OS X 10.8 does not connect Canon Networkprinter LBP5050n

Question

I have a new iMac 27"  (i7, SSD, HD; 16 G). I started from a clean system disk, no migration of programs. I downloaded from Canon UK the newest CAPT V355 Drivers which are claimed to work with OS X 10.8. I installed the printer, consulting "Registering_OS_XLion_en_uk:R.pdf"; it worked with USB, but I cannot get it working as network printer from my iMac, however, it did work as Network Printer from another iMac 24 (Intel Core Duo), where I trashed all traces from earlier drivers and loaded CAPT V355 Drivers as recommended.
I get two error messages: the first one is also shown in the "Registering....pdf", there it was said that this message can be ignored. The second one is from the CAPT Statusmonitor, after trying to print a file:  it claims a "Network Board Error" - "The network cable is not connected, or the printer is not turned on...""Current Print Job - Dokument Name: Configdatei, User Name, Computer Name). It is unlikely to blame the cable, as with the same cable I printed via the airport from the other iMac with no problem. I changed the network cable: same message.
I trashed and reloaded the printer several times, changing the sequence USB/IP, also trying other IP addresses. To no avail.
I checked with the "terminal.app" and the command "ping -c 4 192.168.0.215". Result: 4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0.0% packet loss. As recommended in the package "GUIDE-CAPT-UK" (associated documents in the CAPT V355 download).
Checking as suggested in other discussions I checked "Aktivitätsanzeige" (Monitor): the CANON CAPT Backgrounder is working.
I am getting sick about Apple changing important procedures after almost any system update. I already gave away an HP Color Laser, after Apple provided the driver instead of HP (change from Leopard to Snow Leopard!) . After this, the printer wasted toner, printing far too dark and no chance to correct that in the printing dialog. In the early days of Apple, you connect a device to the Mac and it was working. Now you waste endless hours, you follow dozens of hints and recommendations. Most people do not even understand some of the technical slang necessary for a printer installation. That does not follow the old Apple philosophy.

Factory reset is not the same as standard reset.
Please do plug the TC into the computer.. and do a factory reset..
Turn off wireless and leave out all other connections.
6.2 utility has nothing to do with it.
Make sure you get an IP from the TC.. if not the ethernet cable is plugged into wrong port.. use LAN on the TC.. or is dead.. is it a Gen3.. the wireless can work but not ethernet which fails.
Tell me exactly what version of TC it is.. A1xxx from the rubber mat.
Load 5.6 utility into Mountain Lion. it is far superior to any v6 utility.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
2. Download and install unpkg.

Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.
