using as an additional browser the unofficial, third party build, of Firefox ESR portable
    * http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-esr <br /> You may wish to retain the installer for that in case this problem persists for a while. <br /> That may be installed without affecting your current Firefox install and should be safe and secure.
    * '''Are you able to confirm that installs & runs without any issues or crashes ?'''

  • IMac crashing randomly and slow boot time.

My mid 2011 27" 2.7GHz i5 iMac has been crashing/powering off to black screen randomly. Apple just replaced the logic board and power supply last week. I have not had any more crashes yet, but on startup I get a white screen that will last for 1 whole minute at times before I finally get the Apple logo to appear. Can someone please tell me about how long my boot time should be and what could be the problem. Also my Mac keeps not seeing my External Hard drive Time Machine Backup. It will be working fine and then act like the drive is not connected. This seems to have started after Apple replaced my logic board and power supply. This is my first Mac ever and Im starting to get really frustrated!

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

  • Firefox crashes at least 15-30 times a day, I can't pull up email or open anything on Adobe since I am using it. I need help. signed school teacher living in Firefox Pergatory

Ever since I am using Firefox, I am having NOTHING BUT TROUBLE with my computer crashing. I thought FF is supposed to speed things up. I can't open anything with Adobe, I can't play any Youtube, and I am miserable from the horrible experience I am having. The school district gave me the computer and it is now slow thanks to Firefox.
How do I uninstall it and just use regular internet?
    I am not very technical.
    Thank you.

please upgrade your browser to Firefox 8 and check

  • Safari crashes at least 2-3 times per day.

I have already tried resetting safari and it still continues to crash. I have searched thru the posts here but i have not really seen a solution. I think it could be a update i did for the O.S. maybe, it has been happening since i upgraded to Tiger but recently(in the last week) it is getting to be a problem. Any suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks...

    Hi Chris/Adam,
Can you confirm that by crashing you mean that Safari 'unexpectedly quits' rather than the whole computer freezing/crashing?
If that is the case, one quick test you can do to help narrow down things is browse with Safari in another user account. This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed)
Also, if you haven't already read this troubleshooting article, I recommend working through it and giving things a try:
    Safari unexpectedly quits

  • I keep getting "Unresponsive Script" errors in random "jsm" files several times a day. Why?

Several times a day I get "Unresponsive Script" popups as I browse the internet. They're almost always different. Sometimes its in tabbrowser, sometimes it has something to do with a YouTube page I have open, and sometimes it occurs when I try to save a file with the built-in download manager.
I don't know why it does this so often. I don't have many Addons.
I also copied the technical information about my browser to help out if it can identify why these Unresponsive Script Errors keep appearing.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />

  • Kernel Panic - my MacBook keeps crashing

    Hi, all:
I have been getting frequent (2-3 times a day) kernel panics. I'm relatively new to Macs; switched about a year ago... this reminds me of the dark side's dreaded Blue Screen of Death.
Here's what was on the most recent report. I note that SmithMicro's NetBlockade is listed in there, and I've figured out that the stuff at the end is all descriptive of my computer. Oh, and I do have Windows XP installed under Parallels.
If anyone can shed some light as to what I should try next, I'd be grateful.

  • Firefox crashes randomly on numerous webpages

Starting around the beginning of August my Firefox browser has been constantly crashing. It was around the same time that Firefox 6 came out, but it was also the same time that I upgraded my video card and memory. Microsoft Security Essentials was also constantly crashing starting around the same time, though not nearly as often as Firefox. I reinstalled Windows 7 because of the crashes, and the programs are still crashing. I also removed the new hardware and the issues still occurred. However, I did install nearly the same programs after reinstalling Windows, so I don't know what may be causing it. These are the only two programs that crash, that is why I don't believe it is a hardware issue.
Firefox crashes when I click on something, a link usually, however it will also crash in the middle of the night when I have it left open. It is not any particular page. Sometimes it will run for hours before crashing, other times it will crash several times in a row.
I have tried Firefox Safe Mode with all add-on's disabled and it still crashed repeatedly. The crash ID's included are from today.
Chrome works just fine for me, not a single crash, I'm pretty close to switching over, even though I like Firefox so much better. Please help me not do this!

Hmm...it's hard for me to surf without the Addons, since they are security/privacy Addons like NoScript.
    Anyway, the problem still persists:

  • Indesign CS5 Buggy Crashes Many times per day

I manage to crash CS5 at least 10 times per day. Cut and paste from one layter to another seems to do it alot. Running on a new Core I7 machine. Very disappointed. CS4 rarely crashed. Also I wish Adobe would focus on performace of their programs. CS5 has a few marginal things over 4 but to Adobe performance never seems to matter.
    Rob

There are quite a few document elements I've ran into that were valid in CS3 layouts that InDesign CS5 will not copy and paste. I've not ran into any elements created in CS5 that didn't copy and paste expected.
Generally I've found it to be elements that were never meant to be text frames that have been converted to text frames via the text tool click to create frame option. It's mostly when elements that should have been type on path through that tool being created as a frame.
Also, though this forum occasionally has some venting is generally support oriented. This late into CS5 most people aren't really concerned with the relative displeasure of new users. Getting used to it is the best way and someone may come along with the link to the feature request for to vote for what you want to see. I'll sympathize that things aren't going to get better and performance is likely to continue to degrade, that much of the new stuff is designed for next generation hardware and won't perform even on great hardware now, such as live screen drawing and not making me swear with files that used to not make me swear (particularly EPS which although I know is dead is very much alive in the history of a 20+ year old art departments past files).

  • Kernel Panic and Application Crashes when Accessing a Folder

    Hi,
I originally posted in the iTunes forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=252516&tstart=75) with this problem as it was in iTunes where I first noted the issue. However since then I have discovered it is a system wide issue.
Everytime I try to access a specific folder, my iTunes Music folder, whichever application is accessing it will crash. Finder crashes when trying to view the folder, and other apps will crash when trying to open from or save to that folder. There will be no crash reporter when they crash either. I have also experienced two kernel panics, one when iTunes was playing, and another when Tech Tools Pro was doing its surface scan. The folder is on one of my two FW800 connected external hard drives. The kernel panic looks like this:
    panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002478C8): hfs: block mark free: trying to free non-existent blocks (-1094886590 -1078469906 39039948)

I am not entirely sure as to what this means or how to deal with it. I am able to access the folder via terminal, but there are 2700 folders within my iTunes Music folder and 23137 songs, so it could take me a very long time to find the exact file or folder which is causing me problems. I could potentially have enough disk space should a backup be required but it would be backed up to 3 different drives and would be close. That is assuming of course that I would not experience the same panic when accessing the area. Can anyone help me with this?
    Powerbook G4 1.25Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    The first phase:
Since the Kernel Panic is temporarily a state of suspended animation because of a safe-boot solution, try the next step. This is a pre-caution to avoid any failures during ongoing troubleshooting.
After safe-boot, launch System Profiler and select /Software/Extensions/ directory in Contents (on the left column ) menu. Next, open /System/Library/Extensions/ folder by Go to Folder command or by manual. Compare the both contents. You'll see System Profiler shows less kernel extensions than /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. There are ".kext" files that are not shown in the loaded Extensions directory. If there is a most suspect third-party extension (perhaps FireWire's driver), try removing out of the folder to a temporary made folder on the desktop-- you may be prompted the admin or login password.
    The second phase:
TechTool Pro fixed a file structure error in one file on the main drive, and some bad custom icons or bad bundle bits error now lie on on the main and one of your secondary drives, but not the previous problems. Also, you still cannot access that folder, however folders within that folder you can get to just fine, via the Go To Folder command or reveal in finder from iTunes.
Those symptoms appear to suggest that some directories structure and the volume information other than the main drive have lost their consistencies and a directory may be no longer accessible for some reason which happened before or during the Kernel Panic. Techtool Pro 4.0.6 seems to not be able to fix those problems. So if you have DiskWarrior 3.0.3, run it and hopefully fix them. If you do not have it, try the followings.
Connect the external FireWire drive in question, then boot into a Safe-mode. If this does not work well, first boot into a Safe-mode then connect the device.
Launch Terminal utility. Type diskutil list at the prompt. Here is an example to be displayed:
    MyMachine:~ Myself$ diskutil list
    /dev/disk0
    #: type name size identifier
    0: Applepartitionscheme *233.8 GB disk0
    1: Applepartitionmap 31.5 KB disk0s1
    2: Apple_HFS MacOSX_HD 70.7 GB disk0s3
    3: Apple_HFS Data_HD 162.8 GB disk0s5
    /dev/disk1
    #: type name size identifier
    0: Applepartitionscheme *111.8 GB disk1
    1: Applepartitionmap 31.5 KB disk1s1
    2: Apple_HFS Data21HD 69.9 GB disk1s3
    3: Apple_HFS Debugger_HD 41.6 GB disk1s5
Find the disk identifier that points the external device in question. Type sudo fsck_hfs -fy /dev/disk1s3 if the target drive would be disk1s3. If the result shows you like below, the symptoms may be fixed.
    MyMachine:~ Myself$ sudo fsck_hfs -fy /dev/disk1s3
    ** /dev/rdisk1s3
    ** Checking HFS Plus volume.
    ** Checking Extents Overflow file.
    ** Checking Catalog file.
    ** Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    ** Checking Extended Attributes file.
    ** Checking volume bitmap.
    ** Checking volume information.
** The volume Data21HD appears to be OK.
If the above solution fails, boot into a Single-user-mode and perform the same way as above-- a "sudo" parameter MIGHT not be needed to type.
    The third phase:
Start up from Mac OS X 10.4.x Install disc. Launch Disk Utility program. Try repairing the target volume(s) on the external device and then repair the permissions.
If the above solution fails to fix all filesystem problems on that volume, then you may need to abandon hope some file or folder in question to trash it/them. Of course, I do not hope so.…
Also, when I booted into Safe Mode it started up the volume menubar item as usual but I had no sound... Is this normal during a Safe boot?
Certain Mac OS X features do not work when you are started up in Safe Mode. For example, you can't use DVD Player, capture video in iMovie, use an AirPort card, use audio input or output devices, or use an internal or external USB modem.
So it should be no problem on this matter.

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 Crashing multiple times per day

    Hi All,
Can someone please help me with this.
Dreamweaver has been crashing about 1 or 2 times a day and I can't pinpoint why. This debilitating my working day. I've never has problems like this with the CS5 version.
I am runing Dreamweaver CS5.5 as a part of the masters collection. reciently purchased from the adobe site. and have updated fully post install.
    setup:
    macbook pro 15"
    Os X 10.6.8
    8g ram
    132gb free harddrive space.
I've submitted crash reports every time it has happened with comments and my email and no one at adobe has contacted me whatsoever. This crash report system is starting to feel rather pointless.
I don't know what else to include, but if you have questions just ask.
    thanks!

NYTimes app is crash-prone for me too, even after the latest update to it and also updating my iPhone to 2.1. I had thought/hoped the crashes and slow updating of content on it were due to me being a long way from their content servers (as I am normally in Australia), but I have been in New York for the last couple of weeks and had the same issue there, even using the (quite fast) wifi in the Apple Store there.
Something I have noticed with the crash reports from NYTimes (which I have looked at on my iMac after they have been submitted to Apple by the sync process) is that in every one I have looked at, the memory usage by NYTimes at the time of the crash seems relatively big, so perhaps some data structure within it is running it out of room or overwriting part of itself during the updating - invariably my NYTimes crashes are during its (lengthy) updating.
Safari has always been pretty stable for me, but my browsing on my iPhone is fairly unadventurous (ie just a common set of sites I can check quickly every day); I read a lot more content on there via the NetNewsWire RSS reader (which syncs with my Mac) rather than really "surfing" a lot with Safari.
I'm afraid I've never used the Pandora Radio app (it isn't available in the Australian app store as far as I know). I did buy the "Tuner" application by Nullsoft though, and that works reliably for me.
