OS X.4 Clients didn't update it's date & time when using OS X.5 NTP Server

Yesterday, I posted the problem we are having with the X.4 Clients that do not update their time & Date from the X.5 Leopard Server. We just installed and setup the file sharing part of our Mac OS X Server 10.5 Leopard on a PowerMac G5 and is working fine so far. Now I'm trying to setup the clients to synchronize their time with the server. I followed the instructions in the Network Services Admin paper, including the Enable Network Time Server (NTP) in the General Tab of the Server Admin program and pointing the clients to the network ip address of the server. It doesn't work. Yesterday, I thought that it was because i tried to do it after the start up and they were already synchronized, but today after a cold start today, still nothing happened. Probably it's because the server is not connected to the internet and we are updating the time on the server manually, it is connected to the LAN using a fixed IP Address entered manually. This work for the File Sharing but apparently not for NTP. It is a problem for us cause we have time dependent applications running. Any help will be greatly appreciatted.

I have a question that I had not found an answer to yet. I would like to use the OS X caching server, and I know that it caches a software update as soon as the first computer downloads it. If an application requires authentication using an Apple ID, and the first computer authenticates and downloads that update, do the rest of the computers have to authenticate as well, even though the update is downloaded from the caching server?
I am looking for a solution in that regard. For the company that I work, I would like a solution for users to be able to download software updates (OS or Application), without having to authenticate with the company Apple ID, for security reasons.

Yes. You still need to authenticate on the subsequent machines if you are interactively applying the updates. Caching server stores the application data, not the App Store authorization information.
You have some alternatives.
1: If you are using a single "corporate" Apple ID to claim your free apps (iMovie, iPhoto, etc), then you can download them on your master machine and then user ARD, JAMF, or other tool to push the full application packages out to all the clients. They will already be tagged to the Apple ID and since the push is happening in the background, as long as the user is not using the application, they will not know you are updating. Remember, App Store updates are the entire application, not update packages. So pushing the entire .app bundle is effective.
2: If you are looking to distribute purchased apps, you really should look at the VPP (volume purchase plan) from Apple (http://www.apple.com/business/vpp/) (there is also one for education but you mentioned company). This allows you as the organization to purchase the correct number of copies and then control the distribution of the apps to your end users. They can use their own Apple ID to claim the apps but you can reclaim the license should the user leave the organization.

Hi I can't update my apps when I try to update it asks for password when used it goes back to update. I think I'm not alone and have tried changing date switching off signing out and in and rebooting. Is there a solution or do I need to take it in?

I can't update my apps each time it asks for password when entered it goes straight back to update. I don't think I am alone in this. I have tried changing the date, rebooting, switching off and on signing out and nothing works. Does anyone know of a solution or will I have to take it to an apple shop. My misses has no trouble with her updates, they are both on iOS 6. Hope someone can help.

MBAM "Enterprise Compliance Report" not updating "Last Contact" date/time for any/all systems.

Running BitLocker/MBAM 1.0.1237.1.
About 1 month ago, "Last Contact" date/time listed in MBAM "Enterprise Compliance Report" stopped updating (last updated 1 month ago) for all systems. However, reporting against these exact same systems individually via
"Computer Compliance Report" shows current/correct "Last Contact" date/time (last updated today).
Have tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2620269/en-us but no luck.
Hoping someone has experienced this before, fixed, and can share insights.

EXIT_SAPMF02K_001: Update customer on the time when vendor adress data chan

I want to update the adress data of a assign customer, if someone changed adress data in vendor master.
For this proposal I use the exit: EXIT_SAPMF02K_001
But my issue is now: Where can I get the temp data. Means where in which structure can I see the new data.
In the exit itself I have I_lfa1 and some other importing parameters, but this structure dont't have the new data.
Does anyone have an idea?

Devtools update causes problems with sudo when used in a script?

I'm a little confused by this one, but I'm not convinced that it's a bug.. yet.
Long story short, I compile packages using the ABS via a script/wrapper which uses devtools. The script is available here: https://github.com/WorMzy/compilepackage
Now, this script is far from perfect, but has worked perfectly well (in various states of completeness) for the past year or so. However, with the recent update of devtools (20120720-1 => 20121013-1), my script fails to execute correctly. After entering the password when prompted (by sudo, at this line: https://github.com/WorMzy/compilepackag … tions#L107), the script terminates unexpectedly.
Downgrading devtools "fixes" this problem, but I'm not sure if this is a bug in devtools, sudo, zsh, my script, or something else.

Update: It appears that the cause is systemd's nspawn. Disabling it in mkarchroot (have_nspawn=0) resolves the problem.
However, I don't understand why it's causing this behaviour. User input works fine for the sudo password prompt, but then fails for the pacman user prompt? Do they use different input buffers or something? Does that question even make sense?
Anyway, I'll open a bug report on flyspray and upstream about this when I get the chance.

How to update master pay data in HR using ABAP

Hi,
My requirement is that I need to update the master pay data for all the employees. The pay scale has been revised and so the pay scale needs to be changed. This means that the configuration needs to be done.
Once this config is done, the pay scale master data for all the existing employees also needs to be updated.
Can anyone please tell me where all do I need to go and make the changes? I have got this confrmed that PA0008 (Infotype for Basic Pay) does not have to be changed. So, where else do I need to make changes so that, this change reflects in the existing employees data going forward. The amout of salary needs t be changed.
Does this change requires a change in any infoype data or do we need to change the data of some transaction.
Please help as soon as possible as this is very important.

Hi Namrata,
It is not advisable to change te pay data using ABAP coding. It should be done from functional side.
To updat the master pay data just go to PA30, enter the employee number and select the infotype 8 (Basic Pay). Once in change mode you can update the data.

[Solved] glibc-Update-fail and broken system when using custom kernel

I had a similar issue with the glibc-update as described in several threads.
I guess, the reason why I ran into the problem was that I'm using a custom-built kernel. So the kernel modules (drivers etc.) under /lib/modules/custom-kernel/ are owned by no pacman package.
At my system, after upgrating via
# pacman -Syu --ignore glibc
# pacman -Su
The upgrade failed and /lib/modules/ and the files, owned by the glibc-package remained at the still existing directory /lib.
Rebooting the computer in this situation causes a sytem freeze.
Now, here is my sucessful repair, briefly described. Maybe it will help someone:
1. Booting the computer with the Arch Linux net Install image
2. mounting my root partition manually at /mnt
3. performing the following commands:
# cd /mnt
# cp -ar lib/* usr/lib/
# rm -rf lib
# ln -s usr/lib lib
7. removing net install image and rebooting the computer
==> the system works again, but:
# pacman -Su
still produces error messages like:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
glibc: /lib exists in filesystem
glibc: /usr/lib/ld-2.16.so exists in filesystem
glibc: /usr/lib/ld-linux.so.2 exists in filesystem
glibc: /usr/lib/libBrokenLocale-2.16.so exists in filesystem
glibc: /usr/lib/libBrokenLocale.so.1 exists in filesystem
Now at the last step I did is, what the wiki is seriosly discouraging from I use --force:
# pacman -f -Su
After that my system was repaired
I think using force at that point is OK, because the files will only be replaced which are already moved to the right location.

If you use a custom-built kernel you should really package it up so you can easily avoid this sort of thing just by repackaging.

How to update around 12 lac record when using co-related update

You can rewrite it using a merge statement, to prevent starting that subquery numerous times.

N95 CANNOT UPDATE TO VERSION 30 ERROR WHEN USING N...

Firstly i have bought a N95 with version 10 on and my product code is 0535053 which says i can update to
30.0.015
It was on 02 but seems unlocked as i have used it abroad with different sims
I am currently in Thailand although it a u.k phone and have tried everything to sort this out
I have un-installed all nokia programs -re-installed and still it fails to complete
I have the latest NSU but do not see the amount of time to complete just the amount of data sent and it gets about 50% of the way and then i get the failed message and do i want to retry
Please help as i think the phone is great but is it much much better with version 30?

Hi,
As per my understanding, you are passing many values at a time to be updated using varchar_array_type type. In such scenario if your User_no is 100,101,102 all are being looped and the table is updated. But where are you checking the updated field or on what bases you will come to know that this particular field is updated.
I will suggest you to use before update triggers. As in triggers you can check the rows old and new value and then set sysdate for modified_date column.
Something like this,

Since updating ITunes sofwr some time ago, Used to be able to go to ,"File", "Get Info" and dragdrop my picture into the artwork box,click OK.No longer!Won't save/displayWHY?

Since updating my Itunes software some time ago, I've not been able to add my own artwork,ie album covers, to my own personal albums.Used to be able to go to "File," "Get Info" and drag/drop my photo into the artwork box, hit save/OK and Voila! No longer and it's Really frustrating. It will let me drag it there but it
won't save it or display it. (Why they go and break somethin' that was working fine?....just an aside) What must one do now to display their own artwork for albums that are non purchasable online?

The artwork is stoed in the Artwork tag field.
Since WAV files do not have tags, there is no where to store the tags.
If you use iTunes to get artwork for WAV files, it puts themn into the AlbumArt folder adn links it to the correct files via the iTunes library.itl file.
All other formats (MP3, AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless) have na artwork tag to store the artwork in the media file itself.

Update file date/time stamp using java

Let me explain you what I am going through:-
I have created a java based installer using Jexpress tool and after I do the installation of my files, the files takes the current date rather then taking the date when it was created or modified.
Everything goes into JAR and I heard that Jar file do not retain the date/time stamp of the file.
I would like to know if we can change the date and time stamp of the files using Java.
Is there any method to do that or can we do this by writing the java class?
