There is only one thing that happens -- the Server does not respond.
Your mac concludes that you must have entered the wrong password. That may happen once, but then other issues become more likely, and it keeps asking for a new password.
Sometimes the Server is down for maintenance. Sometimes something is configured wrong. Some services do this on purpose to get you to use WebMail (pick up your Mail with your Browser) so they can show you some ads.

  • Why does Intel version always ask for my password when adding loops?

When I add loops to the PPC version, it never asks for my password. I want this behavior on the Intel version. Always asking for my password’s really annoying. Thanks very much. Peace.

Being able to to access, install and change anything on your computer with a simple keystroke is just not a good thing security wise. Maybe you don't download from unknown sources, use a wifi network, use public or work networks, IM, let others use your computer or let OS and software get out of date. But people reading this may not be in your situation. Most password hacking tools will start with single keystrokes and no password will gain access in a fraction of a second.

The iPad is designed to be a single user device, and there is currently no way to password protect the Mail app - even removing the account password from Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars will just prevent new mail being downloaded, it won't hide those that have already been downloaded. There is this work-around for the app : https://discussions.apple.com/message/13127632#13127632 . Also there might be third-party email apps that feature password protecting.

I have this same issue and I have tried doing as you suggested but it won't let me do that withought shutting off FIND MY IPHONE- but I can't turn it off without entering my old password for an old apple id. ....so thoughts?
You're saying this is happening on a Mac??  Find My iPhone is a feature of iOS devices, not Macs.  If you are trying to change the iCloud ID on an iOS device, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Device always asking for apple password b4 downloading apps

my device is always asking for apple store password even though I'm supposedly signed on. Is that normal?

That is normal, because it doesn't want somebody that may have stolen your device to go using your money on apps you don't want.

  • Always always always asking for wifi password!

Can anybody help me with my dilema, I've got 2 iPhones my iphone 4 connects everytime to my wifi without the need to input my wifi password, but on my 3GS every single time I go to use it on wifi it always ask for the wifi password! Any ideas would certainly help. Cheers!

Thanks. Also changed setup in airport utility by harmonizing all passwords.. Connected each airport device to the main router from the internet provider. Wifi works again and each airport device has internet.

  • Always asking for iTunes password

I have a new 3GS and often when I wake it up it will ask me for my iTunes password. I have entered it several times but it seems to keep happening.
Anyone else seeing this? Any possible fixes?
    Thanks

My iPhone (O2,3G) also asks for iTunes passwords when it should not, but only when accessing the App store. It did not initially do this under 2.2.1 but developed the habit when an app update on the phone failed during installation. Installing 3.0 removed the problem but this morning I tried to update an app and although the install seemed to work (the app is now the newest version) there were errors during the install warning me that the installation could not be completed and I would have to download it via iTunes. Following that, the phone is back to asking me for my password every time I open the App store app.
Presumably there's a file somewhere on the phone that is created or touched when doing updates and not cleaned up when they are successful. If so, would there be any way to delete it without losing data?

  • What do I do to stop my emails always asking for the password?

I have just had my iPhone5 replaced with a new one, and after getting synched with iCloud my email addresses are asking for the password.  have never had a password on emails...how do I stop this occuring?  many thx

Yes, but for that you'll need a cellular modem and a data plan to go with it. Or you may be able to use a cellular phone in tethered mode. I have no experience with either method, so I'll leave the explaining to someone who knows about them. Or if you already have a cell phone and plan, consult your phone service provider.

  • TS3276 When sending, Mail always ask for my password....why?

Mail asks for my password when I send an e-mail. Sometimes it take a few minutes before asking. How do I resolve this issue?

Does the same occur when setting Mail to check for new mail every 5 or 15 minutes?
If there are a number of messages to download and/or a message or messages contain attachments and the download process is not completed and the communication with the server closed before the next automatic check for new mail, the prompt to manually enter the account's password will be provided instead of an error message indicating there was a problem communicating with the server or the account will be taken offline.
The same can occur if there is heavy network traffic at the incoming mail server for the account when the Mail.app checks for new mail.
I have the Mail.app set to check for new mail every 15 minutes and if I am prompted to manually enter an account's password, this indicates there is a temporary problem at the incoming mail server for the account.
I have provided feedback to Apple requesting the Mail.app provide a communication with the server error message instead of a request to manually enter the account's password.
Try changing it to every 5 minutes as a test.

  • Somehow my husbands apple id "jumped" to my phone.  Now I'm always asked for his password and it's not even the ID he is using.  How do I get my phone back?

Somehow my husbands Apple ID "jumped" to my phone, or at least I'm asked for his password (and not for the ID he uses).  How do I get my phone back to my ID?

I believe that he must have at some point logged in to your phone and installed an app that he downloaded on his account and installed that app onto your phone. When your phone attempts to update that app, it will ask for his ID.
    OR
He might have just decided to log you out of your account and log himself in.
    Try - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1311
It might help if you described when you're getting password (for his ID) prompts.

  • IBooks Always Asking for AppleID Password

This isn't a huge deal, but rather an annoyance.....
Over the last month or two, I've noticed iBooks asks for my AppleID password when I launch the app on my iPad. I can't recall exactly when this first occurred, so I really can't pin it down to anything specific.  I'm running the current iOS and syncing wirelessly to my iMac (though I don't know if either of those matter).
In the past, I only had to type in my AppleID password when I actually wanted to purchase or download an app or iBook, but now it seems to want this password when I launch iBooks and start reading a book...I'm not even at the store.
I can't see any settings that would affect this....
    Any ideas?

This thread ( https://discussions.apple.com/message/23617781#23617781 ) suggests it's related to in-progress downloads from the iBooks store, but so far as I can tell, I don't have any of those and I still get prompted each time I launch.
