OS X 10.9 reinstalling stuck at "24 minutes left"

I was going to clean reinstall Mac OS X. I was running on Yosemite, but for some reason "Mac OS X Utilities" were on Mavericks. I didn't really pay any attention to it, I could freely download 10.10 after the installation.
Anyway, after erasing my drive I started the installation. At first everything went well, but when the status bar was 95% full the text on bottom of it switched from "1 minute" to "24 minutes left" and got stuck. I googled it (as always) and found the only correct solution - waiting. So, I waited, checking the logs at the same time. At first it was pretty alive, but then it also got stuck. Now it's almost 4 Hours of installation (my DL speed is 30 Mb/sec btw) and logs do not update for 3 Hours already!
Obviously, I can't post all the logs, but here are some of the last entries:

This were the last entries in the log. According to the installers time, it's 10:41 now. Surprisingly the logs stopped to update after I send the log summary to Apple. I didn't find anything in the web, so please tell me how to solve the problem without ruining my hard drive completely.

update - the bar just jumped up to maybe 10% or so...but now the progress bar says 17 hours.. any thoughts?

I have rented a movie via apple tv and it gets stuck at 4 minutes left to download. I have not been able to watch and I can't get it to completely download.

You've tried restarting the film ? If it still skips then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

• Reinstalling 10.5.6 has been stuck with one minute left.

Trying to reinstall and for 20 minutes has said one minute remaining.
Should I quit and try again, or will it eventually finish?
What to do?
Thnx.

Try using a Target Disk Mode to reinstall Leopard. Which disc are you using for the install? Is it a retail (black disc) or an install disc that came with the machine you are trying to install it on?

• Mountain Lion Installation stuck at 21 Minutes Left

Late 2008 iMac. It has been stuck for about an hour now at 21 minutes remaining. The computer just had a new hard drive put in 2 weeks ago, and I can't imagine what is wrong. Should I try a force restart? I'm just worried that I'll erase all of the data on the computer, so what is my best option?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The only thing you can do is to restart the Mac holding the Power button. Then, start it and see if you can install Mountain Lion.
If not, hold Command and R keys while your iMac is starting to start in OS X Recovery and reinstall OS X. You should have a backup of your files

• Downloading the 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 and it seems stuck at "registering updated components". It's running but I've had "about a minute" left for 30 minutes now

Trying to download the 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 and it seems stuck at "Registering updated components". It's been saying it has "about a minute" left for at least a half hour. What do I do?

Try downloading it from the Apple site. Set Safari to download to the desk top:Safari preferences>general>save downloads to desktop. Download to desktop, and run the installer:

What version of iPhoto?
Are these photos different in any way? Black and White, for instance?

• My iMac keeps on losing internet connection. Webpages get stuck after a minute or so. If I check the internet connection via diagnostics it seems to work just fine. Others, like the iPad use the same wifi connection and never fail. What can I do?

Running 10.6.8 on Intel dual core iMac, it keeps on losing internet connection. Webpages get stuck after a minute or so. If I check the internet connection via diagnostics it seems to work just fine. Others, like the iPad use the same wifi connection and never fail. What can I do?

Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
Good Luck - Cheers,
M.

• I replaced my hard drive and am installing the OS 10.5.6 that i got from Apple. It is stuck with 7 minutes remaining. Help! this is the first time I've ever done this.

I just replaced my hard drive in my 13" Macbook. I got the OS install disk from Apple but it's stuck with 7 minutes remaining. What do I do now? I let it check the disk before the install.

Did you properly prep your new drive first?
Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the OS X installation.
I think you should shutdown the installer then erase the drive per the above and start again.

• Yosemite upgrade stuck at x minutes for 10+ hours

Hi,
This is for the 6th time I am trying to upgrade.
It was a terrible idea, never faced it in my happy 10 years using a mac.
I wanted to upgrade it, it downloaded and now trying to upgrade for 14 hours straight.
The machine is running from last 40 hours, it is a Mid 2010 macbook pro.
Simply it is stuck at 4 minutes ( this is new, earlier it stuck at 3 minutes for 6 hours ) and log quota exceeded.
Please help.
Yes, I have tex, homebrew all these sort of stuff installed.
I promise never to upgrade to a free OS ( unless it is my kubuntu from where Iam typing it in ) again.
But for this time please help.
I have upgraded 4 times on different macs, never ever had this much trouble.
When it would end?

I finally decided that enough it enough, and cleaned the disk drive and installed Mac OS X.
I could back up data, and that was good enough for me.
Everything is fine.
I suggest anyone facing the issue should do the same.

• When downloading newest software update getting 'stuck' at 36 minutes.

Hi,
I got an Ipad 2 weeks ago.. and when I plug it in to my PC with Itunes running it tells me that there is new software avaliable for the Ipad.
When I attempt to download it it tells me it will be 57-59 minutes etc. (Fluctuates!) then it gets stuck at 36 minutes and says it can't complete the download.
I have the newest version of itunes and am keen to get this fixed so I can set up Icloud on all my devices.
Anyone else having this issue or can offer me some assistance?
Thanks
Laura

Try temporarily disabling firewall and antivirus.

Running Photoshop CC on iMac w/ 2 monitors. The black application background is stuck to the top left between the 2 monitors, tried resetting workspaces, new workspaces... no joy. I'd just as soon eliminate it as its always in the way. thanks

alright. reformat, no longer have and fan-controlling software running, SMC reset, software update, etc. New, precise test using System Load to add a load to the cpu, Hardware Monitor for the temperatures, and TFMonitor for fan speeds. Running both CPUs at 99.5%*, the CPU fan sped up to just over 1500 rpm (HDD and ODD fans stayed relatively the same), from its resting 1198, with the temperatures maxing out at:
PSU: 176°F (80°C)
CPU Core 1: 164°F (74°C)
CPU Core 2: 171°F (77°C)
System Load and Hardware Monitor (or Temperature monitor) are from: http://ciderhouse.ivory.ne.jp/wp/english/
and TF monitor is from: http://ciderhouse.ivory.ne.jp/wp/english/
Now, to someone with more experience than I, are these numbers within reasonable operating range? And if the CPU fan can go as high as 3300 rpm, why would it not go any higher than half that? (smcFanControl reported 3300 as the max before I reformatted, but after reformatting I can't seem to get it to work)
It just doesn't make sense to me. ....and I'm not fond of the heat radiating off the monitor...
*I tested it up at almost 100% because with the work I do, I often do run around there. From time to time I do 3D renders and video work, and Photoshop almost never closes on my computer.
