OS X app FCE suddenly needs classic?
Having clicked on a very suspicious unmarked download on the internet (Clicking a thumbnail for a picture instead got something that downloaded and then tried to start setting up an unknown ISP.), I decided it would be safest to just wipe my hard drive to be sure I got rid of all the nasties it may have left and rebuild my system from the OS up, reimporting all my goodies from my backup.
When I went to install FCE 1, it refuses to install for want of a classic system. This is strange since the system requirements of FCE 1 call it a native OS X application.
What on Earth could be causing that?
Well, I could copy the installer from the CD to my desktop and install the software from there, then trash the copied installer, but to open the install from the CD, it just wanted to open in Classic, which I've opted not to install, and I would be shy about installing a native OS X app from an installer opened in Classic anyhow.
I've gone through a couple of system restores with this thing and this is the first time I've seen this problem. Strange days, indeed.

Thank you for the answers so far, but I'll make one correction: I said earlier that the Boston Globe website, boston.com, does not have a mobile site, and I would need to visit their regular website on my iPhone. Actually, I just found out that boston.com has a mobile site, so I'd obviously use that instead of the regular site. By doing that, I'd save a ton of data (I think). Does that change your answers?

Badly need help!!! installing an application that needs classic mode
i'm totally new with mac, got mine 3 weeks ago. . . i have this CD-ROM that i need to install but it says int the instruction that it needs classic mode to install. i've been reading the "classic mode" topic int the MAC HELP. . it says there that i can install the classic mode folder with the installer hardware test disc that comes with the mac, but it has two CDs, i don't know which is the hardware test disc. . .is it the disc 1 or disc 2??? and is there other way aside from this. . and another thing, i read something in the topic that i cannot use classic application in an intel-based comp, does that mean that theres no way i can install this application??

How do I delete partially installed apps. I erased iPad and installed iOS8. I installed new apps. Suddenly all paged populated with old apps that never install and I can not delete.
Hi Try a Reboot press power & menu button hold both down until you see the Apple Logo you will not lose any data But you me need to do this more than once. Cheers Brian

If you're being prompted that your payment information needs to be veriefied, then there is some aspect of your payment type which is being denied by your financial institution. I'd like you to please follow the steps below to verify your information.
Open iTunes. If you are signed in to iTunes, skip to step 4.
Note: Verify that you are signed in to the correct iTunes account. If you are unsure which account you're signed into, choose Store > Sign Out and proceed to step 2.
Choose Store > Sign In.
Enter your account name and password, then click the Sign In button.
Choose Store > View My Account.
Click the Edit Payment Information button.
In the Payment Method section, choose None.
Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.
Click the Edit Payment Information button again.
Enter your billing address exactly as it appears on your credit card statement.
Select your credit card type in the Payment Method section.
Enter your credit card information, your card's security code, and the expiration date.
Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorizations have the correct information on file.

How do I move a movie I have synced from iTunes into the "Movies" tab of the Video App? I need to access a slideshow I made in IMovies and may not have WiFi. I did it once, but can't figure out how to do it again! The file is an m4v. Thank you!
Im just guessing but it seems like you would have to get your movie into the correct folder on a computer then use iTunes to sync it to your iPad. If you've synced to a computer and have movies then on your computer should be a folder with the movie in it. You could export your iMovie to something like Dropbox then download from Dropbox to the folder you think it needs to be in the sync your iPad again. Again this is just a guess. Others may have a better answer.

I'm having a billing issue with my apple id. I got my first iPhone today and I've signe din etc however before i can download any apps etc i need to resolve an old payment apparently. The problem is i cant enter my new card details because the issue is registered to when i was in America and i require to pay the funds from an American source. Any ideas how i can resolve this? You can email Apple for help but the link is for the iTunes store not the Mac App Store. You've inadvertently poasted in the Using Mac App Store forum but that's ok. Billing issues are the same for the iTunes Store.

I've used an external drive for time machine which has important files on it. After trying to back up my computer, it suddenly needed to be "repaired" by utilities. Now it's not being "seen" at all! How do I recover my important files off the drive?
If the external drive can be seen at all in Disk Utility, follow the instructions for repair here.
