OS X and Windows partitions won't appear
I created a 60 gig partition for Windows 7 in boot camp a few weeks ago. Today, I decided to erase the Windows partition, split it in two, and install Windows 7 on one and Windows XP on the other. Windows XP installed fine, but now the other partitions won't show up in the boot screen, or in target disc mode. Are they just lost now?
Did you erase the partition with bootcamp before creating the other 2?

IMac screen colour, how to show tints and shades that won't appear
iMac screen colour, how do I show tints and shades that won't appear on screen
I have a 2 month old imac, with a great screen. But for some reason I cant se light shades of colour like 5% of a tint.
yet on older macs, and a 2 year old imac, i can see them prefectly.
Some designs have light panels with 5% colours, some a precent of a colour.
Can anyone suggest a way to calibrate the screen, or set the screen to show all the colours n tints used as accuratley as possible.
Advice much appreciatedThe fdisk output shows that it is a single GPT disk. Has any disk manipulation been done, like resizing or repartitioning.
Your GPT looks correct. If you create a Hybrid MBR via gdisk and include partitions 2,3 and 4 and make 4 bootable, does Windows partition show up in Startup and as a separate volume in Finder?
Please see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5641066 for Hybrid MBR creation. -
After Lion upgrade Windows partition won't mount
I have been running a partition for Windows, originally set up with Bootcamp and Windows SP using Parallels, for several years and generations of OS - Leopard and Snow Leopard without trouble. I just upgraded to Lion and now my Windows partition won't mount. I can see it in Disk Utility, but it is greyed out.
I have done several searches without finding a solution. There seems to be all sorts of advice. If I need to upgrade to Windows 7, fine. But how can I get the partition to mount? Does it have to do with Lion writing a recovery partition that breaks the partitioning I had? Is it an NTFS issue, whatever that is?
I would appreciate someone giving me some simple detailed steps to get my partition to mount, since I know nothing about Windows.
If I have to wipe the partition, buy Windows 7 and install it, OK. But I don't want to wipe the whole drive and my Mac side. Does Lion even need Bootcamp anymore? You can see I'm totally confused. I just need to get my Windows partition back and running through Parallels.
Thanks.Never a good idea to go for years with the same drive and new OS generations and not reformat to implement new changes in partitioning.
ALWAYS clone your system(s) before an upgrade.
Installing Lion on an external hard drive would have saved you.
Windows is now +1 partition ID.
Windows 8 RC will be out in a couple weeks for public for free.
Asked on Parallels community....
Do you have latest Lion version of Parallels?
Try editing BCD with Windows DVD/CD.
No it is not an NTFS issue.
Lion added a new recovery partition that bumped Windows from #N to N + 1 is all.
Apple's GPT changed a number of times since 10.5.x too.
Bad sectors that occur on a drive can't be mapped out if they are part of the hidden partitions or without losing data (usually) and Lion uses and insures that features that were 'optional' or "for future use" were implemented and changed.
Windows SP sounds like Windows 7 SP1 or in your case I guess XP SP3 but isn't clear until you get to "upgrade to Wiindows 7" and yes I would upgrade to Windows 8 RC (free) or 7 64-bit System Builder ($99). -
I want to have an exFAT parition in addition to the Mac OS X and Windows partition. If I create it before running BootCamp, BootCamp wants me to delete it before continuing. If I create it in either Windows or Mac OS X after running BootCamp and installing both OSes, I can no longer dual boot. What is the magic sequence to get this to work?
I've got the same quandary.
After upgrading my hard drive to a Momentus XT Hybrid and doing a clean install of Mountain Lion, I was surprised that I couldn't format partitions separately and then restore from my clone of the old Windows 7 Partition. I found that I had to use the BootCamp Assistant to manage it all, which essentially meant getting rid of the partitions and starting again...
I now can't get my Windows / BootCamp partition to boot, after adding a 3rd, ExFat, partition, when it was working perfectly fine before. I just get a lot of dos booting failures and a final message that "No boot device is available, press Enter to continue".
See the attached message, that I get when trying to boot the bootcamp partition, through Parallels 7; which also worked perfectly fine before.
Be good to know if there is a work around this in Mountain Lion as, if not, I'm thinking I might skip Bootcamp altogether and just install a machine drive via Parallels. As suggested here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1420754
I might even keep the virtual windows machine on a separate hard drive and then I'll have no need for the ExFat partitions altogether as that was designated for sharing between Windows and Mac. -
How to increase Boot Camp partition without harming both Mac and Windows partition
Hello Apple Support Communities.
I have made a Boot Camp partition with my Mac partition, but the problem is that I am running out of space on my Windows partition. (Darn you, Steam Summer Sale! )
Anyways, is there any way to increase the space on my Windows partition without harming both Mac and Windows partitions. I would prefer if I didn't need to delete the Windows Partition and do everything all over again, as I need to download and set up everything all over again. I also know that changing the Windows partition is a tricky and hard thing, and one step can harm my whole computer, but I think that it is worth the risk.
I really don't care how to do it, anything, from a bootable program, to anything. I just want to know how to do it.
So is there any way that I can increase the Windows partition of my Mac without harming both Mac and Windows partitions? Thanks. This cannot be done using Boot Camp Assistant. But, you can try using Paragon Camptune X for Mac® – How it works.

Hello,
I've recently purchased the latest generation MacBook with a 4th generation iPod Nano. A couple of weeks ago I had my iPod connected to the MacBook while it was running Boot Camp (on Windows XP Service Pack 2) and soon after this I noticed that my iPod said that it had no songs. I opened iTunes (on the Mac partition) to find that all the data that was once songs is now listed as "Other". After no luck with getting it to work, I chose to restore the iPod back to factory settings, but the problem still persisted. Whenever I added a song to the iPod, it would show up in iTunes on the iPod as a song, but as soon as I disconnected, the iPod would say that it had no songs, and when I reconnected, iTunes couldn't detect any songs on it.
Since then, I have tried reverting iTunes to an earlier version (as I installed iTunes 8.1 around the same time as this and thought that this may have been the problem), restoring the iPod multiple times, and eventually used Disk Utility to erase the iPod to see if that would help. I've also been looking on many forums where users have had some similar problems and tried their fixes, but none have worked.
I came across this article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493) today which suggested changing the Drive Letter on the Windows side, which I did and changed the iPod from 'E' to 'I', and then my flash drive which was listed as the 'G' drive is no longer detected on either the Mac or Windows partition. I also ran a "Hotfix" .exe file from the Microsoft site that the support article was linking to, which didn't appear to help either. As far as I know, there is no other device that has an 'I' Drive letter (sorry I don't know much about Windows as I've been using Mac all my life).
So if someone could help me out or point me to a relevant link, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks very much...Anyone have any ideas at all?

Windows Partition Won't Mount in OS X
Hi,
I just used Boot Camp to install Windows. I had Windows XP installed on my MacBook Pro awhile ago, but after I got it back from a hard drive repair I didn't put Windows back on. I recently downloaded the Windows 7 RC from Microsoft's site and used boot camp to install it. The install seemed to go fine, and I was in Windows setting up stuff for awhile. When I booted back into OS X, my Windows partition would not show up on the desktop, and would not appear in the Startup Disk preference. In Disk Utility, it shows up as grayed out with the generic name "disk0s3". When you try to mount it from there, it gives the error "The disk "disk0s3" could not be mounted. Try running First Aid on the disk and then retry mounting." Since I formatted it as NTFS (no other choice for Windows 7), I can't do a verify or repair on the disk.
Going into Terminal and doing a "diskutil list", I see the 50 GB windows partition labeled as "Microsoft Basic Data." I've been looking around for a fix but can't find anything. Many people were complaining about this issue on these discussion boards back in 2007 but there was no real solution found.
While I can still boot into Windows by restarting and holding option, it's very frustrating to not see the disk in OS X. Does anyone have a permanent fix for this? I know it can't just be something with Windows 7 because people were having this issue years ago. Could really use some help with this. Although I don't really have anything installed beyond Safari, Firefox, iTunes etc it would just be a hassle to have to reinstall, and it may end up doing the same thing.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
AdamAlright, well I finally made progress! I had heard from other people who had this issue that installing NTFS-3G and MacFUSE didn't help, so I didn't bother before. However, I tried it just for the **** of it, and it definitely improved things. When I first restarted after installing both NTFS-3G and MacFUSE, I got a message saying that the Windows partition was unmounted "uncleanly" or something to that effect. I was given two options: to Ignore, or to Force the partition to mount. When I chose Force, it actually mounted successfully. The name on the partition was for some reason "Untitled", even though when I boot while holding option it shows the partition as "Windows". But it mounted fine, and I could write to it. I booted back into Windows, and found that under Windows the drive was also unnamed. So I named it Windows, went back into OS X and the name stuck.
The only remaining issue is that OS X still doesn't recognize it as a startup volume in the Startup Disk system preference. So in order to boot into Windows, I still need to restart with option held down; however, that's not a major issue. I was mainly concerned with being able to see files on the Windows 7 partition and transfer files from OS X to Windows and vice versa. So I'm basically happy, although I'd still be a bit happier if Startup Disk would see it as a bootable volume.
I'd still be interested to hear any other thoughts about this issue. It must be a known issue by now, since there was a very similar thread about this back in 2007, and still not fixed in Leopard seemingly. If anyone knows what may have caused this issue, or how one would have gone about fixing it without installing ntfs-3g/MacFUSE, I'd be interested. Still hoping the issue will be fixed under Snow Leopard.

HP LaserJet M1005 MFP and Windows 7 - Won't Install
I have just acquired an HP Notebook which connects well to an old HP LaserJet 6L as a local printer, but it won't connect to the HP LaserJet M1005 MFP. It does not find drivers when it searches on the net, and the drivers won't install from the CD which came with the printer either - it just hangs after a while.
I read some posts from other people who also have related problems. Can anybody help please? The Windows 7 32-bit Print/Scan driver software can be found here <http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1839459&...>.

You are correct though, the installer on the CD does not support Windows 7 and there are no driver in Windows 7 or in Windows Update for this product. Hope this helps. -
My window partition no longer work. Please help me.
In short, I cannot see it in startup disk but I can see it in disk utility.
Here is output from commands asked from other relate posts.
Many important project in that partition!
Thank you in advance!

Bootcamp partition has disappeared after upgrade to Yosemite 10.10
For me, I did quick search (test disk) on /dev/disk0
and I found a partition that store all my window files.
So I use that partition start/end sector to config GPT and MBR.
After reboot, check in disk util that the partition is mounted and detect as bootcamp.
Check hex dump for R.NTFS string.
Reboot again with "option" button down and boot window
Thanks Loner T for all the help!
You must be exhaust with this issue.
Hope Apple give out a new patch with this fix or automatic quick fix solution. -
Time machine and Windows Partition
Will Time Machine backup my windows/Boot Camp partition?
kenjf wrote:

Welcome to the Apple forum.
Fusion is something quite different from BootCamp. Naturally fusion or VPC or any other virtual system will be backed up along with Leopard, We are talking about a separate OS in its own partition, and the answer as already noted is no, TM will not backup the Windows partition. -
IMac running slow and windows partition not showing
I have an iMac 12.1, 2.5 ghz, i5, 4 gb ram, 500 gb hd (41 gb used) running 10.7.4. We installed windows parallel and windows 7 about three months ago. We rarely used windows and now windows doesn't work, although the icons are there. I tried to uninstall via boot camp and the partition does not show. The iMac is now running extremely slow except when running in safe mode.
How can I delete or reinstall windows and speed up the iMac?
Thank youOpen Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when you try to launch Parrallels Desktop.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitiion & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Permissions. -
Songs inside disappeared and the iPod won't appear on iTunes & Windows!
Well, the iPod started showing this icon with a folder and an exclamation mark, so I reset it a few times. Prior to that, some of the songs didn't play properly. This hasn't happened before though.
So I connected it to the computer and reset it but nothing seemed to happened. I tried putting it on Disk Mode but still, same results. What's worse is that it wouldn't even appear on iTunes and My Computer anymore. Even if it does to the latter, the window just freezes when I try to access the drive.
Then I unplugged it and found that all of the songs disappeared! I then checked the memory available and it showed that I only had 492 MB / 18.5 GB available. What the **** is happening here?
I'm using the old-school iPod. With non-color LCD display, 20 GB. I have yet to try installing the new version of iTunes (but other than that, what can other ways can you folks recommend me?).
Can anyone help me out? My head's starting to spin already. :[
If I am in the wrong portion of the forum, just tell me so. I'm kind of new here and don't have the time to browse each section thoroughly. D:Have a look at this post.

I am using the thunderbolt port with an adapter for hdmi connecting to a 42" RCA tv from my mid 2012 MacBook Pro 15". I have confirmed that the adapter and the hdmi cable are perfectly fine. I can only connect to a projector on the OS X 10.92 if I keep the displays separate. As soon as I try to use the mirror feature I lose the visual feed. Sound will still go through however.

I have paid for an album, and now it won't appear in my music.
I can confirm that the songs themselves will play in itunes. And the songs are definitely on my computer now. But for some reason, the album refuses to appear in my album list. Which is ridiculous. Even when I manually add the songs, the album, the artist, to my library. No dice. Pathetic. I want a refund.
I have attempted to move the files to my trash, and the iTunes store persists that they're still there. Having moved the files back into the music folder, and opening them from there, iTunes still won't show them. It's ridiculous that I should be paying for something that doesn't work. Particularly when I could have free access to it on Spotify with none of this hassle.

Setting up bootable mac partition and windows partition
I have a 250GB portable harddisk (USB 2.0 and Firewire connections available). I've allocated 150GB for a bootable OSX partition using firewire which works very well.
How can I use the remaining 100GB for backing up my Windows PC data?If I partition the portable harddisk as FAT32, then I cannot install OSX into that harddisk.
MacDrive is one possibility. The other solution is to get another portable harddisk for backing up my PC data. I was hoping to use one portable harddisk instead of two.
